Sir Keir Starmer says he wants the "whole Labour movement" to be involved in the Makerfield by-election campaign. He adds: “It's about the values that we take into politics, and it's really important that we all pull together and fight in that by-election, as we will do."

00:00We've seen a flurry of policies since that disastrous result for Labour in the local elections.
00:05Will you be out there campaigning in many ways?
00:08Yes, and I've said to the whole Labour movement that I want everybody to be involved in the campaign.
00:15Whatever other discussions are going on, it's really important that it's a straight fight between Labour and reform.
00:21It's about the values that we take into politics, so it's really important that we all pull together
00:27and fight in that by-election, as we will do.
00:30So you'll be looking at both of them?
00:32Yes, I want to be part of that, of course I do, and I want everybody to be part of
00:35that.
00:36But also by being clear about the steps we've taken to stabilise the economy.
00:42Because all of this that we've announced today has only been possible because of the steps we took at the
00:46budget.
00:47The fact that inflation dropped is because of the steps that didn't drop out of the sky.
00:52That's because of the decisions the government took.
00:53So we've got a very good story to tell.
00:56We've asked you to get out there and have that opportunity to make the case.
