00:00Before the season starts, expectations on certain teams where you get a vibe for, like, maybe this is the season
00:05where they really step up.
00:06One of those teams, it was the Kansas City Royals for me.
00:09And I guess it's a bad omen now, Craig, where it's, hey, we're going to redo our ballpark and bring
00:14defenses in.
00:15Yes! More home runs.
00:16The batters will tear it up, and it just seems like when we do this, the batters go backwards.
00:21I don't know what's wrong with Kansas City, but I look at that lineup.
00:23Give me Vinny Pasquantino.
00:25Yeah, he's batting 2-0-1 on the season.
00:27Oh, no, Salvador Perez.
00:28He's always going to be there.
00:30He's under 200, Craig.
00:31What have you seen from the Royals?
00:33What the heck is going on there?
00:35Yeah, also high expectations for Jack Caglione.
00:39And so a lot of young players that just really haven't come through.
00:43And you really can't rely on Salvador Perez at this point.
00:46They also thought their pitching would be better than what it is.
00:49And, you know, naturally, Witt's going to do the job.
00:51And, you know, they have a lot of – Michael Garcia.
00:54They do have some pieces here.
00:56So, naturally, what happens, Donnie, in this spot?
00:59Like, what happens when you have a team with talent coming off a season last year
01:04where you're just, like, expecting at the very worst them to be similar to what they were a year ago?
01:09And now here they are getting swept by the White Sox, losing a series to the Cardinals.
01:13The arrow, unfortunately, is pointing for a good guy, Matt Quartaro.
01:18Where did he come from, of course, Donnie?
01:19Bench coach of the Tampa Bay Rays.
01:22And, you know, great job with the Royals last year and even the year before.
01:27But, Donnie, he's in the firing line right now.
01:29You know, it's just unfortunate.
01:31It's the way the game goes.
01:32If they lose 100 or 90, they're probably going to go another direction.
01:36They can't fall this far back, especially when they're looking to expand or even get a new stadium,
01:41things of that nature.
01:42So, I don't have the answers, Donnie, because the team is too good to be this bad.
01:46That's just a fact.
01:47The team is too good to play this poorly.
01:50It's a fun roster.
01:51It is.
01:51You're just waiting for some of those young kids to step up, and it's all going backwards,
01:54it feels like, at the same time.
01:55And also, you look at schedules.
01:57Like, we talked about the Philadelphia Phillies, and you brought up J.T. Ramuto.
02:00I mean, we were playing some good baseball teams that were on a run.
02:02Most times, you would say the schedule, oh, thank goodness, a couple games against the
02:06White Sox here, a couple games against St. Louis, just what we need.
02:09Doing a six-game losing streak right now, maybe getting swept on Sunday here from the
02:13St. Louis Cardinals that you'll find out a little bit later.
02:16Just not working out.
