00:05is Malik neighbors going to be healthy enough to play week one is he going to lose his
00:10explosiveness will he and Jackson Dart have chemistry when he returns there's so many
00:16questions surrounding Malik neighbors knee coming off that ACL injury and if he'll be able to be
00:22the guy for Jackson Dart like he was for what five other quarterbacks in his short NFL career
00:29if Malik comes back and that knee is both game and season ready then here's what Jackson Dart
00:36and Giants fans can expect from their alpha wide receiver in 2026 in this blue rush player breakdown
00:47yes sir I get excited when we get to break down the wide receivers especially when we get to break
00:53down an elite wide receiver like Malik neighbors Russell Wilson is the quarterback here
00:58but let's pretend that this is Jackson Dart and he gets his alpha he gets his wide receiver one
01:06his stud wide receiver back healthy and back to an elite standard this is what we can expect from
01:13Dart and Malik neighbors in Jackson Dart second year so we're going to play this first one
01:19Cowboys game we remember a lot of plays that this kid made made throughout the course of this game
01:24this loss can't believe they lost this game but let's move on you got Trayvon Diggs one of the
01:30premier corners in the NFL or at least he used to be just runs right by him on the goal
01:35route
01:35Moonball delivered exactly where it's supposed to be and on a third and one you don't make this throw
01:42on third and one unless you got the guy that you know can come down with the throw that has
01:48a low
01:49probability rate in terms of getting it completed this is a low percentage throw in terms of what
01:56you would want to throw on third and one but you love the matchup you love the receiver or the
02:02player
02:03in this position Jimmy's and Joe's over X's and O's when we're talking third and fourth down
02:09now one thing I love about Malik neighbors is his suddenness he has an explosion and you're hoping
02:15this is not something that doesn't come back with him immediately coming back from the ACL surgery
02:22or the ACL injury got the plus two split from the top of the numbers gives a little shimmy at
02:29the
02:29line of scrimmage a little hesitation to line him up to to head him up because initially Trayvon is
02:35playing some sort of outside coverage it looks like it's going to be some sort of man to man some
02:40sort
02:40of man free cover one I believe I'll uh I will confirm it as we snap the rock here but
02:47Trayvon
02:47has an outside leverage type he has outs he's playing outside leverage trying to take away the
02:54outside Malik gives the hesitation off of the line and goes to the outside attacks that leverage and ends
03:04up being head up now what you see a lot of receivers do now is they'll try and bow and
03:10run
03:10away from the contact or they'll just simply try and just beat one half of this corner's body but
03:17look at how explosive he is and Jackson Dart has a receiver that can get open fast that can win
03:24at
03:24the line of scrimmage really fast so when he puts that right foot into the ground because Trayvon looks
03:30like he's trying to play that slant on the third and one like he rightfully should be or rightfully
03:36could because Malik neighbors ran a lot of slants now he hesitates puts his foot into the ground and
03:43gives a little hesitation to like he's gonna run the slant and now he goes and gets right into the
03:49go route now I would love to see with him winning so early I'd love to see the ball up
03:53now but hey I
03:55mean this is this is moon ball special right here I want you guys to watch this next seven yards
04:02you see
04:02from the 50 they're here at the what was that the 43 43 yard line to the 50 yard line
04:10I want you to
04:10watch this burst in this select separation this is elite and you want a wide receiver that can get this
04:17type of separation now the only red ink I would give is I would like to see him hold his
04:22line a little
04:23bit more here so he can be thrown on the outs opposite side on the outside shoulder this shoulder
04:28right here throw it up and over that's just me being ticky tack right now but he wins he knows
04:34he has the speed he knows he kept enough sideline enough real estate for Russell Wilson to throw that
04:40ball up and over plus knowing that you're Malik neighbors and the reason why he's probably fading
04:49away a little bit is because once this once this safety this middle of the field safety sees Russell
04:56Wilson turn and look turn his way he's going to now beeline to try and make some sort of contact
05:03and meet him there blow him up or at least get in phase on that ball so Malik looking back
05:10now is
05:11expecting this ball to be up and over right away because he wins gets away from this safety enough to
05:19where he can't be in phase good ball drops it in the bucket he's got enough separation or he's won
05:28with enough separation on this throw that this now this club hand this last resort for Trayvon Diggs to
05:36impact this play this last hand this rip has is not in phase all he's able to do with that
05:44right hand
05:44is trip him up you survived the fall on their sideline as a wide receiver who just made a big
05:53play on a third down to keep the chains moving what are we gonna do not call Ghostbusters we're
05:59gonna celebrate do it do it leak leak all right one thing about Brian Dable's offense last year
06:09it was very complex you can you heard Wondell Robinson say it you heard Malik Nabors uh say it
06:15uh before it's how complex this offense is well what was and now Matt Nagy I feel as though has
06:22to
06:22simplify it but also keep some of those complex complexities and this is what I mean this is
06:29called scheming your guy open and again this is Russell Wilson but if you're Jackson Dart you know
06:34that Matt Nagy Brian Callahan Greg Roman all masterminds when it comes to offensive philosophies
06:41and schemes are going to find ways to scheme one or one to get the one-on-one watch how
06:49they scheme
06:50this guy open and get a favorable matchup on this route concept motion it over boom boom now this sets
06:58the defense defense has to adjust looks like it's some sort of too high safety look right now all right
07:04let's watch the play now we motion Malik back over that calls this safety to come down but let's
07:13watch the play safety now comes down and he's playing a man-to-man technique you one-on-one with
07:19the safety Malik Nabors one-on-one with the safety you're gonna take it every time so great job Brian
07:27Dable Mike Kafka and crew of scheming your guy open I expect Matt Nagy and crew to do the same
07:35so I just
07:36want to go back to the initial formation and how Matt Nagy can help Jackson Dart and Malik Nabors
07:45by movement by motions and getting favorable matchups for your wide receiver one so right now you see these
07:54guys get to the line of scrimmage it's a three by one right now it's a closed one two three
08:00by one I
08:01believe that's man hurts here uh at the end at the tight end closing out that closing out the line
08:06of
08:06scrimmage what up scat scats in the backfield motion Malik Nabors over you kind of got like a half
08:13motion I don't know what their terminology was for uh for what this would be called for both of these
08:18guys
08:19to go over uh I remember when I was with the Steelers we kind of called it explode um but
08:24like
08:24explode two like meaning explode two what that formation was going to be then we'd have like
08:31the z motion on top of that not here to get into um those type of details but again now
08:37you went from
08:38a closed three by one to now you have a two by two and I kind of mentioned it earlier
08:44it looks like
08:45you got a two high cover four look right now right now you motion him over now what that motion
08:54does
08:54is it turns it back into a closed three by one but it's looking like here now you've checked from
09:03some sort of too high safety look to now it looks like it's man to man and this is a
09:08safety
09:09that is now going down to guard Malik Nabors one-on-one he bumps out corner now takes Darius
09:16Slayton you've got man to man here this this safety rotates to the middle of the field and this corner
09:22on the back side because he didn't travel with Malik Nabors you now have the tight end on the line
09:28of scrimmage the end man on the line of scrimmage one-on-one here's what this does all right you
09:33see
09:33that he stayed in and block you don't green dog meaning he doesn't add on he now goes back into
09:40this kind of deep third and he looks for work you look for any crossing route uh I believe that's
09:46Sanster still Sanster still I forget his name uh he's now playing Darius Slayton outside technique
09:53off the ball he's now man to man on Slayton now you've got Malik Nabors running this post corner
10:01on this safety one-on-one and you've already got him off the motion so it's not like he stopped
10:08got reset and then ran the route you've got him off the motion building some sort of ground you want
10:14him to touch paint here and now you'll watch to see him get vertical now I've now what this means
10:20is
10:21from the coordinator standpoint I have schemed you up I have schemed up my number one guy to get him
10:28against a guy who is not a coverage guy safeties are not coverage guys so I have schemed up a
10:34favorable matchup for my quarterback now in year two again I know that's Russell Wilson but pretend
10:40this is Jackson Dart in year two for my quarterback and my wide receiver to have some sort of success
10:47touches paint gets vertical goes to the post and because this safety the defender is outside
10:57he's not taking that traditional hard three steps to the post because if you do you don't want to get
11:05caught with this defender on your outside as it's now time for you to make this break
11:11so what he does is he gives a little gives a little shoulder gives a little head action
11:16like he's breaking in to run the bang eight or to run the post sticks his foot into the ground
11:22and now
11:23he gets flat comes out flat and wins with all of this space look at the separation that your elite
11:35receiver your wide receiver one just got for your quarterback catches it down the field now you've got
11:43the one-on-one make a god miss or run somebody over and there you go leak see the coach
11:49crump hey I
11:50helped draw that up I I helped in the install and this is the funny part look at Jameis
11:54look at Jameis and went and helped with the football so again scheming him up to be able to get
12:01favorable matchups one we saw it against the premier corner two we see it against against the safety here
12:08watch it one more time uh you see the subtle head movement you see the subtle head nod that has
12:14him
12:14that got him got him he's ready to jump that because I mean you're you're not trained to to play
12:20and to be patient for double moves and he did just enough to get him to move gets low drops
12:27weight and
12:28instead of running it like a traditional post corner to where we would go high take a high angle
12:35this defender is over the top so we have to flatten that so this is something that when Malik gets
12:41back
12:42and Malik is able to run routes he and Jackson are going to have to build that chemistry they're
12:47going to have to build that timing and you only get that through being able to run routes doing
12:52one-on-ones doing seven-on-sevens to get this elite this this timing down so that's what we're
12:58going to that's what you're going to need to see out of those two you're going to have to get
13:02him back
13:02healthy as fast as possible so they can get this type of timing and chemistry down
13:07to where now he knows russell knows here or jackson dart in year two is going to know with
13:13the high defender playing over the top he's not going to try and go up and against his body and
13:19take a high angle he's now going to flatten this route off which is exactly what he did he's breaking
13:25turning in the head ball is out balls there first down giants
13:34last but not least he's a guy that can run the tree you see him run slants you see because
13:40he
13:40gets yack so he's going to run uh shallow crosses he's going to run the unders he's going to run
13:46the
13:46slants he's going to run catch and run type type routes what i'm meaning shorter routes that when he
13:53catches it he's going to run a third of his uh career receiving total or yardage has been yards
14:01come off of yards after catch so right here he's got the deep kitty or the deep stop route and
14:07this
14:07just goes to show how this kid he understands how to get open he understands route discipline and
14:13technique and how to get open for a quarterback again russell wilson here's cowboys again remember
14:19he only played in four games or three and a half games before he he got injured so that's you
14:24know we
14:24don't have that much sample size when it comes to pick selecting plays but let's watch the route
14:29watch the route technique guy can run the tree explosive at the top come down the stem boom
14:39i mean it's not sexy i know you guys probably won't retweet this route but as a receiver as a
14:45quarterback as an offense we're backed up right now we're inside the 15 yard line we're just trying
14:51to stack first downs to get out of here so if we got a punt you're going to be able
14:55to try and get
14:56some sort of coffin punt or or a punt it out of there to where the the other opposing team's
15:02offense now has a longer field to drive but this is about putting together catches and throws like
15:08it's routes on air right now because this defender isn't pressing this has to be a completed ball you
15:15got to complete this ball especially this route against this coverage this cover three coverage
15:21now let's break it down he's at that plus two split again you can run goal routes from there
15:26you can run all types of routes out routes run you can run a majority of the tree from here
15:31curls all
15:32that you see him attacking vertical and one thing about malik what i like what he does is he's he
15:39has
15:40the speed elite speed to be able to tempo his routes so he's not a guy that just comes out
15:45there
15:46running that high four three low four four that he runs he'll tempo his route now watch from the 20
15:52to the 25 there's a couple things he's going to do that i like watch the burst and then watch
15:59how he
15:59attacks the corners blind spot meaning instead of running this this hinge route and and running it
16:07from the inside from where his chest to where this corner can see through the receiver to the
16:14quarterback you now attack that back pad to where you now attack the what we call the blind spot to
16:20where the corner doesn't know where you are when you make your break you're going to see it here watch
16:24the last five yards oh gets so you see how he attacked it gets his foot into the ground and
16:33comes
16:33downhill look at the separation he's not running you're he's not running go route he's still kind of
16:40running to the goal thinking malik's going to try and beat him over the top malik puts his foot into
16:45the ground and that's what i love young receivers at home make sure you are coming downhill coming qb
16:51friendly and what i mean by that is all right he makes his break at the 30 look at this
16:56defender he's
16:57at what the 34 now if he was just to stop and wait on the ball this defender is breaking
17:03on this ball
17:04but he's not and if he's not coming back to the quarterback he doesn't keep this separation
17:10that he naturally has just off of stopping and it's just off of stopping and getting into his break
17:17so watch now pause he's keeping that separation by coming down his stem he's still got three and a half
17:24four yards pause still has three and a half four yards remember he make the break at the 30 he's
17:30catching it here at around the 28 with the ball still not here but he's going to catch it here
17:36at
17:36the 28 so he made his break at the 30 and look at the separation that he's able to keep
17:42by coming
17:44downhill and coming back down to the football now he didn't initially retrace his steps down his stem
17:51because this ball is always going to be thrown towards the outside because you got that buzz you got
17:57that backer that's now has to play curl the flat and get underneath that so you want to throw this
18:03football towards the sideline to where the receivers can come out of it and come down come downhill and
18:10the ball will be away from this underneath defender and you get to keep this separation so one more time
18:16at the top of the break see here separation separation catch and i mean i this is a guy that
18:26could put his
18:27foot into the ground and split that we've seen it this is a guy that could do what odell used
18:32to do and
18:32spin towards the outside of the sideline and then get upfield he has that type of playmaking and yak
18:40stackability in him so if malik neighbors comes back whether it's week one week two week three
18:45and he gets that status of being able to one run the tree to go up for the football three
18:54make
18:54contested catches and four be a guy that can be a catch and run guy jackson dart is gonna love
19:01having an elite receiver like that you know you watch those plays and one of the biggest question
19:12marks that people have had about malik neighbors outside of the knee is will he be able to eat in
19:18matt nagy's offense the way he did in brian dables i mean rookie year the dude had an 18 target
19:24game
19:25he had say in the install and he let people know when he wanted the football but does he get
19:32those
19:33same opportunities and targets with nagy my answer is no but i think malik has more of a supporting cast
19:41around them hit this season than what he's had during his entire time with the giants the ball is
19:47going to be spread around a little bit more to a guy like isaiah likely and darnell moody
19:53127 career receptions for a little over 1400 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his career
20:00with the giants with 514 of those being yak yards so one third of his receiving yards are catch and
20:08run
20:08he can go up and get the football he can run the route tree he can get busy with the
20:14football after
20:15the catch so if he's healthy that's what jackson dart can expect from the man they call
20:21league this 2026 nfl season
