00:002.1, as I say so, from Dino Beganovic.
00:04Beganovic, 2 tenths slower, actually, than Stenshawn in the first sector of the lap.
00:08We'll see what kind of pace they have as this lap unfolds.
00:11Stenshawn making his way into the hairpin, 2.2 clear of Beganovic,
00:16and this will be the biggest test for him.
00:17Oh, Kian Shields locking up into the chicane.
00:20He's got Alex Dunn to his inside there, and Alex Dunn is going to go through,
00:24in fact, that's Kushmine, apologies, he's going to go through an upper position.
00:27Open the door, momentary yellow flag.
00:29Kian Shields is going to be under pressure again from Miata on his way down
00:35to the final couple of turns of the lap.
00:37A little bit of a scrappy moment for Shields.
00:39Dirksen will be next up, having had a difficult time through the pit stops in his Invicta.
00:46Hertha and Balenci, third and fourth, second and third in queue there.
00:49They really need the rain to come right now, don't they, if this gamble's going to work.
00:53Otherwise, they're just going to find themselves falling down the order
00:56because they're all queuing up on newer tyres behind.
00:59You can see Gabriele Mini trying to get past Rafa Kamara into the chicane there.
01:05Gabriele Mini in really good form this season.
01:08Can he add to the podiums and make it three in a row here in Canada?
01:12Richard and Balinski starting to struggle, as you mentioned.
01:15The rain or another safety car would, of course, do it for them.
01:19Then they'd be on the super soft tyre with zero delta to the rest of the pack.
01:24That being said, track position would not be their friend.
01:27With the pack this close together, there's been nothing between these Formula 2 drivers
01:31in incredibly difficult conditions.
01:33Some really impressive driving going on out there as we sit on the shoulder of Alex Dunn,
01:38dancing in seventh position, looking at the other Alpine junior machine of Gabriele Mini.
01:42He sits slightly to the inside as he makes his way down to turn 10,
01:46and then we take off through the exit of 10.
01:49That's the slippiest part of the circuit still.
01:51DRS open for both drivers as this lap 22 of 39 comes to its close.
01:57Down in towards the chicane, and Balinski just trying to get back past Colton Herter here.
02:04Ran wide down at the hairpin, which lost him the effective lead of the race.
02:09Someone going wide in the background, which is Nikolas Solov, the Red Bull junior there.
02:13Seems he's fighting away with Montoya over 13th place.
02:17Not having an eye on him.
02:18Oh, and that's Kamara trying to go down the inside there, and he spun at turn two.
02:23Kamara trying to go around the outside at turn one, down the inside of Balinski,
02:26and he spun himself out of the race.
02:28Car's moving, so he's kept the engine going, but disastrous moment for Kamara.
02:34We'll have to see it again, whether he got just too deep down the inside of Balinski,
02:39who, of course, unfortunately, is not really in his race at this point.
02:43Yeah, we have to see, was there a coming together between the pair,
02:46or was it Kamara a case of spinning?
02:49I think we'll find out the answer to that question very, very shortly.
02:53But that drops Rafa Kamara, one of the championship leaders, down.
02:58The opportunity here is opening up for the likes of Martini, Estancho,
03:01and Dino Beganovic to fly up the championship standings.
03:04Yeah, they're really falling away from the lead of this one.
03:07Estancho looking peerless out front now.
03:102.3 seconds the gap, moving away slightly from Dino Beganovic,
03:14who looked primed to catch him earlier on in the race.
03:18The car with its DRS open that you can see is Gabriele Mini,
03:22who wants to go at Balinski, and he'll be next up,
03:25looking to the outside of 13.
03:27Nothing available for him there.
03:29He's going to have to wait one more lap,
03:31but Balinski has the rearguard action fully going here.
03:34This race is really starting to come good for Gabriele Mini as well.
03:39He is our championship leader by six points.
03:41Rafa Kamara, second, has had a spin.
03:43Nikola Solov has had an incident as well.
03:45Laurence Van Hooppen, fourth in the standings, is out.
03:48So, Gabriele Mini now in a very good position.
03:50So, this is Kamara, is going to follow him into turn one,
03:54then launch to the inside of turn two,
03:56and there was never a gap there, was there?
03:58No.
03:58Unfortunately for Rafa Kamara,
04:00he's been feisty throughout this race.
04:04Moment with Villa Gomez, I think, was a bit of a racing incident,
04:07but that one is clumsy.
04:10That's not the way, man.
04:11That's not the way.
04:12You now need to keep it cool.
04:14Reset.
04:15And Invicta know that, don't they, over the radio.
04:18Let's see it from Mini's point of view.
04:20Ah, every so often a reminder that this is still the Formula
04:25where they learn to be Formula One drivers.
04:27Oh, and we've got an issue.
04:29Dino Beganovic.
04:30Smoke coming out there,
04:31and Dino Beganovic now also in trouble, it seems,
04:36and we had a move from Gabriele Mini in the pink Alpine.
04:38Oh, Dino Beganovic cannot catch a break this season.
04:42Once again, he's going to find himself possibly out of this race,
04:45but let's watch this first.
04:46Belinsky being passed by Gabriele Mini.
04:48He's almost being pushed down the straight there
04:50by Herta, the second of the Alpines.
04:52It's Alex Dunn, who goes down the inside of Herta.
04:55Cushmine with a lunge down at the final chicane on Mari Boyer.
04:59It's hard to know where to look.
05:00Beganovic has continued running here,
05:03despite the fact the car looked like it was smoking.
05:05We're three wide down towards turn one.
05:07Boyer still under pressure.
05:09That's Miata trying to go around the outside of him.
05:12Are they able to keep that machine of Beganovic going?
05:15He's not lost any pace here,
05:17but there was clear smoke coming from the rear of the car, wasn't there?
05:19Yeah, there really was, and Belinsky, Herta, these are the lead two
05:23who have not come into the pits for the mandatory pit stop yet,
05:27so a fight going on between them.
05:29Boyer hanging on in there in ninth place as well
05:32with Joshua Dirksen behind.
05:33And look at Likula Solov now, Alex.
05:3511th place for the Bulgarian,
05:37as we see smoke continuing to come out of Dino Beganovic's car.
05:40Let's watch this first sector for Beganovic.
05:43Tenth off what Martini Estenchon's done.
05:45So at the moment, whatever has befallen Beganovic
05:49has not slowed him down.
05:52Gabriele Mini and Alex Dunn are the next two battling each other,
05:56and Dino Beganovic will be hoping
05:58that they continue to battle and battle they do.
06:00Dunn to the inside makes the move on Mini, who goes wide,
06:03but is he going to be under pressure with the DRS open
06:06in the final couple of corners?
06:07Yeah, Dunn has gone by then into third place,
06:11but it looks like Mini is going to go straight back through.
06:14Did he almost let him go through, I wonder, there,
06:16and said, through you go.
06:17I'll take the place back down towards turn 13.
06:19Could easily be so.
06:21Miata with another move.
06:23Hertha peels to the pits.
06:25That'll be for his mandatory pit stop.
06:28So Hertha finally pulling the trigger on pitting for the Supersoft.
06:32Yeah, he has to do it at some point.
06:34And Hertha has now come into the pits.
06:36It seems Kamara is in the pit lane and hasn't returned.
06:39If he's to get a penalty, of course,
06:41it will carry over to the next feature race.
06:44So this could really hurt Kamara
06:47if he's not able to get back out on circuit, Alex.
06:49Yeah, he is in the pit lane.
06:50They look to have retired the car.
06:52Whether they then fire that back up.
06:54Look, he stayed in it.
06:55So whether they then fire that back up
06:57just to use the penalty up effectively
07:00and get him back out there
07:02so that they don't have to carry the penalty on
07:05remains to be seen.
07:06Yeah, that's been a change to the regs this year.
07:08It's now, you always serve the penalty
07:10in the feature race, grid drops.
07:12So Kamara and Victor will be aware of that.
07:15Right, let's go back to the action.
07:18There's no reason to go back anymore.
07:20I have a very big reason.
07:22If you get a penalty for Monaco, I'm going to win.
07:34OK, so I want you to be back on track
07:41even if you are two or three laps down.
07:42I don't want to go to the road.
07:43I don't care.
07:44I want the penalty today.
07:46And a spin from Ritomo Miata.
07:49Is that in the number three?
07:50High-tech it is.
07:51But that is what Invicta are doing
07:52because the next race is Monaco.
07:54And now down the straight,
07:56that is Alex Dunn going by Gabriele Mini
07:58onto the podium.
07:59Places there.
08:00Into the chicane we go now.
08:03Five-second time penalty confirmed
08:04for Rafa Kamara.
08:05He'll want to get back out on track
08:07and serve that in this race.
08:09They'll have to get out there and use it up.
08:10Dunn and Mini so equally matched here.
08:13It's going to be punch and counterpunch
08:15with the DRS to the end of the race.
08:17But they're both now being caught by Belinsky,
08:21who still has tremendous pace
08:22despite the fact he has carried this...
08:26Oh, Beganovic stops.
08:27Yeah, Beganovic stopping,
08:29coming up to turn three.
08:31We saw smoke coming out the back of the car.
08:33It's gone.
08:35It's gone.
08:36Well, they'd been managing an issue, hadn't they?
08:38You could see the car smoking.
08:41He'd been maintaining the pace of the front runners,
08:44but unfortunately, whatever befell,
08:47Beganovic has finally become terminal
08:49and he has had to pull up to the side of the track.
08:52And Victor in a race against the clock here
08:54to try and get back out there
08:55and serve this penalty.
08:57Right now, this is bringing out another safety car
08:59and close Stenshon's lead back out.
09:02It does.
09:03Safety car is out.
09:04I assume we'll see Belinsky and Miney
09:06come in to take their pit stops,
09:08but Stenshon's lead has now been evaporated
09:11and he's going to go toe-to-toe once again
09:13with his teammate, Alex Dunn, this season.
09:16So this is great for Belinsky and Miney,
09:18who are going to come in and get a very cheap stop
09:20onto the super soft tyre.
09:21We'll see what they can do.
09:22They've got a reasonable amount of race left as well
09:25to play with.
09:26Colton Herter has also just stopped,
09:28so it doesn't hurt him either.
09:30And it will put Nikola Solov up two places.
09:33He could get back on the podium here, Alex.
09:35He could even challenge for a race win.
09:37In comes Belinsky.
09:38That's for his mandatory stop.
09:41So this is about as well as this could have worked out
09:44for those drivers who got caught out earlier on
09:47on the alternative strategy.
09:49So we've kind of honoured even the two strategies here.
09:52It's not the fastest stop in the world, is it,
09:53for Damms and Belinsky.
09:55Oh, they're having to hold him now
09:57as a couple of other drivers roll through.
10:00Noel Leon is coming in.
10:02Marie Boyer is coming in as well.
10:04So are we seeing drivers go for super softs there
10:06in Noel Leon, I wonder?
10:08So I think we've seen drivers stick the other set
10:10of super softs back on.
10:11So they get three sets of soft,
10:12two sets of super soft.
10:14Drivers who are out of the running here
10:16are kind of sprint race style,
10:19sticking the super soft back on.
10:20Just because they're out of contention anyway,
10:22they think it'll be faster.
10:23That's what's going on with Noel Leon,
10:25who's now made two tyre change stops in this race.
10:28Rafa Kamara is going to come back out
10:30and we'll see if he continues the rest of the race.
10:33He's going to serve that five-second stop, isn't he,
10:36under the safety car.
10:37And then, really, this will be a test session
10:40for him after that.
10:41But out front, we've got Stenshaw, Dunn,
10:44Mini, Miney, who we'll expect to come in,
10:47Dirksen, Solov, what a recovery drive he's putting in.
10:50Then we've got Sebastian Montoya,
10:52who started 18th place.
10:53Oh!
10:57Tell who?
11:05We all know what happened last time, of course.
11:07They had that incident at Australia
11:09and we'll want to now work together.
11:12Mary Boy, what happened there is the question.
11:14He's found himself in a bit of an unusual position.
11:17I think it's exactly the same as Befell Fittipaldi.
11:20Absolutely cold tyres out of the pit lane
11:22and he's just come out on the track
11:25and just gone straight off there, Mary Boy,
11:26even at safety car speed.
11:28It must be treacherous out onto the racetrack.
11:31So, Boyer, Leon and Hertha have come in
11:33and are, if they can make it,
11:36going to rejoin the rear of the field.
11:39Belinsky has also come in for the super soft tyre.
11:41They are all, you can see them,
11:43lined up at the back of the pack,
11:45but with a new set of super soft tyres.
11:48Is this what's going to happen to Mary Boyer?
11:50Yeah.
11:53And operating in minus grip there, isn't he, unfortunately?
11:57Yeah.
11:58He'd be very disappointed with that, won't he?
12:01And we've got the car there of Avdino Biganovic.
12:05It's just not been a good weekend for Mary Boyer
12:07and that one just about sums it up for him.
12:10So, this is now going to be a sprint to the line,
12:13as you said, Alex,
12:14and it will be led by Martinius Stenshaw
12:16and yet to win in F2.
12:17A chance for here to change that in this last 10 laps.
12:21Rubik's Cube of a Formula 2 race.
12:23It's going to be tricky to get the soft tyre back underway again.
12:28And if they can build some temperature in it,
12:30the super soft tyre will surely be the hot ticket here
12:34when they go back to Green Flag running again.
12:37Looks like we're going to have nine laps left.
12:41No indication that the safety car is going to be in this lap
12:44and, indeed, the car of Dino Biganovic
12:46was still sat there
12:47as they rolled through the first sector last time around.
12:50Well, we didn't get to hear from Kashmaini last time.
12:53Let's go in here from him this time
12:55about the conditions here in Canada.
13:00Cooler is better for the car to run.
13:02I think it's always quicker.
13:03Better for the tyres to not overheat, et cetera.
13:05Obviously not too cool, but this is quite perfect.
13:08I would say this track is quite low-energy-ish.
13:11Not a lot of long corners,
13:14a lot of breakings,
13:15but a lot of chicanes, a lot of slow speed.
13:18So I don't think tyres is going to be a big issue.
13:20Obviously, I don't think DEG is going to be an issue at all.
13:22It's going to be more the overheating,
13:24but way better than it was in Miami.
13:26I think Miami, because of the heat,
13:28the temperature of the tarmac, it was quite tricky,
13:30but here I think it's going to be a different story.
13:32Obviously, we have quite soft compounds
13:33with the super soft and soft,
13:35so that's something interesting to look at.
13:38But I think overall,
13:40it's always exciting going into a new track
13:41because we all start from zero and we all learn,
13:44and whoever learns quicker and puts it all together,
13:46obviously in the short amount of time we have,
13:48normally is ahead.
13:50Kushminey there, fourth,
13:52yet to make the compulsory stop there.
13:53He's taken those tyres a long way,
13:56and I don't think this will be
13:57a really quick clear-up process as well.
13:59Is he just waiting for as long as he can
14:01before coming in and putting those super soft tyres on?
14:04Would lead to a beneficial warm-up
14:06with the track slightly drier
14:07and a little bit less degradation
14:09through to the end of the race for Miney?
14:13But, yeah, apart from that,
14:17there wouldn't be any reason
14:18why he would wait any longer than this.
14:21Yes, he just recognises that
14:23he just needs to do something completely different
14:26from the rest of the field.
14:29Yeah, he's been threatening to rain all race,
14:32hasn't it, as well?
14:32But this is a good recovery, I have to say,
14:34from Nikola Solov,
14:36who is up there in P6.
14:37We're going to fifth,
14:39and he's not far away from those two.
14:41Out front, Nikola Solov
14:43will be looking to try and recover the lead,
14:46particularly with Kamara,
14:47out, Van Hoopen, out as well.
14:49We've had some big names fall down the order.
14:52Beganovic, likewise,
14:52so this is a great opportunity
14:54championship-wise here for Solov,
14:56and he kind of needs to be near Miney as well.
14:58The two of them have been fighting
14:59for that championship lead.
15:00Now, the race story there,
15:02graphic for Nikola Solov,
15:04doesn't quite do justice, does it,
15:05to the full race story of the driver
15:08who ended up second
15:09in last year's Formula 3 championship,
15:12Red Bull Junior,
15:13full race at the end of last year
15:14with Campos.
15:18Gave some really creditable performances
15:20and has had his fair share of misfortune in this one,
15:23but has kept on battling
15:25in the second of two gritty races
15:31around Montreal for the Formula 2 drivers.
15:35It's been a keep-going fest, hasn't it?
15:37Yeah.
15:37For all of these drivers,
15:40various ups and downs,
15:4131 laps of 39 underweight.
15:46Let's see how they're getting on
15:47with Dino Viganovic when we get around there.
15:49Got a feel for him, by the way,
15:50out of the race with a technical issue
15:52and what would have surely been the opportunity
15:55for a podium for Dino Viganovic.
15:59Yeah, we saw him get polled, didn't we,
16:01in Australia and suffered misfortune there
16:03and Dino Viganovic looking on
16:06to challenge for a win here
16:07and that's a real shame,
16:09but there's still a long way to go in this season.
16:11This is only round three of 14
16:14and Rodin watching on from the pit wall,
16:17one and two currently in this race,
16:19but they are queuing up behind.
16:21Mini there, Dirksen there as well,
16:23Solov.
16:25Montoya has moved all the way up to seventh,
16:26Kian Shields up to eighth, Verone ninth.
16:29Gertha once again making good progress up to P10.
16:32It'd be a great day for Rodin, wouldn't it?
16:34Team that came into this one eighth
16:37in the team's championship.
16:39A great haul of points for them.
16:42Martina Stenshaw on 13th
16:43in the driver's championship at the moment.
16:47Leads the race.
16:49Alex Dunstead's tenth,
16:51having put two podiums on the board so far
16:54this season.
16:58A Rodin one, two,
17:00and that's pit stop corrected.
17:02We're still, we believe,
17:05waiting for Maini
17:07to make his pit stop.
17:10They've been up,
17:11the whole flurry of pit stops
17:12at different times,
17:13but we believe he's held
17:16those tyres from the start
17:18and has not yet pitted in fourth position.
17:21That would be a first one, two for Rodin.
17:24First at this level in six seasons.
17:27Let's see if they can go and get themselves
17:30as Rodin Motorsport,
17:31particularly a one-two finish for the first time
17:34in Formula Two.
17:35Through the final chicane,
17:37we go.
17:39It's going to be a dash to the line,
17:41this, isn't it?
17:42DRS will come open quite quickly.
17:44We've seen how powerful it is,
17:47and it's starting to look quite similar
17:49to what we had in Miami now,
17:52albeit in dry conditions.
17:53We're going to see a real tussle here
17:56for the race win.
17:58Reminder then,
17:59drivers who've just been in,
18:01Balinski, Leon, Herter and Boyer.
18:03Kamara has been in,
18:04but for somewhat of a longer time,
18:05they've sent him out there
18:06just to recover his penalty.
18:08Lapped cars have been told
18:10they can now overtake the safety car,
18:13so we'll have to try their best
18:15to get round
18:17before the safety car goes back to green.
18:20Can you at least tell me what the plan is?
18:22Like, what are we trying to do?
18:23We're trying to wait for a rain, mate,
18:26so to keep the track position,
18:27and so if it rains,
18:29everyone has to stop,
18:30so we keep the track position, you know?
18:33Yeah, that's the only reason, isn't it,
18:35that you could retain.
18:37Otherwise, you'd always take,
18:39with this money lapsed to go,
18:42a safety car for a stop to soft.
18:46They obviously realise that he cannot,
18:50even if they put him on the soft tyre,
18:52now get a result.
18:54So Kamara's going to go by the safety car.
18:56That's the lapsed car able to overtake,
19:00and if he's able to get back round,
19:02he's going to turn up with steamy hot tyres,
19:04which he's going to enjoy,
19:05but it's not going to be very beneficial
19:08because he's three laps down
19:11on the next car,
19:12four laps down on the lead.
19:13So he's just putting himself,
19:14they're just kind of putting him
19:15to the back of the queue here,
19:16aren't they?
19:17So he's not impeding on the race
19:19that's happening ahead,
19:21and he'll go back round,
19:22and he might as well stay out there
19:25to the end of the race.
19:26It's a data collection, isn't it?
19:28Their first time racing here,
19:30and it would all help
19:32if a return happens
19:34going forward to Canada.
19:36And what a show they've put on
19:37across Miami, Canada.
19:38They weren't on our calendar
19:39at the beginning of the year,
19:41but I think as fans,
19:43we've all really enjoyed
19:44having them on the calendar so far.
19:47The racing they've produced
19:47has been absolutely fantastic.
19:49T'was ever thus with Formula 2.
19:52You very, very rarely
19:54get a dull Formula 2 race,
19:56and if you do,
19:56it's not for long.
19:57No.
19:59Even those that are
20:00slightly slower in the middle
20:01have a sting in the tail.
20:04Leon has been noted
20:06for speeding in the pit lane.
20:09That's the most recent
20:11of the race control messages
20:13at the moment.
20:14So, no, Leon,
20:17unfortunately, picked up for that.
20:18That's almost always a slam dunk.
20:23And as the squirrels
20:25of this world desperately flee
20:28from the Formula 2 pack,
20:30we are surely ready
20:33to go racing again.
20:35Well, what's going to be
20:36going through St. John's mind now?
20:37What will be his plan here?
20:39We've seen a lot of drivers
20:40going early,
20:41and that seems to have been
20:41effective on restarts so far.
20:43It certainly does.
20:44I've seen a bit of both.
20:46No, Leon was utterly brilliant
20:47on the restarts yesterday.
20:49Caught Gabriele Mini napping
20:50on the second one.
20:53Speaking of, No, Leon,
20:53unfortunately,
20:55a minor commentator's curse
20:57because he's just received
20:58a five-second penalty
20:59for speeding in the pit lane.
21:01And that's having pitted
21:03and thrown on
21:04the super soft tyre.
21:06So, giving him a bit
21:06of extra work to do,
21:09we're still under safety car here.
21:11We've not been told
21:12the safety car...
21:13Yes, we have.
21:13We've been told the safety car's
21:14in this lap,
21:15which is why it's coming in
21:16this lap.
21:17And we're going back
21:17to racing conditions
21:18with Martinius Stenshorn
21:20at the helm.
21:20Well, Alex Dunn on the radio
21:22to Rodin telling Stenshorn
21:24just to go
21:25and he will go with him.
21:26This could be a very effective race
21:27for both of them
21:28championship-wise,
21:29but Mini is right there,
21:31championship leader as well.
21:32Down towards the final corner
21:34we go,
21:35and we're going to go back racing.
21:36It's going to be a dash
21:38to the line
21:38in the Formula 2 feature race
21:40here in Calendar.
21:41Who will make it
21:43to the flag first?
21:44A great restart
21:44from Martinius Stenshorn
21:46just trying to get heat
21:47into those tyres.
21:48It's the two Alpine juniors
21:50very close together.
21:51There's three of them.
21:52Remember, Cushmine needs to come
21:53and have a compulsory pit stop.
21:55He is waiting for rain,
21:57but he has Dirksen
21:57all over the back of him
21:59and a recovering
22:00Nikola Solov as well
22:01trying to get through.
22:02Yeah, Dirksen held up badly
22:03by Mini on the apex there,
22:05and he's going to have a look then
22:06down towards the apex
22:07at turn three,
22:08and Solov's going to follow him through.
22:10Is he able to make it?
22:11Yes, he is.
22:12Mini really under pressure now
22:13on that very old set of tyres.
22:15Has Montoya, the next driver,
22:16trying to make the move?
22:17Yeah, there's just no grip
22:18in those tyres at all, is there?
22:20It's all falling apart
22:21for Cushmine in this race.
22:22He's just been told
22:23to try and keep track position
22:25as Nico Verone
22:26now trying to go around
22:27the outside of Oliguertha.
22:28Miata is there
22:29in the background as well,
22:31and Stenshorn has broken
22:32the DRS, Alex,
22:34to Alex Dunn.
22:36Rocket restart
22:37from Stenshorn.
22:38He's 1.4 seconds
22:40to the good,
22:40and that'll surely put Dunn
22:42under pressure from Gabriele Mini
22:43when DRS is enabled
22:45because that gap
22:46isn't quite big enough.
22:47You've got Dirksen then
22:48under pressure
22:49from Solov down to 10.
22:50Nikola Solov is absolutely flying.
22:52We've got a yellow flag out
22:54very briefly,
22:55so back to the race
22:56and we go,
22:56and on board
22:57we go with the Bulgarian driver,
22:59Nikola Solov,
23:00trying to get by
23:01Joshua Dirksen.
23:02This is now going to be
23:02a time race.
23:03As you can see
23:04to the top left,
23:04three minutes
23:05plus the additional lap.
23:06Solov trying to take it
23:07around the outside
23:08of Dirksen.
23:09We've got Cushmine
23:10that is coming into pit lane,
23:12but it's as you were then
23:13between Dirksen and Solov.
23:15So,
23:15Mine finally pits.
23:17Solov looking quicker
23:17than Dirksen.
23:18Can he make his way
23:19back to the podium
23:20having had the contretemps
23:22with Mine
23:22earlier on in the race?
23:24That'll be a splendid drive
23:25if he can,
23:26and he looks like
23:27he's got the grip
23:27and purchase
23:28up the inside of turn two.
23:30A podium position
23:31possibly on the cards here
23:32for Solov
23:33and for Dirksen
23:34though as well.
23:35Solov is looking
23:36very quick,
23:37very feisty out there.
23:38Gabriele Mini seemingly
23:39cannot stay
23:40with the roading
23:41of Alex Dunn.
23:42Oh,
23:43Oli Gertha
23:44now out of the race.
23:45That looks like
23:46a relatively big impact,
23:47doesn't it,
23:48for Oli Gertha.
23:49Good to see him
23:50jump out of the car
23:51immediately
23:51back to safety car
23:55with the last
23:56two minutes
23:57and 13 seconds
23:58on the clock.
24:00And you imagine
24:01that will be that
24:02for this feature race,
24:03won't you,
24:04Oli Gertha?
24:04Good to see him
24:05jumping out of the car
24:06because,
24:07as you said,
24:07it appeared to be
24:08some damage.
24:09Now that's coming out
24:10the hairpin,
24:11isn't it?
24:11Yeah.
24:11Going on to the straight.
24:12So,
24:13what's happened there?
24:15Oh,
24:15well there,
24:16I think that could be
24:16our answer.
24:17Miata has lost
24:18his front wing.
24:19Yeah.
24:20It's not
24:22Inspector Clouseau stuff,
24:23is it,
24:23to work out
24:23what's going on there.
24:24and so,
24:26Miata's up the inside.
24:28And Gertha's going to
24:29swing through the apex
24:30of turn 11
24:31and just not quite give,
24:34I'm not sure he's
24:35entirely aware
24:36he's alongside him there,
24:37but he's just not quite
24:38given Miata
24:40enough space
24:42as they come back
24:43across the track.
24:45Shame for Oli Gertha.
24:47He had Charles Hsu
24:48and up towards
24:48the points positions.
24:50That will now go to Leon
24:51who has a penalty,
24:52of course,
24:52so Hertha
24:53looks like he'll be
24:54in the points
24:54in a feature race
24:55once again.
24:57The safety car is out
24:58and that will come
24:59as good news
24:59to Rodin Motorsport
25:00and particularly
25:01to Martini Estential.
25:02Martini Estential
25:03had the restart
25:04very much under control,
25:06but I think it was
25:08Dirksen who was
25:08most under pressure
25:09from Solov,
25:10if I'm honest,
25:11and it's very likely now
25:13that this one will end
25:15under the safety car.
25:17You can get a feel
25:17for this driver's standings
25:18with Gabriele Mini
25:20retaining the lead,
25:21but Solov jumping
25:23back up to second place
25:25in the championship.
25:30So this was
25:32the moment
25:33between Solov.
25:35It's Kushmine
25:36ahead there,
25:36isn't it?
25:37And he
25:38follows him down
25:38the inside.
25:39What an overtake
25:40that is from Solov.
25:41Yeah,
25:41completely instinctive stuff
25:43down the inside
25:44of turn three.
25:45If you don't go
25:46for a gap
25:46and all that.
25:48Yeah,
25:49absolutely that.
25:50So it will be
25:51this and one more
25:52for the race.
25:54A shame that
25:55we end under
25:56the safety car,
25:57but of course
25:57we need to get
25:58the cars cleaned
25:59up safely
26:00and we can only
26:02have so long
26:02before the chequered flag
26:04has to fall.
26:04It's 60 minutes
26:05plus a lap
26:05in Formula 2.
26:07Clock then
26:08running out.
26:09I can't see a way
26:10that they're going
26:10to rectify the incident
26:14down at turn 11.
26:18Ben Huntingford's squad
26:19will be very,
26:21very satisfied
26:22with their performance
26:25and the performance
26:26of their drivers
26:27kept their heads cool
26:28and kept their cars
26:30out of trouble
26:32in a full-on race
26:38of attrition
26:38really
26:39in Formula 2.
26:41You can see
26:41the finishing order
26:42the left-hand side
26:4313,
26:44well,
26:44call it 14,
26:45but realistically
26:46Kamara out of the race.
26:4714 of 21 cars
26:51that started
26:52run at the flag
26:54which gives you
26:56a feel
26:56for just what
26:58an eventful race
26:59that was
27:01for the Formula 2
27:03drivers.
27:05Through the chicane.
27:07There you go.
27:08And on to the last lap
27:09and for Rodin Motorsport,
27:11this will be their
27:11first one to finish
27:13under the Rodin Motorsport
27:14name,
27:15so a hugely proud day
27:17for them, Alex.
27:18This will be a race
27:19they remember
27:20for a very long time.
27:21Coming to a new track,
27:23it is a real,
27:23I think it's been
27:24a real battle of wars,
27:26isn't it,
27:26in terms of who's going
27:26to get it strategically
27:27correct and they've won
27:29on this day.
27:29Especially in those
27:30conditions,
27:32just the rain
27:33that never quite came,
27:36well advertised
27:37at 90%,
27:38and it did rain,
27:41but just not quite
27:42ever hard enough
27:43to need the wet
27:45conditions
27:45and the wet tyre
27:47for them.
27:49So,
27:50Pitbull kept on their toes,
27:52the drivers kept
27:52on their toes,
27:53and there's no doubt
27:54a sequence of those
27:55laps were affected
27:57by the slightly
27:58damp conditions
27:59as well
28:00and they've done
28:01a,
28:02those who have
28:03managed to finish
28:04that one
28:04have done a fantastic
28:05job
28:06to keep the cars
28:07in one piece.
28:08Leon and Kamara
28:09will cross the line
28:10and have their penalties
28:11applied
28:11at the end of the race
28:13so they won't roll on
28:14to the next event.
28:17Yeah,
28:18and that is why
28:18we've got Kamara
28:19still out there
28:20essentially,
28:21otherwise they do
28:21roll on
28:22to that next event
28:24in Monaco,
28:26which is not a place
28:27you want a good job
28:27at all.
28:29Martinius Stenshaw
28:30got his first
28:31F2 podium
28:32yesterday.
28:33Alex and Alexander,
28:33he is driven
28:34like someone
28:35as he appeared
28:36in Formula 2.
28:38This is his first
28:39full season
28:40and he's starting
28:41to look a real threat.
28:42You can see the impact
28:43for him championship-wise.
28:45It's going to come
28:45right into championship
28:46contention.
28:47Mini's driving like a,
28:48a driver who,
28:50he's really been driving
28:51like a championship leader
28:52this weekend,
28:53doesn't he?
28:53He really has.
28:54Cool customer.
28:56Martinius Stenshaw,
28:57Gabriele Mini,
28:59affable,
29:00friendly character
29:02about the paddock.
29:04Both great guys.
29:05It's going to be
29:06Stenshaw's day.
29:08A brilliant drive.
29:09Deserves more than
29:10an ending under
29:11the safety car,
29:11but that's what
29:12he's going to get.
29:13There'll be more days
29:14like this for Martinius
29:15Stenshaw,
29:16but this will be
29:16his first win
29:17in Formula 2
29:19and a first
29:191-2 finish
29:21for the Rodin
29:22and Motogrod
29:23as well.
29:24What a day for them.
29:25One they will remember
29:26for a very long time,
29:28but out front it is
29:29Martinius Stenshaw
29:30who takes his
29:31first Formula 2 win.
29:32A long wait for him
29:34to get his podium.
29:35It felt like so
29:36with the performance
29:36he's put in,
29:37but now he gets
29:38a deserved first win
29:40in Formula 2
29:41and I highlight
29:41a first win.
29:42There'll be more for him.
29:43Handshakes on the pit
29:44wall at Rodin.
29:45They put the car
29:45underneath both drivers
29:46this weekend.
29:48First time here
29:49in Montreal.
29:50Huge amount
29:51of data
29:52to be crunched.
29:53Huge amount
29:53of understanding
29:54to be done
29:55and they've really
29:56demonstrated
29:56in all sessions
29:57excellence there.
30:00Come on.
30:02Oh, that feels good, man.
30:04Oh, what a race.
30:06What a race.
30:07Thank you so much, guys.
30:09Thank you.
30:10That's a great job, mate.
30:11Well done.
30:11Really good for the team
30:12in a 1-2 as well.
30:15Yeah, 1-2 finish.
30:16Well done for Rodin Motorsport.
30:18They've had a bit of a
30:19difficult start to the season
30:20at times, hasn't they?
30:21But they're well
30:22and truly back in it
30:23in both the drivers
30:24and teams championship now.
30:25You couldn't write this stuff.
30:27It's written all over the...
30:29It's all over the tone
30:31of their voice there,
30:32isn't it?
30:33Tega drive, mate.
30:34Tega.
30:35Well done, everyone.
30:36You all deserve it
30:37and so does Martini.
30:38So, well done.
30:42That's nice from Alex Dunn,
30:43isn't it?
30:45Really good that he's happy
30:47for his teammate Martinius
30:48and working together,
30:50those two are going to be
30:51a really hard package to beat,
30:52I have to say.
30:53Yeah.
30:54Solid sick position in that one.
30:55Alex Dunn,
30:56difficult day yesterday.
30:57Bit of contact in the sprint race.
31:01He's done a great job there
31:03and got himself onto the podium.
31:05Good day for Gabriele Mini.
31:07Dirksen, Solov,
31:09strong drivers
31:10at the front of the field.
31:11Yeah.
31:11You can tell that that one
31:13was a to keep the car
31:16and pointing in
31:18the correct direction.
31:21I've got a turn 14 incident
31:22involving Belinsky
31:23under investigation
31:24for leaving the track
31:26and gaining an advantage.
31:28He finished in ninth
31:29at the end
31:30on the reverse strategy.
31:32Yes.
31:34It will hurt her.
31:36That's going to drop him down,
31:38isn't it?
31:38So everyone's going to move up
31:39so Boyer will go into the points
31:41in 11th place.
31:43So he will lose fourth
31:45which puts Solov up to fifth,
31:47up to fourth rather,
31:49Montoya up to fifth.
31:50So I've had a real shame
31:51for him right at the end
31:52to get that 10 second penalty.
31:54Yeah.
31:55So we're hearing as well
31:56that Dirksen,
31:57Dirksen has a 10 second penalty
31:59and Belinsky has a 10 second penalty
32:00so two penalties coming in.
32:01after the flag,
32:04Stenshawn Dunn,
32:05Mini, Solov,
32:06Montoya Shields,
32:07Verone, Hertha,
32:09Boyer,
32:09Maini,
32:10the top 10.
32:12Wow.
32:13Well,
32:15Martini Stenshawn
32:16took his first F2 podium yesterday
32:18and he moves up
32:19to the top step today.
32:20What a day for him
32:21and what a day
32:22for Rodin Motorsport.
32:23A one-two finish
32:24for them.
32:26The two drive
32:27working together
32:28very well
32:29and on a weekend
32:30where it was all about
32:31who could learn
32:31the track fastest,
32:32who could learn
32:33the strategy fastest,
32:34Martini Stenshawn
32:35has been a real
32:36standout driver
32:38this weekend.
32:38He might not have had
32:39the start to the season
32:40he deserved
32:41but he's shown
32:43he has the pace
32:44to challenge
32:45for race wins
32:46on a regular basis.
32:48Alex Dunn,
32:49well done to him as well.
32:50It's not been the feature races
32:52for Rodin Motorsport
32:53has it so far this season
32:54but they now go
32:55and put that right here
32:56at round three
32:56with maximum points
32:58and behind them
32:59championship leader
33:00Gabriele Mini.
33:01A sequence,
33:02a hat-trick
33:03of podiums then
33:04for Gabriele Mini
33:05winning the feature race
33:06in Miami second yesterday
33:08and then finds himself
33:09at third place today.
33:12Unsurprising then
33:12that he's taken
33:13the lead of the championship
33:15and retained it
33:16this weekend.
33:17A brilliant run of races
33:18for him.
33:19Another fine drive
33:21and some leading drivers
33:25are starting to form
33:26aren't they
33:26in this championship
33:27of pecking order
33:28beginning to take shape
33:30now.
33:31Gabriele Mini
33:31very much part of that
33:33with this sequence of drives.
33:35Yeah, he's been in the points
33:36in all six races
33:37so far this season.
33:38The only one to do that
33:39Gabriele Mini.
33:41Consistency is always key
33:42isn't it?
33:43Whatever level you're racing at
33:44and he's been showing that.
33:45The road in motorsport
33:46they would have had
33:47two long trips home
33:48after two double DNFs
33:49in feature races
33:50but now it's a one-two
33:51and our winner
33:52is with Alex Jakes.
33:54Let's hear from Martinius.
33:56Martinius,
33:57you are a Formula 2 winner
33:59on a very difficult day
34:01to come out on top.
34:03You've done it.
34:03Tell us your overriding emotions.
34:05Yeah, it feels amazing.
34:07It's been...
34:08We've had so much pace
34:10so far this season
34:10and the future races
34:12just hasn't worked out
34:13like we wanted
34:14so it's an amazing feeling
34:16to stand here today
34:17and have the win.
34:18It was an extremely
34:19difficult race as well.
34:20We had a bit of
34:21all kind of conditions
34:22so yeah,
34:23coming over to the win
34:24feels very good.
34:25You seem to be
34:26very comfortable
34:27once you hit the front.
34:28Tell us why
34:29because it seems
34:30so tough out there.
34:31Yeah, the pace
34:32was just extremely good today.
34:34A big thank you
34:35to Rodin Motorsport
34:36for the car.
34:38Without them
34:38it wouldn't be possible
34:39so yeah,
34:41the pace was really good.
34:42I felt really good
34:43with the car
34:44in these tricky conditions
34:45so yeah, amazing.
34:47Tell me the overriding emotions
34:48when you had that
34:49late safety car restart.
34:51You must have been thinking
34:52that's the last thing I need.
34:53Yeah,
34:54I was pushing quite hard
34:56before that
34:56to keep the gap to Dino
34:59and then of course
35:00when he stopped
35:00I had a big gap
35:02so it was...
35:03I was not very happy
35:04but yeah,
35:05we did a new safety car restart
35:06and it was very good
35:07and after that
35:08the pace was very good as well
35:09so yeah,
35:10I can't thank the team enough.
35:12Go and enjoy the podium
35:13our newest F2 winner
35:15Martinius Stenshorn.
35:16Well done.
35:18What a comeback
35:19in terms of feature races
35:20for Rodin Motorsport
35:21and what a weekend
35:23for Martinius Stenshorn.
35:25Two trips to the podium
35:26and he wins
35:27and takes
35:27full 25 points
35:29on Grand Prix Sunday.
35:31Couldn't go much better than that.
35:33Chilled out dude,
35:34isn't he?
35:35Yeah.
35:35Martinius Stenshorn.
35:36He...
35:38He's...
35:39And a calm head
35:40was what was needed.
35:42What are your overriding emotions?
35:44Well, some now
35:46but probably not too many
35:48in the car
35:48when he was managing
35:49the incredibly difficult conditions
35:52out on track.
35:53Dealt with it
35:54like a seasoned veteran
35:57there
35:58in front of
35:59the very, very knowledgeable crowd
36:01we have
36:02at one of Formula One's
36:04oldest venues.
36:33I don't understand.
36:34What happened to Van Open?
36:41It's a shame.
36:42Ayyayyay.
36:43That's so sad.
36:44It did a really good weekend.
36:46It's a shame.
36:47It's a shame.
36:48It's a shame.
36:48Yeah, here.
36:49This one.
36:50Look!
36:50Where I am.
36:51Everyone exploded.
36:52Look!
36:55Good job, man.
36:56Thank you.
36:57You too.
36:57That's a touch.
36:58Mate, poor Dino.
36:59Again.
37:00Yeah, what happened?
37:01He just stopped.
37:01He broke the engine.
37:02He was...
37:03Yeah, look.
37:04Like this for two laps.
37:05He's really unlucky, man.
37:06Poor guy, man.
37:07He was quite quick as well.
37:09Wait, this is me?
37:10Yeah.
37:10That was Dino?
37:11That was...
37:13Okay.
37:13They broke?
37:14No.
37:14I was lost.
37:15Oh no!
37:19There's a lot in the pit stuff?
37:21Yeah.
37:32He was so quick.
37:34I was like trying to push, but you were a lot quicker.
37:37Well, after the...
37:38After the double sack, I was beat 13.
37:42By the way, the people.
37:44It's been nice to hear the thoughts of Gabriele Mini in both cool-down rooms this weekend.
37:49It is the Gabriele Mini podcast, isn't it?
37:51Yeah.
37:52He's the host, definitely.
37:54Yeah.
37:54He could come after our jobs.
37:55Of that particular show.
37:57And you.
37:58How was your race?
37:59And how about you?
38:01It's fab stuff for Gabriele Mini.
38:03But, you know, if you keep on delivering the podiums, you keep on ending up in the cool-down room.
38:09It's been a brilliant run of races.
38:11He's done a brilliant job.
38:14So much happened in that one.
38:16I'm surprised that they were finding the replays interesting.
38:21And is it time for the rain to finally come that we were forecasting for the whole race?
38:27I think it is.
38:28There's some ponchos going on in the grandstands.
38:30Just in time for the podium, but it managed to stay away mostly throughout the whole race.
38:34Brilliant job then for Gabriele Mini, who will jump onto the third step.
38:38Six points finishes in a row for Gabriele Mini.
38:41And three podium finishes in a row as well.
38:44Fellow Alpine Junior, Alex Dunn out there onto the podium.
38:49This is the start of his recovery in this championship.
38:53And likewise for Martinius Stenchorn.
38:55Two double DNFs for road and motorsport in feature races.
38:58But they've now changed that to a 1-2 finish here in Canada.
39:20What do you think?
39:35The two of our stars were changed.
39:36The two of our stars were changed.
39:37But they were changed that way.
39:39To the past where everybody was on for a long time.
39:39Do you think you played the table in the last year?
39:39There's two interesting destinations.
39:49We were
