Don't let the Sox get hot! "They're in it". Could Jarren Duran be entering a hot streak?
Transcript
00:00The Red Sox offense rose like a phoenix from the ashes last night, Curtis.
00:08Yeah, on the lookout, 7-1, 19-8 now in games where they score at least three runs.
00:12I mean, it is.
00:14That's very pedestrian.
00:18I love Jones, and he is all in on Bresbot.
00:22And, you know, if you want to defend the decision to fire Cora,
00:27you can cite that this team has been decimated with either guys that won't play
00:33or guys that can't play, whether it's your –
00:36if you said you're going to lose Cora, Roman, Anthony, and Crochet,
00:40and you'd be playing better than you were before,
00:42like I guess they made the right decision.
00:44I don't know.
00:45Well, that's the glass is half full part of it is you have to be able –
00:51you should get Crochet back in a week or two, right?
00:55In September, maybe get Roman Anthony.
00:57You should get Roman Anthony back soon.
01:01But the problem is they had 15 hits last night,
01:05and that's I think only the second time this season
01:10that they have scored a legitimate amount of runs.
01:14I mean, they are just – they are anemic when it comes to offense.
01:18And the Royals suck.
01:19Like, they're bad.
01:20Yeah, that's true.
01:20No, they are bad when it comes to offense.
01:23But a boss man said this yesterday that – or what's his – Cooper –
01:28Cooper, what's the guy?
01:29Cooper Borman.
01:30Cooper Borman said that.
01:32Borman?
01:32How many people are we going to cite?
01:34Well, because I was listening to her driving,
01:36and I didn't realize that the Red Sox have, like,
01:40one of the best rotations in the month of May.
01:43I was like, oh, I didn't realize when it comes to ERA.
01:46That makes sense.
01:46They may.
01:47I mean, think of even, like, Ranger Suarez.
01:49He has been having strong outings.
01:52His is, like, 1 point – wait, what, Curtis?
01:54Like, 1.7 or something?
01:56Well, so if you can keep games – you know,
01:58if you can keep teams to only score in two or three runs –
02:01He's like, I saw Terp.
02:05Actually, I followed Terp on Signal, and he sent me a message
02:08about how he feels about the Red Sox.
02:09Well, let's go to Chad Tracy because Jaron Durant had a big game yesterday,
02:13hopefully big enough to get him traded off of the Red Sox,
02:15and Chad Tracy was singing his praises postgame.
02:18Here's what Chad Tracy had to say.
02:20I don't know what the numbers I was counting before today,
02:22but he's been on base, like, eight or nine times in the last four days,
02:25which is awesome, including a few walks.
02:28So, yeah, the swing – it's always that with Jaron.
02:30Like, if he stays off some of the soft below and gets himself in a good count,
02:33he becomes really dangerous and take the walk and pass the baton,
02:36and he's doing that right now.
02:37Given how often you have talked about, like, waiting for that one big swing,
02:40like, what did it feel like when you saw that ball staying fair?
02:44Yeah.
02:44We always had a nice angle at it, so it was starting to go,
02:47and I was like, please stay fair, you know?
02:48But, no, I mean, when it left his bat, you felt like that's gone if it stays fair.
02:53But, yeah, I mean, the big swings have come, you know,
02:56the last couple of days, which is great.
02:58Curtis, I know you said earlier that I'm a fool,
03:02and so I am resisting the urge to be pulled back in.
03:07But if Jaron Duran and others can get the bats hot,
03:11and then you get Garrett Crochet back –
03:14Yep.
03:14Week and a half, whatever that is.
03:17You get Roman Anthony back in a week, let's say, 10 days, whatever that is.
03:23Right.
03:23And you're right in this thing.
03:26Mm-hmm.
03:27You're 11 and a half games out of first place.
03:29Yeah, we're not going to catch first place.
03:31Yeah, you're right in this thing.
03:32You're right in this thing wild card-wise.
03:34Yeah.
03:34You're right in this thing.
03:35That should be your goal.
03:36Your goal shouldn't be to win the division now.
03:38Right.
03:38Your goal – if I'm Tracy, your goal is like, all right,
03:40we're going to do our best to try to catch the division leaders,
03:44but we need to be focused on making sure that we do everything in our power
03:48to grab one of those wild card spots.
03:51That's the most important thing right now.
03:52And I think that they realize that it's going to be very difficult.
03:56And if they make the postseason, isn't that –
03:59Anything can happen.
04:01But isn't that a giant – isn't that a giant win for Bresbot?
04:04No.
04:05No, it's not.
04:06It's not.
04:06No, it's not.
04:07I think it is.
04:07It's not.
04:08They made it easier than ever to get into the postseason.
04:11They were also talking World Series.
04:13Yeah.
04:13Like, the words came out of their mouths.
04:16Mm-hmm.
04:17I have to side with Wiggy here.
04:18If they make the playoffs –
04:20Right.
04:20That's back-to-back years where Bresbot makes an unpopular move,
04:24and yet the team plays better after it.
04:26Right.
04:26Okay.
04:27Makes you wonder what would happen if he made the popular moves.
04:30Like, I don't know, adding talent to the lineup.
04:32No, what if he added talent and fired the coach before spring training?
04:36Right.
04:37So, it's to Curtis's point, they did the unpopular things,
04:41and everybody's like, ah, it's going to fall apart.
04:43Yes, they started off slow, and part of it was the talent,
04:47but also part of it's the manager.
04:49We try to correct some things, and if they can make the playoffs,
04:53I think that, you know, that is a huge win for him.
04:57To Curtis's point, we fired our manager.
05:00We were still able to – we would think about the hole we put ourselves in,
05:04and we were still able to scratch and claw our way to the postseason.
05:09Now, people would be like, all right, anything goes in Major League Baseball
05:13when it comes to the postseason.
05:14It isn't about how many dingers you hit during the regular season.
05:18It's about who are the guys you roll out there on the mound.
05:21And if I am Craig Breslow, and I'm sure he's not like this,
05:24and I make the playoffs and I'm hosting a playoff game at Fenway,
05:27I call the Veritex and invite Jason to throw out the first pitch.
05:30It does not compute.
05:33Do you think Breslow ever loses it?
05:37Like –
05:37Malfunctions?
05:39Starts steaming.
05:41No, just like busts the door down, storms in,
05:44and starts throwing Excel spreadsheets at the fellas.
05:48Get them all fired up.
05:50Could be.
05:50I don't think he's connected to his emotions.
05:53Maybe he's super strong because he is a robot like the Terminator,
05:57and like he throws the photocopy machine right through the wall.
06:01It's like, wow.
06:02Like go to shake hands with him and he won't let you out of his grip.
06:06He's like the T-1000 from Terminator 2.
06:09It's like, wow, Jesus.
06:09He's like the T-1000 from Terminator 2.
06:10He's like the T-1000 from Terminator 2.
06:10He's like the T-1000 from Terminator 2.
06:10He's like the T-1000 from Terminator 2.
