00:00I had fun last night, and I'm glad the Mets are winning,
00:03and maybe this is like emotional damage from past relationships.
00:07I still don't think this team is any good.
00:09I'm going to be honest with you.
00:11I loved last night.
00:12I mean, a four-hour, 12-inning game, which you never see anymore.
00:16The wild natures of the game, the emotions of the game.
00:19And you're right about the youth playing.
00:21A.J. Ewing having the impact.
00:22Carson Bench continues his streak of driving in runs
00:25and the Mets being undefeated.
00:26And the Mets found a way.
00:28They took punches in the face, and they won a game last night.
00:30And I'm ecstatic about that.
00:31I don't want you to conflate not believing in a team
00:34with also not enjoying success.
00:36I enjoyed success last night, but they were also very lucky last night.
00:38But are they going to get better?
00:40Do you believe that the Mets are on an evolution to get better?
00:44Or are they at their ceiling?
00:46They're not at their ceiling.
00:48You could say that they are, but there's no way that the Mets are at their ceiling.
00:53They are – Boba Shett's not playing the way he should be.
00:56Juan Soto hasn't been the Juan Soto that competes for MVPs.
01:00The young kids have only been up for two weeks or so.
01:02We're still trying to see what Brett Beatty and Mark Vientos are in regular play,
01:06not just, hey, play this game, sit down against this guy, et cetera, et cetera.
01:10They're not at their peak yet.
01:12And they're playing bad at times.
01:14Yeah.
01:15But they're winning.
01:15Yeah, no, no.
01:16You hit on –
01:16If you play bad and win, and you're not even close to where you're supposed to be,
01:20how can you not be optimistic about that?
01:22Well, I'm happy.
01:23There's a difference between happy and optimistic.
01:24I'm thrilled when my team wins.
01:26I think all fans feel the same way, no matter how ugly it is, no matter how lucky you are.
01:30I still think that they are a very flawed baseball team.
01:33What I've enjoyed over the last –
01:35Not to this degree, no.
01:36No.
01:37I mean, they have one guy in their rotation that could actually go deep into a game,
01:39and that's Nolan McClain.
01:41And you bet your ass they need seven innings out of him tonight
01:43because the bullpen is completely spanked.
01:45I mean, that bullpen is tired.
01:47I think that the Mets –
01:49Tim Ways is available.
01:50He will be available, yes.
01:51I think he's one of the two guys who may be available for tonight's game.
01:54I think you're right.
01:54The Mets faced a lot of bad luck earlier this season.
01:57We heard so much about it.
01:58Line drives right at people.
01:59Things not going their way.
02:01They've had a lot of luck go their way over the last few days,
02:04and they've been able to take advantage of it.
02:06Last night, I thought they were going to lose five different ways,
02:09and they were able to make the plays.
02:10I mean, Brett Beatty makes a throw to second base
02:12that if it's a quarter of the inch to the right,
02:14hits the base runner and causes disaster, right?
02:17Mark Vientos makes a play at home.
02:18I've seen Mets first basemen not make that play.
02:21So they're doing things, and they're doing things well.
02:24They're taking advantage of breaks.
02:26But I still look at this team and see a very flawed team.
02:29But what I'm happy about is A, they're winning,
02:31and B, they're giving us a season.
02:33I think the concern the Mets fan had a few weeks ago
02:35is that this season's going to be lost,
02:37and you're not even going to be invested in games in the middle of May.
02:39They have now creeped to five games under .500.
02:42They are certainly making their move.
02:43You're right about Bo Bichette.
02:44He's showing a pulse.
02:45He had three hits yesterday, even though one of those we don't count
02:47because it came off a position player.
02:49He did hit a home run, which felt significant at the time.
02:52So there are things trending in the right direction,
02:54but this is still an incredibly flawed baseball team.
02:57I appreciate that they're going to the youth.
02:58I appreciate that Nick Morabito is the latest young player being called up
03:02and should get an opportunity to play.
03:04But I also, I've learned, I'm an old man now, Tiki.
03:07Yep.
03:07I've learned the difference between hot streaks and legitimately being good.
03:12And?
03:13I don't think they're good.
