00:00The tourist and maniac who threw a large rock at an endangered Hawaiian monk seal was arrested
00:05by federal agents and hauled in front of a U.S. district court judge this week after a video of
00:10his heartless act went viral. 38-year-old Igor Miklovik Lutvunchuk from Washington State was
00:17walking along the beach in the town of Lahaina on the island of Naui last week when video shows him
00:22picking up a coconut-sized rock and hurling it at the seal, narrowly missing her head and scaring
00:29the living daylights out of her. When witnesses confronted him and said they called the cops,
00:35he reportedly said, quote, I don't care, find me, I'm rich. In another viral video, locals confronted
00:43Lutvunchuk and beat the heck out of him. The seal named Lani was already a bit of a local celebrity
00:49even before that incident. Naui's mayor wrote about her after word of Lutvunchuk's arrest spread, quote,
00:55Lani is a reminder that humanity and the instinct to protect what is vulnerable are still values
01:01people can unite around.
