One morning our neighbour rang and said, "I'm really worried, I don't know what's going on,
00:05
shall I knock the door?" And I said, "Yeah, fine," because these puppies were along the track. She'd
00:09
obviously parked her car along the track, so potential buyers wouldn't see the puppies in the
00:16
car in that state. I would never have bought a prospective buyer into here, it was so bad. You
00:20
opened the door and the smell was awful. I cuddled the puppy for an hour. Yeah, we were more concerned
00:28
about the puppies, weren't we, and what was going to happen to them because they're just awful. You
00:34
know, one of the puppies was absolutely caked in faeces, you know, it was just horrendous. It would
00:41
have been, oh, it was just awful. And the smell and the poor puppies that were, you know, they were
00:47
robbing us because we fed them. They were starving. No, I haven't because of all this trouble, so I
00:52
said, "You better get and feed them." Anyway, she came out with two cans of dog food, which really
00:56
should be given to puppies. Yeah, they're too young. She scoops them into the bowl and these
01:01
four puppies wafted it down and all the others had nothing. I said, "You need to do more than that.
01:06
Is that enough for this volume of puppies and dogs you've got?" And she just shoved her shoulders.
01:12
And she went, "Mother, it's you two busy keep looking at her phone." We're devastated. We've
01:18
worked hard to get the cottage and to do this and obviously we're not spring chickens and having to
01:25
come in. I was up here last night till half eleven, cleaning this out, opening the windows, trying to
01:31
get some air through there and the mess that was everywhere. I was trying to put stuff in the
01:36
washing machine and the washing machine was absolutely covered with poo, mud, everything. I
01:42
had to get a cloth to wipe the panel so I could actually see which thing I was pushing into the
01:46
washing machine. That's how bad it was in the kitchen. Yeah, we're devastated, aren't we?
01:54
So, puppy wise, we think there are 15. There may have been more. They were really difficult to
01:59
count. There was a cage with the five to six week old ones in. The mother of those was here running
02:09
around the house and then there were more aged about 10 weeks, were they? And they were running
02:18
all over the house. We think there was 15. Feces, urine, puppies were caked in feces.
02:26
Yeah, the house was just feces everywhere. Urine, feces. She'd thrown cans of dog meat all over my
02:38
lovely beds and the lids were strewn everywhere. Puppies were cutting their feet. In fact, there
02:44
was a lid in the cage with the puppies which a police officer had to get in and get out. Thankfully,
02:50
we have wonderful neighbours. Who were vigilant and told. Who were very vigilant and said. So,
02:58
I think otherwise, but we can't go back to meet and greet. It's just not possible for us. It
03:04
doesn't work for us. We're going to have to carry on with self-checking, aren't we? And then just
03:09
just keep our fingers crossed and hope that everything's okay.
