The CDC, in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security, has put in place urgent travel restrictions following the WHO's announcement of a global public health emergency due to an Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak in the DRC and Uganda. As of May 18, there have been 336 suspected cases and 88 fatalities confirmed in the DRC, along with additional cases in Uganda and one American testing positive after engaging in work in the affected area. New entry restrictions now prevent non-US passport holders who have visited the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan in the last 21 days from entering. Bundibugyo Ebola carries a mortality rate between 25 to 50 percent and currently lacks an approved vaccination.
