00:00It was a historic night in Malaysian music.
00:04Fans of The Strollers, some of whom have been following the legendary band for decades,
00:09gathered on Sunday at the Backyard Pub and Grill in Srihar Tamas, Kuala Lumpur for one last show.
00:16The Strollers, A Farewell, proved to be an awesome night of classics, covers, and tributes from the group
00:22who have been wowing audiences since their formation in 1965.
00:27The night, organized by FMT and Backyard Pub and Grill, was to raise funds for the medical bills of drummer
00:34Hussein Idris
00:34while honoring founding member Billy Chang, who is retiring after 50 years as a bassist.
00:42Audience members hummed, sang, and danced along as they performed songs by the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd,
00:49REO Speedwagon, and even Oasis, as well as originals such as Silly Joke.
00:59Oh, it was great. I really have enjoyed the ambience and the crowd.
01:07Everyone gave a good support.
01:09Very sad because I've been following them for quite some time and it's like we're gonna miss their music,
01:18we're gonna miss their friendship and things like that.
01:22Yeah, I enjoyed while they were playing and all good things must come to an end and I'll keep them
01:31in my heart forever.
01:35Also present at the event was Hussein Idris' son, Raimi Hussein.
01:42I would like to thank on behalf of my family, all of you here who are giving the support.
01:50I truly appreciate it.
01:53I hope you guys can pray for his recovery.
01:57The band members also shared that this was a very bittersweet moment for them.
02:03So, it's kind of like, it's very moving, you know, like I was almost drawn to tears a couple of
02:10the songs,
02:11especially when we sing the Stroller songs.
02:13It's very, very moving.
02:14So, we have, the three of us, I think, we're quite emotional about it.
02:18I think Rodney just shed some tears in.
02:21Looking at it 10 years back, I started with Strollers and I'm proud and I'm honored to be with them.
02:29They have been through with me, stick and bullet.
02:33They are like family.
02:35As the final notes of the show faded, it was clear the Strollers had left behind more than a performance.
02:42Theirs is a lifelong legacy of music, memories, and moments that will continue to resonate in the hearts of their
02:49grateful fans.
