Rostec has released a video showing the start of flight tests of the Ka-226T light multipurpose helicopter equipped with the Russian VK-650V engine, marking another stage in the country’s program to replace imported aviation components.
The aircraft is developed by the Russian Helicopters group, while the new VK-650V engine was created by the United Engine Corporation (UEC), with both companies linked to Rostec. According to the Russian state corporation, the first flight of the updated version lasted around 20 minutes and included taxiing, hovering, and maneuvers over the takeoff area.
