00:01We're headed to New York for Fashion Week.
00:03I'm doing an event with Vitear.
00:07What I'm trying to achieve with my brands,
00:10it's establishing recognition with everybody from, you know, young, old.
00:16I'm continuously working to build these brands and gain momentum.
00:20And I finally feel like that momentum is just coming.
00:25We love him. Thank you, guys.
00:28We're looking at companies that are already doing between 5 and 20 million in revenue,
00:33so like a Series A, what we're calling early growth.
00:36My business partner, Jamie, and I are raising a $40 million venture fund.
00:40This fundraising grind is no joke.
00:42We've got about 2 million left that we need to get.
00:44The deadline is in a month, and if we cannot get to our deadline,
00:48I close the fund and we fail.
00:50You can't just be everywhere all the time, burning it hard.
01:03I am so happy.
01:08We're going to be Batty.
01:09In the movie.
01:12You ain't the bei.
01:13You're just a $40 million.
01:13We've got a $40 million.
01:13Could you be any more gorgeous?
01:15Oh, look at you.
01:16Look, how are you?
01:18You look great.
01:21How is Sebastian?
01:23Sebastian's great.
01:24He's actually trying out for the play, the school play.
01:27Oh, I love that. Are you excited?
01:27I'm excited. I hope he gets a good role.
01:29He's excited. But I left him this morning.
01:32I flew in this morning.
01:33I know you did. You had, like, kind of a crazy day.
01:35I've got QVC for the Mrs. H line.
01:37I know, I'm so excited.
01:38It's, like, bedding and pillows.
01:40Right now, it's super exciting
01:42because I have all these different businesses going on.
01:45Fashion Week was a great success
01:46with Dioclepo, with his shoes,
01:48and now I've gone into apparel with One Jeans Group.
01:52I love how this is styled
01:54because it's unexpected to at least show the buyers
01:57that it could be worn.
01:59So that's already under works.
02:00Then I started my other brand for QVC Mrs. H,
02:04and we decided to do a home line.
02:06I love the baskets.
02:08Is there a shape that you liked?
02:09I quite like this guy,
02:11and we're also selling Judith Lieber
02:14and Dioclepo in stores,
02:16and we're really, I think, designing really great shoes,
02:20beautiful product.
02:21I want to always push myself
02:23because even sometimes
02:24when you do successfully build a brand,
02:28then you have to maintain your relevance.
02:31It's, like, full speed ahead at all times.
02:35After this, I'm meeting my licensee for home.
02:38I've got another home licensee.
02:40And we're flying back.
02:41And then we're going to Dallas.
02:44This is your moment, baby.
02:45You're going to shine.
02:46I'm so proud of you.
02:47You look so gorgeous.
02:48You're not trying.
02:49You're doing.
02:50Tommy must be so proud.
02:52He's proud.
02:52You know, when I married my first husband,
02:55I was very young, and I think I thought in my mind
02:58it was, like, what I was supposed to do.
03:00Yeah.
03:01His idea of what a wife should be like is, like,
03:05you know, I need to stay in the kitchen.
03:06Controlling.
03:07And cook pasta.
03:08You know, in my lingerie.
03:11And I don't think that he ever would want
03:15a wife that would work.
03:17And that's one of the reasons why I love Tommy,
03:19because he supports me in that.
03:21He's so great.
03:21In my first marriage, I was the stay-at-home mom,
03:25but I am a passionate person that likes to work hard.
03:29I mean, at college, I had, like, three jobs,
03:32and I've always enjoyed earning my own money.
03:34I think that that is empowering
03:37and one of the best gifts that a woman can give to herself.
03:40Tommy's a lot like JR.
03:41He's, like, the old-fashioned lover,
03:42but wants you to thrive and wants you to shine.
03:45And now I feel like...
03:46Well, that's a very secure man.
03:48So secure.
03:49I mean, I will say that a lot of people
03:51of men aren't...
03:53No, most men are not like Tommy.
03:55They are that way.
03:56You're not lonely?
03:56You're not lonely.
03:57Yeah, I'm lonely.
03:58But I'm not lonely enough to want to date.
04:01I thank God I have you and my friends,
04:03and it's just not...
04:03I'm not ready for that yet.
04:05You know, I feel like that's not even my...
04:07the forefront of my mind.
04:08I mean, you're busy with your career.
04:11The kids.
04:11You have kids.
04:12You have grandkids.
04:13Your cup runneth over.
04:14Exactly.
04:15I'm full.
04:15I get it.
04:17I get it.
04:18Ooh.
04:19What's going on?
04:20Well, there was a giant bug in that hair.
04:22Oh.
04:23Ooh.
04:24What?
04:24Ooh.
04:25Oh, my God.
04:26Ooh.
04:28You see it?
04:30Yes.
04:30It's like this giant thing.
04:33Oh, my God.
04:34What do I do with it?
04:35It's scary looking.
04:36It is scary looking.
04:38Is that like one of those...
04:39Ooh, yeah.
04:41Here.
04:43Ooh.
04:44It will eventually die from espresso.
04:46There we go.
04:47Expresso is not.
04:48We'll give it some cappuccino.
04:49Oh, my God.
04:50Oh.
04:50I think he dropped his cup.
04:52No, it's...
04:53It's hiding a bug.
04:54Oh, it's hiding a bug.
04:55Girl, let's go now.
05:00Let's go, let's go now.
05:06Let's go, let's go now.
05:07Let's go, let's go now.
05:08Let's go, let's go now.
05:08We've got the time, we do it all.
05:10We do it like this, like this.
05:12Hello.
05:14How are you?
05:18You're full of emeralds already.
05:19I love it.
05:20Emeralds on you look so good.
05:22Yes, it looks amazing.
05:23And this emerald is Colombian emerald,
05:26so you see how, like, beautiful it is?
05:28You guys know that earring,
05:30the one pendant with the diamonds?
05:32Yeah.
05:33I designed it for her.
05:34For my wedding.
05:35Oh, the turn on the earrings.
05:37So beautiful. We love those.
05:39This is the piece that I designed for her wedding.
05:42I don't shop any other place anymore.
05:44If I want something new, I wait until I come to Miami,
05:48and I always shop here.
05:48She lives in London, and I'm like...
05:51I'm the biggest fan.
05:52Oh, you're the best.
05:53It's very exciting that people are talking so much
05:56about my jewelry brand.
05:58The amount of compliments and the visibility
06:00that I got for the necklace,
06:02when you're wearing it,
06:03it just made me inspired to keep going.
06:06It's very important for me to just keep up
06:08that desire that people have for the jewelry brand now.
06:11I have to go.
06:12I'm grateful for you.
06:14To keep the momentum going is hard.
06:17I'm putting a lot of hours into creating new designs constantly.
06:23It's a problem.
06:28It was a 83-something carat stone,
06:31and we're trying to see the best we can do with it.
06:33I'm already so busy.
06:35At the same time, like, I have my family.
06:36I have my kids.
06:38I have my husband.
06:39I also have Ranger, my clothing brand.
06:42That needs a lot of my attention,
06:44because we have a whole collection.
06:46We're about to launch really soon.
06:48From diamonds to clothes.
06:49Let's go.
06:50Oi.
06:51Oi.
06:52So we need to find fabrics.
06:56You know our vibes.
06:57Yeah.
06:57So I was doing a brief selection.
06:59Our favorite one.
07:00Our favorite one.
07:01Yeah.
07:01We should do it in a different color.
07:03And it's all from the echo line.
07:05Okay, everything's sustainable.
07:07Yeah.
07:07Okay.
07:08So Ranger is a sustainable clothing brand,
07:11and it's a ready-to-wear brand.
07:13During COVID, I started making my girls' clothes,
07:17and that started making me realize that I should open a company.
07:22That brand is very special to my heart.
07:25It's my baby.
07:25So I'm obsessed.
07:27The browns are good, but we have to be very careful,
07:30because a lot of people against brown.
07:32And for example, like for my skin color,
07:34it has to be like very chocolate brown, like dark.
07:39Right now, we are creating pre-fall.
07:41From inspiration, we develop sketches,
07:45and then the factory sends sample.
07:47Then from that, we have a photo shoot
07:50to create a line sheet for wholesalers,
07:53so they can pre-buy the collection.
07:56Hey, girls.
07:57Hello.
07:58Good morning.
07:58Hi.
07:59So all the samples came.
08:02Let's pull, like, one item each,
08:04just so I can, like, see it
08:06and make sure that the production is, like, perfect.
08:08Mm-hmm.
08:09It looks good.
08:09Do you want to double-check it?
08:10Yep.
08:11I do.
08:16Why do I always find something?
08:19Can I have this?
08:20Because your eyes really train.
08:23I just found, like, little strings,
08:25but they drive me crazy.
08:27So you guys know it's very important to me
08:29to have every piece being perfect.
08:32Mm-hmm.
08:32What I want to create
08:33is very different to fast fashion.
08:35Fast fashion is fine, right?
08:36Yeah, absolutely.
08:36Like, people are spending nothing,
08:39and then, like, they don't care.
08:41But the people that invest in those pieces...
08:43Yeah.
08:43...they want good quality.
08:44Of course.
08:45So we can't let one pass
08:47that it's not 100% perfect.
08:49Yeah.
08:49You're absolutely right.
08:50Because it's my name.
08:52It's my brand.
08:53I'm like...
08:55I don't want to put anything out
08:57that does not represent who I am.
09:00I'm very hard on the details.
09:03I'm still building trust on my clients.
09:05So it's very important to keep the consistency.
09:08But at the same time,
09:09the photo shoot has to be done on time
09:11to go smooth for everybody.
09:13For me, for the production,
09:15for the wholesaler, for delivery,
09:17and for the client.
09:18If I fail, it's all on me.
09:20It's all on my shoulders.
09:21This is six centimeters.
09:23No, that's wrong.
09:24I'm not okay.
09:25Red dot.
09:37Such a great store.
09:39It's beautiful.
09:40This is the largest store in North America.
09:43Wow.
09:43And, of course, your shoe collection, D,
09:45is spectacular this season.
09:47All the great colors and the floral
09:49and the bows.
09:50This is for Dallas ladies.
09:52Color.
09:52They like a little heel and a little color.
09:54And I thought you need a yellow rose.
09:56Of course, for Texas.
09:58All my shoes are comfortable.
10:00As a person that has suffered,
10:02you can wear these all day long
10:03and your feet aren't going to cramp at night.
10:05Right. Yeah.
10:05And at the end of the day,
10:06you know, we hear from customers all the time.
10:07They do want a shoe that's comfortable.
10:09Yeah.
10:09In Dallas, I think our ladies really appreciate
10:12the opportunity to come in and meet the creative force
10:14behind a brand.
10:15Going into fall, there's so much happening.
10:18Everything is sort of blooming at the same time.
10:20So I decided that it would be a great idea
10:23if I could do a trunk show at Stanley Korshak
10:25to promote Dioclepo shoes.
10:27Did you take a look at around the store?
10:29Everything is beautiful.
10:30It is one of the nicest stores in the world.
10:32I mean, the curation is beyond.
10:34Mm-hmm.
10:35Trunk shows are important
10:36because you get to meet the customer face-to-face.
10:38Also to make that connection with the retailer
10:41and the salespeople on the floor
10:43and sell those shoes.
10:46Well, we're ready to have some fun.
10:47Hi.
10:48This is Dee Hilfiger.
10:49Hi.
10:50Hi, Lindsay.
10:50She's the designer for these brands.
10:52Aren't they fun?
10:53Which one do you want to try?
10:55Let's see.
10:56Any, many, many.
10:57I mean, maybe I'll try these on.
10:59I think that's kind of cute.
10:59You like that.
11:00My main thing with the shoes, though,
11:02is that they're comfortable.
11:03It's an alternative to sneakers.
11:06All my businesses are licensed.
11:08I do oversee the direction
11:10of where the collection is going to go that season,
11:13but I don't actually manufacture my product.
11:19My partner will manufacture,
11:21and they license my brand,
11:23and I help them sell it.
11:25I'm happy to do it this way.
11:26My shoe license is my biggest license.
11:29So if I was, you know,
11:30manufacturing shoes on my own,
11:33it would be a lot,
11:34and it would be quite difficult
11:36to continue to build the Dio brand
11:39and expand into, you know, other categories.
11:43Those are beautiful.
11:44Which ones?
11:44The blue ones?
11:45The blue ones.
11:45Your shoes are beautiful.
11:46They're beautiful.
11:49A little retail therapy.
11:50I've never heard anybody.
11:51No, no, no.
11:54No, no, no.
11:56No, no, no.
11:58No, no, no.
12:01No, no, no.
12:02No, no, no, no.
12:03No, no, no.
12:03No, no, no, no.
12:04No, no, no, no.
12:04No, no, no, no.
12:05No, no, no, no, no.
12:05Hi.
12:06Hi.
12:06How are you?
12:07It's been too long.
12:08I know.
12:09You look gorgeous.
12:10You look gorgeous.
12:11Come sit in the kitchen.
12:12Let's have you want some coffee?
12:14You want something?
12:14You know, I would love a coffee.
12:16Everyone said you have been so busy.
12:18My kids are almost 4 and 16 months, so.
12:21You've got your hands full.
12:22Yes.
12:23I want to see pictures of the kids.
12:24Oh, my gosh.
12:25They are such hooligans.
12:27Oh, my God.
12:27Is he a good big brother?
12:29Like, the sweetest boy in the world.
12:31He's absolutely obsessed with his little sister.
12:33Look at that.
12:36I can't.
12:36I'm fortunate enough to have worked with so many incredible women
12:39who go out of their way to create community.
12:43Lauren's amazing.
12:44We're very much, like, new friends.
12:46We met, actually, through her daughter.
12:49And we were like, yeah, let's get to know each other better
12:51and talk about consumer product goods and all those things
12:54and just marketing and companies.
12:56And, obviously, she's an investor as well,
12:58so I thought it would be awesome to give her the update
13:00about everything I'm doing at Contour Capital.
13:02And she is a visionary, but also someone who listens.
13:06What's going on with your VC fund?
13:07I heard you're doing a whole fund.
13:08Tell me how yours is going.
13:10Okay, so it's going well.
13:11I'm raising $40 million.
13:12Okay, good.
13:13Yeah.
13:13What are you focused on right now?
13:14Focus on wellness and women's health.
13:16Oh, I love that.
13:17And also, we're doing technology, consumer health tech,
13:20and services.
13:21And we spent a lot of time figuring out where, like,
13:25what our entire strategy was going to be.
13:28Like, you know, building everything from the ground up.
13:30Obviously, building a firm from scratch is, like, pretty difficult.
13:33And we have our lawyers.
13:35We have our backup house.
13:36We have our accountants.
13:37We have our CFO.
13:39And...
13:39We've really been building this out.
13:41Building.
13:41Building.
13:42You know, raising this fund is really difficult.
13:44We have about one month to get to our first close.
13:49And I'm not used to raising capital.
13:52I've been on many cap tables.
13:53But this is different.
13:55I'm very open to critical feedback.
13:57Because if we cannot get to our deadline, then we're not going to be able to fund this deal.
14:01We already have 10% of the fund committed.
14:04And I'd like to get to 15% for our first close.
14:07It's only been a year.
14:08Yeah.
14:09You know, I have always looked like you have health and wellness area.
14:13Personal care.
14:14Mm-hmm.
14:14Products, good margins.
14:16Okay.
14:16A lot of a big investment in Fabletics.
14:19Fenty.
14:19Mm-hmm.
14:20But I've done, like, Ruggable.
14:22I've done a lot of them.
14:23Oh.
14:23And I've done really well.
14:24Like, we do...
14:25Right now, we've been doing this for almost 11 years.
14:29Oh, wow.
14:30And it'll be good, because you and I can always bounce things off of each other.
14:33Yeah.
14:33I started a venture fund.
14:35I'm really attached to startup companies, particularly ones that involve women.
14:40So, any advice I can support Hannah with.
14:42She's doing something for the first time.
14:44It's a little bit out of her comfort zone.
14:46That's a big deal.
14:46It's hard to ask for money in today's times.
14:49Right now, raising capital is a tough world.
14:51The economy's tough.
14:52Some of my friends who have very successful VC funds right now aren't raising.
14:56Yeah.
14:56So, you really want to pick and choose what you want to do carefully.
15:00Yes.
15:00I love what you're focused on.
15:01The first, like, the whole sector of health and beauty and wellness is where people are
15:06spending their money, even in an economy crisis.
15:09100%.
15:10And that's my expertise.
15:11People don't mind spending money on that.
15:13Yeah.
15:13I advocate in the areas that I invest in, right?
15:16Of course.
15:16And even when I was going through my, like, IVF journey, I ended up, like, opening up a whole
15:21new world of maternal healthcare and really spending a lot of time in that industry and
15:25getting to know that industry.
15:27I want to see everything that you're focused on and working on.
15:29I'll shoot you an email that you can then, like...
15:31Shoot me an email.
15:32Do you know Jack McHugh?
15:33No.
15:33He's my partner.
15:34He's great.
15:35You should meet him.
15:36I'm really interested in seeing more.
15:38I'd love to go, you know, get a whole, like, we'll take some time and we'll set a meeting
15:41so we can at least walk through it.
15:42And definitely bring Jack into the convo because he's good.
15:45You're pulling it off, baby.
15:46I'm proud of you.
15:47You're doing a lot of stuff at once.
15:49I was like, what?
15:50Like, I didn't expect to get a meeting about her as, like, an investor.
15:54I couldn't believe it.
15:56I'm excited about what you're doing, what you're focused on.
16:00Hopefully I'm building, like, the legacy for the next 50 years.
16:03This is generational wealth, babe.
16:04You're doing it.
16:06Lauren's really smart.
16:07I value her as a person in our relationship.
16:10And if she wanted to write a check, it's a big deal.
16:13It's, like, we could meet our goal.
16:16Hi, how's it going?
16:17I just had such a great meeting with Lauren.
16:20And she, like, loves what we're building, wants to, like, know more.
16:24So I'm going to send her an email this afternoon.
16:25Lauren's definitely going to write me a check.
16:27Like, she's so great.
16:28She's so connected.
16:30Like, it was really, really good.
16:33It's all about you.
16:35And I.
16:39You and I.
16:44Yeah.
16:45I love you.
16:47I love you.
16:48I love you.
16:49I love you.
16:51I love you.
16:52Look at the sunrise.
16:57It's pretty, right?
16:58Yeah.
16:58Want to have breakfast?
17:00Want to go and have breakfast?
17:02Oh, we have to do your guys' hair.
17:05Do you want to put one of your new hair clips?
17:07Yeah, I was thinking of a pencil.
17:09These are very cute.
17:11What are you doing today?
17:12I'm doing a photo shoot, but I'm not the model today.
17:16I'm just the creative director and everything else.
17:21But you're a model.
17:23Mm-hmm.
17:25You're cute.
17:26But you know what?
17:27I decided that for today, there is a prettier girl
17:31that will look better on the clothes.
17:33No, there's not.
17:35There's not anything prettier than you.
17:38Only?
17:39Thank you, baby.
17:40I love you.
17:42It's a very important day.
17:44We have the photo shoot today for a line sheet for Rangel
17:48for me to present it to wholesalers in Brazil
17:51and some in Portugal.
17:52We have to go, but I'm still learning how to find the balance
17:56between being a mother and a fashion designer
17:59and jewelry designer.
18:00Let's go, girls.
18:02Backpacks.
18:03I need this for the photo shoot.
18:06So in the morning, I'm with my kids.
18:09Then they go to school.
18:10So after they go to school, that's when I start working.
18:13After, like, five o'clock, pick them up.
18:16That's when I can be a mom again.
18:19Then I can be a wife.
18:20But people love to ask me, like, how do I balance it all?
18:24And my answer is always, like, I don't.
18:29Actually, no.
18:30I'm still searching for, like, how do you balance it all?
18:33Like, I do it all.
18:35I do it all.
18:36But there is a balance.
18:38I don't know.
18:38I'm exhausted all the time.
18:40But at the same time, I'm doing everything that I love.
18:42I'm being a mother.
18:43I'm doing my business.
18:45I'm being a wife.
18:47And that's all I ever wanted.
18:49So it's OK.
18:50When I was going to school, girls, I used to take the bus.
18:54Why?
18:56Because my dad used to work really early in the morning.
18:59And my mom, too.
19:01They would start work super early.
19:03And they couldn't take us.
19:05For reals?
19:05For reals, yeah.
19:07I love when you say, for reals.
19:09For reals.
19:10Who dodged you that?
19:11For reals?
19:12Growing up, my parents got divorced.
19:15I was five years old.
19:16And I stayed with my mom.
19:17She had to go back to, you know, working and hustling.
19:22She was always working.
19:23But she was the best mom.
19:24Like, she still is.
19:26Like, she took care of us at the same time after school.
19:29Like, even she would leave food for us on the fridge.
19:31Even if she was working, we'd get home and warm it up for ourselves.
19:35I'm very, like, inspired about the way she raised us.
19:38It's very important for me to keep the legacy of the woman in my family.
19:43And that's why also Rangel is called Rangel,
19:46because that's my mom's surname.
19:49I actually like driving, you guys.
19:50I don't mind.
19:52I think motherhood makes me want to work more, actually.
19:57Because my kids are watching me.
19:59I want them to know that they can also achieve their dreams
20:02and they can work for what they believe in
20:04and what they want for their lives.
20:06You always say that you become who your mother is.
20:09And it's true.
20:10I do.
20:11Got it.
20:12I love you.
20:13Have so much fun, okay?
20:15Okay.
20:16It's my parade.
20:19No other place.
20:23Let's go.
20:24A great escape.
20:27I found my way.
20:29It's my parade.
20:32Hi.
20:32Hi.
20:33Hi.
20:33We've got a couple things on the schedule
20:34that I wanted to talk to you about.
20:36I have to fly to Philadelphia on the 5th.
20:39That's my QVC launch.
20:40Okay, so, well, I'm in Mexico on the 4th.
20:43Tomorrow morning when Sebastian comes home,
20:45we have to tell him that we're gonna,
20:47he's gonna miss a little bit of school in the morning.
20:49Take him to the passport office.
20:50Yes.
20:50So I have tomorrow passport, tomorrow night dinner.
20:52He's not gonna like that.
20:53He never wants to miss school.
20:54I know.
20:54He loves it.
20:55He loves school.
20:56He didn't get that from me because I was faking sick a lot,
20:59especially on testing.
20:59He didn't get it from me.
21:01Was it the milk man?
21:03I'm just not sure where that came from.
21:05Tommy and I have weekly meetings.
21:08I mean, we do business together on everything.
21:12I mean, that's our, that's our pillow talk.
21:16That's our lunchtime talk.
21:19That's our dinnertime talk.
21:20We both love to work and we have a lot of businesses
21:24and we advise each other on things.
21:27Like I'm always asking his opinion on things.
21:29He's always asking my opinion on things.
21:31So that's just how we, that's just how we roll.
21:36So, switching gears,
21:38Titan and the whole shoe thing.
21:41Are you talking to, to them or do you?
21:43With the shoe license?
21:45Yeah.
21:46No, but I have a conversation with the company.
21:48Okay.
21:48To be continued.
21:49Okay.
21:51Right now I'm waiting to hear about a deal
21:53to continue with the shoe license
21:55and my partner isn't getting back to me.
21:59So frustrating.
22:01I think you need a new shoe license.
22:03You're established in footwear,
22:04but if they can't handle it,
22:07I think you have to go somewhere else.
22:10Mm-hmm.
22:10And you don't want to manufacture it all yourself
22:13because then you have to hold inventory.
22:14We wouldn't even have the time to do that.
22:16Like I wouldn't have the time to do that.
22:17But you have a customer base.
22:19You have a following.
22:21People love the footwear.
22:22Sales are doing better than expected,
22:24but my partner had taken on some other brands
22:27and I had not known that he was doing that,
22:30which, you know, doesn't help
22:31when you're trying to launch a brand.
22:33I get really, like, the anxiety starts to say.
22:38Nervous. Anxious.
22:38I get anxious.
22:39You better get used to it.
22:41Honey.
22:42With all you've got going on.
22:42You don't think I'm used to it?
22:44I know, I mean...
22:45I've been with you for how many years?
22:46Going on 20?
22:47I've been on that hamster wheel with you for a long time.
22:50It's never easy.
22:51I know.
22:52I know.
22:52But I think your quality looks great.
22:54I think the prices are great.
22:56I think it looks really strong.
22:57It'll get there.
23:00Fine.
23:01Thank you, babes.
23:02You're always so positive.
23:27Hello.
23:29You look cute.
23:30I'm good.
23:30How are you?
23:31Good.
23:31How are you?
23:32Can you help me out here?
23:33Right.
23:33Let me know what I can grab.
23:35Okay.
23:36The shoes.
23:37Amazing.
23:37And then I got coffees.
23:39Hey, guys.
23:40Good morning.
23:41I'm very excited about this collection.
23:44This photo shoot is very important to photograph the pieces the exact way that they are.
23:50It's already so pretty, so the makeup's super clean, okay?
23:54And I even like her freckles and the whole skin.
23:57Yes.
23:57We're gonna keep the freckles.
23:58I'm just gonna add a little bit of, um, glow.
24:01You're welcome.
24:02I have to make sure that the line sheet is beautiful, that they will sell really well,
24:08and then, and it has to be on time.
24:11Okay, guys.
24:12It's a lot to do, people.
24:13Okay.
24:13So you see how, like, it's really clean and, like, soft fashion, like, you know, just...
24:19Mm-hmm.
24:20And this is natural light, right?
24:22I'm happy with the overall of the collection.
24:25There was a lot of samples that came through.
24:29But I wanted to make sure that the look and the feel and the silhouette was exactly what I wanted.
24:35So I asked the factory to remake two samples, so it's perfect for the line sheet.
24:41And those will be the final samples that are delayed right now.
24:45You can do a little bit of, like, a movement, but, like, keep it clean.
24:49What number?
24:5030.
24:52Fernanda.
24:53Where are my samples?
24:55Look, we got four more.
24:56No, I need my samples.
24:58Seriously.
24:59We're gonna get it.
25:00It's in Miami.
25:01By 9, we're gonna find out where.
25:03I really hope those samples are gonna make you here, because if not, I don't know what I'm gonna do.
25:09We're hunting them down.
25:11Everything costs, right?
25:12The model costs.
25:13The photographer flew from New York.
25:15The model flew from New York.
25:17I had until 3 o'clock to execute all the looks.
25:21For me to have to redo the photo shoot for two pieces will be a big waste of money.
25:27I urgently need to pick up a package.
25:30Yeah.
25:31Can you please provide me the names?
25:32Isabella Grutman.
25:35It's already out for delivery.
25:37Does that mean it's gonna be delivered today by 10.30?
25:39Yep.
25:40I don't know if I believe him.
25:42Even though I'm worried about those two pieces, I still have a whole collection that I designed
25:46that I have to get shot.
25:48It's too much to stress.
25:50Issa, here is perfect.
25:51Yeah.
25:51Yeah.
25:55We need to make sure all the clothes are, like, perfect, so it's, we'll sell a lot of it.
26:00I need to make sure the pieces are put properly, they're fitting good.
26:06I need to be concerned about the whole collection itself.
26:10I'm literally surveying the window in case I see them.
26:13You look gray.
26:15Where is this guy?
26:16The driver doesn't have the GPS right now on.
26:22I've never been so stressed in my life.
26:24Straight, straight.
26:25Okay, let's keep moving, people.
26:27For me, the whole situation was a nightmare.
26:31All I need is two pieces.
26:32What does it say on the website?
26:34That is out for delivery.
26:35Says by five.
26:36Hi.
26:37Calling again.
26:37Is there any way to get in touch with the driver?
26:39If the package doesn't get here, the two pieces that are missing, they're not going to make the cut for
26:46the wholesalers.
26:47And then sometimes they can just scratch off the brand completely.
26:52We have 20 minutes to get here.
26:54Because the model is from New York.
26:57She has to fly back.
26:59And it's going to get delayed, and it's not going to be on the line sheet, and then we can
27:03sell it.
27:10She looks amazing.
27:13Oh my God, there's a delivery driver.
27:16There's a truck.
27:17Do I go follow it?
27:19Yes, go follow it.
27:23If he gets, she gets that one.
27:27The thing about me is I'm very calm, but when I tell the girls execute, they know I'm serious.
27:33I said to them, the package is in Miami.
27:37Find it.
27:38Execute it.
27:39Go for it.
27:40That's what I would do if I could, you know?
27:42So, like, people need to know, like, you have to be proactive.
27:45You have to go for things.
27:49Whoa!
27:50Whoa!
27:51She's going to hit it.
27:52She almost crashed.
28:02We're like little kids receiving, like, a Christmas gift or something.
28:09Oh my God.
28:11Sorry, savior.
28:13Good job.
28:13Execute.
28:14You said execute.
28:15I like it.
28:16Sometimes I have to put a little pressure on you guys.
28:18A little.
28:20I'm very proud of my team on this photo shoot because that's what I want.
28:24I want people to go for it.
28:26The fit is good.
28:27They know how important it is for me and for the brand to get it done properly.
28:33Yeah, I think we got it, no?
28:35Yes.
28:35Thank you, everybody.
28:37Woo!
28:40Woo!
28:40Woo!
28:42The photo shoot was a success.
28:44I'm very happy how it all came out.
28:47The model looked amazing.
28:49The clothes look amazing.
28:50And I'm very excited to hear what the wholesalers have to say about it.
28:53Hallelujah.
28:55We did it.
28:56Keep moving.
28:56There we go.
29:07Is this honey I can eat?
29:10Yes.
29:10Let's actually look because I don't know if this is Manuka.
29:13If it's Manuka, it shouldn't go into a hot beverage.
29:16It'll lose its properties.
29:17You're crazy.
29:18I'm looking for a sweetener.
29:20Okay, just use this one.
29:21What would happen if I...
29:22It's that one.
29:22Use that one.
29:23That is the right honey for your coffee.
29:24Oh, the private harvest?
29:25Yes.
29:26Is this just a private harvest?
29:28Exclusive private harvest?
29:29I can use this spoon now.
29:30Use your caviar spoon for your private label honey.
29:35Can you make me a coffee, please?
29:36I can make you a coffee.
29:37What kind of coffee would you like?
29:39Latte?
29:39Flat white?
29:40Iced?
29:41I actually just want an espresso and I'll add my little creamer to it.
29:44Wow.
29:44Taking a page out of my book.
29:47Anyway, I'm going into a pitch with Lauren.
29:49I'm excited to tell her about the fun and see if it can materialize into something.
29:53So, it'll be a couple more.
29:56We don't have five a lot anymore.
29:57We bring it back.
29:58I mean, Preston and Claude are starting to like high five.
30:00I know.
30:02But speaking of, I'll be going to Miami.
30:04So, that's like two nights that I won't be...
30:07With the kids.
30:08Yeah.
30:08And creating content and all the things.
30:11So, while building this firm, like I'm not able to like spend as much time creating content.
30:17And the fact that my income has been lower than it was in previous years has definitely put a strain
30:23on our marriage and our like scenario.
30:25Like we have expenses and like we, I can't really afford to keep my eye off the ball.
30:31Despite what other people might think how we live or whatever or where our money comes from.
30:36Like I have lived off what I earn since the day I left college.
30:41I'm trying to refine the strategy.
30:43Spend time with the people who I actually think are going to be able to convert.
30:48Because, you know, otherwise it's just a whole lot of calls with very little ROI.
30:54Your whole day is gone.
30:55Yeah.
30:56Like five Zooms and your day is gone.
30:57And that's not what I need to be doing right now.
30:59But there's always like these thoughts and feelings around mixing friendships with investments and whatever.
31:07You know, you need thick skin for this job. Thicker than I anticipated.
31:11Totally.
31:12I don't want to be that person who's like trying to monetize every connection.
31:15But at the same time, like I have to continue hitting my goals and pushing this forward.
31:22If it goes south, someone's going to get butthurt over it.
31:26No, of course.
31:27And like it's just like.
31:28Listen, I'm not in the business of losing people's money.
31:30I'm trying to make returns.
31:32A hundred percent.
31:32I'm just saying people are weird about their cash and you only know it when you see the other side.
31:37Right.
31:37So like.
31:37I know.
31:38You know what you're doing.
31:39I know.
31:40I mean, there's so much pressure.
31:43It's crazy.
31:46And I feel like the pitch even went really well with Blaze in person.
31:49Obviously not awesome that he ghosted like more fuel to my fire.
31:54And that's kind of like what I'm channeling going into this meeting with Lauren.
31:57If we're out here trying to change our lives in a positive way for us and our family, you've just
32:02got to foot on the gas.
32:04Yeah.
32:04Lauren, you know, go well.
32:05She's going to say yes.
32:08Or, you know, we'll hunt her down.
32:11Okay.
32:12Still.
32:13Okay.
32:13I could never do it.
32:23Honey, I have no idea how to turn this on.
32:26Okay, we'll get this.
32:28You're good at other things.
32:29It's okay.
32:30I know how to set the table.
32:32You do such a good job.
32:33Really good at that.
32:34Where are you, Tommy?
32:36Right here.
32:37Okay.
32:38I do know how to use the microwave.
32:40Oh, God.
32:44Okay.
32:46So, are you going to talk to your shoe company?
32:49Because I think you have to find another license.
32:51I actually called Susan, but it wasn't great news.
32:54Susan represents Dio Clepo for licensing opportunities.
32:59And she's been helping me with a shoe license.
33:03I talked to Joe about footwear recently.
33:06So, he's getting rid of his licenses, focusing on Badgley Mishka and Pleasure.
33:12I think he loves your brand.
33:14I just think he's just overwhelmed.
33:16Hmm.
33:17Kind of surprised.
33:19Because it's not like a, wow, we're not doing well with D.
33:22I know, it's just really disappointing.
33:25My partner, he was kind of spread a lot thinner than what I thought he was.
33:31I think that sort of led to my demise, so to speak, in the shoe business.
33:38Well, what are you going to do with the inventory?
33:40We're canceling all the orders for spring.
33:44Well, he's going to finish out the inventory?
33:45Yeah, that's like incredibly disappointing.
33:50I mean, I think that we had great designs and I thought we were getting like really good momentum.
33:55I've worked so hard.
33:57So, I think it's better you get somebody else who can really focus on it.
34:00I've been grinding.
34:03I've been grinding.
34:04I've been watching.
34:05Since 2011.
34:07I've been watching.
34:08Sometimes it's like, you know, you, you, it's hard not to, I, I, it's just so frustrating.
34:17You know, I, I just, every time, it's like I take one step forward and two steps back.
34:23That's how I feel.
34:24Rome was not built in a day.
34:25I get that, but I'm not even close to building Rome.
34:27I'm not even building a village.
34:31I'm disappointed.
34:32That's all.
34:33I don't know what to say.
34:33I understand.
34:34I can be really tough on myself.
34:38It started around the time I was divorced.
34:40I just really felt like a failure.
34:42You know, I felt very guilty that I failed my children.
34:45And that was probably one of the toughest times in my life.
34:50It was, it was extremely tough.
34:53Sorry.
34:54Very tough.
34:55And I don't wish that on anybody.
35:01Sorry.
35:05Trying not to get discouraged.
35:07You've got so much great stuff going on.
35:09I'm very proud.
35:10Before my business took off, I probably had six or eight starts and stops.
35:15Maybe more.
35:16One of those products is going to like take off and could change your whole business perspective.
35:24There really is momentum.
35:26I hope you're right.
35:30I hope you're right.
35:31I hope you're right.
35:31One, two, three, let's go now.
35:34I'm always only ever making money.
35:36It keeps on coming in high.
35:39You know it's raining even when it's sunny.
35:41Hey.
35:41How you doing?
35:42How you feeling?
35:43I'm okay.
35:44Surviving.
35:45A little better.
35:46All the time.
35:47Day by day.
35:47How you feeling?
35:48You look great.
35:49Looks are deceiving.
35:50I know.
35:51Thank you for coming and I wanted to meet with Hannah because I really like her.
35:55She's a wonderful person.
35:56So I just want to kind of go through her deck with her, see what she's up to.
35:59I'll pull it up for us so we can talk through it.
36:01She's just in the process of raising it right now.
36:03She's raising it, yeah.
36:04Yeah, I think she's here.
36:06Let me check and see.
36:10Hi.
36:11Hi.
36:11Oh, you look gorgeous.
36:13Oh my God, thank you.
36:14I literally just got off the plane.
36:15Just now?
36:16Like an hour ago.
36:18You look great.
36:19You look great.
36:19This is gorgeous.
36:20Oh, thanks, honey.
36:21This is my...
36:22Jaren and I bought this in December of 21.
36:26Oh, wow.
36:26Hello.
36:27How are you doing, Jack?
36:28How are you, Hannah?
36:29Nice to meet you.
36:30How's it going?
36:31It's going.
36:32Jack has been my partner how long?
36:3410 years?
36:3515 years?
36:35Yeah.
36:36And we've done very well.
36:37And then, you know, he comes outside and brings other deals.
36:40A lot of great ones.
36:41She lets me squeak in.
36:42Well, I like him to be in it.
36:44I want everybody in to be in it.
36:45Of course.
36:45You know.
36:46I started out as an angel investor, getting in super early.
36:48How's the fun going?
36:49I know you're doing...
36:50It's going good.
36:51There's...
36:51It's a lot.
36:52But it's great.
36:53I know it is.
36:54Because I got the deck.
36:55Jack got the deck, too.
36:56Great.
36:59Um...
36:59We're raising.
37:01We're actively raising.
37:02We're having our first close imminently.
37:04And, uh, we've raised about $4 million of the 40.
37:09We have a couple of institutions that we're talking to.
37:11High net worth individuals.
37:12Right.
37:12And we have a lot of strategic LPs in there.
37:15You want to do, like, Series A stuff?
37:16Series A.
37:17Yeah.
37:17Companies that are doing between $5 and $20 million in revenue.
37:20It's really where we can be most value-add.
37:22In wellness.
37:24Within women's health, longevity, like, healthier consumption, I've become an advocate within
37:30the women's health space, particularly around fertility and infertility, but going through
37:34my own, you know, journey and, you know, having my community online.
37:38Do you have companies that you're in the pipeline that you're thinking about?
37:40Yeah.
37:41We have our first deal that we just gave our term sheet two weeks ago to a sports tech
37:44company.
37:45We're going to be putting a million into that.
37:47Right.
37:47With other funds, we would typically do, like, you know, side pocket deals so we can get
37:51up to $4 or $5 million so that someone in our group has a board observer or a board
37:55seat.
37:55And what's the revenue like?
37:56They're doing $6 million right now.
37:57They're doing $6 million?
37:58Yeah.
37:58And they'll do $12 million next year.
37:59And what does it take to break even?
38:01Um, for that company, you know what?
38:04I just sent out the memo today.
38:07Right.
38:08Of course I'm nervous.
38:09You know, I'm not used to necessarily, like, talking about financial models, like, in a
38:14meeting.
38:14It definitely feels, like, more serious.
38:17I like the concept of it.
38:19I wonder how the margins are on that.
38:20Yeah.
38:21So, it's the year-long big, big commitment that they get from the enterprise part of their
38:29business that's bringing the revenue up.
38:30The clock is ticking.
38:32The goal is to have someone anchor the fund and write you a million-dollar check.
38:38So, getting Lauren's super important.
38:40You know, in the climate that we're in, I think it's more important now to keep investing
38:45in the private market within, like, the women's health sector.
38:48These companies need, like, the injection of capital where they need an institutional,
38:53like, firm on the cap table instead of an individual.
38:56Yeah.
38:57So, we don't blank, we don't invest in a blanket fund without seeing a deal.
39:00Okay.
39:01Yeah, okay.
39:02So, we're working a little differently.
39:03We are, like, reserving co-investment opportunities for LPs.
39:08So, they'll get the first look.
39:12And, yeah.
39:17So, I love what you're trying to do.
39:19You know.
39:20I really like you and I like where she's going.
39:22And she's smart.
39:23She's savvy.
39:24I love that about Hannah.
39:25Yeah.
39:26Um, but my big thing now, we have, like, a whole new outlook of where we're having a
39:32lot more control, a lot more input, sitting on a lot of advisory boards, right?
39:37Ultimately, I need, we need to have more control, more insight.
39:40Like, to see deal by deal, and we have deal approval.
39:43Yeah.
39:43I see.
39:43Okay.
39:44So, that's not to say never.
39:47It just means no, not now.
39:49Okay.
39:52Um, we're always willing to, like, create something, you know, interesting for you.
39:57But if, you know, if a fun strategy is not necessarily in your pipeline, like, that's
40:02totally fine.
40:03I mean.
40:03Right now, I don't want to invest in it.
40:05Okay.
40:05So, I'm not going to say never.
40:06Okay.
40:06And that doesn't mean I don't believe in you, because I actually do.
40:11Okay.
40:12Yeah.
40:13All right.
40:13Well, I'll definitely keep that in mind as we.
40:15Yeah.
40:16Yeah.
40:16So.
40:17If she has me invest as a limited partner for a fun that she's doing, I'm just one of
40:21many.
40:22You're limited in what you can get involved in, how much input you have.
40:25I want to be all in.
40:27I'm all in on anything I invest in.
40:29It's just not right for me.
40:30Do you want anything to go on the road?
40:31No, no.
40:32I'm totally fine.
40:32I'm fine.
40:33Asking for money is challenging.
40:35And in order to succeed, you will fail many, many times.
40:38And you will hear more no's than you ever want to hear.
40:41And you know what it does?
40:42It makes you better.
40:43And Hannah has a powerful voice.
40:45She'll find a way through this.
40:46And she'll have to work really hard to make this one happen.
40:49But I believe in her.
41:06Alright.
41:07Hey.
41:13Are you going to cover them and do water with them too or what do you do?
41:16Uh, it just says oil in there.
41:18The fact that Lauren passed,
41:20I just feel like I need a night in.
41:22Pretty bad.
41:24Not ideal.
41:25I hate fundraising.
41:27You know, it takes up a lot of time,
41:29and for what? I'm not reaping any benefits.
41:32I've got the access, I've got the knowledge,
41:35I've got the network,
41:36but there's a disconnect, and, like, I don't get it.
41:39Now I'm trying a new frontier,
41:41one that I feel like my expertise and knowledge
41:43totally represents and would be actually excel
41:47in this industry,
41:49one that's so, like, old school
41:51and has all these invisible hurdles.
41:54It's just, like, how you package the story,
41:56and, like, clearly I haven't figured that out.
41:58Like, everything I've done in my career
41:59has been about painting the way for people
42:01to have a new path forward.
42:04I built a career off of trying all these wellness things.
42:07Like, I just want to build something
42:09that's, like, bigger than just, like, me as a brand.
42:12Yeah, which I think is very plausible and possible,
42:17and it might not be the fund.
42:20You being an influencer,
42:21it's how we monetize our lives.
42:23It's our biggest income driver.
42:25Your fund is 5 to 15 years to get any money back,
42:28and we have a family and everything to support.
42:30Right now, if we just made the same money
42:32we're making without you doing this,
42:34like, we have the freedom to do whatever we want
42:36while we do it, work hard, time for family,
42:38go places, all these things, you know?
42:40So, like, the fund, if all these people won't give you money.
42:43You're still playing the game.
42:44I have a track record.
42:46Yeah.
42:46I've, like, done multiple SPVs.
42:47I've managed multiple people's money.
42:49Like, I've, like, made a return, like...
42:51Yeah.
42:52That's what I'm saying.
42:52Like, don't...
42:54Like, why change, then?
42:55I think it's just tough.
42:56Like, it feels like it's so fun-focused all the time,
42:58and, like, I see our bottom line,
43:00so it is personal, you know?
43:02We need to find ways through it.
43:04I know that I could just be creating content
43:07and be making so much more money,
43:09but I feel compelled to do this
43:11and leave the world a better place for other people.
43:14But again, blessed to have these opportunities.
43:16I get it.
43:17You know?
43:18We're all good.
43:21Okay.
43:23I, like, don't...
43:24No, I don't.
43:25No, I'm so over it.
43:27I appreciate this conversation,
43:29but I'd like it to be over.
43:31For my husband and I not to be on the same page,
43:33it's always, like, defeating.
43:36And I'm trying to juggle it all
43:38and stay true to myself and my purpose,
43:41and right now I feel very alone on this journey.
43:48I love you.
43:52You're gonna crush it, you know it.
43:55Just keep your side mirrors on, you know?
44:02So you can just see all around.

44:55Amber is taking over Motos,
44:57the makeup line that I started many years before.
44:59And she wants to launch during Art Basel Week.
45:02And all the creators, all the influencers,
45:04all the business owners are in town in Miami.
45:06Maybe she could do something beautiful here.
45:08We've done it before.
45:10I mean, if we have to do it here,
45:11I'd rather not put a hundred people in here.
45:14We don't have a lot of time.
45:15Finding a venue of where to do this launch
45:18will be hard.
45:19I don't know what's gonna happen now.
45:21We're working on fixing the tip of the lip balm tube.
45:25Either changing the formula or changing the bottle.
45:28What did they say when it went to testing?
45:29When it does heat up, this one will clog as well.
45:33We really need to focus on building K-skin,
45:36and I can't do it anymore.
45:38Living in Milwaukee with Kyle, something has to change.
45:42I feel like it defeats the purpose
45:43if we're already missing so much time together,
45:46and it's also making it difficult for me to work.
45:49You know?
45:50Yeah.
46:13That's never going to be a party.
46:13No one running the vote.
46:17Cause I am a warrior!
46:21Oh!
46:23Yeah!
46:24Ooh!
46:26Yeah!
46:27Yeah!
46:28Ooh!
46:29Ooh!
46:30I am a warrior!
46:34Ooh!
46:36Ooh!
46:37Yeah!
46:37Ooh!
46:39Ooh!
46:40Ooh!
46:40I am a warrior!
