If rain and chilly weather is on the forecast for your Memorial Day weekend, here are some tips on how you can still pull off a fun holiday weekend on the grill even if the weather does not cooperate.

00:00Rain this Memorial Day weekend.
00:02Does this chilly weather make you wish for that summer-like weather from earlier in the week?
00:06Well, you can still grill like a pro.
00:08So rule number one, don't move the grill into the garage, ever.
00:12That's how you turn burgers into a carbon monoxide emergency and a major fire hazard, too.
00:17Instead, use a well-placed canopy, but position it so the grill itself is not directly under it.
00:23Choose foods that handle slower grilling well.
00:25Burgers, sausages, chicken thighs, they are likely to retain heat longer, too.
00:30Maximize your indoors food prep so your time outside is limited just to the grilling process.
00:36Keep the grill lid closed longer to hold heat and expect longer cook times in that cool, damp air.
00:43Keep extra towels handy for slippery tools and wet food prep stations.
00:47And remember, rainy grilling is basically northeast backyard resilience.
00:51If you can grill in 52 degrees drizzle wearing a hoodie, you've earned summer, and it will soon be here.
