With just over one hundred residents, the farming village of Colon, Nebraska is built on trust; when county treasurer Sharron Erickson is found murdered in her town garage, Main Street becomes a crime scene where no one can trust their neighbour.
Transcript
00:10in a community where Main Street is only one block long with a population of barely 100 the
00:16folks of the farming village of Colon Nebraska have come to rely on each other that's just the
00:23way it is people know each other and help out we're just good folks with good hearts but
00:29on a late summer evening in 2003 that idyllic harmony is shattered when the shocking murder
00:36of longtime resident Sharon Erickson turns Main Street into a crime scene there's a gun laying
00:44by her head and a pool of blood someone had to get over that fence and cut the phone line
00:50everybody
00:51across the board were shocked and questions of who the killer may be break communal bonds people
00:58started pointing fingers at each other saying I bet he did or he did or he did it in the
01:06town of 140 or
01:08less people they're all suspects it's hard to believe and accept the killer probably was somebody living
01:15next door now locals who once looked out for each other are looking suspiciously at each other
01:45on June 30th 2003 I was on patrol it's evening time in the middle of the summer and there's still
01:54plenty of sunlight
01:55I received a call from our dispatch center
01:58Saunders County 911 I need an ambulance okay what's going on a neighbor a lady in Colon was
02:05missing we found her in a garage is she possibly dead I've just been told that we need the sheriff
02:10and probably a mortician
02:14our dispatch center indicated that somebody in Colon had located a deceased female and believed that she
02:22had committed suicide and she's in a garage along Main Street Main Street is one block long there's the bank
02:32in the
02:32post office and the restaurant and bar but there are houses there I arrived at the scene
02:40I made contact with the volunteer firefighters and the ladies from the bank that were standing there
02:49the bank employees got a call from Sharon's family members saying that she had missed their five o'clock phone
02:55call
02:56they had been asked to go over and check on Sharon Erickson
03:03the garage was opened and I could see the car inside along with the deceased female
03:10she was on the left side of the car with her head near the front left tire
03:15in a small town of Colon the coroner called in also happens to be the local prosecutor
03:21I meet with the deputy that was first on the scene he shows me where the body is
03:28she was wearing what appeared to be like clothes that she would be sleeping in just like a pajama outfit
03:34there's a gun that is laying just by her head which is in a pool of blood and it appears
03:41that maybe it's a
03:41self-inflicted gunshot she had a small purse we were guessing at that time maybe that's where
03:47she carried her handgun I did notice that Sharon's shorts were pulled down slightly on one side and
03:56her tank top was pulled up just a little bit exposing her stomach and also noticed that there
04:02was a blood smear on the car Sharon had been married what was divorced didn't have any children
04:10it looked like it could have been a suicide we talked to everybody at the scene we learned Sharon
04:20had a very definitive routine every morning about 8 a.m. she would go to the postmaster Rick Hartman
04:27get her mail the post office was right next door to Sharon's residence she would talk to him for you
04:33know 15 20 minutes go over to the bank chit chat with the ladies do her business and then go
04:40about
04:40her day from there Sharon and her relatives communicated at least once a day and generally
04:47at 5 o'clock on the day her body was found her family member hadn't received a phone call and
04:54then
04:55contacted the bank and asked the employees if they had seen her and when they hadn't seen her then the
05:01family member requested that they do a welfare check the bank ladies contacted Rick Hartman the postmaster
05:08and asked if he had seen her earlier that day he said he did not see her so Rick Hartman
05:20actually had
05:20a key to her place so they went to her home her house was unlocked that was unusual there was
05:27an alarm
05:28going off she had an alarm that went around the door handle on the back door and they turned that
05:35off they can't find her in her residence Sharon's residence was on one side of the street her garage
05:42where she kept her car was actually across the street the postmaster found the garage door opener
05:48open the garage door and Rick Hartman found her body laying next to her car in her garage analyzing the
06:02tragic scene something catches the eye of investigators we walk around to the back of car and the deputy says
06:11that he's concerned because there's blood on the back of the bumper he couldn't explain why it was there
06:17we could never find a shell casing but we thought maybe it got tucked into her clothes and we would
06:23find it at the autopsy and then also found that there was no magazine in the gun
06:32in the evening as the sun lowered it started shining into the garage opening and at that point we noticed
06:40that there was actually blood on the door frame deputy Coughlin opened the door and then you could
06:46see on the inside the door frame that there was a noticeable amount of blood that totally changed the way
06:53we're looking at everything we both thought okay somebody else had to have done that because she could not
07:01have shot herself and then struggled with the door shut the door and then put herself in that position without
07:07blood being in a different spot at that point we realized it was not self-inflicted gunshot wound
07:16this isn't a suicide this is a murder now investigators explore the scene with new eyes looking for clues as
07:25to who
07:25could have done this and outside Sharon's garage word spreads along Main Street I
07:33was in the office and the people came in said did you hear about Sharon Sharon was found murdered I
07:38went
07:38what quiet little community that people always got along good it's scary and unbelievable oh I
07:49couldn't believe it when the news came out Sharon lived on Main Street and I lived one block off in
07:57our
07:57little community you just don't even think of those things it doesn't happen in Cullen well the first
08:04thing that comes to your mind when you're thinking who could have done it well anybody frightened by her
08:11murder Cullen's tight-knit community wonders why anyone would kill someone so well regarded as Sharon I had a
08:19lot of interaction with her at the treasurer's office Sharon Erickson was very well known in Cullen and she was
08:26well known in the county as she worked for the county treasurer's office for over 30 years Sharon Erickson had
08:33probably the highest standards of anybody that worked at the courthouse she was always dressed properly very
08:40cordial to people my kids got to know Sharon mostly when we'd go to a convention because Sharon liked to
08:47swim
08:48Sharon jumped in the pool and of course my kids are in right with her Sharon was bubbly she always
08:55had
08:55positive things to say about other people this is a retirement party for sure at the courthouse everyone
09:05brought a dish they had a cake it was just wow can you believe Sharon just retired and so that
09:15was really sad
09:19at Sharon's property some investigators keep speaking with the locals while others head across Main
09:25Street to begin a sweep of Sharon's home where she recently installed added protection we found out
09:32that Sharon had just constructed a new vinyl fence within a few days of the crime happening friends of Sharon
09:42Sharon indicated that she was pretty paranoid she was concerned about her safety the fact that she lived
09:49alone and everybody in town knew she lived alone law enforcement trying to figure out what happened at
09:57the house noticed that her phone line was cut so someone had to get over that fence and then they
10:04had
10:04to go there and cut the phone line so someone was somewhat familiar with either her and or her residence
10:14inside of her home you can see that it's neat but the back door had a pry mark on it
10:20someone had tried to get
10:22into the house we did find one object that looked like maybe it could have been used to pry the
10:30door open it
10:31was a cold chisel a heavy metal object kind of rusty that was laying on the floor moving into Sharon's
10:41bedroom investigators uncover more telling clues we don't find any signs of struggle but we do see that
10:48there's a empty holster that's sitting on a table it looked like she might have been in bed and might
10:56have
10:56taken the gun out of the holster and left in a hurry because the phone line was cut we were
11:03pretty certain something happened in the home first we believed that the clothes that she had on some
11:09small shorts underwear and a tank top may have been bedtime clothing we assume she ran across to get
11:17into her garage because she needed to escape because she couldn't call for help Sharon didn't keep a large
11:24amount of cash or any particular valuables in her home we discovered that there was cash in her purse
11:30so the assailant who was trying to get into their home it wasn't clear to us what they were going
11:35in
11:35there for investigators look for answers from Sharon's Main Street friends who found her body everybody
11:44that's there is a suspect so we wanted to talk to the bank ladies and the postmaster I asked the
11:56different people involved to all write out a statement as to what happened everybody was very patient with
12:04the exception of the postmaster Rick Hartman a couple different times I had to ask him to step back
12:10because he kept coming up close to the garage or in the garage he kind of started wondering why he
12:17was
12:17inserting himself so much in the situation the postmaster did a complete 180 degree flip he got angry and said
12:27to
12:27me if you're gonna arrest me arrest me but I'm leaving
12:34coming up this is something that was personal people said you need to check further on where
12:41that neighbor was because this person's not telling you the truth Sharon was not one to shy away from
12:47conflict we started hearing rumors that the postmaster and Sharon were more than friends
13:06after 66 year old retiree Sharon Erickson is found dead in her Main Street garage in Cullen Nebraska
13:13authorities take note of the postmaster's bizarre actions at the scene is there something the postmaster
13:21is trying to conceal Rick Hartman was the postmaster his interaction stood out because he was trying so
13:32much to inject himself into the scene so we talked with the postmaster mr. Hartman was a postman for a
13:41number of years very friendly with Sharon at her house all the time he said when she would go on
13:48vacation or
13:49out of town he would watch her place he had a key to her place but when you're interviewing somebody
13:57their body language anything emotionally that's coming out you're trying to judge is this unusual or
14:04is it not unusual and his lined up on the unusual side he was kind of like come on what
14:11else do you have to
14:12to ask me detectives number one question is where was Rick when Sharon was being murdered the postmaster's
14:22alibi was that he was home his wife also came to the scene and his wife confirmed that you have
14:29to be
14:30aware of how valid the alibi is does that person have anything to gain or lose by giving you a
14:35bad
14:36information do you think they're hiding something you think they're lying about something and mr. Hartman's
14:42relationship with Sharon we weren't 100% sure what that was so he was involved in her life I will
14:49say
14:50that what we're trained is not just to necessarily react based on what somebody says right then so we
14:59made the decision to go ahead and release everybody and then we would follow up later if we needed to
15:10we had the transport come in bag the body and then just took it into the autopsy we didn't finish
15:19up at
15:20the scene until about 5 30 or 6 the next morning the day after Sharon's body is discovered investigators
15:31first look to establish a timeframe in which the murder must have occurred we were in contact with
15:40her family we learned that the day prior to the murder Sharon had met some family for supper she got
15:49home about 5 30 so we knew the timeframe was about 5 30 in the evening the day before and
15:57up to when she
15:58missed her morning visit to the post office probably 8 a.m. the next day Sharon was really good friends
16:09with her cousin in Lincoln Nebraska and it was this cousin who actually dropped her off at her home the
16:15evening before Sharon was murdered after speaking with the cousin who had nothing out of the ordinary
16:21to note investigators then begin extensively canvassing the community of Main Street so we have the bank
16:29personnel the postman they're all suspects until we can exclude them we started out going door-to-door
16:37asking them if they heard a dog barking if they saw a light somewhere heard a noise anything that was
16:43out of
16:43the ordinary Sharon had lived there a lot of years the Mars has lived in the back and kind of
16:51catty corner
16:51from Sharon she knew the Mars family there were a couple people in town that were oh just nothing serious
17:03but would get in trouble such as their son James Mars James Mars is 25 years old and works as
17:10a farmhand in
17:11the area when we talked to the family James Mars was pretty cooperative in answering questions his mom was
17:21cooperative the night of the homicide Mars said he had been drinking in a bar in Wahoo and then said
17:29he
17:30went to a friend's house and then went home we talked to that friend and he confirmed Mars alibi his
17:39mom
17:39was up waiting for him and verified that he came home James Mars alibi checked out as the main street
17:49canvas carries on investigators learned Sharon kept a sharp eye on her street and her neighbors
17:57Sharon was was said not to be one that would shy away from from conflict Sharon would complain from time
18:05to time about people that would stay up too late because she was on Main Street and there was a
18:11bar
18:11across the road someone would leave the bar radio would be allowed rev their car up but they were all
18:18pretty minor things that just happened in a small community however investigators discover the one
18:25neighbor whom Sharon had a deeper dislike for was the one closest to her new fence we learned that Sharon
18:34had a argumentative contentious relationship with the trucker next door they weren't the best of friends and
18:40and then we heard from other people that Sharon really did not like him
19:01detectives learn Sharon Erickson had some run-ins with a trucker next door could this Main Street
19:07resident be responsible for ending Sharon's life right next to Sharon's residence there was a trucker
19:15that had a shop he would park his vehicles there do a lot of work on his semi which is
19:22loud the truck
19:24driver and Sharon both had strong personalities and they would both tell each other what they thought
19:31she had a number of conversations with the trucker can you turn that off earlier can you not
19:37park here in speaking with the trucker he said that Sharon liked her peace and quiet and at times he
19:47would maybe antagonize share it on purpose detectives press the trucker asking where he was the night in
19:54June the 30th the trucker said the night of the homicide he was in another state had receipts at a
20:02truck
20:04stop the trucker promises to return with receipts but until then he remains a suspect
20:10one of many in the eyes of detectives and townsfolk alike people on Main Street sort of pointing fingers at
20:18each other
20:18saying I bet he did it or he did it or he did it and so people got labeled and
20:26people had to live with that so if you knew Sharon then you could be a suspect very easy
20:38and if it is somebody in town then that means that they're still there
20:43I knew most of the people in Colin there's some people that you just go there's no way and then
20:50there are other people that you go I can see a possibility here you hope you're wrong but you
20:56wonder if the killer's watching you you wonder if the killer's doing something to cover up evidence
21:03and then you always wonder what am I missing
21:10detectives find that new leads are difficult to come by but one week since her murder
21:15Sharon's autopsy concludes and the results cause investigators to ask what kind of killer are they facing
21:24everybody in law enforcement myself included at that point we're leaning to somebody shot her and just dropped the gun
21:31there
21:32we attended the autopsy and we learned that there actually was not even a gunshot there was no bullet hole
21:40it was actually ruled that she died of strangulation everybody across the board were shocked
21:48and then she had blunt trauma to her head so it was pretty clear that she was confronted beaten and
21:54then strangled they did a sexual assault swab and they sent those in for testing but once you realize
22:05that strangulation was a cause of death you start thinking this is something that was personal
22:12strangulation doesn't happen in a few seconds it takes a while for that to happen so somebody had
22:20to be up close with her and determined to make sure that they ended her life strangulation can be
22:29motivated by very intense emotions be it power control anger retaliation even revenge
22:41with the cause of death revealed as an exceptionally brutal strangulation
22:45Saunders County detectives huddle up with renewed vigor we had a few days where we were theorizing on
22:53what could have happened who have we all talked to at the scene who would all be living within a
23:01two
23:01block three block radius which essentially is the whole town in colon and who could be a potential
23:07suspect from that pool and the suspect that surfaces to the top is the trucker with whom Sharon had
23:16a beef you wonder if there's maybe something that's more hostile but when investigators follow up the
23:26trucker provides proof he was far from Main Street the night of Sharon's death the trucker was in another
23:32state he had receipts at a truck stop so we were able to prove that he was completely out of
23:37state didn't
23:38have to worry about a timeline now with the trucker cleared investigators still don't have a top suspect
23:48but when results from the DNA swabs come in they wonder if their luck is about to change we found
23:56out
23:56that there was actually semen that was discovered on the swab it really made
24:05people wonder what actually happened swabs taken from Sharon Erickson's autopsy reveals she had not
24:27only been beaten and strangled and sexually assaulted deepening the mystery for detectives
24:35so you start theorizing did the sexual assault occur at the residents and they got in a fight and they
24:41ran
24:41across the street or did the assault occur only at the garage and the strangulation occurred from there
24:53armed with this new intel detectives urgently shuttle the swab from Sharon's autopsy to the lab hoping
24:59it will yield a DNA profile of the killer so we sent the evidence to the UNMC the med center
25:06in Omaha
25:07Nebraska it will be a few weeks before we could possibly get just the profile back but once we determined
25:16that there was semen located and anytime you see a strangulation it becomes more personal you're up
25:25close with somebody and you're in contact with them we were able to focus on narrowing down who would
25:35be personally associated with Sharon then we started asking for swabs just so we had them on file
25:44based on the new sexual homicide profile detectives turn their sights on Sharon's male friends and the
25:50talk in town points to one man we started hearing rumors that maybe the postmaster and Sharon were more
26:00than friends folks around town would sit around the coffee shop and say well I wonder who did it his
26:07name
26:08would pop up I was golfing with the postmaster at the time and he said it was just terrible
26:17the way he was treated by some people shunned and scared of him you have compassion for him but it's
26:26hard to make a conclusion because maybe he did it investigators put postmaster Rick higher on their suspect list
26:36when he shows up one place in particular Sharon's estate sale you always hear about the onlookers at
26:44a scene that are actually the ones that did it we were wondering would the killer show up at the
26:51estate
26:51sale and look at her items or you just want to be there to see what's going on so we
26:58decided that we're
26:59going to get a list of everybody that attends the estate sale and find out who's buying insurance property
27:06the day of the estate sale detectives discover Rick Hartman is in attendance and he's keen on one
27:13specific item law enforcement called and said we saw the postmaster buying the bed mattress the fact that we
27:24were trying to determine the level of his relationship with Sharon and then he bought her bed at the
27:30auction you have a sexual assault so you start wondering if he knew that there could be some DNA from
27:37him on the mattress because of their discovery detectives bring back Rick for another round of
27:45questioning when we talked to him about that what was even more unusual is he denied that he purchased the
27:53bed why would he be trying to conceal that information detectives press Rick on his purchase of Sharon's
28:00mattress finally getting him to fess up he said he had some kids that were leaving home going to college
28:06and bought it for them but he just did a number of things that caused us to second-guess everything
28:11he
28:11was telling us then a call from the lab about Sharon's autopsy swabs breathes new life into the hunt
28:24the lab was able to get a DNA profile from swab we run it through the database which was a
28:33little
28:33bit smaller in 2003 because not all felony convictions were required to submit we didn't have any matches
28:40at the time we just had a DNA profile so if we find our guy and he's a match we're
28:47gonna be pretty sure
28:47we have the right suspect the killer's DNA has yet to be compared to swabs previously collected a
28:56painstaking process and as the months roll by no matches come back from the lab leaving investigators
29:03with no proof to pin Sharon's murder on anyone we looked into every lead we had we were in colon
29:12probably
29:13every day we just didn't have anything your fear is that how long is it gonna go we were always
29:21actively
29:21involved but at some point you realize that you're gonna start losing potential witnesses or information
29:30and it's just not going to be easy to solve you certainly don't want somebody out there who's
29:38capable of beating someone strangling them and sexually assault we still had no answers into who committed this
29:48crime against Sharon you wanted to know that Sharon her family and her friends would be able to get
29:56some justice in knowing who did this and maybe why the main street regular to investigators keep coming
30:07back to is the man who knew Sharon best Rick Hart we were trying to figure out the extent of
30:16his
30:16relationship with Sharon he agreed to polygraph but the polygraph was inconclusive
30:25so he naturally was one that we wanted to exclude with DNA mr Hartman submitted a DNA sample then knowing
30:35they could be just one step away from cracking the case a new tip surfaces putting a different Main
30:41Street neighbor one who lives just a stone's throw away from Sharon back in the crosshairs the 25 year old
30:48farmhand James Mars James Mars who lived right behind her the individual that was providing the James Mars
30:59alibi we started hearing that James asked him to confirm that he was at his house if the police came
31:06and
31:06asked questions other people said you need to check further on where James Mars was because this person
31:14providing the alibi is not telling you the truth the alibi for James Mars started to lose credibility
31:39I mean just received a tip that James Mars may have manufactured his alibi detectives mobilized to obtain his DNA
31:49initially Mars Mars had indicated that after the bar he went to a friend's house we heard from
31:59many people that James had asked that friend if the police asked where I was that night you need to
32:06tell
32:06them that I was here as the investigation proceeded we talked to that friend the individual that was
32:13providing the alibi wasn't very credible and never admitted to lying about the alibi the people that James Mars
32:21associated with were no strangers to law enforcement in the community although James wasn't brought in and
32:28interrogated he submitted a DNA swab authorities rushed the Mars DNA sample to the lab joining the swab collected from
32:37Rick Hartman and Rick Hartman hoping one will match the murderer's DNA our top suspects were Mr. Hartman and
32:45James Mars Mr. Hartman had a close friendly relationship with Sharon Erickson the fact that he was at her house
32:54all the time
32:54purchased her bed and he's being a basic James Mars was on the list for a number of reasons
33:04one he was out drinking that night and James Mars parents home where he resides is right behind Sharon's house
33:15when we suspected that he was lying about his alibi that raised the concern even more but we were also
33:22wondering is there someone that we've completely missed
33:31then after tracking down leads for 10 relentless months detectives finally get the call they've been waiting for
33:38I get a phone call from the med center and they tell me they had a DNA match
33:45I actually had to stop and think about it did I hear that right
33:49she tells me that they actually got a match with a sample that was taken from Sharon
33:55she said they've got a match and that it matched James Mars
34:01the DNA hit was enough to arrest him
34:07but there was still some investigation that needed to be done with James Mars
34:12James Mars is arrested for the murder of Sharon Erickson
34:17investigators bring Mars to the station and attempt to get him to confess
34:23James Mars was brought into an interview room
34:27he didn't volunteer anything his confession came bits and pieces well I didn't remember that and then
34:33he would eventually say it so it wasn't like he just finally said yeah here's what I did
34:40Mars said that he had been drinking in a bar in Wahoo
34:42he did a line of cocaine with a friend James came home
34:48he was hoping to find some gas money and beer money so he went to Sharon Erickson's home
34:54jumped the fence cut the phone line and was kicking her back door in when the alarm went off
35:02and then she confronted him
35:06and her gun was not loaded she probably brandished the weapon to scare James
35:15she recognized who he was called him an ass told him to get out of her backyard
35:22when she called him an ass his demeanor changed you could just feel it when he said I told her
35:31go
35:31ahead and shoot me and when she didn't fire he started beating her and then she ran into her house
35:42he jumped the fence again and he saw the garage door go open
35:48and he knew that she was going to get into her car and go for help
35:52so he went across the street confronted her by her car where he admitted that he told her to shoot
36:00him again
36:04and when she didn't he started beating her again and then strangled her
36:11everything he was saying fit the entire aspect that we'd investigated
36:16but he would not admit to the sexual assault and almost started to shut down in his confession when I
36:22when I went to that
36:26James said he was breaking in to steal something
36:30I don't know that the assault was intended initially but I think that it happened because the opportunity was there
36:37sometimes you never know those answers
36:41even killers have their own strange moral codes
36:44for some a murder could be justified but a sexual attack no
36:51it was impulsive it was base it was animalistic and it's something of which he is ashamed
37:01with Mars in custody Main Street residents are relieved and yet deeply saddened to hear that Sharon's accused killer is
37:10one of their own
37:12our son had gone to school with James Mars and never in my life would I have dreamt that he
37:18could have been involved in anything like that
37:21it is heartbreaking it's not just the person that gets murdered it's the family that's involved
37:30is hurting too I knew his family when I met his dad at the casting shop I said I'm very
37:39sorry to hear what's going on and he could tell that he was very very remorseful
37:49you always think well why did it happen I mean it doesn't make any sense but at the time a
37:56young man thought it did
38:01I thought it was important that he admitted it I realized family neighbors maybe don't want to believe it but
38:09this guy's an evil person
38:12the Mars confession is also vitally important for trial you can't rely just on the DNA you have to
38:18have other evidence and circumstances does the prosecution preps for court there's a huge problem
38:27unfortunately James Mars never established that he was waiving his right to an attorney
38:32that confession ended up being suppressed and we were not able to use that for a trial
38:48the prosecution team has just learned James Mars confession for murdering Sharon Erikson cannot be used in court
38:58Mars never established that he was waiving his right to an attorney we can't use anything from that interview
39:06but we were able to determine that everything that he said fit with all of the evidence we had first
39:16we
39:16were able to tie him to the seam through the DNA match and there was a tool that was found
39:23at the scene we
39:25believe was used just to break in the house and cut the phone line we found the tool belonged to
39:31James
39:31Mars dad we also determined that James had asked someone to generate an alibi for him that wasn't
39:39factual and then there were additional personal confessions that we had with other inmates Mars talked to
39:48six different cellmates he bragged about what he had done two years since Sharon Erikson's murder James Mars learns his
39:59fate
40:01James Mars was charged with first-degree murder and we proceeded towards trial with those charges we talked with the
40:10family the part that would have been harder to prove with the first degree would be some of the intent
40:16they understood the challenges that a trial
40:18would have so we decided to a plea offer of second-degree murder we knew that we could still get
40:27justice for Sharon and her family through that plea
40:32unlike first-degree murder the charge of second-degree murder doesn't include premeditation James Mars accepted that plea offer and
40:42pled guilty to the second-degree murder
40:49that day also happened to be Sharon's 69th birthday so for family and friends they did get a little bit
40:56of resolution and that they were in court that day that he took that plea agreement
41:07in early 2006 James Mars is sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole
41:14and with Sharon's killer behind bars for good life in Cullen continues on forever changed
41:22you think you're an innocent little community and all of a sudden you have this horrific thing that's not supposed
41:27to happen in a small town
41:28and when it does then you got to deal with it I think people start wondering do I really know
41:34that person and not specifically just mr. Mars
41:38do I really know my neighbor and are they capable of something well it broke my heart for one thing
41:47because Sharon had a lot of things she could have done yet and she was just really starting to enjoy
41:53her retirement and
41:54and that was all taken from her then
41:58a neighbor kills a neighbor you have that suspicion that maybe that could happen to you
42:04I'm sure people have that in the back of their mind but I do not
42:11Cullen drew together they embraced each other and I think as a close-knit community they did a phenomenal job
42:22for Cullen residents and Sharon's loved ones her main street murder remains an unimaginable tragedy
42:28her life of community service and its unfathomable end serve to remind us all that every moment is a gift
42:35and no act of kindness too small but it's been said we make our friends make our enemies but God
42:43makes our next-door neighbors
42:44we make our next-door neighbors
