Sometimes, RuPaul’s Drag Race lip syncs don’t quite hit the mark, leaving fans wondering if both queens should have sashayed away. We’re diving into some of the most memorable moments where neither queen truly wowed, yet only one went home — or sometimes, neither! 00:00I've made my decision.
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:09And today we're counting down our picks for the weakest drag race lip syncs that should have seen both queens
00:14going home.
00:25Number 10. Lana Jure vs. Hormona Lisa.
00:28The song choice didn't do the bottom queens any favors here.
00:41Of all the Olivia Rodrigo tracks they could have chosen, Get Him Back was a real head scratcher.
00:47It had us asking the age-old drag race question,
00:49is it a bad lip sync for your life song or did the queens just fail to perform?
00:54Yes, ma'am!
01:02Neither Hormona's super literal interpretation nor Lana's sensual take seem to fit.
01:07The cutaways to RuPaul seemed to suggest she was about to send both of them home.
01:10Lana won, but it really feels like outside of one impressive stunt,
01:15she might have been sent packing herself.
01:25Number 9. Delta Work vs. Phoenix.
01:28Do you want to see her go off?
01:29Because we think you wanted to see her go off.
01:39Delta Work is a fabulous queen, but we wouldn't say Lady Gaga is the best fit for her lip sync
01:45style.
01:45To say she does better than Phoenix is certainly true,
01:48but it doesn't make up for a pretty lackluster showing on both sides.
01:58It's boring, and probably deserve to make Herstory as the first double sashay.
02:02And when the song is bad romance, that's kind of unforgivable.
02:06At the same time, Delta probably shouldn't have been in the bottom in the first place.
02:17Number 8. Willem vs. Jiggly Caliente.
02:29These season 4 queens are beloved for very different reasons.
02:33Unfortunately, this lip sync does not feature either at their best.
02:36According to Willem, the song was changed at the last minute to coincide with guest judge Pam Tillis' appearance.
02:42That may account for the lackluster performance.
02:45Mi Vida Loca is a perfect storm of bad song choice, bad dancing, and bad timing.
03:00By episode 7, it was Jiggly Caliente's time to go.
03:03There was little she could do to change that,
03:05but both queens are lacking energy and commitment.
03:16Luckily, Willem did stay and went on to have one of the show's iconic exits.
03:21Number 7. Lucy LaDuca vs. Selena Estudis.
03:34We used to think Kate Bush deserved more love from whoever's in charge of securing the rights to lip sync
03:39songs.
03:40After watching how Running Up That Hill was treated on season 15, maybe there was a reason.
03:53Lucy LaDuca and Selena Estudis certainly had different approaches to the song.
03:57Lucy went for a traditional and fairly boring approach.
04:01Selena decided to perform a one-act pantomime play about a crab dramatically shedding its claws.
04:06Was it entertaining?
04:07Yes, but at what cost?
04:09In the end, neither one did the song justice.
04:24Number 6. Pearl vs. Miss Fame.
04:27Something tells us this week's bottom two took Really Don't Care a little too seriously.
04:39Live performance didn't seem to be where either Miss Fame or Pearl came alive.
04:43Fame just looks unsure.
04:45Unsure of her lyrics, her body, her place in the competition.
04:49Ultimately, she was the next to go.
04:51However, Pearl's stiff, jittery style is only marginally better than her opponent.
04:56She brings something distinctive, but it doesn't seem to serve the song in any meaningful way.
05:01Even if the stars and moon collide, I never want you back into my life.
05:08Pearl's lip-syncing was already controversial after she sent burgeoning fan-favorite Trixie Mattel home weeks before.
05:14It's only made worse by the fact that Demi Lovato is literally sitting there.
05:19Oh, oh, oh, I really don't care.
05:22Number 5. Dahlia Sin vs. Nikki Dahl.
05:25Hey, baby, even though I hate you, I wanna ride out on you.
05:32The official Drag Race YouTube account hasn't even posted this one.
05:36That should tell you something.
05:38One thing is for sure.
05:39You can't say Dahlia Sin and Nikki Dahl didn't look gorgeous.
05:43While performing Problem by Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea,
05:46they spend most of their time posing and relying on being pretty, but not living the song.
05:52Small money, then I'll be better off without you.
05:54And no time I'll be forgetting all about you.
05:57Saying that you know, but I really, really doubt you.
05:59Understand my life is easy when I ain't around you.
06:01Despite a couple of moments when it looked like things were about to kick off,
06:05the whole thing stays pretty boring.
06:07Why give us something when you can give us nothing?
06:09If RuPaul sent Nikki Dahl home right behind Dahlia, it would have been understandable.
06:26Number 4. James Mansfield vs. Kimora Black.
06:38This lip sync came off the back of one of the most ill-conceived,
06:42potentially dangerous maxi challenges in Drag Race herstory.
06:45So maybe James and Kimora were still shell-shocked.
06:49Love Shack is one of the funnest party songs ever recorded.
06:52There's no reason it should feel this lifeless.
06:54Love Shack is a little place where we can get together.
07:02Given James' ditzy persona, the B-52s should be squarely in her wheelhouse.
07:07She goes home, but Kimora doesn't fare much better.
07:10The person giving the best lip sync here is Fred Schneider himself,
07:13and he's sitting on the judging panel.
07:15Here's hoping Love Shack gets the lip sync for your life it deserves someday.
07:18Love Shack, baby, Love Shack!
07:22Love Shack, baby, Love Shack!
07:24Number 3. Leila McQueen vs. Naysha Lopez.
07:28I stand here waiting for you to find the door.
07:33Leila McQueen would join the annals of herstory
07:36when she and Dax! were eliminated in the show's second-ever Double Sashay.
07:41Unfortunately, her first lip sync of Season 8
07:43could have also earned that distinction.
07:45She and Naysha Lopez turned in a bizarre and disjointed performance
07:49to Lady Gaga's applause.
07:51Give me this little love.
07:53I'll turn the fight on.
07:54Put your hands and make them touch, baby girl.
07:57Naysha is a little too peppy and pageant-like
08:00to really connect with the darker vibes.
08:02Leila certainly goes for sexy and sultry,
08:04but misses the mark when it comes to the energy.
08:07It's not consistent.
08:08A Double Sashay certainly would have started Season 8 with a bang.
08:15Put your hands and make them touch, touch, touch.
08:18Number 2, Serena Cha-Cha vs. Penny Trashan.
08:21There may be a party in the USA,
08:24but what happened on the main stage was anything but festive.
08:27Deliver.
08:27The taxi man turned on the radio
08:29and the Jay-Z song was on.
08:32And the Jay-Z song was on.
08:34First out queen, Penny Trashan faces the back of the stage,
08:37presumably because she doesn't know her words.
08:40Her dance makes her look more like a boozy mom
08:43who stumbled on stage than a seasoned entertainer.
08:52Serena Cha-Cha wins by default, but should she have?
08:56While she has more fun with the song and seems to know her lyrics,
08:59it reads as sloppy and gimmicky.
09:01We're grateful Rue kept her around for the drama,
09:03but in terms of performance, it's a chop.
09:20Before we continue,
09:21check out this single from SoundMojo's album Current,
09:24EDM Transformed.
09:25Check out the full track and album below.
09:42Number 1, Silky Nutmeg Ganache vs. Newt.
09:45Nina West.
09:55After landing in the bottom for the makeup challenge,
09:58these two season 11 queens got one of Rue Paul's most harsh critiques.
10:02After pouring their hearts out on stage for the host,
10:05she could only manage a simple yet devastating word of discouragement.
10:09That's the most painful thing about it.
10:11Nina West and Silky Nutmeg Ganache are really trying to make this
10:14no-scrubs lip-sync work.
10:15I don't want no scrub.
10:17A scrub is a guy that came in the love from me.
10:20Hanging out the passenger side of his pet-string's ride.
10:24But there's something sweaty and desperate and clumsy about the whole thing
10:27that makes it that much more uncomfortable.
10:29It was actually shocking when Rue Paul only sent Nina home.
10:32Hanging out the passenger side of his pet-string's ride.
10:38What lip-sync do you think should have been a double sashay?
10:41Tell us in the comments.
