00:01Bersatu, without access to PASA's election machinery and grassroots network, risks being
00:06relegated to a minor Malay party, analysts warn, as the Islamic party reconsiders ties
00:11with its Prikata national ally.
00:13Shaza Shukri of the International Islamic University Malaysia said, Bersatu's success in securing
00:1931 parliamentary seats in the 2022 general election was largely due to PASA's organizational
00:24strength and voter base.
00:26She cautioned that Bersatu could easily slip into irrelevance if the partnership is severed,
00:31highlighting that without PASA, Bersatu could become just another small Malay party, maybe
00:36following the path of Pejuang, the party founded by former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
00:41in 2020.
00:43Meanwhile, the University of Malaya's Awang Azman Pawi said, PASA has effectively become
00:48the operational backbone of PN, particularly in rural and semi-urban Malay constituencies.
00:54He said Bersatu would struggle to defend its seats without PASA's vast network of loyal
00:58volunteers and grassroots machinery.
01:01Awang Azman said, the Islamic party holds a deeper ideological influence among Malay voters
01:06compared to Bersatu, having been established long before Bersatu, which broke away from UMNO
01:1110 years ago.
