00:00All right, some more updates coming in there.
00:01And we are now told that after Prime Minister Modi's pent-wise call,
00:05the Supreme Court has issued a circular for virtual hearing and work from home.
00:08Virtual hearings on Monday and Friday.
00:11For now, Supreme Court judges have set also a carpool for themselves.
00:16Court staff has been put on 50% work from home.
00:21So the Supreme Court now responding to that call and by the Prime Minister.
00:28Anisha Mathur, my colleague, joins us for more.
00:30Anisha, how will this work out?
00:31Well, do you remember on the 12th of May, the DOPT in fact issued a circular asking department heads across
00:38the government
00:39to try and ensure work from home for 50% of the people can work from home for up to
00:46two days.
00:47And that is exactly why the Supreme Court has now issued these guidelines.
00:51And it's not just for Mondays and Fridays.
00:53Any days where miscellaneous days, which are declared miscellaneous days of procedure in the Supreme Court,
00:59which means that all of the summer vacation that begins from the 1st of June will also be fully video
01:07conferencing.
01:08Mondays and Fridays, of course, as well as the next week, which is the last week of working before the
01:13summer vacations,
01:14will be fully video conferencing.
01:16Supreme Court trying its best to ensure that minimal lawyers come to the court premises.
01:21At the same time, 50% of the registry staff will be allowed to work from home for two days
01:28in the week.
01:29The registrar will in fact issue the calendar for the registry staff.
01:34And yet again, apart from the lawyers being asked to work from home, the judges will also be carpooling.
01:41And so a big step being taken by the Supreme Court to ensure that the call made by the Prime
01:46Minister to save fuel
01:48and the DOPT circular to ensure work from home is followed.
01:52All right. Supreme Court has done it.
01:54Will the other courts follow?
01:56Will the Delhi High Court, other high courts across the country, will they follow?
01:59That remains to be a question that we will be watching out for for the moment.
02:02Thanks, Anisha, for bringing us up to speed with that.
