00:25I think first of all on the decision and when you are convinced about
00:29something.
00:30It wasn't just me, it was Iñaki as well, the goalkeeping coach, it was Edu at the time
00:35who was the sporting director to support the idea when we give them all the elements
00:38to understand that the club has to support it.
00:41And then a player with a tremendous personality to fulfil the role that was demanded at that
00:51time when it was very, very difficult.
00:53And then obviously the quality that he has but the willingness that he has every single
00:57day to learn and to work.
00:59His work ethic, his mentality, his approach to every training session, it's outstanding,
01:05it's phenomenal.
01:07And when you have that, when you have a goalkeeping coach that is as demanding of more than him
01:13as well and you have obviously a team, a function, individual and collectively to perform at the
01:18level that they can do, then it's a good mixture.
01:20But what David has done for us in the last few years, I think it's incredible.
01:25Have you seen those wonderful specials?
01:29Yeah, my kids showed it to me the other day and with a close camera because normally we
01:34look with a wide angle and it is different but with a close camera, especially the moments
01:39that he has produced are incredible.
01:42It's a lot of work from a lot of people and big credit to them and especially to David.
01:48And now we have the three most important ones so hopefully we don't have to see any of those
01:54because that would mean that we done things better a little bit earlier.
01:58Just finally, have they shown you clips of him at his very early start when he went into
02:02Longley?
02:04No, but I've seen it, it's incredible, his journey, it is incredible, the way he has matured,
02:11the way he had to earn things.
02:14It's not tied to his mentality now?
02:16I think so, he has to.
02:18I mean, it's something that has been growing on him, you know.
02:24When you have to really earn it and you value certain things, I think it is a bit different,
02:30not only for him but probably for his family and his friends and his agent and his parents.
02:35And they all know how much you have to do to arrive here and then how hard it is to
02:40maintain
02:41yourself at this level.
02:42Simon?
02:43Just one on that, was he someone that you always wanted to hear even before you started?
02:49I think it was the summer of 2020.
02:51Yeah, two years before, especially when Emi left, that was the idea, to bring him in that
02:59moment and we left Emi go and then we couldn't do it.
03:02Just one on the atmosphere as well.
03:05It's obviously now got to this point where you work so hard on it and I think we saw
03:08in the Let's Go game kind of the culmination of all the work you put in.
03:12I wonder how would you describe the Emirates now and everything it is and compare it to when
03:16you first started here?
03:22Our 12th man and the Magic player I would say because when the stadium provides that
03:29level of energy, of passion, of optimism, of playing every single action with the team,
03:36when we have the ball with us, when the opponent has the ball against the opponent in every element,
03:41they leave the game like that.
03:43Their value of that is just infinite.
03:47I think you cannot measure it and the team becomes different, as simple as that.
03:53Ed?
03:54Just carrying on from that, was that something when you came in as the manager,
03:58you inputted that as one of the first things you wanted to improve the atmosphere?
04:02I was very proud of your role in creating that.
04:06It was the first thing because a few days before I was appointed here,
04:12I was in the other bench with Man City and that image, that feeling of the stadium, the crowd,
04:19the 50% of the stadium was empty.
04:22It really got into me and said, with this, there is no project, there is anything that we're not going
04:27to do.
04:27This is not going to work.
04:29Unfortunately, it got worse very quickly because then COVID hit and then we have, instead of 50%,
04:33we have zero, so it made the job even harder.
04:36So after we have to rebuild everything.
04:39But sometimes when it's harder at the beginning, then it's better.
04:42So to see that transformation and that joy on the people, it's something that is beautiful to watch.
04:50And also the transformation over the last few weeks.
05:05It is very helpful but I think it's something normal.
05:09I think it's supposed to be like this and especially when you haven't won for that long.
05:14It's going to be agey and it's going to be those moments of doubts and I'm very glad that now
05:19we turned that point
05:20and we are very optimistic but being very, very present as well.
05:25Okay, last couple of weeks.
05:26Hi, Michael.
05:27At the training ground last month, there was a clip where we play the training,
05:31there's this TikTok song in the background where it obviously repeats all the artist players' names
05:35and it's a very celebratory song.
05:37After the I'd like to come to read the second later, there's one of the first songs that came out
05:41through the speaker.
05:42Sister, how did that all come about, that song?
05:47It came in a certain way, the players loved it and it's powerful now.
05:51By certain way?
05:53Sorry?
05:54Somewhere, somewhere magical.
05:58In terms of more broadly, there's obviously this coach getting to the stadium early,
06:04a lot of things around the atmosphere, what kind of input have you had this season, last season
06:07in terms of improving the atmosphere and getting the fans on board?
06:10That's one of the main things, I mean, as I said, and everybody at the club is trying to give
06:15his vision, his input, his support to try to encourage that.
06:19But especially what the fans or the supporters need to provide that,
06:23I think it has to come from them naturally and we have to provide that as well.
06:27It goes both ways and we are constantly connected with them to try to be the best stadium in the
06:33world.
06:34That's it.
06:34It is.
06:35I think the coach came in.
06:39Is that something you maybe as a club have permanently going forward where somewhere outside
06:46there will be fans on either side and you get that every game?
06:51And what effect would that have a little bit?
06:55You've made all these small changes everywhere after that, in an area where maybe there could be some changes still
07:00to come.
07:01I would love to. Sometimes the infrastructure doesn't allow you to do certain things,
07:05but with what we have, if we can optimise that in benefit of performance
07:10and generating that atmosphere, I think we have to try to do it.
07:14So we are step by step trying to do it together.
07:31You might have heard against Atletico, which were nice, but you put the crowd behind your eyes.
07:36Are there things that you remember that people might have said or things that happened?
07:40To me, you mean?
07:41About the kind of complete difference in those two's emotions?
07:45Well, but I'm very aware of that.
07:47I mean, depending on the outcome of this season, the narrative, the comments,
07:52or whatever is going to be one way or the other, I accept that as part of the role
07:56and where I'm sitting, that's fine.
