00:28its current size. Mercury will be swallowed, Venus will be swallowed, and the Earth, our home, will
00:36either be engulfed directly or scorched beyond any recognition as the Sun's surface approaches.
00:42The oceans will boil away in roughly 1 billion years, long before the red giant phase, as the Sun
00:49gradually brightens over time. Life on the surface will become impossible within 500 million to 1
00:56billion years. Not 5 billion. 500 million. That sounds far away. But complex life on Earth
