00:03This is one of the most thoroughly proven facts in the entire history of human knowledge,

00:08confirmed by mathematics, physics, navigation, satellite imagery and direct observation from space.

00:16And the idea that Islam supports a flat Earth is one of the most damaging lies being spread in Muslim

00:23We are going to address all of it. The science, the history and what the Quran actually says.

00:28The spherical Earth was not discovered by NASA. It was calculated with extraordinary precision over 2,000 years ago.

00:37In approximately 240 BCE, a Greek scholar named Eratosthenes calculated the circumference of the Earth using nothing more than two

00:46sticks.

00:48He knew that at noon in Siena, a stick cast no shadow.

00:51In Alexandria, 800 km north, a stick cast a shadow at an angle of 7.2 degrees.

00:59Since 7.2 degrees is 1 50th of 360, he multiplied 800 by 50.

01:05This gave him a circumference of 40,000 km, which is within 0.2% of the actual value.

01:13The spherical Earth was the established scientific consensus long before Islam.

01:19Muslim scholars not only accepted the spherical Earth, they built upon it.

01:25Al-Biruni, the 11th century scholar, calculated the Earth's radius from a mountain peak, achieving an accuracy within 1%.

01:33Al-Idrisi, a 12th century geographer, created the most accurate world map of the medieval era, which showed the Earth

01:42as a sphere.

01:43His precision was unmatched for centuries.

01:46Ibn Rushd, Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi and Al-Kindi all confirmed the spherical Earth.

01:53The idea that medieval Muslims believed in a flat Earth is a modern myth with no historical basis.

02:07And at the Earth, how it was spread out.

02:11The Arabic word is sutihat, meaning spread out.

02:15This describes the Earth's surface as it appears to us, not its overall shape.

02:20Classical commentators like Al-Tabari understood this to mean the Earth is vast and expansive, not flat.
