00:00Welcome to Florida.
00:02We're having a party!
00:04Home to theme parks, golden tans and 400,000 Brits.
00:08This one is the one with the view.
00:10Wow!
00:11Who've made the Sunshine State their new home.
00:14I feel blessed every single day.
00:16I'm living the American dream. I definitely am.
00:18They've swapped drizzly winters and gas bills for new careers
00:22and seemingly endless fun in the sun.
00:25Two, one, yay!
00:28Get it right and life in Florida can be like a dream come true.
00:32I get to drive a convertible. It's fabulous.
00:35But getting here and staying here takes hard work.
00:38Good job, good job. Keep it going, team!
00:40Grit.
00:42And determination.
00:44The glamorous side of living in Florida.
00:46These are the Brits who've made their own escape to Florida.
00:56Today on Escape to Florida...
01:01Mums Laura and Lindsay are hoping their first holiday as a family of five...
01:06Look, there they are!
01:08...will be magical.
01:14Pastor Simon Dunn needs all the help he can get.
01:19We've got drums coming through the speakers but no keyboard yet.
01:22And no vocals.
01:23And this place is filling up.
01:24As he organises an Easter Sunday beach service.
01:28We've done the best we can.
01:29Jesus, take the wheel.
01:33And best mates Adam and Wayne...
01:36Stressing out like crazy.
01:38...are feeling the pressure of putting on their first live podcast show.
01:43We are five minutes to topic show.
01:46Once again, we are five minutes to topic shows.
01:48I hope you're funny.
01:49I hope I'm funny as well.
01:57The all-American white picket fence town of Celebration, 25 minutes from Orlando, is home to over 13,000 residents.
02:09Including wives Laura and Lindsay from the west coast of Scotland.
02:12And their two daughters, nine-year-old Darcy, seven-year-old Bella and baby Elliot.
02:20Such a diva, Bella.
02:24What did you find, Bella?
02:26There you are.
02:27I think Celebration is the perfect place to raise your family.
02:32It has got a community feel.
02:35It just feels like home away from home.
02:43The family moved to the Sunshine State in 2023.
02:51Oh!
02:53Rustin.
02:56Where they recently welcomed the latest member of their family, baby Elliot.
03:05Let me drink.
03:11It just feels right that he's here and it feels like he's always been part of our family.
03:20Do you think you can use this to snuggle with him?
03:23We're their moms, we're their teacher.
03:25I'm the taxi driver for every club that we go to.
03:29It smells good.
03:30It does.
03:31We've always wanted to have a big family.
03:33From my point of view, I was an only child.
03:36And when I then lost both my parents, that's an incredibly lonely position to be in.
03:42And I just wanted to have my children never be in that situation and never be alone.
03:48So when we had Darcy, she then needed Bella.
03:51Then there's the two of them, well they need another one.
03:56Lindsay loves a full house.
04:00Do we have our listening ears on?
04:02Yes.
04:03They've definitely started a little bonding and Darcy loves reading her stories to him.
04:09Bella's always trying to tickle him, so yeah, they're doing really well.
04:15So well.
04:17Laura and Lindsay think Elliot's big sisters have earned an extra special treat.
04:23Drum roll please.
04:26You guys are getting to go to Universal Studios.
04:38Excited dad, there she goes.
04:41So excited.
04:43That's my happy dance.
04:44That's your happy dance.
04:48They're off to Orlando and staying at a hotel in the theme park.
04:57Look where we are.
05:00It's their first trip away as a family of five.
05:04Yes, I've got the scrunch.
05:06Come on little man.
05:10Baby Elliot may only be 11 weeks old.
05:15Are you ready?
05:17Let's go.
05:19But the mums are determined Darcy and Bella have an unforgettable time.
05:24Are we ready?
05:25Not yet, not yet.
05:27Yeah, any clues?
05:29It's a minion!
05:31And the girls are staying in a very special room to start the holiday in style.
05:40It's me!
05:44Chocolate!
05:46With a room themed on their favourite film, the popular Minions movie.
05:53Buzzing.
05:54I don't think we liked it.
05:57No.
05:58The bar's now set sky high and the pressure's on.
06:03When I like drew over here.
06:05Okay.
06:06Tonight we steal.
06:08Double.
06:11And tomorrow the new family of five hit the park.
06:23Over 70 million tourists visit Orlando every year.
06:31It's many theme parks and venues employ tens of thousands of people to entertain them.
06:38All right.
06:39Ready to go.
06:44Including Adam from Peterborough, who swashes and buckles four nights a week at the popular pirate dinner show.
06:55Where audiences are served a three course meal while enjoying the acrobatic cut and thrust of a pirate themed stage
07:02show.
07:03We have a cast of 11 performing stunts, fights, songs, drama, comedy throughout the evening to an audience of up
07:11to about 700 people.
07:14Actor and writer Adam left the fair shores of the UK over 15 years ago.
07:23How the tides have turned your highness.
07:26You bow to me now.
07:31In the audience tonight are Adam's American born wife of 11 years Christina and their son.
07:37We got married.
07:38We have a house.
07:39And in 2021 we welcomed our son.
07:43Bryson.
07:44He's now three.
07:45Does he have fun?
07:46Yeah.
07:46High five.
07:47Here you go.
07:48Can you give thumbs up?
07:49There you go.
07:50Good job.
07:54Also watching Adam's antics is his best mate Wayne from Liverpool, who's a fellow entertainer.
08:00With his own side hustle in Florida's popular wrestling world.
08:04Wayne, he's my best mate.
08:07He was the best man at my wedding.
08:09He's the godfather to Bryson.
08:12He's that person who's always there.
08:17Two seasons in you don't get anything I do.
08:20For the past year.
08:22Let's go.
08:24The pair have also devised and hosted their own podcast series together.
08:29Welcome to Fish and Brits where we break down the strange things that happen both sides of the pond.
08:37Their weekly 60 minute shows are similar to a radio program but on demand so listeners can stream or download
08:43them.
08:44The podcast came about after, as all good ideas do, a night in the pub.
08:49I went full scouts then.
08:50Did you notice that?
08:50Came right out didn't it?
08:51Chicken and a can of coke.
08:53Don't start the chicken and a can of coke thing with me again will you?
08:55You know what I mean lad?
08:56It's like doing an hour long stand up comedy set.
09:00It's like a chat show really.
09:02So there you go.
09:02Alright, three, two, one.
09:03Here we have three, two, one against the mics.
09:07With the help of producer Owen, Adam and Wayne's podcast has built up a community of over 4,000 listeners
09:13enjoying their banter about the funnier side of British culture.
09:18This one is called Law and Order.
09:22We're going to look at some ten weird British laws that do genuinely still exist in the UK.
09:29So to celebrate, the lads are hoping to perform their next podcast in front of a live audience.
09:35It is going to be $10 to come and see us.
09:39We $10.
09:40We are cheap and cheerful.
09:43The pair have a lot to do to get the show ready before they can take it to the stage.
09:49And that's the episode.
09:50That's that.
09:53Including finding a stage at a suitable venue.
09:57Can't be doing a show in a bar.
09:59Well, no.
10:00Or a shoebox.
10:01Right.
10:01Maybe a shoebox.
10:02We could sell out a shoebox.
10:04Yeah.
10:04Maybe.
10:05I don't know.
10:19On Florida's Atlantic coast, Sith Satellite Beach.
10:23Founded in 1957 by workers from the NASA space program at nearby Cape Canaveral, it's home to moonwalker Buzz Aldrin.
10:34Along with Warrington-born Simon and his wife Jessica.
10:38I'm making my wife a latte and I do this every morning.
10:42Happy wife, happy life.
10:45He makes the best coffee.
10:47He really does.
10:49Simon came to America 14 years ago.
10:51I ran a coffee shop in Dallas for a couple of years there, so I did learn some barista skills
10:58for sure, yeah.
11:00But brewing coffees wasn't the reason Simon moved stateside.
11:04I was an insurance broker in England for like 15, 16 years.
11:09I was involved in worship leading at my local church as a volunteer.
11:13Came to Bible college and realized you can get paid for leading worship.
11:19That Bible college in Dallas wasn't just where Simon studied.
11:23It's also where he met Jessica.
11:26Babe, you want spinach and tomato in yours?
11:28Yes, please.
11:29I love tomato.
11:31You say tomato, I say tomato.
11:34And despite the language barrier, they married in 2014 and now have a lively band of children.
11:42How about some ice cream after your sandwich, eh?
11:45We can do that.
11:47Yeah.
11:47Okay.
11:48We have four kids.
11:50Abigail, who's ten, and Olivia, who's seven.
11:53And then Emma, who's three, and Ezra, who is just a few days away from turning one.
11:59Two Texans and two Floridians.
12:01The family moved to Florida four years ago for Simon's work.
12:05The job I have here is their worship director.
12:09I'm in charge of the music and worship program in the church, overseeing the band, the vocalists, the tech team.
12:17As one of the church's leadership groups, Simon is known as a pastor.
12:22Thanks, Mama.
12:24Here in America, particularly in the southern states, it's known as the Bible Belt.
12:30Can you pray?
12:31The culture is here that people are paid and are allowed to be on staff in that sense at churches,
12:37because the churches are bigger.
12:38Lord, thank you for this day.
12:41I enjoyed my time in England and gladly did it for free.
12:45But then, obviously, my life changed its course when I moved to America.
12:49And now I have the privilege of being in a job that's fulfilling and provides for my family, too.
12:56Tomorrow is the biggest day of Simon's year.
12:59Are you guys excited for Easter tomorrow?
13:01It's going to be a good day.
13:04Tomorrow morning, we'll do our Easter sunrise service.
13:10Sunrise service is the Easter morning resurrection service that we do on the beach here in Satellite Beach.
13:18It's an amazing experience just to see the sun rising as people are worshipping together.
13:25The whole family will be there despite the early start.
13:29Excited for the service tomorrow?
13:31I'm just not excited to wake up at like 6am.
13:34No.
13:35We'll set an alarm.
13:37Even though he's their dad, the kids still struggle with Simon's Warrington accent.
13:42What's the last letter of the alphabet?
13:43Z.
13:44No!
13:46Say it again, ready?
13:47Z.
13:48There is no D in the letter Z.
13:53And it's zebra, not zebra.
13:56Since Covid, congregation numbers have dropped.
13:59Simon hopes that the Easter Sunday service on the beach will attract new members to the church.
14:07I've got an integral role in it in terms of organising the service and leading the music element of the
14:13service too.
14:14Setting up the speakers, the stage, the sound board. There's a lot of things that go into it.
14:20And with that, Simon's off on his beloved Harley Davidson to sort out the gear for tomorrow's service.
14:26I'm going to head to the church and make sure the preparation's going okay for tomorrow.
14:31I'm loading up the trailer and the equipment, ready for our early start in the morning.
14:35See you later.
14:42Bye guys.
14:43The church's tech gurus Justin and Alex have been prepping all the equipment to take to the beach.
14:49How many amps are we running?
14:51Three or four.
14:52Three or four.
14:54With over a thousand people expected to attend, the team needs to double check that everything is ready to go.
15:01You're going to put the generator under the walkway where people come in.
15:06He can't do a full test until they're on the beach tomorrow.
15:09But for now, a trial run will make sure everything's in working order.
15:14Sound check is basically making sure the instruments are coming through, you know, the music's coming through, the speakers are
15:19working.
15:20And we've got power to everything because we're running it all through a generator.
15:23And so there's only so much power it can produce.
15:26Let's try it.
15:27So we've got to make sure there's enough juice for all these speakers and instruments as well.
15:31Power.
15:33Woo! There we go. We have liftoff.
15:36There's a lot of work involved in organizing this kind of event.
15:40Music is a key element of worship.
15:43I mean, when you look in the Bible, the Book of Psalms, they were set to music.
15:47Obviously different instruments back then.
15:49Something that can stir the emotions.
15:51It can touch the heart.
15:52Bring people together to sing common melodies and praise to God.
16:03Yes!
16:06Now it's time to get everything packed up
16:08and pray for a bright, smooth start early tomorrow morning.
16:18Over in Orlando...
16:24Scottish wives Lindsay and Laura and their family have settled into their resort hotel
16:29and are fueling up before heading into the park.
16:35Master Edison is joining us.
16:37Master Edison is joining the party.
16:40It's the first big family outing since baby Elliot was born 11 weeks ago.
16:45How was your Minions bedroom?
16:48It was good.
16:49Awesome.
16:49It was fun.
16:52Yeah, girls are absolutely buzzing.
16:54Absolutely buzzing.
16:55Nine-year-old Darcy and seven-year-old Bella might be excited.
16:59So who did we get to meet today?
17:02Elphaba and Glen.
17:04Yeah!
17:06But Mum Laura is giving them a run for their money.
17:09This is one of my Wicked tattoos.
17:11This is my Elphaba.
17:12I love Wicked so I can't wait to meet Elphaba and Glinda.
17:16That will be really fun.
17:18I just want to see everybody having a good time.
17:21You know, it's been busy, busy, busy.
17:23So if we can just have some good family time.
17:25That's the main thing, isn't it?
17:27As well as a treat for new big sisters Darcy and Bella,
17:31the park also has extra special meaning for Laura and Lindsay.
17:35Would you guys like to see something?
17:37Yes, yes, yes, yes.
17:40They were married at a hotel in this theme park.
17:44Look, there we are.
17:46It's pretty.
17:47This is our 10th year anniversary.
17:51Look how skinny we are.
17:52Oh, I know.
17:53We were already engaged but we got married very last minute.
17:58Look, I had really long hair.
18:00And it wasn't very grey back then.
18:03The couple were visiting Florida at the time
18:05to start the fertility treatment that would give them Darcy.
18:09I look like Mum.
18:10You look like Bella.
18:12Bella looks like you, Mama.
18:13I was looking at it and I was like,
18:15oh, I think we have to be married before we get any medical treatment
18:20so that I can be named on the birth certificate in the UK.
18:24We just thought we need to get married, we need to get married now.
18:26It was the best day ever.
18:28Because you know what? It was just me and Mama.
18:30And we got to have nachos for our lunch.
18:34With nachos.
18:35That was our wedding dinner.
18:37Ten years on, Laura and Lindsay are hoping to make more special memories today.
18:43Where do you think this picture was taken?
18:46Universal.
18:49For the first time, those memories will be as a family of five.
18:53Do you think we could recreate that picture with all five of us today?
18:59Could we do that?
19:01With rides to enjoy, film characters to meet and a photo to recreate...
19:07OK, let's go.
19:09OK, girls, come on through.
19:12The family had better get moving.
19:15Yes!
19:17Here we go!
19:19Woo-hoo!
19:24The hotel they're staying at includes travel to the entrance by water taxi.
19:30Are you excited?
19:32Yes, I'm excited.
19:33We're here!
19:38All aboard to start making those family memories.
19:46Just down the road in the small city of Clermont...
19:51Cambridgeshire-born Adam and his best mate Liverpool Liam Wayne have hit the road.
19:59Thanks for driving.
20:02You're welcome.
20:05To celebrate a successful first year, they're preparing to put on a live show based on their podcast.
20:12Today we're looking at three venues. We've narrowed it down to three choices for our live show.
20:17Age before beauty.
20:18Ladies first.
20:22The first place the chaps are checking out as a potential space is a local British pub.
20:27Hi, Martin. I'm Wayne.
20:28Wayne, good to meet you.
20:29Adam, nice to meet you.
20:30Adam, good to meet you. How are you?
20:31Yeah, good.
20:34Adam and Wayne's comedy podcast celebrates the cultural differences between the UK and the US.
20:41We can see about 160 people.
20:46It will be their first ever live show and the pressure's on to draw a decent crowd.
20:52The stage area we can use. We've got the sound systems on there for you to use.
20:56A new one.
20:56And it's a good place to host it from.
20:59That's right, I sit on the right.
21:00There you go.
21:01It's like it's made for you.
21:02We're looking for a fair to middling crowd. If we can get 100, I'll be happy.
21:07Yeah, me too.
21:07Maybe a bit more than that, but...
21:09Ten would be a laugh.
21:10Ten would be good.
21:11At least you'd get more than us.
21:12Yeah.
21:13Three is a goal.
21:16Good luck with it.
21:17Hey, thanks, mate.
21:18Hope to speak to you soon.
21:19Nice pub, good place, not really suited for what we were trying to do.
21:23Thanks, guys.
21:32On to the next location, then.
21:35Hey, mate.
21:36See, look, they've got pigs.
21:39Wayne's brought Adam to a farm and venue he performs at regularly in his sideline in pro wrestling.
21:46You do know that we're trying to do a British-themed podcast live show, not Countryfile the Musical.
21:52Yes, I am very aware.
21:54All right.
21:55Great venue.
21:56Love it.
21:58Not exactly suited for live theatre.
22:03Very loud, very open.
22:04Big barn.
22:06Which means just one venue left over in Orlando.
22:10This is a little more me, don't you think?
22:13Well, yeah, the gold leaf and frilly flower thing he's getting.
22:17Chosen by Adam himself.
22:21Who were?
22:21Something a bit sparkly.
22:23Look, it's very fancy-schmancy.
22:26It's next to where he does his pirate shows.
22:29Well, go on, then. Pick that book up.
22:32What the...?
22:35It's subtlety that I'm going for.
22:37Yeah, that was subtle.
22:39I've pulled a few strings and found a theatre that some colleagues own.
22:45And we're going to see how that goes.
22:47This is a bit much.
22:48I mean, I can get a tractor in here for you if you like.
22:52He just needs to convince Wayne.
22:55What?
22:56Full bar.
22:57Wow-wee.
22:59Stage.
23:00And this beautiful.
23:01Oh, wow.
23:04We're coming from here, one either side.
23:06Bloody hell.
23:07Cannon and ball now.
23:08It's got a seating capacity of 180.
23:11So the audience will be very close to us.
23:14All right, let's do it.
23:14Go, man. Let's kill it.
23:15Let's go.
23:17Wayne's on board.
23:18The boys have a venue for their show.
23:22Stand right there.
23:23Stand right there.
23:24Is this my mark?
23:25That's your mark.
23:26Imagine talking to the crowd.
23:27Oh, now I'm going to throw up.
23:30But the reality of selling 180 tickets and entertaining a full house is starting to set in.
23:37I mean, I'll be honest.
23:39Yeah.
23:39This is feeling way more real now.
23:42Like, you know.
23:44Yeah.
23:44This is happening.
23:46Yeah.
23:47Yeah, this is a bit nerve-wracking.
23:51Bloody hell.
23:52There you go.
23:53Hi, how are you?
23:54Step right off.
23:54Hello, how's it going?
24:05On average, 25,000 people visit Universal Studios Florida every day.
24:15And today, five of them are Lindsay and Laura from Scotland.
24:20One, two, three.
24:23And their three kids, Darcy, Bella and baby Elliot.
24:31We are recreating our picture that we took over ten years ago.
24:35There's too many of us to do a selfie now.
24:38We have to take it from afar.
24:40We're not the two girls posing in front of the globe anymore.
24:42You know, there's five of us now.
24:44We wanted to celebrate that journey that Lindsay and I have came on.
24:47And, of course, treat the girls for just having been the best sisters to Elliot.
24:52Thank you so much.
24:54How wonderful.
24:55Oh, look, we've recreated our picture.
24:59All five.
25:00All five.
25:00All five of us.
25:05And the next stop for this family of five, Minion Land, Darcy and Bella's favourite.
25:11Today, having to mess out on the right, we made a deal that Laura would do the girls today and
25:15I would do Elliot.
25:17While Lindsay's left holding the baby, Laura, Darcy and Bella are having a blast.
25:29Laura, Lindsay and the girls moved to Florida full time two years ago.
25:34Are you so ready?
25:39Life in the sunshine state has had a positive effect on eldest daughter, Darcy.
25:47Yay!
25:49Darcy has a speech and language disorder, an expressive and a receptive language delay.
25:56She was non-verbal until about, you know, properly until about the age of four.
26:02Yay!
26:04It was written in a UK doctor's diagnosis letter that Darcy would never go on to achieve things like attend
26:13university.
26:14Hey!
26:17Bella!
26:19We say Bella!
26:21We wanted to bring Darcy over to the US to get speech therapy because we got recommendations from friends we
26:27had here.
26:28So again, before we moved here, I was bringing her over.
26:32It's taken years, we still have to work on it, even now.
26:38The past two years have seen Darcy go from strength to strength.
26:43We didn't sleep much, Minions. We were too excited to meet you today.
26:47This girl is scoring 98% on tests, so she is a smart cookie and the warmth and generosity of
26:57spirit that she has, we're incredibly proud of.
27:00Thank you, Minions! Have a great day! Mwah! Mwah!
27:05The Minions kept us high-fives, we asked them questions, and we also, we did it, thank you!
27:16The first family day as a quintet could not be going better, but for wicked superfan Laura...
27:23Look, there they are!
27:27Hi!
27:31It might just be about to defy gravity!
27:43In Satellite Beach, it's not even the crack of dawn.
27:48Morning Scotty! Morning!
27:50How are you doing?
27:52And in this darkest hour, Pastor Simon and his team are setting up for his church's Easter Sunday sunrise service.
28:01Simon, do you have more stuff up there?
28:03In the back of my Jeep, I've got some music stands.
28:07I arrived here at 5am.
28:08The plan for today is right now is all hands on deck, setting up all the stage and the equipment,
28:14and then get ready for the service.
28:15OK, let's get the cross up, let's get the lights on it as well.
28:18We'll start the service at 6.30, yeah, sunrise will be at 6.51.
28:22There's a little bit of nerves, I obviously want it to come off well today, we've put a lot of
28:25work into it, so a bit of adrenaline flowing right now.
28:29There's only an hour and a half to get everything ready, but before sunrise, the lack of light makes every
28:34job that bit harder.
28:37It's challenging working in the dark, you've got mics.
28:40I've got four mics, you want three or four?
28:41You know we've got headlamps.
28:42There's still more in here.
28:43No, four's good, I've already got one.
28:45At the moment it looks like we'll be on time, but we don't really know until we get all the
28:48speakers set up.
28:49We've got the generator running, we've got the power cables laid, and then as soon as we get some music
28:54playing through the system, then I'll be happy, then I know it works.
28:57So, got a bit to go yet, but we're on the way.
29:00That's great, there's a pedal there, cables, great.
29:02If you put that next to my keyboard, that'll be awesome.
29:05Thanks a lot.
29:07Taking the service on the beach is a chance to attract new members to Simon's Church.
29:12So this is the main stage, and this is the first time in my time here that we've done it
29:17right in front of the ocean, so people can see the sunrise as the service is going on, so I
29:22think it's going to make for a pretty epic moment.
29:25While it may be early, people are already arriving to get the best spots.
29:29Today I got here at 5.30. They fill up quickly. We've been on the beach. We just brought our
29:34two chairs, a cup of coffee and a blanket in case we needed it.
29:38The stage is ready. Now Simon can turn his attention to the instruments.
29:44Shall we get the service on there? I'll load up this service for us.
29:48We're going to do a sound check. As soon as we get the gear set up, we'll check all the
29:52microphones, all the instruments. The clock is ticking.
29:56With the event start time fast approaching, the band's ready for sound check.
30:00Yeah, it's playing on here. But tech gurus Alex and Justin's set up still needs work.
30:07How long do you think it'll be? Will we get sound?
30:10I don't know if I think it'll be ten minutes.
30:12About ten minutes? Yeah, Matt.
30:13OK, because we're at six o'clock.
30:18Mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum.
30:20Got to warm the vocals up. You're at the beach, it dries you out.
30:24Mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum. It's always mum.
30:28Mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum.
30:31How are we doing, Justin? We good?
30:33With upwards of a thousand people expected, the sound system is crucial.
30:38You want the guitar channel? Yeah, which one's there?
30:40Without it, no-one will hear the music or the sermon.
30:45Come on, Justin. Let's get it going.
30:48With just 15 minutes until the service starts, the sound check is finally underway.
30:54We're waiting on Justin to get the instruments coming through.
30:57I'm playing now, but we've got no sound at the moment.
30:59But it isn't going well.
31:01We've got drums coming through the speakers, but no keyboard yet, and no vocals.
31:05And this place is filling up.
31:07Is the guitar good?
31:10No. Can't hear it anywhere.
31:14We've got seven minutes.
31:16Yeah, no pressure, just seven minutes.
31:18But this is the closest we've ever got to the start without a sound check.
31:23And this needs to work today.
31:33Back in Orlando, the fun capital of Florida.
31:39Woo!
31:42Podcasting pals Adam from Cambridgeshire and Wayne from Liverpool are hoping to add to the entertainment.
31:49It's growing on me.
31:51Wait till the lights hit it.
31:52Yeah.
31:53Yeah.
31:54I know.
31:55I look like Bloody Freddy style.
31:58They're putting on a live show based on their podcast in just a few hours.
32:06I'm getting the blue one.
32:09Thank you very much.
32:10This takes an eye on this one for us because this is our very first live event.
32:13Can I have one of these with this coat?
32:15No.
32:17I hope you're funny.
32:18I hope I'm funny as well.
32:20Wayne and I have, we've got a good working relationship.
32:24It helps that it stems from our friendship.
32:26Do you want a hand?
32:30He's very much the funny focus of the show.
32:34I'm very much the straight man, the foil.
32:36I do a lot of the organizational work, which I take on myself quite happily because then he doesn't know
32:42what's coming up on the show.
32:43And that's fun for me.
32:47Adam and Wayne are putting on the show to celebrate their first year podcasting together.
32:51But with not long until showtime.
32:54We're stressing out like crazy.
32:56The pair are starting to feel the pressure.
33:00What's your biggest worry?
33:01A 90 minute show that's not been completely run through top to bottom, mostly improvised with the structure with you
33:08who famously goes off on tangents.
33:10And I have to keep in line and we have to close up this venue at a very specific time
33:14so we cannot go over and there's no editing involved.
33:17Next.
33:20Although the friends don't have an exact script, there is a structure they need to follow, all themed around the
33:26quirkier side of British culture.
33:28We haven't started the full run through yet. This is just...
33:34The doors open in less than two hours.
33:37Look at me.
33:41Sorry, I'm here.
33:42Where do you want me? Here?
33:51We test you out here. We need two people who think they know...
33:56Well...
33:59Time check.
34:03But ready or not, with doors opening in half an hour, the show must go on.
34:09You know what? Let's see what happens.
34:12I don't live by that.
34:13Yeah, I know. I don't either. I was just trying to be good.
34:15I'm not really... I'm panicking. I'm freaking out.
34:17See, this is the thing. We don't actually rehearse these things because it's all off the cuff.
34:21But it feels like we should have done on this one.
34:23What were we thinking?
34:24Don't know, mate.
34:26It's fine.
34:27It'll be alright.
34:28Yeah.
34:33Back at the theme park...
34:39Scottish mums Lindsay and Laura's special family day has taken a magical turn.
34:48And Bella, what was your favourite one?
34:55The family of four became five when baby Elliot was born almost three months ago.
35:01Did you see our little munchkin?
35:03The little one.
35:05This is Elliot.
35:06We really wanted this first trip with Elliot to be really special for the girls too.
35:11Treat them for being awesome big sisters and just really doing amazing through the past couple of months.
35:17Oh, nice toss, toss.
35:20But it's not just nine-year-old Darcy and seven-year-old Bella who are having a wicked time.
35:26Would you like to see my birthday?
35:27Let's see an elephant.
35:29Toss, toss.
35:30Nice, Elphaba.
35:33Laura is a massive fan of the musical and movie Wicked about the witches of Oz.
35:43You've got Elphaba who is completely different and is proud to be different, embraces what makes her different and that
35:50really is the messaging that we're trying to raise our kids with.
35:54Awesome.
35:57Thank you Elphaba for taking time to meet our family.
36:02Darcy and Bella are homeschooled so even fun days out are also opportunities to learn.
36:07Awesome.
36:08Awesome, wonderful.
36:10It teaches us about it's fine to be different who you are and being yourself.
36:21Hi.
36:24And there is more fun to be had for Elliot's big sisters.
36:32I scream, you scream, I scream.
36:35Aw, trolls make everybody happy.
36:46Hello.
36:48Hey.
36:48Hey, what's up guys, how you doing?
36:50Hi.
36:53Life in Florida as a family is giving Laura and Lindsay a chance at their own happily ever after.
37:00You and I, we've got the same accent, we're Scottish.
37:02You do same.
37:03Yeah.
37:06It was a bit of a pipe dream that we wanted to have, you know, a big family and be
37:11able to get one, never mind three now.
37:13Get out my swamp!
37:15Get out my swamp!
37:17It's not easy for us and it's been a long, long process.
37:22We're ten years in now, over ten years, actually trying to have kids and yeah, it's just a bit of
37:31a miracle that it's actually happened.
37:33Well, thank you for having us in your swamp today.
37:35Absolutely.
37:36Anytime, baby.
37:37We've loved hanging out with you.
37:41We've had a lovely family day and some lovely quality time, haven't we?
37:46But now we're all tired and we're going to go for cold showers.
37:48Yes?
38:04In Satellite Beach, Pastor Simon's Easter sunrise service is two minutes from starting.
38:12Check, check, mic check.
38:14But there's still no sound coming through the speakers.
38:18Hey Justin, have you got my vocals?
38:20Check, one, two, check, check, mic check.
38:25One, two, one, two, one, two, mic check, check.
38:27There we go, we've got mic check.
38:29Okay, great, thank you.
38:31The mics are up and running but one instrument's still silent.
38:35What about my keyboard?
38:40That's it.
38:41The event is due to begin and the congregation are waiting.
38:45Hey Justin, we can't wait any longer.
38:47It's 6.30.
38:49Good job, Simon's got a plan B.
38:51So we'll have to go with acoustic guitar.
38:53I've got no keys at all so my microphone's working but my keyboard isn't.
38:57So we're calling it, we're going to go without keyboard.
39:00Just go with what we've got now.
39:01I just crank it up and yeah.
39:06Lord help us right now.
39:08We've done the best we can.
39:10This is always the case at the beach and Jesus take the wheel.
39:15And with that leap of faith.
39:17This is it, we're going to start right now.
39:19No sound check, but hey.
39:23Got to be ready in all seasons.
39:25The service can begin.
39:28All right, good morning everybody.
39:30We're going to sing a song together.
39:32This song is called Living Hope.
39:34And you'll found it in your bulletin.
39:36So if you want to sing along with us.
39:41Simon, his family and congregation have their service.
39:45And right on cue, there's sunrise.
39:55The timing didn't work out in the end.
39:57The guys were here at 4am setting it all up.
39:59But they just ran out of time to do it for 6.30.
40:02But I just tried to keep my peace.
40:04And in the end, you know, we made the best of what we had.
40:10Join in, in the joy, in the hope, in the love of Easter.
40:16Amen?
40:17It's good to see you, even if it's in your pajamas.
40:19You look good.
40:23I love what happened today.
40:25It actually came through the clouds.
40:26So it was actually a great sunrise today as it passed through.
40:30I think somebody might have set it up for us, yeah.
40:33The service over.
40:35What did the crowd think?
40:36We live on the other coast and we come out here every year because this is different.
40:42There's something about the sun coming up over the water that just has an extra special connection.
40:47The praise and worship is a beautiful time to just centre ourselves beforehand and during.
40:54It was a beautiful acoustic time.
40:57Time.
40:59For Simon and the church was coming to the beach as success.
41:03I thought the service was great.
41:05You know, it didn't go according to plan.
41:07But in the big scheme of things, it went really well.
41:11There'd be over a thousand people here.
41:13We invited people at the end of the service to come and join our community, join our church.
41:18The fact that people here are lingering and talking about it, I think they enjoyed it.
41:22It was a great experience.
41:25And Simon's biggest fans are always there to support him.
41:29I like the songs that you chose.
41:31You like the songs today?
41:32Yeah.
41:33Even though the keyboard didn't work?
41:35We'd always had a heart for Florida.
41:38It was always in the back of our mind.
41:39One day I'd love to live in Florida.
41:41And so if I could work in a church in Florida and make that my occupation to do something that
41:45I love to do,
41:46I thought that would be a dream come true.
41:48And here it is.
41:53On the other side of Orlando.
42:00It's almost showtime for Adam from Cambridgeshire and his buddy, Liverpudlian Wayne.
42:10Sounds pretty good.
42:14The theme park entertainers have been working hard, preparing a live version of their comedy show to celebrate their first
42:21year of podcasting.
42:25I should have a wee before we start this.
42:26Have a wee?
42:27Yeah.
42:27This might be one of the most stressful shows I've done.
42:32I think so much is riding on it personally to not want this podcast to fail.
42:41Adam and Wayne knew some friends and family were coming out, but the theatre is packed to the rafters with
42:47over 180 people.
42:50We are five minutes to top of show. Once again, we are five minutes to top of show.
42:57They've all paid $10 a pop. So Adam and Wayne need to entertain.
43:04I love you. Let's have fun.
43:05Let's do it.
43:08It's now or never.
43:19Welcome to Fishing Brits Live.
43:24Our entrance on the stage was absolutely mental.
43:28There were people standing, cheering, clapping.
43:30Everybody having a good time?
43:34Absolutely wild.
43:36Exactly one year ago tomorrow, we started our podcast.
43:41Our first episode came out.
43:45It's crazy.
43:50As well as performing on stage and at theme parks, Wayne's also handy with a cattle whip.
43:57Yeah, it works. It's working.
44:03He's just never shown his skills in such a small space before.
44:07Darling, my love, my wife, could you scooch back please?
44:10Because it's going to be a mess.
44:12Nobody move.
44:15Don't move.
44:16Don't move.
44:17Don't move.
44:18Start moving.
44:19Don't move.
44:26And it looks like the Brits have been ahead.
44:29I thought the show was really great.
44:32So beautiful, incredible.
44:36I haven't read it yet.
44:38It was like the old Morecambe and Wise.
44:41It was the cannon and bore.
44:42It was just great to see an American audience absolutely lap it up.
44:46To the Sonic 80.
44:52The crowd was great.
44:53I think we picked up some great listeners from the live show as well.
44:56Who listens to the podcast?
44:58Oh yeah.
45:01Who will be after this?
45:04There you go.
45:05I thought we're going to have 20 people out there.
45:08It's going to be, huh?
45:10But man, thanks so much, buddy.
45:12We really pulled this off.
45:13This was crazy.
45:15Couldn't have done it with that.
45:26That's the budget, ladies and gentlemen.
45:28Good night.
45:33I love you.
45:35You're drunk.
45:36He hates this part.
45:37He does.
45:38Let's see you in season 3!
45:40Come on!
45:41Come on!
