00:02On the leafy main street of Harndorf, a bitter dispute is brewing.
00:06Quite overwhelming and people are angry about it too.
00:09Same but different cafe had allowed dogs inside since it opened three and a half years ago.
00:15Being in Harndorf you sort of need to have a point of difference so that's where I thought being a
00:18dog friendly cafe would really work in our favour and it has.
00:22But the Mount Barker District Council warned Ms Hunter she could be fined two and a half thousand dollars if
00:28she kept allowing dogs indoors.
00:31I feel like three and a half years of building what I've built and then instantly to just take that
00:37away so yeah it's disappointing.
00:39The dog debacle has divided the community.
00:42Unfortunately what that has done is taken the choice away from dog owners to come into a cafe.
00:48I think people that would bring their dogs inside know their dogs well enough to know they'll behave.
00:53Without being mean and horrible sometimes they'll bark at strangers, sometimes they'll just get in the way and there's not
00:58always a lot of rooming cafes anyway and I'm not sure whether having animals and food is the right thing.
01:04In a statement the council says it's required to enforce national food safety legislation which doesn't allow animals inside food
01:12premises due to public health risks
01:15and that it doesn't have the authority to exempt individual businesses.
01:19An online petition to keep the cafe dog friendly has racked up more than 1800 signatures and Kelly says she'll
01:25continue to fight to allow people to bring their furry friends back inside.
01:30But for now the puppuccinos are exclusively outdoors.
01:34They're all overweight and less likely to go outdoors.
01:34They're all overweight and less likely to be left in the support of staying in the hospital.
01:38As you know, I know, the Oscars and others are being an expensive man.
