00:14well this is it the first bell of the new era of women's boxing on sky sports mvp w01 gets
00:22underway here at the old famous olympia and those historians amongst you will obviously know this
00:29terrific venue as the prince nasim hamed flying at ring wall and here's hoping we get some magic
00:40elizabeth ashoba in the black and gold with the gold tassels and chelsea arnell in the black and red
00:51and during the intros there you heard big mo say that elizabeth was nigeria's nigeria's first ever
00:57female world title holder she captured the ibo title and has a version of the wbc silver
01:06and the first obvious thing to notice is she's very very long limb macklin you would think if she
01:13can get everything in the right direction and and really sort of hone and sort of just tweak those
01:19brilliant amateur skills she's going to make a very very dangerous pro nine wins five inside the
01:23distance already yeah she looks very well balanced nice fluid sharp jab really snapping it out mixing
01:31it up as well head and body delight to say that joining uh uh natty macklin and myself stacy copeland
01:39in commentary as well welcome along stacy
01:45really athletic as well isn't she elizabeth the show but it's what's uh really stands out from
01:50watching a previous uh footage it's got those long limbs as you point out but athletic physique as well
01:58she's already finding the target there was a crisp right hand but there was a left hook that she she
02:03didn't throw long even because of those long levers she threw it quite short and it clipped the chin of
02:07chelsea now who took it well but it is a menacing start right hand over the top as well off
02:12the back
02:12of a sharp jab this is very very impressive stuff from elizabeth ashoba who the three minutes just to
02:18work her way into the round and stacy it'd be interesting to see how fighters develop with that
02:25three minute time period you know if we have the time it'd be great to get your argument for and
02:29against it yeah i mean i think there's i think there are arguments for and against the two rounds have
02:34been blistering uh you know brought some really exciting fights haven't it because you know as a
02:39fighter in the back of your mind you have to get your work done quickly but then most and i
02:45was the
02:45same we always trained three minute rounds until you got closer to the fight and then you'd go to
02:50the two minutes so some of them it'll give them chance to set up the shots better work the way
02:55in
02:56and maybe plant the feet a bit more where their opponent yeah that third minute could make a difference
03:02for stoppages and it oh she's doing a bit of a work over job here though ashoba so far
03:07yeah very sharp very loose and fluid very relaxed good variety as well she can hook that jab's
03:14really potent bit of sting on it but she can turn it into a hook as well and even the
03:19left hooks the
03:19body are working well for her chelsea arnel she's staying with her she just perhaps needs to bring that
03:24left hand up ever so slightly because the right hand from ashoba looks a really really dangerous weapon
03:35she just lets it go as well she doesn't uh sort of telegraph it it's short and it's long and
03:42it's
03:42been probably the hallmark of that first three minutes very very impressive from elizabeth ashoba
03:49the 26 year old making her mvpw debut
04:00that right hand is really doing the damage isn't it and she's she's found a range with it as well
04:05and that's dangerous chelsea now is going to have to make adjustments to make sure that either she's
04:11keeping that left hand really tight which as you can see there it wasn't or she's going to have to
04:16take ahead of that central line isn't she because she's not going to want to ship too many of those
04:21because now that she's found the accuracy and the timing in the range for those there's going to be
04:27more to come
04:37looks brilliant in here and as the evening sun just fades away we'll be cloaked in darkness
04:44as we make our way towards those four brilliant televised world title fights
04:48the first of the mvpw era sky sports
04:54what did you make of that opening minutes from ashoba there matt
04:57i thought she was impressive the jab particularly well
05:01found her range now even coming in with the double jab
05:04following it with the right hand closing that distance
05:07i think uh she's going to get progressively better as the rounds go on
05:14there's an unbelievable story behind ashoba she used to have to walk to the gym back home in nigeria
05:20a gym that had very little facilities and equipment for her to use
05:27it was a dream for her to change her family's life and she said she dreamt it into existence
05:32linking up with jake paul
05:35and here she is now off the back of what was a very impressive
05:39amateur career
05:44oh good right hand again from ashoba she's really climbed to it
05:49it just dips at the knees ever so slightly she's just a little bit out of range yeah i think
05:54she
05:54gets a half a step closer and there'll be more pop on those shots she's landing the target but the
05:59some of the power's gone out of it she's not quite there yet but she is trying to cover the
06:04distance with
06:05her feet and she will get there she's just a little bit short of it at the minute
06:09that was better from chelsea arnel i wonder
06:12if the game plan for her just to try and readjust is just to try and close that distance a
06:17little bit
06:17be at distance don't be at mid-range just try and get on ashoba's chest although
06:23she's letting her hands go like this ashoba she's very very eye-catching and easy on the eye
06:28certainly the safest place for her to be up close isn't it because at range she's detonates that that
06:32backhand and going back to what you were saying and a huge commitment isn't it to to make the journey
06:37over here and relocate here to follow your dreams i was chatting to her and a coach at the hotel
06:42earlier and good right hand from ashoba and again that's two the third just misses
06:49it's just turning the screw here 50 seconds left in the second round
06:53you could see that this would would happen in in the second round because in the first you'd already
06:58started to find that targeting chelsea arnel's been in some really good battles you know for the central
07:04area with lindsey vecinski and english title as well so she's not not no stranger to this but i think
07:12she's in with a different beast here with the shoulder she's just landed two hard left hooks
07:17to show but the right hands are working now the left hooks are landing as well
07:24arnel's taking them though for the moment no doubt she may well have been buzzed by a couple of those
07:29but
07:30she is still there she's still throwing away
07:39yeah two up i think she's got to move that head or step out of range she's taking a lot
07:44of punishment there
07:51well it's good to be back and it is a spectacular venue i don't want to ask how old everybody
07:58was
07:58back in 2000 but i love these historic old venues you know a little bit of a traditionalist to think
08:04that in this venue just next door is where nasim hamid came down in what is surely one of the
08:11most
08:11famous ring walks in all of british boxing here i would have thought yeah definitely and he he
08:17delivered in the ring as well that night really impressive performance i think it was way to bongu
08:21wasn't it knocked him out the fourth round
08:25the prince
08:29seeing his son carrying on that legacy now
08:35seconds with the shot round as we said that silver medal in 2022 lost to the
08:40great mikhaila walsh in the final no shame in that mikhaila just
08:46terrifically successful in the amateur code but it just shows the sort of pedigree of fighters that
08:51ashoba was mixing with
08:54again here ashoba she's trying to spin with the shot now
08:58she looks like she's come out much more aggressive in this third round doesn't she
09:03really suited to the pro game like she's got a very pro style
09:08it's good to watch as well and it's difficult isn't it because you oh good right
09:13hands right on the end of that one it's difficult because you either need to take that space and be
09:31it was only going away i think yeah good stoppage definitely she she found her range she stepped
09:37in she'd made the little adjustments with her feet got that bit closer so just hitting the target
09:42scoring the point she was punching through the target and doing damage and uh i thought the referee
09:48called his spot on there yeah and it was interesting stacy that you said she's just come out with a
09:52little
09:53bit more on the shots a little bit more of a spring in her step i wonder if the corner
09:57had said to there
09:58said to her there just turn that screw a little bit now yeah she definitely definitely turned the
10:02heat up didn't she and went through the gears a little bit and as i was just saying so difficult
10:06with an opponent like that because you either have to be well out of range or right up on the
10:10chest
10:11getting there and getting out is easier said than done and yeah really really impressed with her i've
10:16been in with her before but seeing her live for the first time big future ahead yeah she's tall
10:21she's rangy but she was patient as well you know we haven't had a long debate about three minute
10:26rounds but she is certainly somebody i think smile wise that the three minute rounds will help her
10:32she she built into that there wasn't a rush job by any means no because it's not a flurry is
10:37it's
10:37not rushed work she did take her time chose those shots but that backhand is a real weapon for her
10:42yeah there was the first and she went down to the body and cuffing left hook and then that was
10:47on the
10:47chin that hurt her follow up the legs have gone and then the head rock back as well in real
10:52time
10:53felt very strongly that that was a good stoppage don't necessarily need to see someone go out for
10:58it to uh not to be too early but i think there yeah she sagged against the ropes didn't she
11:04fell back
11:04in against the ropes and then stepped on her quickly and the referee i thought saw that and jumped in
11:10at the
11:10right time yeah there's a shot there so that is a perfect replay which sort of just demonstrates
11:17the power in that shot she's really punching through the target but it's this one here the head's gone
11:22back again i don't think there's any complaints to be had there fight to safety first no issues there
11:34but what a win for elizabeth ashoba it confirmed
11:40ladies and gentlemen we have time of 42 seconds into the round number three
11:45when our reverie in charge bernard or yet stops the contest your winner by tko and now 10-0 elizabeth
11:56here's o'shova
12:04show but now 10-0 as a pro with a six knockout victory
