00:01This week we're in Leeds Financial District
00:04where our designers are doing up high-end studios for trendy renters.
00:08And whilst Martha Stiggs had bedbugs,
00:11these swanky flats have a private gym.
00:14So, while the designers are working on their plans,
00:17I'm going to start working on my...
00:19guns.
00:32Oh, Simon, I was wondering where our curtain pole had gone.
00:38Welcome to Interior Design Masters.
00:40Screw that down tight, it's heavier than it looks.
00:47Five designers remain, hoping to work with a major high street retailer
00:52to design and launch their own collection.
00:55Last time, the designers landed on a navy base.
00:58Whoa!
01:00That's a piece of machinery.
01:01To transform Sailor's Mestix.
01:03I've never been able to do that in a room in my life.
01:07Leah created a home from home.
01:09You're so Italian.
01:11And one standout space.
01:13I've always wanted to hear Michelle show my name that hairdo.
01:16Duran and Sophie ended up on the sofa.
01:19You are not creating theme park rooms here.
01:22But it was Johnny.
01:23You got distracted by what you love.
01:25It led you off down the wrong path.
01:28Who was sent home.
01:29This experience to me has just meant everything.
01:31I'm really good.
01:32I don't want to go home.
01:44It's such a crazy feeling.
01:46I'm so happy that I've got this far.
01:48I've been wanting to do an apartment.
01:50I'm watching you.
01:51Yeah, I know.
01:52I'm scared.
01:52I'm scared.
01:53I'm on standout speeds.
01:55Which I'm still buzzing about.
01:58Here we are.
01:59I know.
02:00I've got to focus on the next challenge.
02:03Not get too big for my boots.
02:05My freshman, I lived with five boys.
02:08Same.
02:08The cockroach house.
02:09Okay.
02:10Was that actually the men?
02:11Wasn't it actually cockroaches?
02:14Just my nickname for them.
02:17I feel like after being on the sofa, it's made me go, right, okay, we've got to do this
02:22now.
02:22Hi guys.
02:24Hello.
02:24Hello.
02:26Oh.
02:27So here they are, the famous five in week five.
02:30How are you doing?
02:31Good.
02:32So you ready to do it all over again?
02:35Yeah.
02:35Yes.
02:36Oh my God.
02:38So this week, to quote my favourite band M People, you're moving on.
02:4720 floors in fact, transforming studio apartments in Leeds.
02:56With a thriving job market and more bang for your buck when it comes to renting, the vibrant
03:02city of Leeds is an attractive destination to set up homes.
03:07And right in the heart of the financial district is a new apartment block.
03:13Offering 70 studio rentals complete with private cinema, co-working spaces, a jazz lounge,
03:21a gym, and even a bowling alley.
03:25Each designer will be turning a blank studio flat into a show apartment to attract young
03:31renters.
03:36The idea behind this development is to make renting more attractive than buying.
03:41So you need to make your designs really desirable.
03:45But they are also studio apartments, so you're asking potential renters to put their entire
03:50lives into one space.
03:52So I need you to think smart.
03:54They have to work really hard to cover everything from sleeping to eating, but also entertaining
03:59and maybe working from home.
04:01And the guest judge this week knows exactly what you're facing.
04:05She's redesigning a new build and she's also been a contestant on Interior Design Masters.
04:10In fact, she was so good, she only went and won the blooming thing.
04:15It's the fabulous Lindsay Ford.
04:17Oh!
04:18No way!
04:19I love her!
04:21At the end of the challenge, one of you will be sent packing, but the others will have
04:25bagsied a place in the quarter-final.
04:28You've got two days and a budget of £1,700.
04:32So good luck and we'll see you up Northcock.
04:44High up in the Leeds city skyline, our designers are about to see their studio apartments.
04:50I think this is us.
04:52Come on, it's a big building.
04:53I think it's amazing.
04:54I'm actually thinking I might not like heights.
04:56That might be an issue then.
04:58Yeah!
04:58Shut the bedroom window in the morning.
05:02Ooh, this is cosy.
05:06Yeah, it should work.
05:08It's gotta work.
05:09Renters would pay around £1,100 a month for studio.
05:13I actually really love it.
05:15It's quite an amazing view.
05:16I hope it works.
05:18And this includes all the amenities and the furniture in the apartment.
05:23I am obsessed with this wallpaper, not gonna lie.
05:26Like, who can't look at that and say that's not fun?
05:28But our designers are creating a show home.
05:31This is actually my dream brief.
05:33I think my inspiration for this space are the people that I know.
05:36So they have the freedom to change whatever they like to get renters to sign up.
05:41I'll take it.
05:43In the morning.
05:48Ooh.
05:50Yes, I got a bit.
05:53I'm gonna be ballsy this week and that was so horribly cheesy, I'm sorry.
05:58Yeah, there's not much in there.
06:00Which makes me nervous cos I'm seeing everyone else's and they're very full and I'm like,
06:03Oh, have I got enough stuff?
06:08Get rid of them weight walls.
06:11I'm gonna grab my balls.
06:12Yeah, get your balls.
06:13Both got balls.
06:15With my hat.
06:17I know you don't approve.
06:19See you later.
06:19See you later.
06:27Hello.
06:28We're checking in.
06:29To turn their studios into a renters dream.
06:32Hello.
06:34Morning.
06:35The designers will team up with both a carpenter and a decorator.
06:39I want to give you a hug but I'm gonna have to get on my ladder.
06:42This is a bit smaller than I thought.
06:44We're gonna make it feel bigger though.
06:46Okay.
06:47Shall I show you what we're gonna do?
06:48How are we gonna do that?
06:49Yeah.
06:51We're going like 70s nostalgic but with a modern twist.
06:56Yes.
06:56We've got this really fun wallpaper which will be going up in the living area just on one wall
07:03because I appreciate she's quite bright and the headboard.
07:06So it'll be like this idea.
07:09Yeah.
07:09A lolly stick sort of style.
07:11Yeah.
07:11Sponge fingers.
07:12Sponge fingers.
07:14Leah is embracing her maximalist signature style with a 70s retro theme.
07:20As well as her funky wallpaper she will be using burgundy cream and caramel to create a homely space.
07:26She'll be constructing a partition which will double up as a room divider to close off the bedroom.
07:33She's drenching the divider and the bedroom ceiling in a rich burgundy and creating the ombre velvet bed head.
07:41She's swapping out the modern living room rental furniture for second hand finds and she's using her staging skills by
07:49adding dried flowers, textiles and a jukebox which she's turning into a cocktail bar.
07:57So I'm just taking the top part off that used to be the jukebox part.
08:02This is a show apartment so I want to be finished up with a good two to three hours to
08:09add finishing touches.
08:11I was a bit stressed last week.
08:13Didn't have the best week but I'm bringing the positive energy this week because it's quarter-final next week and
08:19I really, really, really want to be in there so there's a lot going on.
08:22Right. There's a lot. The hallway a lovely rich brown.
08:26Yeah.
08:27That's going to follow them through into the bedroom on the lower half.
08:30We're going to be wallpaper in the top half. Ceilings are going to be beige.
08:33There's going to be a light blue dining room organic shape that comes up onto the ceiling and I'm going
08:38to lime wash the rest.
08:39Brilliant.
08:40So yeah, sound like a plan?
08:41Absolutely, yeah.
08:42Awesome.
08:43Lots to do.
08:44Lots to do as always.
08:48It's time management. I just seem to lose track of time all the time.
08:53Let's go.
08:53Let's go.
08:55I need to come up with a plan. I need to come up with timings and I need to stick
08:58to them.
09:03Hello.
09:04Dancer Duran is checking out artist Emily's plan for her apartment.
09:08This has thrown me the most about the apartments is just how like central the bedroom is to the kitchen.
09:13That would be doing a partition wall just to separate the bedroom from the kitchen.
09:17If you were living here, would that be like a priority for you to like block off the bedroom a
09:22bit?
09:22Because I can't sleep well unless I'm like...
09:26You're cocooned.
09:27Yeah.
09:27Yeah.
09:28Because at the moment it does feel a bit exposed but it is what it is.
09:32I mean this is the reality of like having a studio flat. This is what it's like, isn't it?
09:36You could always do a shower curtain if you wanted to.
09:39I'll leave that to you.
09:41Stop getting in my head.
09:44I'm most worried about just how open the space is.
09:47So I just hope that the space reads as a whole but then also does feel like it's got those
09:53zones.
09:53Which is really important to me because I think you want to feel like you've got somewhere to retreat to.
09:59I hope that I've done a good job, you know, with my design and my planning.
10:02So now it's just about executing it and getting all those details in.
10:06So this is going to be the rooms, divider, separator, storage.
10:11Yeah.
10:12Multifunctional piece.
10:13Like Emily, Leah's also planning a bedroom divider.
10:16So we'll then add a backing to this.
10:19Yeah.
10:20So we'll block off the view into the room just to make it completely private if they want to hide
10:24away all their nonsense.
10:26Yeah.
10:27Let's get cutting.
10:35So with the partition wall, simple, functional, clean, incorporate a lot of like wooden elements.
10:42I don't know, I'm really proud of this and hopefully we can pull it off, which I'm sure we will.
10:46It'll make it lovely.
10:46I'm excited.
10:47Cool.
10:48All right.
10:49So this is going to be the bedroom area for the studio.
10:53And my plans to kind of section it off from the rest of the living space is this suspended room
10:58divider.
10:58To make that work though, we're going to need like a timber frame that kind of goes from the wall
11:04and across here.
11:05And then the divider being suspended from that.
11:08Okay.
11:11Ajit is going all out with his modern nostalgia style.
11:15The suspended Japanese style divider will screen off his brown bedroom from the kitchen area,
11:20where he's adding an island out of old scaffold boards.
11:23He's also zoning the rest of the apartment in different colours,
11:27a deep orangey brown circle for the entrance hall,
11:30a metallic wallpaper for his dining area and a rich teal in his living room.
11:35Ajit will swap out the original rental furniture for a red Chesterfield, a mid-century sideboard and coffee table.
11:43So the inspiration for my design really is quite a self-indulgent inspiration.
11:47I'm bringing like a mini version of my home into the studio apartment.
11:50There's quite a lot of similar colours, textures that I'm bringing into that.
11:54But it's certainly my best design that I've done to date in my own home.
11:58And so I felt like that's the best thing.
11:59My best chances to get me into the quarter finals is to maybe bring that in.
12:03Sophie is getting her paint up and work is about to begin on her bedroom partition.
12:08You scare me.
12:09Hello.
12:10Hi.
12:11We haven't got enough wood.
12:13We've only got enough wood for the cabinet.
12:15What?
12:16It's taken two sheets to build the cabinet.
12:18Ooh.
12:19It's 400.
12:19You're only getting...
12:20Right.
12:21Let me go and order some more wood.
12:23I'm stressed.
12:24I'm so stressed.
12:25Okay.
12:26Well, okay.
12:27One sheet will do everything.
12:29Right.
12:32The only designer not building a partition to the bedroom is Duran.
12:36She's opting to embrace the open space by using a faded terracotta colour drench throughout
12:41the flat.
12:42To me, that's the perfect colour.
12:45I want this colour in my home now.
12:47It looks so good.
12:48Do you like it?
12:50No, I don't like it.
12:51You don't like it?
12:51No.
12:52I love it.
12:59When Michelle first said we were off to Yorkshire, I grabbed my Emmerdale Autograph
13:04book.
13:05But the new financial district in Leeds is a whole different vibe.
13:10Fingers crossed the designers' apartments will be pushing all the right buttons.
13:14Floor 20, here I come.
13:20Move for a little one.
13:22Alan, we'll be over the limit if you get in.
13:26It's all right.
13:27I'll take the stairs.
13:33Not enough room in the lift.
13:35How dare they?
13:36I'll run this show.
13:42Me having to do stairs.
13:44I'm a national treasure.
13:49Alan, there you are.
13:51Where have you been?
13:51The views are really breathtaking.
13:54The designers are that way.
13:58I hope we're doing bungalows next week.
14:09Duran!
14:10Hello!
14:12Oh, look at this!
14:13Do you like it?
14:14I love it.
14:16Your squiggles always go down so well.
14:19Well, I hope so.
14:21They do.
14:22People love the squiggles.
14:23It's just sometimes you don't think of the client.
14:25I know.
14:26I get carried away.
14:27No.
14:28Not this week though.
14:30Really?
14:30Yeah, I'm thinking of myself and the client.
14:33Ah, that's good.
14:35I think you're going to win it with this squiggle on the wall.
14:37I think you said that to me last time.
14:39Yeah.
14:39I'm going to keep saying...
14:41I'm being optimistic even if you're not.
14:48I'm doing a lime wash effect.
14:50As a specialist painter, Sophie is getting some texture
14:53as well as colour up on the walls.
14:55It's a textured effect, so it just brings, I think,
14:59just a lot of depth to a wall that would otherwise be flat.
15:01There's a lot of painting to do overall.
15:05I've taught myself to paint because I loved changing my house
15:09every five minutes.
15:11Yeah, now I do it for a living, which is great.
15:22Ooh!
15:23She's dark and juicy.
15:25What do you think?
15:26Yeah, it's really nice.
15:27I really like it.
15:29Painting it a dark colour naturally can sometimes
15:32make the face space feel smaller.
15:33But I wanted this bit to feel cosy,
15:35so that's why I picked this darker colour.
15:38Love, love, love.
15:40Emily is also going for it with a deep red ceiling to create warmth.
15:45I mean, I love it.
15:47Push your last lap some paint on.
15:48Yeah, just get it on.
15:48We're not even doing a tester any more because I love it.
15:51Let's do it.
15:52I like it.
15:53It's really nice.
15:54I'm going to just stop doubting myself.
15:56Stop faffing.
15:57All of the learning that I've done and all of the growth,
16:00I don't want to stop.
16:01I'm going to ignore all the horrible little voices in my head
16:04that just say that I'm not good enough.
16:05I've just got to, you know, have a bit of faith in me and my design.
16:10Ajit is using dark and moody teal in his studio.
16:14So there is a lot of decorating that needs to be done,
16:16especially when you're creating different zones in one small space.
16:19So to try and keep that balance and also finesse those different zones as well,
16:24I'm leaving that in Steve's capable hands.
16:26You ready for this?
16:27Yeah.
16:27All right.
16:29Ooh, ooh.
16:31Very, very icy.
16:32Glacier blue.
16:33Very light.
16:34Very light.
16:35Great, great with the beige.
16:36Yeah.
16:37So the idea is this is going to zone the dining space.
16:41OK.
16:41So dining table and chairs will be sort of in this area.
16:44OK, brilliant.
16:45Let's get it on then.
16:45Slap it on, let's have a look at it.
16:47Let's get it on.
16:47Two pounds.
16:48Be all right.
16:48Yeah.
16:50Hey, Sophie.
16:52Hi, Alan.
16:53Hi.
16:53How are you going?
16:54Good, how are you?
16:56Mmm.
16:57The brown.
16:58Yeah?
16:58Yeah.
16:59What?
17:00I love brown.
17:04I love it.
17:05I know I do as well.
17:07Stop it.
17:07It's just browns can be quite a divisive colour.
17:09They can.
17:10Yeah.
17:11But, oh, God, you make me nervous now.
17:13No, don't be stupid.
17:14I love, honestly, brown.
17:17Oh, no.
17:18No, don't.
17:18Don't listen to me.
17:19I love brown.
17:21I've got to stop saying brown.
17:23So listen, so tell me, so what is this then?
17:25So this is peel and stick wallpaper.
17:27Obviously, these are rental apartments, so super easy to just whip it off at the end.
17:31Yeah.
17:32But, do you want to help me get this last piece on?
17:34Yeah, of course, of course.
17:35Right, I'll tell you what.
17:36You grab hold of that underneath.
17:38Yeah.
17:39And very slowly just pull it down.
17:43Oh, God.
17:45Nice and slow.
17:46Oh, this is so tense.
17:49That's it.
17:50Is this...?
17:51Yeah, that's looking great.
17:53You're only doing this so I start bowing at your feet.
17:57What would you do if I whipped out an engagement ring?
17:59Oh, I'd say yes, of course.
18:01Thank you, right answer.
18:09And other designers are following suit on the wallpaper trail.
18:14This looks great.
18:16Oh, I can actually really feel that dropping a little bit.
18:20And that almost feels like a bit of a lofty vibe going there.
18:24Yeah, really pleased with that.
18:26I've used a lot of colour to kind of create different zones in this space.
18:30And I just wanted to throw in a bit more texture to help to be able to do that.
18:35Oh, my gosh.
18:37Hello.
18:38Hello, mate.
18:38It's dark.
18:40Going dark?
18:42Of course I'm going dark.
18:43That's fun.
18:44You're feeling good, like you're in control?
18:46Yeah, it's all feeling pretty good.
18:47The colour's on and so that's feeling pretty good.
18:49The colours feel very you.
18:51Yeah?
18:52Yeah, complete opposite to mine.
18:53I'm really light.
18:55Everything's really light.
18:57Mine's a bit, yeah, feels a bit younger, but I don't think that's a bad thing.
19:00No, I don't think that's a bad thing.
19:01I mean, like, what is age, Duran, really?
19:03What is age?
19:05How are you feeling about this week, you know, one week away from quarter-final?
19:08I know, it's pretty scary.
19:10I think it's a really difficult time to go.
19:13Yeah, it does feel like things have shifted to gear.
19:15Oh, yeah.
19:16I feel it.
19:17I feel it.
19:18I'm fighting all of you now.
19:27In a bid to get ahead in the competition, the designers are adding some comfort and style
19:33to their bedroom spaces.
19:35I've got my carpenter, Christian, to cut me out these sponge fingers, which are going
19:40to make the headboard.
19:41We're just going to upholster each of them individually because they're going to be like
19:46an ombre effect colour.
19:49It's just going to look really nice.
19:52I'm one of these people that, when I'm stressed, I like to do a DIY, which I'm sure some people
19:58find horrendous, but when I used to work in the office, I used to come home from work
20:03at six o'clock at night and then decide that I was going to re-wallpaper the bathroom,
20:07and everyone's saying something about nuts.
20:09But to me, that was like, that's my downtime.
20:26Oh, cute! I've never made a headboard before.
20:29Sophie is finally making some headway.
20:31I like it.
20:36I'm upholstering my headboard.
20:38The roll wasn't wide enough to do this length with the pattern the other way around.
20:44So I was contemplating sewing two panels together and then realised that was a stupid idea.
20:51I just don't have the luxury of time to try and do that.
20:54I mean, yeah, time is ticking.
21:04Uh, making a set of cushions for my sofa.
21:09Um, I found some really great fabric from my local scrap store in Teating in South West London.
21:15My parents moved there when they first came to the UK in the 70s.
21:19My mum used to run a community centre there.
21:21There's not many people in that local community who would have the opportunity to do something like this.
21:25So I do just want to sort of do them proud as well in all of this.
21:29So, um, each week, as I've been kind of dodging that sofa,
21:34um, it feels like the successes of each of those challenges is almost a success for them too.
21:38So, um, kind of bringing that to them.
21:54It's all about the wood for Duran's headboard.
21:57Duran!
21:58Oh, my God!
22:00You've done it!
22:02I need to look.
22:03Don't get too excited.
22:04Why?
22:04So if it fits yet?
22:06It will fit.
22:07I have absolute faith.
22:09It looks amazing.
22:11I want this in my house.
22:14Look at that.
22:16You're so clever.
22:17Look at how you're going.
22:18I love it.
22:19It looks, honestly, it looks amazing.
22:21Yep.
22:25It is a triangle because I think bringing in shape into a small space
22:30it's just really good for inspiring you but also just giving you some interest
22:34in what kind of feels quite flat and empty and a bit boring initially.
22:39So this is going to make it a bit more fun and feel young and fresh and cool.
22:50Also on the stain train, Emily's getting to work on her headboard.
22:55I'm currently staining my plywood.
23:00Like, it's just, I love it.
23:01But this is my favourite bit of the whole competition.
23:04It's like putting all of, like, your week of designing into, like, a physical space.
23:11And I think initially it's quite scary because it's, there's nowhere to hide.
23:16But then when everything finally starts to come together, it's just like, oh, this is why I'm here, you know?
23:21And I love it.
23:25With the big builds hitting completion, it's moving in day.
23:34My divider!
23:35Oh, my gosh!
23:37I love it!
23:42Great.
23:43I can really start to see the different zones of the apartment.
23:50A sense of multiple rooms in that one tiny space.
23:53It's been a solid first day, I'd say.
23:56That's all sweet.
23:57Just really comfortable on my new island.
24:00Cool. D1 done.
24:02Ready for tomorrow.
24:04I mean, I feel like I have control of the space as a whole.
24:10And I'm finding that really enjoyable and probably, like, how a designer should feel.
24:16End of day one.
24:19I don't know how I'm feeling.
24:22Big day tomorrow.
24:35It's day two of the studio apartment builds in Leeds.
24:39How are you guys feeling?
24:40Yeah.
24:40There's so much to do.
24:42Are you on track?
24:43No.
24:45Oh, well.
24:46It'll be okay.
24:50Hello.
24:51Morning.
24:52Yeah, good.
24:53How are you guys?
24:54Good.
24:54Yeah, good.
24:54I think we're at a really good place.
24:56I can see four miles and miles.
24:59Full of energy.
25:01Day two vibes.
25:04Let's get it going.
25:05Let's go.
25:06Yeah.
25:06Good luck.
25:07Cheers.
25:09Morning.
25:09How are you doing?
25:09Morning.
25:11How are we?
25:12Good.
25:12Good stuff.
25:14Today I feel a lot better.
25:16I've slept on it.
25:18I've got up.
25:18I've had a word with myself.
25:19It's going to be fine.
25:22It's snowy.
25:23I'm just making a campus grass cloud.
25:26Leaning into her theme, Leah's keeping it 70s retro.
25:30So, when Pampers grass comes, it's like, it's got loads of really loose bits in it.
25:35So, to save it going everywhere.
25:37And to open all the branches out, chuck it out the window, give it a good smack.
25:43It's actually really good anger management.
25:46And then I'll spray them with hairspray, just to keep them a little bit stiffer.
25:51And hold their shape, because now they'll be really fluffy.
25:55Hi, Leah.
25:56Hey, Alan.
25:57How are you doing?
25:58You okay?
25:59Hi.
26:01I love it.
26:02It's big, isn't it?
26:03It's enormous.
26:04What is that then?
26:05Is that your divider?
26:06That's my divider from the bedroom to the kind of open space kitchen area, so that we
26:11can have a bit more privacy in the bedroom.
26:14I like your style.
26:18Why are you putting a furball in the window?
26:21To attract all the swingers.
26:23You know about this?
26:25I do, yes.
26:25Yes.
26:26It's a bit annoying, because I love pampas grass, but people get the wrong idea.
26:30Really?
26:31I think the lady doth protest too much.
26:34So, I'm being thick.
26:36Is this going to stay in front of the window the whole time?
26:38No, it's going above the dining table.
26:41Obviously, we've got all the spotlights, so what I really miss is, like, ceiling lighting.
26:45Yeah.
26:45So, instead of dropping a ceiling light, I'm going to drop the pampas cloud above.
26:49Oh, good, because I thought with this in the window, that's, yeah, that's...
26:52You're blocking the beautiful view.
26:53Yeah, of course.
26:53You're going to see beautiful leads.
26:56So, listen, let's have a look.
26:57Oh, hello.
26:58Chicka, chicka, wow, wow.
27:00Yeah.
27:01Oh, it's lovely, yeah.
27:02But is that, you know, we're talking about themes and everything.
27:06How 70s is it going?
27:08This is as 70s as it is.
27:10Really?
27:10This is like the feature.
27:12Yeah.
27:12And everything else is calm.
27:14Okay.
27:15So, I'm going to be devil's advocate.
27:17Yeah.
27:18Okay.
27:18Now, listen, I love 70s.
27:20I was born in 1976.
27:22I know you won't believe it.
27:24No, I don't.
27:25It was the 60s.
27:26Wow.
27:27I so hope you're on the sofa this week.
27:33Now, I suppose I have to remember that things are cyclical and there's...
27:37Yeah.
27:38The young people are going, oh, my God, I love this.
27:41You know what I mean?
27:41And there was some amazing, like, design styles from the 70s that are still in so many modern homes now,
27:46but was from the 70s.
27:47So, it never goes out of fashion, if you like.
27:49So, basically, what you're saying to me is, zip it, granddad.
27:52Yeah, that's it.
27:53You've got it on the shelf there.
27:56Well, all right.
27:57I'm just going to go now.
27:58My walker's over here.
28:00Oh, perfect.
28:01Zimmer has arrived.
28:04Good luck.
28:05See you later.
28:12I was thinking about putting my friend's art in it, just so I didn't have to deal with the backlash
28:17if the art was taken negatively.
28:21But...
28:23I'm going to be brave and do my own artwork in here.
28:26And I think I've just got into my head just a little bit too much about ending up on the
28:31sofa and having to talk about why I've added art.
28:34I'm just going to go for it and have some balls because...
28:39You know, look where I am.
28:46Have you measured it?
28:47Is it going to even go in?
28:50Give it a little twist.
28:51Do you reckon?
28:52Yeah.
28:53Oh, like that.
28:55Yeah, perfect.
28:56All right, and then if you want, twist it again towards me.
28:58Was that you or the setting?
29:00No, that was the setting.
29:01Don't worry.
29:01Okay.
29:02Here we go.
29:05Look at that.
29:07Yes.
29:08There you go.
29:08Pull up a pew.
29:10Look at that.
29:11Has it got a kettle in here?
29:15And a cup and maybe a biscuit?
29:17May have ran out of budget on that front.
29:19I was fishing for a cup of tea, but that's fine.
29:21I'll go.
29:23Thanks so much, Alan.
29:24My pleasure.
29:25I'll send you an invoice.
29:27Oh.
29:33I'm just cleaning the space so I can get the sofa in.
29:37Emily is keeping the studio's rental sofa, but has to decide whether to keep it in the same place.
29:43I could stick to the original plan, but that view for me is better to be viewed from here.
29:49I think that bit of green there is something that someone would want to view if they're sat down.
29:54Not against the wall, makes it look cheap.
29:57Okay.
29:58But that is literally like what you want to be looking at down there.
30:02It's gorgeous.
30:09Yeah.
30:09Perfect.
30:10Perfect.
30:12Headboard looks killer.
30:14I thought about switching up some of the furniture, but I wanted to be able to show potential renters,
30:21like, look, this is what you can do with this apartment using the furniture that you're given.
30:26So, with the table that comes with the apartment, I am not happy with that black, shiny block.
30:33The new supply that is being used throughout the space, varnished in the teak.
30:39Hi, Emily.
30:40Oh, this is sophisticated, isn't it?
30:44That painting from this angle just makes it look so much bigger.
30:49I can do fun, but sophisticated together.
30:51You can do fun.
30:52I can.
30:53Do you know what?
30:54I was thinking, you know your image?
30:56Yeah.
30:56It's very like Wednesday.
30:57Yeah.
30:58But actually, you're more like a bank holiday Monday.
31:02You know what I mean?
31:02I was thinking.
31:03So, listen.
31:04So, what are we doing here now?
31:05I'm adding marine ply to the back of this just to get rid of those tiles.
31:11Yeah.
31:11But you can take it away when you move out.
31:13Okay, that's good, because remember, it is a rental.
31:16It is a rental.
31:17Would you like to do the honours?
31:19Of course, love.
31:19Let's get rid of the shiny tiles.
31:21All right, get rid of it.
31:22Anything you want.
31:23It's not set in there.
31:23It is.
31:25Okay.
31:26So.
31:27Like that.
31:28Yeah.
31:29Oh, push it that way.
31:30Oh, look at your hands.
31:32There we go.
31:32I think it's really pretty.
31:33Do you know what I think?
31:33It's good.
31:34It does.
31:34And it's made it look more sophisticated.
31:38And do you think, now it's all sort of coming together, could you sleep there and have
31:42a good night's kip?
31:43I reckon so, because I'm a bit separated from the main space.
31:47Mmm.
31:48Do you not think?
31:48Yeah.
31:49I mean, I could sleep anywhere, mate.
31:51You can stay on the sofa and I'll take the bed.
31:54Yes, I would like that.
31:56Let's do that.
31:56Yeah, that's good.
31:57Lovely.
31:59Oh, this relationship's moving quite fast.
32:02I only popped in to look at your flashback.
32:05Flashback.
32:06Can't wait for day three.
32:08See you in a bit.
32:09See you in a bit.
32:10Bye.
32:11Bye.
32:20Leah is also getting a bit steamy as the designers get to work finishing their bedrooms.
32:26Steaming the sheets to get the creases out so the bed looks nicely made.
32:30Nothing worse than creased sheets.
32:33My gran used to iron pants.
32:36She'd be outraged to find out that I don't iron anything now.
32:39Life's too short for ironing.
32:43I hate making beds.
32:44I find out the most boring thing.
32:46I mean, I like the satisfaction after, but the process is like...
32:50I think making your bed every day is a must.
32:54I will never leave my house without making it.
32:56So if this encourages people to make their bed every day, then good,
32:59because it's good for the mind.
33:00It's good when you come home after a long day and it's nice and clean.
33:05Does Duran want to come and make this one?
33:07I think she takes great satisfaction in getting the pillars lined up.
33:19Hello?
33:21Designers, you've got less than an hour!
33:24Bye!
33:33One hour left.
33:35I'm vibrating.
33:40Definitely a busy hour ahead, but we're good.
33:43Most, like, all my furniture is here, all my styling pieces are here,
33:45so it's just a case of laying it all out now.
33:52How do you slat on a rug?
33:53I got this sofa for £120, and it's in such good condition.
33:59It literally looks brand new.
34:00Bargain!
34:03Oh, wow. That looks great.
34:05I'm so happy with this rug.
34:06I actually really wish I'd kept it from my own house,
34:08but there's a competition to be won.
34:10But eight quid.
34:12So cheap.
34:13Someone's rubbish is my treasure.
34:22So stressed.
34:31Well, we've done it, guys.
34:32Yes.
34:33We have.
34:33Smashed it.
34:34Happy with it?
34:35Yeah.
34:35Very happy.
34:35Thank you guys so much.
34:37Have you enjoyed working with me?
34:39Well, you've grown on me.
34:41Yeah.
34:42Anyway, see you next time.
34:43Yeah.
34:43See you next time.
34:44Thank you guys so much.
34:48Bye.
34:49Bye.
34:49Bye.
34:59Lindsay Ford is an architect and interior designer.
35:02She won interior design masters in 2021.
35:05It's Lindsay.
35:08And has gone on to design show apartments, houses and communal spaces
35:12that showcase the beauty of secondhand furniture and sustainable interiors.
35:17So Lindsay, how does it feel being on the other side, judging, not competing?
35:22Very strange, but exciting.
35:24I can't wait to see what they're doing, but I do know how they feel.
35:27And it is nerve-wracking at this point.
35:29I want to see these designers' style, but in a way that meets the brief,
35:34that is appealing to all.
35:35But I also want to see someone that's really considered
35:38how someone will live in this space.
35:40Because now we're picking our quarter-finalists.
35:43Oh.
35:43Yes.
35:44Yes, it's five designers.
35:46We'll become the four quarter-finalists.
35:48Our designers are really designing for a new way of living.
35:51Asking someone to bring their entire life to one small studio apartment,
35:56but within a building that offers them so many other facilities.
36:00Also trying to make renting seem more attractive than buying.
36:12I think even I surprised myself with this one.
36:15I feel like just the side that I didn't even know was in me
36:19has come out through the design.
36:23Ooh.
36:24So this is Emily's room.
36:26Wow.
36:27I'm loving that deep burgundy on the ceiling that just sort of
36:29takes you straight through the space.
36:31It's taking you straight out to that view.
36:34Yeah.
36:35You walk in and it is one space, it's a studio,
36:39but I haven't seen a bed yet.
36:41I love that.
36:42Look, we've got a whole beautiful bed nook here.
36:46Which is lovely, isn't it?
36:47I really like this little divider.
36:49It feels very calm.
36:51Yeah, yeah.
36:52I actually really love the refined palette.
36:54Like, this wood here has been staying the same as the headboard,
36:57which has been staying the same as the splashback,
36:59and I really like that.
37:00I love that.
37:01Look, we've got a high-level table, but because it's curved,
37:04it feels quite gentle.
37:06The curve draws you into it, doesn't it?
37:08Yeah, yeah.
37:08It's not creating a big block.
37:10I think it's really nice that Emily's added a little bit of
37:14herself with the bespoke art where she's been able to use the
37:18same colours, so it's all very coherent.
37:21I think she actually got the balance right, where it's just enough,
37:26but not too much.
37:27It's incredibly confident.
37:29I mean, I'd be quite happy to live in here.
37:32Let's go all the way into the lounge.
37:34I want to see it more.
37:38She's obviously made a decision and thought about where this goes
37:42and what you can see from these seats.
37:44Well, we have more apartments to see.
37:46Let's go and see what our other designers have done.
37:48I'm excited if they're all this good.
38:02I feel amazing.
38:04I have loved this brief.
38:05Everything about it has been something that I've wanted to do,
38:09and, yeah, I'm just waiting to move in now.
38:15Ooh, the vision in peach from Duran.
38:20With her black line around the top.
38:22Oh, yeah, she does like a squiggle.
38:26Ooh, there is a squiggle.
38:28The whole space feels very expansive because it's all been
38:32done in one colour, but it's quite a tricky colour.
38:34I find it quite a...
38:35You know, you're either going to really love it,
38:37or you're going to be like, ooh, it's a bit peachy.
38:39So we've got a very different layout here.
38:41So here the bed is facing directly into the kitchen,
38:46which you suddenly appreciate the joy of having a little bit
38:50of a divider.
38:51It's hard when you've got a space like this where everything,
38:54your kitchen, your dining, your living, is in one room,
38:57and as you come in there, you're really drawn to that bed,
39:01aren't you? Mm-hm.
39:01So you want to keep your bed looking.
39:05I do like this, though.
39:07I like this one.
39:08You're not a fan of an island, are you?
39:11I seem to remember that.
39:14But is this supposed to be our dining table?
39:17Because I spot...
39:18There's a very small table over in this corner,
39:20which to me is more having a coffee and a chat table.
39:24So this is going to be my dining table.
39:26I need at least one more stool.
39:27Mm-hm.
39:28I feel this is the space that she would be very comfortable in.
39:33It has made a huge difference, I think, keeping that open.
39:37Mm.
39:46I am feeling a little bit nervous.
39:48This is for a spot in the quarter-final.
39:50We've got some strong designers in our group,
39:53and, yeah, I just wonder if I've done enough.
39:58Ooh!
40:00Oh, gosh, lots going on in a jeep's room right from the beginning.
40:04Isn't that incredible?
40:06Like, the same spaces we've just been in,
40:08but it feels totally different.
40:10Mm, really does.
40:11I mean, he has gone into the,
40:13I'm going to zone the hallway with these big circles.
40:16But how much difference does it make
40:19just having a screen?
40:20Yeah, and it's not even a lot, is it?
40:22It's just very simple in terms of structure.
40:27Functionally, I like it.
40:28I'm not sure about it as I'm stood here.
40:31It's quite jarring, isn't it?
40:32And it's quite heavy.
40:33We have got lots of different things happening in here.
40:37There's a lot going on.
40:37You start here in the hallway with that kind of dark mustardy colour
40:42and the black.
40:43I'm seeing the same language as I float into the bedroom.
40:46The black continues, but then I've got this very rough wood,
40:50which I love.
40:51But then as you look into the living room,
40:54the dining table, the sideboard and the coffee table
40:57are all a different wood.
40:58They all match, but it's not this one.
41:00We're not only zoning our spaces with colour,
41:03but we're also zoning with materials,
41:06which in a small space can make it start to feel
41:10a little bit overcomplicated.
41:18I just feel like this is the first time
41:21that I've found something that I'm good at.
41:23And I'm really passionate about this
41:26and I want to do this for a living.
41:28So...
41:30Yeah, I want to stay in.
41:32I need to get tougher.
41:36So this is Sophie's room.
41:41Wow.
41:43That's quite a choice of colour for an opening movement.
41:46It's very poo-brown, basically.
41:49I do like the fact that Sophie's done it all in the same colour.
41:52It makes you want to move into the next space.
41:54It's almost like there's a cloud over the ceiling,
41:57which you know how I feel about zoning,
42:00but I'm actually like, that's really quite beautiful
42:02because it feels very gentle and artistic.
42:06I like how she's surrounded the bed
42:08with the sort of double headboard,
42:10but if we just turn the bed,
42:14then this would all have fitted into that space.
42:17It does annoy me slightly that that's all sticking out.
42:21No, I mean, as we walk into the living room space,
42:24it has a really nice feel to it.
42:26There's something all quite lovely about that,
42:27but then this is very...
42:29Angular.
42:30...hard and angular in contrast,
42:32because that...
42:32Imagine that with a lovely wooden top table round.
42:36It would have been the same kind of gentleness there.
42:39And it needs to be more than just colour
42:40linking these different pieces.
42:43There's, yeah, a style, a cohesion to it,
42:45a pulling of the same...
42:47The same feeling about it.
42:49But I'm kind of seeing this across the board.
42:51It's like, wow, okay, as a collective,
42:54my designers are not getting certain things
42:57about cohesion and furniture and eras,
43:00and it's got to be more than just colour.
43:02But the backdrop here, I think, is really very beautiful.
43:14I really want to get to the quarter-final.
43:16It's so close.
43:18So close.
43:19We're in touching distance.
43:21Fingers crossed.
43:22I've hit enough of the brief.
43:26Ooh!
43:28Ooh, gosh, a real build-out on the bedroom here.
43:31Oh, with little curtains as well.
43:33Gosh, that's clever.
43:34I love this headboard. I do like the colours on that.
43:37And then you come into the living area,
43:41and I'm very distracted by the old frou-frou thing
43:43above the dining table.
43:45Frou-frou?
43:46Frou-frou. That's my official word for it.
43:47I mean, Leah does love her dried flowers,
43:49so that's very much a signature piece from her.
43:52I don't mind it.
43:53It's the first time we've seen something from the ceiling.
43:56Apparently very inspired by the 70s
43:59because she felt it's a very trendy style right now
44:01and feels like the demographic would be really into it.
44:05I'm not a massive fan of this wallpaper.
44:07I don't think it needed to be taken that far as a theme.
44:10That's the shame, isn't it? It's like a theme.
44:12I don't want to use the word theme
44:13because it is a home,
44:16and it's a home to appeal to a lot of people.
44:18Because then we've got this very old jukebox as well,
44:20which, although she's repurposed it as a cocktail cabinet,
44:23I'm wondering how does that quite fit.
44:26I do like this as a bar in a room.
44:29You're 80 to 30, you want a drink, it's nice,
44:32it's a fun way of doing it, isn't it?
44:33But when you add the light and the wallpaper and the other lamp,
44:36it's just a little bit too much.
44:38I think we've got a lot to discuss.
44:40It's like five different spaces with such different treatments
44:43that every room we've walked into
44:45I've felt like it's either enlarged or it shrunk around me.
44:49It has such a different effect on the way you feel.
44:51So, come on, I'll make you a cup of tea.
44:52Let's go.
44:54Before Michelle and Lindsay decide their verdict on the rooms,
44:57the designers get their chance to suss out the competition.
45:02We're in the 70s.
45:05Oh.
45:05Oh, my God, this is amazing.
45:07A Duran's facial.
45:08Oh, my, actually, Cubs fat.
45:10That's so good.
45:11Do you think this feels quite themed?
45:14Honestly, yeah.
45:15Yeah.
45:17Cute.
45:17Oh, lovely.
45:18Do you know what?
45:19It feels a lot smaller than mine.
45:22It feels massive in here.
45:24Yeah.
45:26I'm very, very nervous.
45:28Yeah, they're beautiful.
45:32The designers have returned to the Brighton studio
45:35to find out who will win Standout Space.
45:41Ah, here they are.
45:44Come on in.
45:46Welcome back from the cold face.
45:49Although it was less Yorkshire Moors
45:52and more Yorkshire Metropolis, wasn't it swanky?
45:55Very swanky.
45:56Yeah.
45:57Ajit, how was your back after lifting that Chesterfield sofa?
46:00Uh, I mean, mine's all right.
46:02How's yours?
46:03I had to run a bath with Etsy salt.
46:06And I rubbed some deep heat in me coccyx.
46:09Oh, didn't half burn.
46:11And Leah, did you get all that pampas grass up?
46:14I did.
46:15There was a queue after, though.
46:16Really?
46:18Were the residents knocking for a rocking?
46:23Well, listen, I'm glad you enjoyed the Leeds city skyline,
46:27but these two might bring you back down to earth with a bump.
46:31It's Michelle and Lindsay.
46:33Woo!
46:37Hi, guys.
46:38Hi.
46:39And do you...
46:40Hello.
46:42Nice to finally see you all.
46:44You know what?
46:45This is my favourite sort of challenge,
46:47where you have five identical rooms.
46:49I mean, they were all so different
46:51and all so successful in very different ways.
46:53So was there a space that stood out so much
46:56that you'd call it a standout space?
46:59There was one space that we were absolutely agreed,
47:04completely nailed the brief,
47:06was superbly sophisticated,
47:10very of the building,
47:12answered everything that we were looking for.
47:15Emily, congratulations.
47:20You are showing me that you are really understanding space now.
47:26OK.
47:27And I have to say, I think it was a moment of literal genius
47:29that you moved the bed.
47:31Such a little thing.
47:32Huge difference.
47:33But that is showing me that you're really getting it.
47:36So well done.
47:37It flowed.
47:38There was nothing jarring.
47:40It all worked really well
47:41and you could see the thought that had gone into that.
47:44So were there any other studios you'd like to rent?
47:48Well...
47:50As you know, this is now for a place in the quarter-final
47:53and I really did enjoy seeing all your spaces
47:57and I really think you are all getting so close.
48:01But actually, I would like to see all four remaining designers on my sofa
48:05because I want you to think of this now as this is your intense feedback session.
48:10OK?
48:10So, Emily, congratulations.
48:13You're through to the quarter-final
48:15and we'll see the rest of you on the sofa.
48:24Bonkers.
48:25I really wanted to get to the quarter-final.
48:27Honestly, I'm in shock.
48:28I can't believe it.
48:30But at the end of the day, I'm just going to up the ante from now on.
48:33So, catch me if you can.
48:38Michelle announcing that four of us were on the sofa,
48:40it was a bombshell.
48:41The worry level is high.
48:43All of us won't be there.
48:44I hope it's just another learning
48:46and I don't get sent home for it.
48:49I don't know what I've maybe done wrong
48:52or could have done better.
48:53So, yeah, I'm all ears.
49:02Hello.
49:03Hiya.
49:06Ooh, that's a squeeze.
49:09Cosy.
49:10Yeah.
49:11So, there's basically, there's sort of four key lessons.
49:15Each applies to one of you individually,
49:17but I need you all to listen to all of it.
49:20So, the perils of zoning,
49:23the danger of a theme and how to work it properly,
49:27coherence of design signature,
49:30and then placing yourself in the room,
49:33but as the user, not yourself.
49:37When you click those and they all interrelate,
49:40it just actually will become so much easier.
49:43So, if we start, where should I start?
49:45We'll start with you, Leah.
49:46Okay, a theme.
49:47You showed me beautifully how to do this
49:51when you have this idea of the 70s
49:53and you have that wallpaper
49:55and then you translated it into your bed head.
49:58So, you took the colours, you took the shapes,
50:00but you gave me something new.
50:02You gave me the 21st century version of the 70s.
50:05That was exceptional.
50:07What you didn't need to do then
50:09was actually put the wallpaper up
50:10and put the 70s light next to it
50:12because then it's pastiche.
50:14I think through this whole week,
50:16I was trying to be like,
50:18yes, it's 70s inspired with a modern twist,
50:20but I think you pulled me off on the wallpaper.
50:23You sewed that scene.
50:24Well, I said that, yeah.
50:25You said, oh, it's not a theme,
50:26it's not a theme, it's nuance.
50:28I know, I was like, it's not theme-y, it's not theme-y.
50:29I think if you have to say it's not theme-y,
50:32then that's that thing about following your gut, isn't it?
50:35Not it for next time.
50:37No, it's true.
50:38And I was really proud of the bedroom.
50:40Yeah.
50:41But, yeah, I can kind of see
50:42maybe the wallpaper was quite loud
50:45and maybe I should have just picked the colours
50:47and then run with the colours
50:48as opposed to the paper on the walls.
50:51So, Sophie, like, you love your paint
50:54and your paint effects.
50:55You are an expert at it.
50:57But it was about this design signature
51:00that I know you've all heard me talking about.
51:02It's what links the pieces together
51:05and it doesn't mean that they have to be matchy-matchy.
51:07It doesn't mean they have to be from the same era
51:09or the same colour
51:10or even necessarily the same wood.
51:12But they have to be singing from the same hymn sheet.
51:15So, for example, your table, very orthogonal, very square.
51:19If you'd maybe just done the table top in something softer,
51:23that would be a way of keeping it.
51:24And it might not, it won't match,
51:26but does it sit there comfortably?
51:27And that's like creating flow through whole spaces.
51:30First of all, I wanted to,
51:32I did want to keep the majority of the furniture
51:35because they come furnished,
51:36so I wanted to work with that.
51:38But I think Emily put a new top on her table, didn't she?
51:42Sometimes when you're doing it, you rush in.
51:44You've got all this stuff.
51:45You've emptied your van.
51:46You've got to get it in.
51:47You've got everything to do.
51:48You feel like you've got to go, go, go.
51:50But actually, it's just pressing pause,
51:53having time to look up, look at the space.
51:55And I think it's really critical.
51:57You might think it's a waste of time,
51:59but you are allowed to say,
52:00just give me a minute in the space on my own.
52:03I want to look at it,
52:04and I want to understand how it's working.
52:06Actually, I'm going to jump to Jovan,
52:08because I think what you've just said is really pertinent here.
52:11Like, again, like your design mates,
52:13you've got this incredible design sense.
52:16I mean, I really am loving seeing it develop.
52:18But your key learning is to take that moment
52:22and to put yourself in as the user,
52:25and it's maybe to sit in that bed with the magnificent headboard
52:29and go, ooh, I feel like I'm a mitt in the kitchen,
52:32that maybe I should have put something else here.
52:35Do you know what I mean?
52:37Yeah, no, I do.
52:37I think because I rent a really small one-bedroom flat,
52:41so the space itself felt really relatable to me.
52:44I really wanted to show how do you embrace this studio flat
52:48and the openness of it,
52:49which actually a lot of people do also enjoy.
52:51I really didn't want to put anything that blocked the energy
52:54in front of that bedroom,
52:56because for me that would make me feel very suffocated,
52:58and I also have friends that, you know, this is who it's for.
53:01My friendship group is the demographic for this space,
53:04and I looked at the rest of the building,
53:06I looked at the furniture, the colours that were used.
53:09I really tried to be inspired by what was there,
53:13rather than actually putting myself into it.
53:15I hear you, I hear the passion, I hear you fighting for your pace.
53:18I want you to not fight anymore.
53:21I don't know, you can't tell someone to not be themselves,
53:24or not, I love your passion, I love it.
53:26But this is now your third time on the sofa,
53:29and I feel like I'm saying the same thing to you.
53:32Every single one of your other design mates screened the bedroom,
53:36because on average, most people would like their bedroom
53:40to be a little bit private.
53:42My inner workings is like, show them an alternative.
53:45I know, which is brilliant,
53:47but if you answer all the really boring stuff first for me, yeah?
53:51So Duran, be average and boring from now on.
53:54OK?
53:54No!
53:55No!
53:56No!
53:57Do not listen to him.
53:59No!
54:00No!
54:01No!
54:03Ignore him!
54:04There is still room for a madcap chandelier.
54:07But just give me my storage and my seats first, yeah?
54:14So, your lesson was like the perils of zoning.
54:17Yes.
54:18OK, the bigger the space,
54:20the more you might need to define different areas,
54:23which we can do with rugs, we can do with colour,
54:25we can do with texture, we can do with lighting.
54:27You showed me with the beautiful circular devices
54:30that you introduced the hallway,
54:32then you've used wallpaper to kind of denote
54:34a sort of a third space past the kitchen,
54:36and then we've dropped into another colour
54:38as we've gone into the lounge.
54:40All of those brilliant devices to use,
54:44but troublesome in a small space,
54:47because in that small space,
54:48we walk through four different spaces.
54:51I think I probably thought, coming into it,
54:53that studio apartment,
54:55how can I kind of mimic this idea
54:56that you've got a four-bedroom house
54:57and a studio apartment,
54:58which is the stupidest idea, possibly.
55:02And that's why I kind of led
55:03with creating all those different zones.
55:06You just haven't got room
55:08to be trying to do all of those different things
55:10in the one space,
55:11even though each individual thing
55:13thought was exceptional.
55:15Yeah.
55:16So, you know your teammate Emily
55:18has already gone through.
55:19There are only three places left.
55:26So, I think, Ajit, yes, all that wonderful ideas
55:33just conspired to make your space
55:34just feel that much smaller and crampier.
55:37Yeah.
55:37I can totally see that.
55:38I can totally see that.
55:40Ajit, thank you very much.
55:41You've been...
55:42Can I just say, I mean, like,
55:43I came into this competition
55:44not really the most confident designer.
55:46this is a potential career change for me.
55:48I've done something completely different,
55:49but it's definitely
55:51sowed a seed of creativity
55:53that I didn't know I had.
55:55And, you know,
55:56working with these guys as well
55:57has just been absolutely amazing.
55:58I felt like I learnt from you guys too.
56:00Yeah.
56:01I've just had the time of my life.
56:03Oh, well, brilliant.
56:04Ajit, you've been wonderful.
56:05If you ever want a sofa moved again,
56:07call me.
56:07I know who to call.
56:08I know who to call.
56:09We'll start that company then, shall we?
56:13It's very sad to be leaving the competition,
56:15but I do feel incredibly proud
56:17of what I've done
56:18over the last five weeks.
56:20The seed has been sown.
56:21I'll definitely be doing more
56:22in interior design.
56:24Ajit has brought a really wonderful,
56:25calm sensibility to these challenges.
56:27In a way, he was too ambitious this week.
56:30He tried to create four different rooms,
56:32but within a one single studio apartment
56:34and it was just a bit too much.
56:36It was amazing to get such good feedback
56:39from Michelle and Lindsay.
56:40So I'm definitely going to take that on
56:42to next week and make sure
56:44that I've really thought
56:45about each individual thing.
56:48Good final!
56:50Yes!
56:51I'm so happy.
56:53So, so happy.
56:55I mean, I'm gutted to lose a G.
56:56He's awesome
56:57and he's a big presence in our group,
57:00but I'm really proud of myself.
57:05Next time, things get racy.
57:08What's the shape remind you of?
57:10A lady.
57:13Raunchy.
57:13We've gone for a slightly erotic novel
57:15for the leaves.
57:16This is something my mum would read.
57:18And rock and roll.
57:19Well, well, well, well, well.
57:21In the literary town of Hay-on-Wye
57:23for Shops Week.
57:24Oh!
57:26I'm fine!
57:29I'm fine!
57:54T-R-A-B-R
57:59It's time for weight.
