00:23Hello there, Peabody here.
00:25Once again, it is time to take another revealing peek back into history.
00:28What famous date shall I set it to today, Mr. Peabody?
00:31October 19th, 1781.
00:34Got it. And the place?
00:35Yorktown, Virginia, where we shall witness that great moment of the American Revolution
00:39when Cornwallis surrendered to General Washington.
00:41And away we go!
00:44It was simply a matter of seconds when we found ourselves in the main camp of General Washington
00:48where the surrender was to take place.
00:49However, by the orders the General was issuing, I quickly suspected that something was amiss.
00:53Load your muskets, men! Position those cannon!
00:56Prepare to fire on my command!
00:59Hey, the battle is still on!
01:00I'm afraid there's more here than meets the eye.
01:03Stopping a passing soldier, I asked him if this wasn't the day that General Cornwallis was supposed to surrender.
01:08Yep. He was supposed to turn his sword over to General Washington this morning, but he ain't showed up.
01:14Now we gotta start the Battle of Yorktown all over again.
01:16Golly, Mr. Peabody, this is terrible!
01:19There must be some mistake!
01:20Quite so, Sherman, and I suggest we find out what it is immediately.
01:24Hurrying into Yorktown, we went directly to General Cornwallis' headquarters
01:27where we found him frantically rummaging through a large trunk.
01:30Not here, not there, not here.
01:32Oh, drat the luck!
01:34You'll pardon the intrusion, sir, but by some oversight,
01:36have you forgotten you ought to surrender to General Washington today?
01:39My good man, it isn't that I've forgotten it, simply that I can't.
01:42Can't surrender? Why not?
01:43I can't find my ruddy sword is why not.
01:46Isn't that jolly well depressing?
01:48But you've got to find it or the battle will start all over again.
01:51Yes, I know.
01:52Well, I'll have to do the next best thing and see if he'll accept this cricket bat instead.
01:56Cheerio, chaps.
01:58Needless to say, it was just a short time until Cornwallis returned with the cricket bat still in hand.
02:02No soap, huh?
02:03No, I'm afraid it must be a sword that I turn in upon my surrender.
02:07So be it. I shall go catch a sword.
02:10Catch a sword? What's he talking about?
02:12He could only mean one thing, Sherman. Follow me.
02:14My suspicions were, of course, correct, for Cornwallis hurried down to the coast where he set about the task of
02:19deep-sea fishing.
02:21In no time at all, he managed to hook up beauty and, after a savage battle, landed a whopping big
02:26swordfish.
02:27I say, smashing good luck, what?
02:30Wait a minute. You're not thinking of surrendering that to General Washington, are you?
02:34Of course, dear boy. It is a sword of sorts, you know.
02:37It might have worked out, but for the fact that it was such a long walk back to Washington's camp
02:41and being such a hot day,
02:43the swordfish was hardly in any condition to present to the General by the time he arrived.
02:47Out!
02:49That does it, chaps. There is simply no way to surrender a sword without a sword.
02:53I'm afraid the battle will just have to continue.
02:56Is it possible you forgot to bring your sword?
02:59Nonsense. I checked everything carefully before I left.
03:02I packed my toothbrush, an extra pair of socks, put my sword on the...
03:05Oh, my George, you're right. It's back in jolly old England.
03:09Then that is the answer. We shall go to England and get it.
03:12But that's impossible. There isn't time.
03:14Nothing, Sherman. It's impossible.
03:16You go to General Washington and ask him to hold everything.
03:19We shall be back with the sword in no time at all.
03:21Okay, but I hope it works. Good luck.
03:24Luck was with us for taking one of Cornwallis' fastest ships.
03:26We set sail immediately and just happened to get caught in a violent hurricane
03:31that blew us across the ocean to England in record time.
03:33Wasting no time, we hurried to the General's house.
03:36Mother! Mother!
03:38Why, Charles, what is it? Did you forget something?
03:41Yes, Mother, my sword. I say, have you seen it?
03:44Oh, yes, dear. I'm barbecuing a roast with it.
03:47Won't you and your friends stay for dinner?
03:49I'm afraid there's no time for that, ma'am.
03:51I'll take the sword and we'll eat the roast on the way.
03:53Awfully nice of you, Mother. Cheer-o.
03:55We rushed back to the ship and were fortunate enough to catch the hurricane
03:59which just happened to be blowing the other way
04:01and made the return crossing faster than before.
04:04I can't wait any longer. Ready?
04:08Don't shoot yet, General. If you could hold it just a little longer...
04:11Aim! I say, here I am. I'm here.
04:15Wait! Here they come. They made it!
04:17Don't fire, for pity's sake. King's X, I give up.
04:21Do you surrender, sir?
04:22I certainly do.
04:24Here, sir, is my sword.
04:27Phew! Good work, Mr. Peabody.
04:29Cornwallis was finally able to surrender.
04:31And that practically entered the revolution.
04:33Quite so, Sherman. And following his surrender,
04:35Cornwallis was able to return to England,
04:37where in 1794, he was made Marquess of the Piggyback Races
04:40for all of the royal picnics.
04:42Marquess of the Piggyback Races? How come?
04:45How else could they start the race?
04:46You know very well that before every race,
04:48you must say,
04:50get on, your Marquess.
04:59Marquess of the Piggyback Races
05:02let's go.
05:02So, you've won't have time for the
05:02Halloween, MAL.
05:02So we're going to have to realize
05:02Okay.
