Uganda quarantines over 100 people as WHO raises alarm over Ebola spread

Ugandan authorities say more than 100 people have been placed under quarantine as health officials work to contain a rare Ebola outbreak linked to the Bundibugyo strain of the virus.

00:08Health officials say those being monitored are being held at an undisclosed location while they are being checked for symptoms.
00:16The government insists the situation remains under control.
00:19All you need to know at this point is that over 100 people have been identified and they are being

00:25and they are being treated by very experienced medical people.
00:30That is what matters. Everything else is a distraction.
00:35Uganda has managed Ebola very effectively before.
00:40Uganda managed the coronavirus pandemic very effectively.
00:44The same way we managed the outbreak of HIV AIDS when it happened.
00:49So we are very experienced in dealing with situations like this.
00:52And the thing with Ebola is it is from contact with other humans that you get it, with humans.
00:58And we are telling people to be careful. We are telling people to take precautions.
01:03It comes as the WHO raises the alarm over the scale and speed of a deadly outbreak of the disease
01:09in eastern Congo.
01:11Officials say at least 131 people have died with more than 500 suspected cases now reported.
