Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy appeared to take direct aim at Donald Trump during his fiery concession speech after losing the GOP Senate nomination race. Without naming Trump directly, Cassidy criticized claims of stolen elections, online political attacks, and leadership driven by personal loyalty over constitutional values. Trump quickly celebrated Cassidy’s defeat online, calling his political career “OVER” after years of tension between the two Republicans following Cassidy’s 2021 impeachment vote.

00:04I thank y'all so much for being here. I really do.
00:08We love you!
00:13First, let me start. I have spoken with John, I have spoken with Julia, and I congratulated them both.
00:20This was not the result that I necessarily wanted, but I feel great.
00:26I have been able to go across our state for the last six months in the battle of the campaign,
00:32meeting people across our state who care about our state, and I feel great for the privilege.
00:37Let me just say that.
00:46My pastor's supposed to be on sabbatical, and he's here, so thank you, Kevin, for showing up, brother.
00:53And let me say my thank yous first. First, thank you, Laura Cassidy.
01:04Thank you to my family, thank you to you, and thanks to the voters of Louisiana that told their lover
01:11for Bill Cassidy.
01:12Thank you very much.
01:19Now, I came out and I said I feel great. I do feel great.
01:23You know, I've had the privilege of representing the state of Louisiana for 12 years.
01:28I've been able to participate in democracy, and when you participate in democracy,
01:34sometimes it doesn't turn out the way you want it to.
01:37But you don't pout. You don't whine. You don't claim that the election was stolen.
01:43You don't find a reason why.
01:50You don't manufacture some excuse.
01:53You thank the voters for the privilege of representing the state or the country for as long as you've had
01:58that privilege.
01:59And that's what I'm doing right now.
02:08The people who voted for me want leaders who work for the good of everyone, not just for themselves.
02:16And as your senator, that's been my mission.
02:19And I built it upon being a doctor.
02:21Medicine teaches you that words can uplift and words can destroy.
02:26That you have the great trust of a patient, but with trust of a patient comes great responsibility.
02:33And as scripture says, to he or she, too much has been given, much is required.
02:39And I feel in my life I've been blessed so much I've been required to do a lot.
02:43And it's been a privilege to do it for the last 12 years, and I'm thanking you.
02:53And let me just set the record straight.
02:56Our country is not about one individual.
03:04It is about the welfare of all Americans, and it is about our Constitution.
03:12And it is the welfare of my people, and my state, and my country, and our Constitution to which I
03:19am loyal.
03:24And if someone doesn't understand that, and attempts to control others through using the levers of power,
03:31they are about serving themselves.
03:33They are not about serving us.
03:40And that person is not qualified to be a leader.
03:44Now, being a conservative doesn't mean trying to destroy your opponent.
03:50Trying to destroy your opponent.
03:52It means trying to win them over with the power of your ideas.
03:56Leaders must unite.
03:58History shows that when the American people are united, we can beat any country, we can beat any problem,
04:04and that's what we have now.
04:06Leadership should be steady, not erratic, thoughtful, not impulsive.
04:09And leaders should think through the consequences of their actions before embarking on something,
04:16and then seeing the American people suffer those consequences later.
04:21That's how leaders should be judged, and I welcome that judgment on the 12 years I will have spent in
04:26the Senate.
04:27I'm also asked if I am bothered by being attacked on the Internet.
04:32Insults only bother me if they come from somebody of character and integrity.
04:43And I find that people of character and integrity don't spend their time attacking people on the Internet.
04:53What matters to me is making our country and our state a better place.
04:57I will continue from my time in the Senate to work to make better paying jobs for our state,
05:02making health care and health insurance more affordable, lowering the cost of gas and groceries,
05:08helping parents secure a better future for their children.
05:13That is what I've been fighting for, and I will continue to fight for as long as I am in
05:17the Senate.
05:17I will work for you. You, you, you are my highest priority.
05:24I will work for our state, our country, in office and out of office, facing those tough challenges we still
05:31have.
05:32That is my pledge. Thank you for being here.
05:35Gosh, I will know.
05:35You are my
05:35So let's see
