A global RAM shortage is putting pressure on the tech industry, and Valve is feeling the heat. This video explains how the demand from AI and data centers is affecting the production of the Steam Deck and other gaming devices.

00:00Why exactly is Valve asking a RAM for spare RAM? Well, it's short in supply right now,
00:05and it's incredibly hard to build new gaming hardware without it, which makes producing
00:10Steam decks and future Steam machines quite a challenge. The reason for the RAM shortage is
00:16the huge surge in demand from AI companies and data centers. Those industries are buying massive
00:22amounts of memory to power machine learning systems, which is putting pressure on global
00:27supply. That means companies building gaming hardware, including Valve, are competing for
00:32the same components. So that's why Valve recently joked, if you have a line on a bunch of RAM,
00:37we are in the market and we would like to buy it. Does anyone have some RAM they can give
00:42to Valve?
