Stefon Diggs might fit the Commanders as a WR2, and Trevon Diggs would definitely upgrade the Commanders' secondary - could they BOTH be coming to DC?
Transcript
00:00So Stefan Diggs and his brother Trayvon Diggs were together recently.
00:05I don't know if this was yesterday or the day before.
00:07Looks like they're on a rooftop at a hotel.
00:10My guess is that might be the Line Hotel in Adams Morgan.
00:14The only reason I say that is because I was literally at a rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago on
00:19top of that hotel.
00:19And it looks exactly like the view of the video that was shot of the two of them.
00:26Almost, it's got to be where it is.
00:28It's the exact view.
00:30Um, maybe I'm wrong.
00:32Maybe they weren't even in D.C.
00:33They were in D.C., right?
00:35I'm pretty sure they were because, I mean, Stefan did that Mother's Day thing and they've been spending a lot
00:39of time in the area since they're from here.
00:41So, yeah, I'm assuming that that's where they were.
00:43All right.
00:44So, um, Mike Elsade via TikTok, uh, shot this video and asked about, you know, what would it take to
00:56get them wearing Washington jerseys?
00:58Guys, this is Steph and his brother, Trayvon Diggs, answering that question.
01:03And I got both of you guys in front of me.
01:05We're talking football here.
01:07And little brother just showed up.
01:09If we're talking football, how long would it take if we get you guys in one of our units?
01:15That's what everybody's talking about right now.
01:16We're going to talk about it very well soon.
01:19Real soon.
01:20That's what everybody's talking about right now.
01:22We're going to talk about it real soon, though.
01:26Said Steph.
01:27Steph, the older brother of the two.
01:32Uh, yeah.
01:34Um, there's a need for a wide receiver and there's a need for a corner on Washington's roster.
01:40Uh, you know, if these guys all check out and the, I do trust Adam Peters.
01:47I do.
01:48There's, there's, I've got no reason not to trust that they can do the, the level of, you know, investigation,
01:57due diligence, all of that to make sure that they're adding not just quality football players.
02:02Um, to the organization and to the locker room, but quality, you know, additions that fit into the culture because
02:09they have worked very hard over these first two seasons to change the culture of this organization from the most
02:17abhorrent culture in the NFL and maybe all of team sports to something that has become widely respected around the
02:25league.
02:25Dan Quinn, Adam Peters, the ownership, the front office, um, this is not a place that people run from anymore.
02:35Uh, it's not a place where the only way you can get somebody is if they don't have a choice
02:39or you overpay them by 20 to 30%.
02:42Uh, it's much different now.
02:44That's good for all of us.
02:46You know, it's like, what did we do here in the last two years?
02:49We got rid of Dan.
02:50We've changed the culture with new ownership and new leadership.
02:54And we got a quarterback.
02:56I mean, flashback, you know, two and a half, three years didn't have any of that.
03:00And it was bleak.
03:02It was bleak.
03:04We were suspending reality as we would say over all those years, just to have conversations about the team, even
03:11though we knew nothing good could happen as long as Dan owned the team.
03:14And that has changed.
03:15And you don't want, you know, all of a sudden the franchise to be the franchise that brings high risk
03:23individuals in, uh, just because the reward is very high.
03:29Anyway, you prefer low risk, high reward.
03:33That's the preference.
03:36So we don't know enough though.
03:39We don't have access to all of the information.
03:42And I'm not just talking about the legal stuff.
03:44I'm talking about the mental stability stuff with an IU.
03:47I'm talking about that kind of teammates, Steph and Trayvon, uh, both of them really are.
03:52I'm talking about, you know, things like what if Brandon IU, you know, teamed up with his college, you know,
03:58best friend from Arizona state would have put more pressure on Jaden or less pressure.
04:02How would that dynamic work?
04:04They got to come to those decisions, but this football team needs more good football players on it.
04:10I mean, that's the bottom line, like, unless you're, you know, in this world of, well, we're just going to
04:17build it one block at a time.
04:18And, you know, let's try to win seven or eight games in 2026.
04:22And then, you know, advanced to nine or 10 games in 27.
04:25And then maybe, maybe by 28 or 29, we can be a Superbowl contender.
04:28That's not the way the NFL works anymore.
04:31For the most part, you got a rookie at quarterback on a rookie contract.
04:37Let me just say something that was pointed out to me by, I'm forgetting who it was pointed out, a
04:41guest from two weeks ago who made a really good point.
04:44Oh, it was, um, Mike Gianetti from SpotTrack who pointed out, you know, everybody always focuses on the rookie contract.
04:51The truth is the rookie contract typically extends in terms of the benefit, the roster benefit, at least a year
04:59to two years, sometimes into the next contract,
05:02because you can structure the contract where you're not taking the brunt of the salary cap hit in years one
05:10and two in a long-term deal.
05:12You push it back in terms of the cap hit so that it fits into a much bigger cap, because
05:17what do we know about the NFL cap?
05:19It goes up every year.
05:21So you kind of get the benefit of the rookie quarterback contract, even into the first year or two of
05:31that first massive extension or new contract that said quarterback signs.
05:38So, um, but you know, I'm, I'm, I'm into 26, not to sound like doc, but I'm into 26 and
05:46I'm into the Eagles right now on the road on September 13th.
05:49And you gotta, you need more good football players.
05:53They've done a really nice job overall of completely changing the look defensively from coordinator to actual players on the
06:05roster.
06:05I mean, I was half tongue in cheek when after the season ended, I said, defense, defense, defense, you need
06:13at least five to six new starters.
06:16It's really hard to add five to six new starters.
06:20It's easier to do when the talent you currently have isn't very good and is easily replaceable even by players
06:29that aren't elite.
06:30And that's what they did.
06:31Now, hopefully some of those players are ascending and they'll become elite players.
06:35I think of away.
06:37I think of certainly, um, you know, sunny styles, of course, but even like, you know, a Chanel, um,
06:44um, across, uh, a chase on, et cetera.
06:48They've added, I mean, in a way Chanel styles, chase on settle, right?
07:00Five definite new starters.
07:04And then with wait, wait, wait.
07:08Oh, way Chanel.
07:09Let me pull up the art lads here.
07:11So I don't get this wrong.
07:15All right.
07:17Oh, way Chanel settle styles, chase on cross.
07:22That is six players that will essentially be starters or starting rotation players.
07:31Throw a me Robertson in there too.
07:33Okay.
07:33Fair.
07:34Because right now he's your nickel corner.
07:36And if he's not, then it's Sandra still with him on the outside.
07:40But I think we believe a meek Robertson is your nickel corner.
07:43So that's seven.
07:45I'm not forgetting anybody.
07:48No, I'm not.
07:50No.
07:50I mean, Omenihue is going to be a part of the rotation defensively.
07:54No doubt.
07:57Um, so they've done it.
08:00They've done a nice job.
08:01Look, the corner was the other than a meek Robertson corner is still a concern.
08:07You know, Trayvon Diggs played for Dan Quinn in Dallas, had some really good productive playmaking years.
08:13You know, Trayvon Diggs, Deron Bland, you know, those teams, they definitely were a part of teams that were high
08:21on the takeaways list each year.
08:23They also gave up big plays.
08:25So I don't know what Durante Jones likes or doesn't like, uh, about, um, about Trayvon Diggs.
08:33The one thing that you would say is if Durante Jones is a Brian Flores disciple in, in terms of
08:39the way he coaches and it's all about scheming up pass rush, uh, and not necessarily dependent on like elite
08:49level corners.
08:51What do you want back there?
08:52You want guys who can face the quarterback in zone coverage when you're scheming up pass rush and have the
08:59ability to really make plays.
09:01Diggs is good at that.
09:02He's a really good playmaker.
09:05He anticipates while he sees it.
09:07He also probably jumps it a bit too early and gets beat, but you need another corner and you need
09:17another wide receiver.
09:19I don't know what it would look like in the locker room though.
09:22I, I'm not, I don't have enough information and you guys don't either.
09:26We, we have gut feels on this.
09:27My gut feel is to just trust that if they don't go out and get these players and they're available
09:34to them, then they just didn't want the risk of having their culture disrupted.
09:41And that could lead to, you know, sort of erasing whatever benefit the players brought on the field.
09:48I know this about Stefan Diggs though, man, he is a baller.
09:54He is an absolute competitive bad-ass on Sundays.
09:59You cannot take that away from him.
10:02And he was a big deal last year for a young quarterback in Drake May.
10:08And, you know, I've had, I had a friend of mine, uh, that I saw over the weekend was just
10:13hammering me with one question after another about the roster.
10:17And he kept saying over and over again, I don't want Diggs.
10:19I don't want Diggs.
10:20Why?
10:20Because that's Antonio Williams's position.
10:24Okay.
10:25Antonio Williams is a rookie third rounder.
10:28He may be ready to produce at a high level in 2026.
10:32Uh, but we don't know that for sure.
10:36And Stefan Diggs is not just a slot receiver and Antonio Williams apparently isn't just a slot receiver.
10:43Look right now, you've got one receiver, one on the roster that can be counted on.
10:50To produce at a fairly high NFL level.
10:54And by the way, he's coming off the worst year, the most injured year and a rough year, both on
11:02the field and off it.
11:04Terry McLaurin is.
11:06Now I have to think based on his professionalism that this is going to be a big bounce back year
11:12for him.
11:14He was, uh, on.
11:16Did you get any of that sound?
11:18I found him talking about Jaden getting everybody together in California, Max.
11:22I'm grabbing it right now.
11:23Actually, I got it right here.
11:25Yeah.
11:25I mean, you know, in Jaden Daniels is a young, he gets it kind of a guy.
11:32Terry's always gotten it.
11:34He is, you know, he gets it in terms of what you need to be as a professional.
11:39Look, that contract negotiation, not the best, uh, you know, not, not his best and not his agent's best.
11:46Um, but, uh, overall I expect a massive bounce back year, but God, man, you're comfortable right now with the
11:54army trail on Burks, Jalen Lane, Luke McCaffrey, Van Jefferson.
11:59Or would you like to have Stephon Diggs?
12:02I mean, or Brandon Iyuk.
12:05I mean, I, no, we're not doing this again right now.
12:09We've only done seven call segments over the last three weeks about Diggs or Iyuk.
12:15But Diggs and Diggs, the law firm of Diggs and Diggs, do you want it?
12:21Yeah, we can take calls on that.
12:22We haven't done that one.
12:25Diggs and Diggs, you want it or not?
12:28301-230-0980.
12:32I want it if Adam Peters and Dan Quinn want it.
12:35If they think that it's, you know, I certainly see it as an upgrade talent wise.
12:42Otherwise, I, that's not really debatable as far as Steph goes.
12:48It's just whether or not, you know, the reward is worth the risk.
12:53And that's something that they're going to have to answer.
