00:00:00I thought, I want to be even more truthful to myself.
00:00:05We were all saying the same thing.
00:00:08Let's do pop, like mega pop.
00:00:20The irony is...
00:00:23Kylie does mean boomerang.
00:00:26I did my best to come back.
00:00:30Back in the day...
00:00:32I've done some pretty, like Kermit kind of spot.
00:00:35Some bold, racy stuff, but...
00:00:39These are a bit bold.
00:00:42The gold hot pants took it to another level.
00:00:46All fifth pants worth.
00:00:49And I said to the director,
00:00:51is it...
00:00:53I love them.
00:00:54They're staying.
00:00:56I'm spinning around.
00:00:59It was the first time I worked with a female director.
00:01:04But I had no idea.
00:01:07The shots were quite that close.
00:01:10Until they did.
00:01:11Now to wait you out and say, we've got a lady who's got me,
00:01:13reaching for the hot pants, the gorgeous, Kylie Minogue!
00:01:22We can confirm Kylie Minogue has her fifth UK number one hit single with Spinning Around.
00:01:28And she's on the phone now.
00:01:29Congratulations, Kylie.
00:01:30It's your biggest hit for over ten years.
00:01:34I will say this.
00:01:36It's good to be back.
00:01:39The first single is whipping up more than a little controversy,
00:01:42thanks to our skimpy little shorts.
00:01:45Would you go out the hostess like that?
00:01:47Well, let's just say, I had...
00:01:50It would have been absolute fright if I put them on these days.
00:01:56Your bum has become like a force of nature in its own right.
00:01:58I believe there are like websites devoted to it,
00:02:00and there are children named after it,
00:02:01and it's become...
00:02:02It's a huge phenomenon.
00:02:03Your bum is enormous.
00:02:22I heard it as a demo.
00:02:26And then I was thrown into a panic, saying,
00:02:29is it mine?
00:02:29Fire up the mic.
00:02:30We've got to do this.
00:02:41So we do have a new number one,
00:02:44and we have her on the phone now.
00:02:45Hi, Kylie.
00:02:46You're top of the chart again.
00:02:47I'm beside myself.
00:02:49You're beginning to make this look easy.
00:02:51And then it went off the rector.
00:02:55So, of course, I arrived on a giant CD player.
00:03:02Hanging on to, like, nothing.
00:03:10So, can you tell us, you're the creative director,
00:03:12can you tell us about your role and how does it all work?
00:03:14I smoke.
00:03:15I don't.
00:03:19It's all about drawing attention to her.
00:03:23I don't like seeing dancers' faces, really.
00:03:27If you have loads of different faces,
00:03:29it takes attention away from her,
00:03:30which is why they all seem to be covered up
00:03:32and why they all hate me.
00:03:37Obviously, you've got sex appeal
00:03:40and sex sells.
00:03:44You are very sexy.
00:03:46You like looking sexy.
00:03:48Yeah.
00:03:50I felt liberated.
00:03:52I felt quite passable.
00:03:54And I was like, oh, OK, yeah.
00:03:57What helps make it a sexy video
00:04:00is that it is my personality coming through
00:04:02as opposed to what is meant to be sexy.
00:04:04But this is just...
00:04:05It's just me.
00:04:08Whether it's that addictive beat
00:04:10or that scandalous dress...
00:04:12I love this song.
00:04:13It's that chick from the 80s.
00:04:15Kylie Minogue's catchy dance song
00:04:16seems to have caught on here in the States.
00:04:18And we were discussing Kylie Minogue...
00:04:20Grooving to it and everything, right?
00:04:21Y'all feeling it, too?
00:04:26Hello.
00:04:27How are you?
00:04:28Nice to see you.
00:04:29Can't see you.
00:04:33I think this could be fucking great, you know?
00:04:36And we'll play by numbers
00:04:38till some player sticks
00:04:40and don't mind doing it for the kids.
00:04:45So come on!
00:04:46I mean, some people ask me about looking sexy
00:04:52with a tone in their voice like,
00:04:53well, is that right?
00:04:54Should you be doing that?
00:04:55And I say, well,
00:04:56I wouldn't like to feel that I couldn't be myself.
00:04:59It is part of my character.
00:05:01And there was a knowing to it.
00:05:04And winking.
00:05:06Can I have another one of these, please?
00:05:08Cool.
00:05:09Is that all right?
00:05:09Was that enough money?
00:05:10Mm-hmm.
00:05:11Yeah?
00:05:11Delightful.
00:05:13Okay.
00:05:13You think we can do one more?
00:05:15Yep.
00:05:15Just because we can.
00:05:21For the first time,
00:05:23I wasn't trying to be someone else.
00:05:26Your disco, your disco,
00:05:30your disco needs you.
00:05:34I would like to know,
00:05:35gay people always have been in love with you.
00:05:38Yeah.
00:05:38What's the reason?
00:05:39There was a time in the beginning of my career
00:05:42when I was having this tirade of nastiness
00:05:45just for being myself.
00:05:47And I think my gay audience may have related to that.
00:05:53I feel like I could go to war with my gay audience.
00:05:58And they were there way back
00:06:00when it was the most uncool thing.
00:06:02I just want to say a heartfelt thank you
00:06:04to all of you for your support
00:06:06throughout the years.
00:06:08I just want you to know that I'm here for you.
00:06:15And the Grammy goes to...
00:06:17Kylie Minogue.
00:06:18Kylie Minogue.
00:06:18Kylie Minogue.
00:06:19Kylie Minogue.
00:06:20Kylie Minogue!
00:06:23It felt great to be amongst people
00:06:26who are just celebrating you
00:06:27for being yourself.
00:06:30So, a few years ago,
00:06:32it seems that pop was a dirty word.
00:06:35No longer!
00:06:38So let me dance to all of this
00:06:42and what is all about
00:06:44What I've come to realise,
00:06:46I hope you're recording,
00:06:48is...
00:06:49Do your part
00:06:51I might not be blessed
00:06:52with a voice
00:06:53from the heavens.
00:07:03I don't have
00:07:04anyone else's voice.
00:07:12What I have is my voice.
00:07:26First half was good,
00:07:27wasn't it?
00:07:28Then it came in with a funny note.
00:07:32Yeah.
00:07:33Yeah.
00:07:34Just stay on that,
00:07:35don't go up,
00:07:35because it's a bit larger.
00:07:38Oh, OK.
00:07:40OK.
00:07:41Try it.
00:07:42Good luck.
00:07:42Good luck.
00:07:48Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
00:07:52Blah.
00:07:53Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
00:07:54Ah.
00:07:54The love is hello,
00:07:59the love is down,
00:08:01the love is embaixo,
00:08:03the love is gob reee,
00:08:04ah, ah, ah, ah.
00:08:06Ah, ah, ah.
00:08:08Ah, ah, ah, ah, ha.
00:08:12Come on! Come on!
00:08:14Can I come in?
00:08:15No, I'll go. One more take.
00:08:16Oh!
00:08:17Then you're done.
00:08:18Thanks. Boots.
00:08:19You're cured.
00:08:20Pop stars today.
00:08:26My final guest is a megastar of pop.
00:08:30Caroline Sartre, attention!
00:08:32Welcome, please, Kylie Minogue!
00:08:36The last time you came on the programme, I talked to you about your relationships
00:08:39and you were a new fellow now. You're a Frenchman.
00:08:41Are Frenchmen better than English guys?
00:08:45How can I possibly say that?
00:08:49The next guest tonight is a French actor. Please welcome Olivier Martinez.
00:08:54I can't ride a motorbike, but I love being on the back of a motorbike.
00:08:58I love it.
00:09:01Especially if you're on the back of the bike of the man you love.
00:09:05But is he the one, though? Is Olivier the one?
00:09:09He could be. I don't know.
00:09:13This has got nothing to do with me.
00:09:15I feel that I'm in the world.
00:09:17I can see stuff and no one can see you.
00:09:19It's just, it's like freedom in Paris.
00:09:24And what about children?
00:09:26I mean, you're 35 now.
00:09:27But it's been a bit late, aren't you, 35?
00:09:29I'm aware of this, Mark.
00:09:32I was not too late.
00:09:36But, obviously, a woman of my age can't help but think about those things.
00:09:53Plus...
00:09:53At long last, how are you getting on?
00:09:56I'm headlining Glastonbury, which was a huge, a huge deal.
00:10:01It was a really good idea.
00:10:05Because I was a pop artist.
00:10:07Okay, bye.
00:10:10People like me need to headline Glastonbury.
00:10:16You let us know when you're coming.
00:10:19When I've watched other people perform there.
00:10:23Glastonbury!
00:10:25Trying to take in the breadth of that audience...
00:10:31...is kind of impossible.
00:10:35So, it was huge.
00:10:37And I was ready for it.
00:10:40The event is expected to be sold out in just seven hours.
00:10:48So, life was...
00:10:50It was good.
00:10:53But I am a fatalist.
00:10:55Somewhere out there, they're looking down saying,
00:10:56alright, this is the bit where she thinks she's got it together
00:10:59and it's all gonna go pear-shaped.
00:11:08If you got nothing's gone, you can't be
00:11:09Okay, and...
00:11:10Let me know!
00:11:24Ok, and...
00:11:24And, cut.
00:11:26But...
00:11:26...I was really tired.
00:11:29I remember...
00:11:31I don't know, like, just putting my head down a bit more often.
00:11:36A few more photos of me just out.
00:11:45And there was not a lot of me anyway.
00:11:48I was pretty tiny, but I was, like, a little bit tinier.
00:11:55How are you feeling?
00:11:57I can't actually speak just yet. Sorry.
00:12:00I'm having it.
00:12:05I kept saying, maybe I'm too old for this.
00:12:13Well, I was ill and I didn't know I was ill.
00:12:20It's cancer we're talking about,
00:12:22but I don't even think I said the word. Yep, yeah.
00:12:27But at the time, I was on a world tour
00:12:31and I was still on stage in two or three days,
00:12:34so I had to have a pretty good reason not to turn up.
00:12:42But then I had a check in London to check a lump
00:12:46and was told it's fine.
00:12:57And let's just put it this way, by the time I got to Australia,
00:13:01it wasn't fine.
00:13:09I went for a screening.
00:13:13And a few biopsies later, they told me the news.
00:13:20I just kind of fell into a chair and then left in a total daze.
00:13:29What's happened?
00:13:31What does that mean?
00:13:33It's like the Earth's just on a different axis or like reality.
00:13:37Where's reality gone?
00:13:39Nothing felt real and yet it couldn't be more real.
00:13:45Did you and Kylie argue when you were younger?
00:13:48Of course.
00:13:50Sisters.
00:13:52I was in London.
00:13:54My parents phoned me.
00:13:57They said, look, we do want to do this on the phone,
00:14:00but we need to let you know Kylie's not well.
00:14:07And that you've got pretty much 24 hours to get back to Australia
00:14:11before the news is going to hit.
00:14:14But it's a 26-hour flight away.
00:14:21There's the one thing that's me and my family,
00:14:24but the second thing is this news.
00:14:27What do we say and what do we do?
00:14:30Because if we said it, that was it.
00:14:32What are the headlines?
00:14:33It would be all over the news.
00:14:34The government sets out its agenda.
00:14:37And I really needed stillness to try and compute what's happening.
00:14:45But my entire crew are making the stage and waiting for me.
00:14:53So, obviously the tour was cancelled.
00:14:58At 6 o'clock, the pop singer Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed
00:15:01with the early stages of breast cancer.
00:15:04The 36-year-old star has postponed her world tour.
00:15:07The singer Kylie Minogue has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
00:15:10She's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
00:15:12She's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
00:15:15She's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
00:15:18She's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
00:15:19Dani flew out of London today to be with her sister.
00:15:24Somebody said, there's a film crew here trying to get an interview with you.
00:15:29And I said, I haven't spoken to my sister yet.
00:15:34And my head was just, I'm jet-lagged.
00:15:38And then I'm thinking, oh shit, if this is what's happening here.
00:15:48The Minogue family have been reunited at the family home
00:15:51for one of the most difficult days they've faced.
00:15:58Intrusion at a level that none of us had experienced.
00:16:05We're just wondering if there's any comment on reports that Kylie's back in Melbourne.
00:16:09In normal times, news of her disease would have been released several weeks later.
00:16:14But because there were concerts due to start here,
00:16:18they had to release the details of her illness right away.
00:16:22How's Kylie doing this morning?
00:16:24Everybody is very hungry for news.
00:16:26So we very much are at the ground floor, if you like, of this disease,
00:16:29almost as part of the family.
00:16:35We're going, oh, poor neighbours.
00:16:39Do you know how she's feeling at the moment?
00:16:43Yeah, she'll be fine. I'm sure she'll be fine.
00:16:45The worst point was Dad needed to go for a walk around the block with the dog.
00:16:50The dog needed to go for a walk around the block.
00:16:55And he couldn't get out of the gate.
00:17:00Nothing was healthy in any way.
00:17:03And it really, really made me angry.
00:17:10And there are reports that she will be going into hospital today.
00:17:16Do we know where she's going to be treated?
00:17:19It's understood the operation to remove the lump will take place at Cabrini Hospital,
00:17:25where security has been increased.
00:17:27Medical staff have been offered a serious amount of money to take photos.
00:17:34And I was feeling in the depths of absolute uncertainty.
00:17:43And that was just the beginning.
00:17:46Kylie Minogue returned home late this afternoon, huddled on the back seat.
00:17:51And I was so scared of what was ahead of me.
00:18:02But thankfully, I had my family.
00:18:07It's hypnotising, isn't it?
00:18:09Whoa, that's cool.
00:18:11What did they say?
00:18:12Nothing.
00:18:14No matter what happens, I know.
00:18:17My brother, sister and my mum and dad will always be there for me.
00:18:22We're there for each other.
00:18:25And that's how our family rolls.
00:18:28So have you found the last few days of reflecting with people staring at you?
00:18:36How's that been?
00:18:40Interesting.
00:18:40Yeah.
00:18:44We have never done anything like this before, so it's not as scary as I thought it might be, actually.
00:18:51I think it's because we're in the dark.
00:18:54Oh, my God.
00:18:55Oh, yes.
00:18:58You've had such tenacity, really.
00:19:00Yeah.
00:19:01Well, I wonder where she got that from.
00:19:02You set the tone.
00:19:05My mum's always been there with me.
00:19:08But she is the opposite of Dan and I.
00:19:12Does not want to be on camera.
00:19:14I wish we could show a shot of Carol, because there she is.
00:19:17Can we see her, Ray?
00:19:18There she is.
00:19:19Hiding.
00:19:21Good on you, Carol.
00:19:24She was on the road with me for all my early years.
00:19:28And my mum's just running away from the camera because she doesn't want to be seen.
00:19:31She's a liar.
00:19:32Hand-washing all the dancers' clothes, hot-gluing Diamantes onto costumes.
00:19:37So this is my mother.
00:19:39Mum's pretty much seen it all.
00:19:42Yeah, we did drag you to Mardi Gras.
00:19:44That was hilarious.
00:19:46Oh, my God.
00:19:47When you met you two for the second time.
00:19:50And you'd forgotten you'd met them and the edge came running over going, Carol, Carol.
00:19:54She's going, who is that?
00:19:55Who is that?
00:19:56And I'm going, it's the edge from you two.
00:19:58You've met him before.
00:19:59You know, she's definitely rock and roll enough.
00:20:02Oh, I haven't met you.
00:20:05I'm Diora Minogue, Diora.
00:20:07This is where all the beauty comes from.
00:20:10But if she didn't like something, she would have given a look.
00:20:12How are you?
00:20:13I'm fine.
00:20:15People I love.
00:20:16I think, oh no, I had it once, I don't want it.
00:20:18They're just, they're still traumatised.
00:20:20You climbed out the window to go bowling.
00:20:23And then mum turned up.
00:20:24Finished my bowl.
00:20:26I turned around and I will never, ever, ever feel...
00:20:32Does she have the look?
00:20:33It was like this.
00:20:33It was like Stephen's building.
00:20:35I walked up those stairs.
00:20:36Sparks and fire coming from you.
00:20:40But whenever the going got tough,
00:20:43she was there.
00:20:56When you try your best and you don't succeed...
00:21:03So, everybody's kind of pasty Kylie Minogue.
00:21:06We thought, well, shouldn't we kind of salute absent friends?
00:21:15I watched Glastonbury.
00:21:17Or used.
00:21:19Something character.
00:21:22From my bedroom.
00:21:26With a lot of emotion.
00:21:32Coldplay dedicated Fix You to me, so there I was just weeping.
00:21:45And I was a prisoner in the house.
00:21:47The thing is, wherever she's going to be treated, she would have to stay there for several months.
00:21:53And I remember saying to my parents, I can't stay here.
00:21:58I want to do my chemotherapy in Paris.
00:22:08But my dad really didn't want me to go.
00:22:10Like, I can only imagine as a parent your instinct to want to protect your child.
00:22:21Especially in that moment.
00:22:23But I said, I've just, I've got to go.
00:22:28And that was really hard.
00:22:41But my mum came with me, so there was someone keeping an eye on me.
00:22:50And that was such a blessing.
00:22:55Because I needed her.
00:22:57Now.
00:22:58More than ever.
00:23:11Here we can see the cancer, which you can't see on the normal image.
00:23:16Here we can see the spread to the lymph nodes.
00:23:20I was in and out of hospital.
00:23:23We can do a local or wide excision.
00:23:25Chemotherapy.
00:23:26Simple or radical.
00:23:28Radiotherapy.
00:23:30And facing a long journey.
00:23:35And I've been so self-conscious about losing my hair.
00:23:40And so first I cut it.
00:23:43And it's just like you hear about.
00:23:49Clumps.
00:23:49There's no other way that clumps come out.
00:23:53So I buzz cut the whole thing.
00:23:59How did I feel?
00:24:01It was the least of my worries at that point in time.
00:24:06I remember the pain.
00:24:08Just to get down the street was a real achievement.
00:24:13I felt removed from my body.
00:24:17Removed from the world.
00:24:23And yeah, the mind goes to really dark places.
00:24:26The chemotherapy was so hard.
00:24:31Physically.
00:24:33Mentally.
00:24:35And.
00:24:36You've met my sister.
00:24:38She's tiny.
00:24:42I remember the mum calling me.
00:24:44She's like, we're in ICU again.
00:24:46She can't feel her fingers.
00:24:47And I'm not allowed to go in the room.
00:24:51We didn't know.
00:24:53If she's ever going to be well again.
00:25:01It was that bad.
00:25:03Like, is she going to live through this?
00:25:10Hi there, I'm.
00:25:12Take two.
00:25:13You mentioned your new single.
00:25:15So maybe you could say hi, I'm doing work.
00:25:17At the time.
00:25:18I was working in London.
00:25:20Hi there, I'm Danny Minogue.
00:25:21And this is my new single.
00:25:23Nicole.
00:25:26So I could just pop over and get to see her.
00:25:29And it would give mum the break.
00:25:32She needed.
00:25:33For her sanity.
00:25:37I remember saying.
00:25:39If I could chop off one of my arms now.
00:25:41And this would all go away.
00:25:42I would.
00:25:44I would.
00:25:49I just felt so helpless.
00:25:53There was nothing I could do for her.
00:25:55Done one full run through.
00:25:57We won't do a full one now.
00:25:58But we'll do a little bit.
00:26:00So you get a vibe.
00:26:01Which song do I get to hear?
00:26:04So.
00:26:05In your eyes.
00:26:07Get out of my way.
00:26:08What do I have to do?
00:26:08But then I thought about.
00:26:12What had always kept us together.
00:26:16Okay, I'll play Miss.
00:26:17That's what I'll do.
00:26:24That went back to what we knew.
00:26:28Back to.
00:26:30The beginning.
00:26:31That feeling of being around the record player again.
00:26:36That feeling of family.
00:26:37In the darkest place.
00:26:39In the darkest place.
00:26:44So we're going with our hearts.
00:26:47Yes, all the rain.
00:26:48Danny would put the music on.
00:26:49Get me moving a little bit.
00:26:51Oh, we're just.
00:26:53And mum was with us.
00:26:55Yes.
00:26:55It was not as we just.
00:26:56So it was like the girls.
00:26:59In the process of getting her better.
00:27:03Music kept us going.
00:27:12And one evening.
00:27:15During chemotherapy treatment.
00:27:17There was one little window.
00:27:19And through that little window.
00:27:21The Eiffel Tower.
00:27:22It started sparkling.
00:27:24And I was like.
00:27:26She's sparkling for me.
00:27:27I thought.
00:27:28I'm not finished.
00:27:30This is not where I want to say goodbye.
00:27:38And the day that I might have one eyelash.
00:27:43Or the day I would put some make.
00:27:45A little bit of makeup on.
00:27:47It was like a big.
00:27:49A big deal.
00:27:51It was so thrilling.
00:27:54I'm like.
00:27:55Let's put diamonds on.
00:28:07It's the first time we've seen Kylie.
00:28:10Headscarf free.
00:28:14And when I got out of the danger zone.
00:28:18There was still a long way to go.
00:28:22Hi Kylie.
00:28:23Hi Kylie.
00:28:25But I just wanted to be.
00:28:27With my sister.
00:28:31London Sun newspaper broke the news.
00:28:33Kylie fans the world over.
00:28:35Have been waiting for.
00:28:36After months of chemotherapy.
00:28:38The pop princess has been declared cancer free.
00:28:44I'm already in the last one.
00:28:52Over things I can.
00:29:15Oh, I said something.
00:29:30experts call it the kylie effect a thousand more women a day are booking screenings
00:29:38now in this exclusive interview she talks for the first time
00:29:41about coping with cancer you look incredible thanks no seriously like glowy and healthy
00:29:50and sparkly eyes and smiling well i'm happy to be here i see things differently i don't
00:29:57have strength i don't have stamina i don't have everything that i took for granted before
00:30:02and i'm still going through it it's not like hey it's all over and it doesn't stop like
00:30:06that does it no it doesn't i still have treatments i didn't write much about my experience maybe
00:30:12in my life now i would but i certainly didn't feel like this is the time to do an entire
00:30:16album about what i've just been through let's see was it a conscious decision by you that
00:30:24marriage and babies come later no no i've just just rolled along oh here we go here we go
00:30:36huh what is this um i didn't think we get to there
00:30:44there's there's so much more to cancer than just you had it you got through it and you're fine
00:30:51you're fine for now um
00:30:59i was 36 when i got my diagnosis so already it's you you need to be thinking about children
00:31:08so i i did try i even postponed my chemotherapy to try um which is quite scary at the time
00:31:17because
00:31:17i just wanted you just wanted you want it out gone i want to feel
00:31:26safe i don't want this um
00:31:32but yeah i did try a few times with ibf always with such a it was such a thread of
00:31:40hope
00:31:43but i couldn't not try
00:31:48she's just amazing with kids she's always been good with kids
00:31:56just naturally one incredible two two one two good i know i'll have children
00:32:07i know that much i wouldn't have just one i definitely have more than one okay she's amazing
00:32:15with her nephews
00:32:19i never saw myself being a parent and she always did that is
00:32:33it's heartbreaking
00:32:38i did try ibf like a number of times
00:32:43if it had happened it would have been just right of a miracle
00:32:49but it didn't work out that way
00:32:54so this was like a letter to what might have been
00:33:05distant tiles my flower are you blowing in the breeze
00:33:10can you feel me as i breathe life into you
00:33:15wrapped in a blanket of hope asleep in a bed of dreams
00:33:20my step into eternity is not what it might have been
00:33:24or not at all for who knows which way the wind is going to blow
00:33:29or not at all for who knows which way the wind is going to blow
00:33:36i'm waiting for your gentle whisper
00:33:40distant child my flower are you blowing in the breeze can you feel me as i breathe life into you
00:33:50kids would you like some at some stage yeah i would love them we have to see with that
00:34:01one can't help but wonder what it would have been like and i'm so close to my family
00:34:12it just it it it wasn't it wasn't my path so that's what i was writing about like
00:34:21even if you didn't come to be you're somewhere we all become something even if it's ash and we become
00:34:30something else so it's kind of hopeful and realistic at the same time that is the end of my box
00:34:49it's like a bonfire i don't know
00:34:57having had cancer i said to my manager call so and so and so and so i understand if they
00:35:05don't want
00:35:05to work with me anymore i just thought that that might be it
00:35:13oh i knew it i knew i'd come out of all emotional
00:35:21hi i'll say hello in between people had tickets to her music show so we'd offer that they could
00:35:27you know hand their tickets back in and they would reimburse them and
00:35:35nobody did i heard that people held onto their tickets
00:35:47we're here when you're ready to come back we're here
00:35:53but i wasn't as strong i wasn't as fit
00:35:58they would have been concerned are you ready can you handle it
00:36:02so i had a mountain to climb but i didn't fancy hanging around at the bottom of the mountain
00:36:10i was like when can we fire up this tour again
00:36:15no no you do this one she was like i just need to finish the tour like she's so professional
00:36:22one three
00:36:25i'm like oh for god's sake we need to keep you alive
00:36:27okay right this one's slow right then when you leave the last one but she was determined right
00:36:33let's not think the worst step and then from here you're walking and you're bringing the hand
00:36:38out you still let it work yeah yeah i just i just wanted to feel able again that's what i
00:36:44wanted to feel
00:36:47able one two three four one two three four you could look at it that it's just a show follow
00:37:00nice but it's not just a show to me is it here it's my other home
00:37:06good news for kylie minogue fans her concert's back on in what she's now calling her homecoming tour
00:37:11the tour will be going ahead obviously she's still got a few mountains to climb
00:37:16okay all right just uh let's take a break but it wasn't easy
00:37:25i felt so drained just take it gently it felt like my body was a battleground go quicker
00:37:34it was such an effort to get up to show speed again just give me a shout if it's painful
00:37:42i had to find the strength in my voice again a little bit toward the egg just a touch okay
00:37:49okay
00:37:50i didn't actually know if i could do it oh here we are but then i started to get letters
00:38:02kylie i've never written to a celebrity before but after years of dancing around my bedroom singing
00:38:07into my hairbrush pretending to be you i couldn't not write and tell you i'm thinking of you i felt

00:38:18mum is trying
00:38:18to get some tickets for your show if you ever get scared just know that in every single second of

00:44:04Of course you learn what resilience means and what love means.
00:44:12Unbelievable.
00:44:14It's just fantastic.
00:44:18I just unbelievable.
00:44:20Can't wait for a second.
00:44:23Dad is dancing.
00:44:26Oh no, he's doing the dad dance.
00:44:30But having had cancer, one important thing to know is you're still the same person.
00:44:36And I remember coming out the other end, feeling more like myself than ever before.
00:45:26End.
00:45:30I had unfinished business.
00:45:33Let's put it that way.
00:45:36Okay, Kylie has some big news. What is it?
00:45:38Yeah, she's announced that she's going to be performing at Glastonbury Festival.
00:45:42Read my lips.
00:45:43Yeah.
00:45:45But my nerves were off the charts.
00:45:50I couldn't even say the word Glastonbury.
00:45:52It was like, that's the short show.
00:45:54Short show completely depends on the audience.
00:45:58Disappointment for many Glastonbury fans.
00:46:00Tickets sold out in 40 minutes this morning.
00:46:04The event will host around 200,000 visitors.
00:46:07This is live to TV.
00:46:08This is happening.
00:46:11Kayla says she is thrilled to be playing.
00:46:13So this will be amazeballs.
00:46:18Straight into lucky.
00:46:20No trubs.
00:46:21No trubs.
00:46:22I said trubs.
00:46:24I was terrified that it would be like Spinal Tap.
00:46:31It's kind of my job to be anxious.
00:46:33Or is it my job to pretend I'm not anxious?
00:46:35The more I try, I try to stop.
00:46:38The more I can feel.
00:46:39There's huge props on this stage.
00:46:43Oh, oh, oh.
00:46:48In the days when 410,
00:46:50I remember practically redecorating my house.
00:46:55Like, I'm just going to do something.
00:46:57I'm just going to, you know, do the...
00:46:59I do get kind of busy with decoration.
00:47:04That looks more chic than my entire life.
00:47:06Hi there.
00:47:07Hi.
00:47:08I just need to busy myself.
00:47:10Like, yep, get the garlands.
00:47:12We'll string the garlands up.
00:47:14What's she doing?
00:47:15Just leave her be.
00:47:21Tomorrow, the pyramid stage opens
00:47:24at one of the greatest festivals in the world.
00:47:27And for many people who play here,
00:47:29especially if it's their first gigs,
00:47:33this really is the calm before the storm.
00:47:55And the top story this lunchtime.
00:47:57Kylie will be getting her wellies and waterproofs ready, just in case.
00:48:00And it's the first time she's ever played Glastonbury.
00:48:02Here's a look at the line-up.
00:48:05She'll be joined at the festival by artists such as The Killers,
00:48:08Hoseye Thunpye Weekend.
00:48:11In 2005, yeah, people like me didn't really get to play Glastonbury.
00:48:16Some legends in there as well, such as Interpol, Wu-Tang Clan and The Cure.
00:48:22And so I didn't know if anyone would show up for me.
00:48:28So we are almost at the time.
00:48:30I can feel the excitement.
00:48:32Kylie Minogue got on the pyramid stage.
00:48:38I was so nervous.
00:48:40You can't even imagine.
00:48:43But someone said before David Bowie played Glastonbury,
00:48:47he couldn't talk to anyone.
00:48:50I felt a lot better.
00:48:53Even if you're David Bowie, you're still nervous.
00:49:10But it was...
00:49:14all.
00:49:22Taylor Blastonbury!
00:49:35Thank you so much!
00:49:49It was such a wave of love.
00:49:54Isn't that an incredible song?
00:49:58Do you see yourself?
00:50:00I had so much goodness from so many people.
00:50:02Can you see yourself?
00:50:04Who were there and beyond.
00:50:08Who had willed me to reach that stage.
00:50:13Dance.
00:50:15That's all I wanna do.
00:50:17So would you dance?
00:50:18It really was a point where I felt like,
00:50:21I think I might have...
00:50:24I think I might have done it.
00:50:27All the lovers that have gone before,
00:50:35they don't come in to you.
00:50:42It would have been rude to not allow that to come in.
00:50:46Because it was a marker that I wasn't able to give myself.
00:51:08I think it was the most watched Lastonbury performance of all time.
00:51:13It was beautiful to see how much love was directed at her.
00:51:17You know, what the world loves essentially about Kylie,
00:51:20is that she really went through something.
00:51:22That's the definition of joy in a way,
00:51:25which is that capacity to be able to sort of rise out of a certain suffering.
00:51:30I love you!
00:51:39And to see the world in a positive way.
00:51:46Her connection with the audience...
00:51:50It's not phony.
00:51:53It's very real for her.
00:51:57It is a true form of love.
00:52:04And that, on some level, is enough.
00:52:07Just give me a little bit more.
00:52:11They don't come in.
00:52:13Little Kylie got there.
00:52:15All the lovers.
00:52:24The one and only best in me, Kate!
00:52:29Tom!
00:52:31Were our fans nicer to you this time?
00:52:33I think they just looked at me with a kind of pity.
00:52:39Oh, he's back again.
00:52:42She knows.
00:52:42Oh, I think it's a distance.
00:52:54Let's jump in I think we should get up.
00:53:07But then...
00:53:08We're free.
00:53:08If you are one more thing out here in the audience,
00:53:09It's time it's gone.
00:53:10It's time forwiÄ…x.
00:53:11You made him.
00:53:11Should we talk about the future?
00:53:15I'm probably spending more time here.
00:53:18In this lovely peaceful environment.
00:53:21And you know, discovering whatever that thing called balance is.
00:53:28You should have been in the industry for a long time.
00:53:30It's a long time. I mean we've seen you grow up.
00:53:31How do you think you can last?
00:53:35There's a lot of borderline insulting questions about my age these days.
00:53:38And being a woman in the industry, when do you stop?
00:53:42How long can you go on?
00:53:43I can't envisage an old grey Eileen Anole doing all that kind of stuff.
00:53:48No, I don't know.
00:53:49I don't think anyone knows how long it will go for.
00:53:52And I don't know how long I'll want it to go for.
00:53:54There might come a day where I'll think,
00:53:56okay, I'd really like to sort of stop.
00:54:01So there's definitely times where I think,
00:54:03what would happen if I got off the merry-go-round?
00:54:07Just did nothing.
00:54:16But I am my own worst enemy.
00:54:19It's like, go away everyone!
00:54:22Where is everyone?
00:54:27Maximum three days between those two phrases.
00:54:30Sometimes just a few hours.
00:54:34Breaking news, Kylie put out the single from her 16th album.
00:54:39No sign she's slowing down.
00:54:44Next thing.
00:54:45We're going on tour!
00:54:48Kylie is back with a song that people are saying is her raciest single yet.
00:54:55And it's an absolute banger.
00:54:56The year's biggest dance here.
00:54:59What?
00:55:00Oh my God!
00:55:01Oh my God!
00:55:08It felt like I was just getting started.
00:55:11It's the song of the summer, and it's gone viral.
00:55:14There you go.
00:55:19The Grammy goes to...
00:55:20Where your heart goes...
00:55:22The Grammy goes to...
00:55:25Paddam, Paddam!

00:56:04Oi.
00:56:05So, have you been running through songs, running through vocals, and we're getting there?
00:56:09Maybe start with the least done.
00:56:12I don't want my first Christmas with you.
00:56:18Ooh, I feel you getting close.
00:56:23Baby, baby, baby.
00:56:30I've got to get involved.
00:56:32I've got to get involved.
00:56:46I've got to get involved.
00:56:55And I'm going to do the least.
00:56:58I can't get involved.
00:57:07He's done.
00:57:08I can't get involved.
00:57:09I can't get involved.
00:57:12I can't get involved.
00:57:14I can't get involved.
00:57:15got next we've written the songs that probably no one would ever know what
00:57:18they're about apart from you and me and to hear them live it's difficult beautiful but difficult
00:57:43there's a song that we wrote a song called story and story was written because
00:58:00my second cancer diagnosis was in early 2021
00:58:10I don't want it I just so
00:58:15I was able to keep that to myself and go through that year and
00:58:22not like the first time I don't even think do you know I don't think you don't know this
00:58:39wow I've been trying to find that the right
00:58:44the right time to to say it I don't feel obliged to tell the world
00:58:49and actually I just couldn't at the time because I was I was just a shell of a person
00:58:59I didn't want to leave the house again at one point
00:59:04but um but um opened so many doors to me but
00:59:06on the inside I knew that cancer wasn't just a blip in my life
00:59:12and I really just wanted to say
00:59:19what happened so I can let go of it hi how are you well we're great and I've got to
00:59:27say
00:59:28congratulations on the album I've sit through interviews the reviews have been and every
00:59:33opportunity I thought now's the time how are you feeling right now but I kept it to myself
00:59:41so I needed to have something that marked that time
00:59:48do you know the chords

01:00:08I had a secret that I kept to myself
01:00:11yeah
01:00:14I had a one way ticket that was going nowhere
01:00:20you could be the one
01:00:22you could be my father
01:00:24thankfully I got through it
01:00:26again
01:00:29and all is well
01:00:33hey who knows what's around the corner
01:00:38but pop music nurtures me
01:00:43pop can elate you if you're feeling depressed it can soothe you
01:00:48it can be a type of salvation for some people
01:00:56my passion for music is greater than ever
01:01:00there's that song that hasn't been written there's that person to read
01:01:04so my story continues and you are part of my story
01:01:08I did a walk on the wild side
01:01:11a fall in the night sky
01:01:12I didn't let the world know I
01:01:14I was fighting the big fight
01:01:17turning the clock like raging
01:01:19hard on the other side
01:01:25hard on the other side
01:01:32you said

01:02:00turning on the plane
01:02:01turning on the plane
01:02:05If our light were to shine, every tear that I cry
01:02:08A million stars would be shining tonight
01:02:12If a bell were to ring, every if, every why
01:02:15The symphony sound would be higher than high
01:02:19I've been alone, been alone in the rain
01:02:23Wondering how everything's gonna change
01:02:26But when you tell me you see the world in my eyes
01:02:30Then I call my life
01:02:33Then I call my life
01:02:37Light up
01:02:40Under stars I'll shine for you
01:02:44Oh, light up
01:02:48And your magic fills the form
01:02:51Oh, light up
01:02:52I never wanna see the blue
01:02:56Oh, light up
01:02:59I never wanna see the blue
01:03:03Oh, light up in the sky
01:03:08There's a light up in the night
