00:23Hello out there, Peabody and Sherman in here.
00:26Where are we going today, Mr. Peabody?
00:28Mexico, my boy. The year is 1910, and the famous person we'll tete-a-tete with is Pancho Villa.
00:35The wayback whisked us back through the decades to a bandit camp in the Mexico Badlands.
00:40It was obvious that Pancho was having trouble with his men.
00:44Pancho, you know we love you like a bandit, but how come all the time you're feeding us jumping beans?
00:51Because, Gonzales, beans is all we got.
00:54Well, if this keeps up, Pancho, we gonna jump ourselves over to some other leader.
01:00Don't be silly, boys. Jumping is good for you. Gives you exercise.
01:06We don't want no exercise.
01:08Tell you what, Pancho, gonna do.
01:10I gonna rub down, get muchos pesos, and buy beans that don't make you jump.
01:16Better yet, stick up your town and bite tamales. I don't like beans no more.
01:23Well, very well I do it.
01:25The nearest town was El Famino, undoubtedly the most poverty-stricken metropolis in the world.
01:30Sherman, we must warn these people Pancho Villa is on his way, and we'll start with that street cleaner.
01:35Who's a street cleaner? I am the mayor.
01:38Oh, I beg your pardon, Your Honor.
01:39Uh, Mr. Mayor, you better tell your citizens that Pancho Villa is coming to rob you.
01:43Oh, no, he ain't. Why not?
01:46Because we got nothing he can rob us of.
01:49This town is destitute, poor, bankrupt, broke.
01:54What are you keeping that bank?
01:55Haha, that's not a bank. It's a motel.
01:59Mr. Mayor, have you any idea what Pancho Villa will do if he robs you and doesn't get any money?
02:03Sure. He'll take an eye on you.
02:05He'll destroy the town.
02:06Well, if that's the way it's gonna be, that's the way it's gonna be.
02:10Excuse me, senors, but I have a luncheon engagement around the corner.
02:14What do we do, Mr. Peabody?
02:16Well, there must be some money in the town, Sherman, and it's up to us to raise it.
02:19Just then, Pancho rode in.
02:24Stick him up, town.
02:26Uh, Mr. Villa, I wonder if you could come back at three.
02:28Three? Can you give me one good reason why, senor?
02:32Because the town doesn't have any money to give you now, but by three it will have.
02:36There's not a bad reason. Okay, I come back at three.
02:43Our first step was the El Famino bank.
02:45You wish a room, senor?
02:47The mayor was right. This is a motel.
02:50We got special this week on safe deposit boxes. They're very comfortable, senors.
02:55Look, my good man, if I were to hold you up, what would I get?
02:58A sore back. I weigh 200 pounds.
03:01No, no. Mr. Peabody means that if he held you up with a gun, what would he get?
03:04Excuses. Nothing but excuses.
03:07You have no money then?
03:08No one in El Famino has money, except maybe old man Moss. He's a millionaire.
03:15Oh? Sure, he saved money all his life.
03:18I bet you he's got at least a buck and a half salted away.
03:22The Moss rancho was located on the very edge of town.
03:26We approached the rancho, and there on the porch sat old man Moss, kicking the bucket.
03:30Mr. Moss, Pancho V is going to hold up the town of three, and unless he gets money, he'll wipe
03:35out everything.
03:37Would you be willing to donate a dollar or so?
03:40I will be most happy too, but all my money is tied up in food.
03:44Food? Hmm, I wonder what Pancho would say to that.
03:47Food is all right. I was going to buy food with the money anyway. What kind of food you got,
03:53senor?
03:53Jumping beans. Twenty crates of them.
03:58Senors, if I was to take these beans to my men, they would jump me to death.
04:04Well, I guess I got to wipe the town out. Who's got a match?
04:09I can't let you do that, Pancho. I was willing to let you get away with a loan of a
04:12dollar or two to prevent any violence, but as for wiping El Famino out.
04:15How are you going to stop me?
04:17With this, I produced a photograph of a fascinating senorita, one whose beauty was enough to overcome any man.
04:24Pancho Villa took one look at it and promptly fell asleep, and strangely enough, so did all the other gentlemen
04:29in that area.
04:30We removed the Desperado's guns and sent him riding off where he came from.
04:34But suppose he comes back?
04:35We leave this picture with the town. Pancho will fall asleep every time he sees it.
04:39But I don't understand, Mr. Peabody. Why does everyone fall asleep when they look at this?
04:43It's an old Spanish costume, Sherman. It is?
04:46Of course. This girl's name is Esther. And you know that when you see Esther, you fall asleep.
