A 41-year-old teacher pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, to five charges involving a 14-year-old student on Wednesday (May 20).

00:01A 41-year-old teacher pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court in Saremban on Wednesday
00:06to five sexual offence charges involving a 14-year-old student.
00:11Nurul Ashikhin Sutan Shahril claimed trial before Sessions Judge Siti Aisha Abrasheed.
00:16The most serious charge accuses her of committing carnal intercourse against the Order of Nature
00:22at a house in Saremban at about 1.30pm on April 7.
00:27The charge is framed under Section 377b of the Penal Code,
00:32read together with Section 16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,
00:38which provides for heavier penalties for offenders in positions of trust over their victims.
00:43If convicted, she faces up to 20 years imprisonment and whipping under Section 377b,
00:51along with an additional jail term of up to five years and at least two strokes of the cane
00:56under Section 16.
00:59She also claimed trial to two charges of physical sexual assault,
01:03allegedly committed between September 12 and 20 last year and on April 7 this year,
01:09in a residential area and an apartment in Saremban.
01:13Nurul Ashikhin further pleaded not guilty to two charges of non-physical sexual assault,
01:19allegedly committed between September 13 last year and April 10 this year at an apartment in Saremban.
01:25The offences carry a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment,
01:30a fine of up to 20,000 ringgit or both.
01:33Judge Siti Aisha set bail at 5,000 ringgit for each charge
01:38and allowed all additional conditions requested by the prosecution.
01:42The court fixed July 1 for the next case mention,
