00:00Flash flooding could become one of the biggest weather threats this Memorial Day weekend,
00:04in the Northeast and across the South. The highest risk stretches from Corpus Christi
00:07through Houston, Louisiana, and into western Mississippi. This is where storms may keep
00:11hitting the same areas over and over again, and where up to a foot of rain is possible.
00:17But from central Texas through Tennessee and the western Carolinas, several more inches of rain will
00:21fall, and anyone on this map could see ponding or flash flooding. Some of the same places that
00:26already dealt with flooding earlier this week could get hit again, meaning saturated ground and
00:30faster flooding, not just in Texas and Atlanta, but in the Northeast too. Rounds of rain are expected
00:35from greater Cincinnati to Pittsburgh, Philly, New York City, Scranton, Syracuse, and Buffalo.
00:39New Jersey could see some of the highest rainfall totals in the Northeast, with widespread 1-2 inches
00:44and localized amounts between 2 and even up to 5 inches possible through Sunday. That could lead
00:50to flooded roads, reduced visibility, and airport delays and cancellations along the I-95 corridor
00:55during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. And if you're wondering when the
00:59south finally dries out, not anytime soon. We're forecasting this wet pattern to stick
01:03around into next week, as gulf moisture keeps fueling additional downpours and thunderstorms.
01:08Great for the drought, but not so much for your outdoor plans.
