00:00So, yesterday's Rangers game was something, man.
00:05That was awesome.
00:05We went from, oh, what a nice, sort of a little bit comfortable victory.
00:12Well, we've got Mr. Unhittable out there, and then all of a sudden, that doesn't work out.
00:18And you're like, son of a biscuit, we're going to lose this game, everything sucks.
00:23And then you didn't, so go ahead and give me cut number four.
00:27Or let's just cut right to the end, because the Rangers were victorious.
00:32Here's the set.
00:33And the pitch.
00:34A swing and a liner over third.
00:35It's a fair ball.
00:37Down the line.
00:38Here comes Osuna.
00:39He's in to score.
00:40Danny Jansen has won it for the Rangers.
00:43Six to five.
00:45The first Ranger walk-off win of the year.
00:48And Jansen is mobbed out at second base as the Rangers stream out of the dugout.
00:54It's pandemonium here at Globe Life Field.
00:57As the Rangers blew the lead in the top of the ninth and came back to win it with three
01:02in the bottom.
01:03I like to think the excitement that Eric Nadel just displayed right there comes from being
01:08on our show yesterday, late in the day.
01:10Facts!
01:11I think he had a fantastic time while he was in here yesterday.
01:14Eric Nadel, birthday benefit tonight.
01:16Yes.
01:17Get your tickets to that.
01:18And also make sure that you check out the site so that you can bid on some of those items.
01:23I had a conversation with my wife about that cruise last night.
01:25You've got to be there for some of the other items, like the dinner with Chris Young.
01:29At Nick and Sam's?
01:31Yeah, dude.
01:31They'll bring out flashlights to show you your steak.
01:34Okay.
01:34Ha ha!
01:34Quick question about that.
01:36Nick and Sam's is amazing.
01:37But here's one of the conversations we had.
01:39When they bring out the flashlights, does it ever feel like, you know, law and order,
01:43meat crimes?
01:45Show me your meat.
01:45Adrian said that it felt like she was in a comedy movie because, like, everybody's
01:49shuffling around and taking glasses and putting glasses down.
01:52And she's like, I don't know that I know exactly what's on the table right now.
01:56But yeah, I can see what you're saying about the meat crime.
01:59Like, yes, that steak done perfectly again.
02:02Yeah.
02:03It's the sirloins every single week.
02:05We've got to stop this.
02:07But anyways, so that's why you should win there.
02:09There's some consistency here.
02:11Yeah, and to talk to Chris Young and stuff.
02:13It was, this game last night.
02:15Walking through your, like, ebb of emotions, will you?
02:17It was, it was, we had a, we had an event for Carter.
02:21I'll talk a little bit about that during the C Block today.
02:23An orchestra event.
02:25And when I got home, the game had already started, but I got a chance to watch Kamar
02:29Rocker go through five innings, and I was very pleased with what he did.
02:34Four scoreless innings.
02:35Like, the way he maneuvered last night, he looked like a starting pitcher.
02:40Let's see some more of those.
02:41His mechanics were really good last night.
02:44He set them up for success.
02:45Then I navigated away when he got pulled, because I wanted to see, I needed to finish an episode
02:50of something, so I watched that real quick.
02:51Came back to the game, and saw that we were up, what, 3-1, 3-2.
02:56Right.
02:56And I'm thinking to myself, Lats is going in.
03:01And right as that was happening, I watched him warm up, and then after he got done warming
03:07up, his body language did not tell me he was the same as he typically is for these moments.
03:12That was just, maybe that's my read, but I ended up being right about this one, so, and
03:17I was very nervous, and then as things came along, I'm texting you guys, I'm like, this
03:20is why.
03:21We asked the question, Skip Schumacher did not want to go to Lats the night before.
03:27Right.
03:28He had to, because Gavin Collier was giving up the booty, and he was like, I can't let
03:32this 7-1 game slip away from us.
03:35We need a win here.
03:36He goes to him on back-to-back nights.
03:38This is the fourth time this season he's done that.
03:40I just didn't see something in Lats' body language that said he was going to have his
03:45stuff, and he did not.
03:47And then all of a sudden, the Rangers are down, and I was like, oh my gosh, I'm telling
03:51Adrian, because she wants to watch an episode of something else, I'm like, let me just get
03:55through this inning.
03:57Oh no.
03:58This inning's getting longer and longer.
03:59Yeah.
04:00But then, and it was after the Corey Seager moment, where Corey Seager, Kevin, did not know
04:07how many strikes he had last night.
04:10Is that why he struck out so many times?
04:12He stood at the plate after he struck out and got back in the box, and the umpire said,
04:18hey, you're out.
04:20And he just kind of walked back, and that's when Dave Raymond and David Murphy were kind
04:25of having the discussion we were having yesterday, is Skip did say that it sounds like he's going
04:30to have a day off soon.
04:31This might be a good opportunity.
04:33The day off is going to be tomorrow.
04:36Yeah.
04:36And what Skip told us yesterday was, look, I'm going to give Corey every opportunity
04:41I can, and Corey's going to say, hey, I feel good about this guy.
04:46He wants to be able to find that confidence, but every pitcher that he's almost facing is
04:52like, oh, I've had pretty good success against this guy.
04:55Right.
04:55So you want to keep giving that guy every chance, but every once in a while you've got
04:58to be like, go figure it out, dude.
05:00Go figure it out somewhere.
05:02And last night in that moment was just not his best moment, and that game was not his
05:07best either.
05:08However, Josh Young gets up, gets on base.
05:11A little dink fart right through the infield.
05:13A walk here, a hit there.
05:15Ezekiel Duran with the smash that sets things up.
05:20Kevin.
05:20Do you want me to play that?
05:21Absolutely.
05:22This is an awesome hit.
05:23Give me cut number two, because this is the smashing question.
05:283-2.
05:29The payoff pitch.
05:31Swung on and hit deep to left, hooking in the corner.
05:34That ball is off the wall.
05:36It bounds away from the left fielder, Walshmit.
05:39Duran at second base with a double.
05:41Josh Young scores.
05:42The lead is cut to 5-4.
05:45And Alejandro Osuna is coming up.
05:48And that hit that he had, Kevin, he worked seawall there, too.
05:52He did some really good work to, he was already at 3-0.
05:57And then he took the, you know, the fastball down the middle, and then he worked that out
06:01and finally found the pitch.
06:03And seawall had thrown a pitch that he didn't like.
06:07It was a little in.
06:09The next pitch is the same one.
06:10He crushes it and gets on base.
06:13Great job, because I think that ignited a little spark in those guys.
06:15They're like, oh, we got to do is do some work and we can win this game.
06:19Right.
06:19And we've seen them.
06:20This is what got me last night, Kevin.
06:21I've seen them so many times come back late.
06:25I was like, this is the one.
06:26This is going to be the one.
06:28And ultimately, Jake Berger gets one through.
06:31He's on.
06:32As soon as I saw Osuna at second base, I was like, all we need is get one through the
06:36infield.
06:36Yeah, he's fast.
06:37And Danny Jansen did just that.
06:39And the Rangers end up getting the win.
06:40It was an awesome moment last night.
06:42They needed that.
06:43And I hope that they continue that kind of late-game success with the early-game success as well
06:48that puts them in better position for wins.
06:49So I've seen a couple of complaints about this.
06:52I have to admit, I wasn't watching for him the postgame, but I'll go back and check it
06:56out from the 8-0-6.
06:57Love Seager, but I'm getting really tired of his S body language, and it's affecting his
07:02defense now.
07:03And then from the 2-3-9.
07:05Where is that?
07:05It also didn't look like Seager celebrated the hit with the team on the field.
07:10I will admit, I didn't look for that because I was too stoked, but I do believe that one
07:17Bobby Belt might feel that way as well.
07:20And that's not what you want, because then you start to think about a Lance Berkman situation
07:24where, hey, I need you to be happy for the team, even if you're not thriving in that moment.
07:30But, Corey, you talked about it.
07:33I was already thinking that we were going to construct the segment of, did Gavin Collier's
07:40inability to close it out on Tuesday night cost you the win on Wednesday night?
07:44And I looked up the numbers that you said.
07:47It was the third or kind of fourth time Latzes pitched on back-to-back nights, like you said,
07:54because it was April 4th and 5th.
07:55And then he did the 15th, the 16th, and the 17th.
07:58So if you want to count those as two separate, which I think is legitimate, and so he had
08:03not been in that situation a lot.
08:05And so I thought about what you were saying about the night before, and I was like, ooh,
08:10this is going to be the focus of the segment.
08:11And that freaking sucks.
08:13Hey, nice job by Quantrill to come in and get out of that inning with less damage.
08:17Because at the time, man, that is a great point.
08:20In the moment, it's one of those things where you're like, hey, good job, who cares?
08:25We're going to lose the game, right?
08:26Like, I don't know if anybody else felt that way, but in the moment, I was like, I was
08:30glad that Quantrill shut it down, and it was only 5-3.
08:34But I was also like, who cares?
08:35We're going to lose now a game.
08:36We were definitely going to win.
08:38And then I honestly got mad when it was 5-4 off of that Duran play, because I was like,
08:43why are the Rangers doing this to me?
08:44They're just like picking you up to drop you again.
08:48But they won!
08:49There was something about me that was kind of in that space, but also going, I like who's
08:53up right now.
08:54Because Berger had already had an opportunity earlier in the night.
08:58He had the home run that gave us the lead and put us in that good spot.
09:03But it was, Kevin, it was the Peterson-Nemo-Sieger group that went 0-12 last night.
09:08And I wanted to go bleh in just a little bit.
09:11But then I was like, I like who's coming up to bat right now.
09:15I think they have a shot to do this thing.
09:17And Kevin, we've discussed, if 1-4 aren't doing the work, which 4-4 did his work last
09:23night, congratulations, Josh Young, continuing to roll.
09:25But if 2-3-4 or 1-4 aren't doing theirs, somebody's got to pick it up.
09:30We just can't rely on those guys for the rest of the season.
09:33We need Seager to go, you know, if you need to go to a hot tub for a while and
09:37just chill.
09:38Go to the World, what is it, the World Star?
09:41No, the World Pools up there in Frisco.
09:43Go World Springs.
09:44Yeah, go up there and hang out for a day.
09:46Just chill.
09:48Just get your head back in the game.
09:50I thought you were about to punch somebody 15 years ago for just a second.
09:55By the way, we talked about how unforgiving being a relief pitcher can be.
09:59Jake Latt's going into that game 0.83 ERA.
10:03It's now up to 2.08.
10:05And his whip went from 0.42 to 0.6, which is still insane.
10:10And they got the win.
10:11And I think the happiest person in that group might have been Jacob Latt.
10:14He's like, thank you so much for not making this look terrible for me.
10:18It was.
10:18I will add this.
10:20You know, I loved hearing McKenzie Gore tell Skip the other day, hey, I can pitch today if
10:25you need me.
10:25When Evaldi had to take a day.
10:27I know that these guys are competitive and want to play.
10:30The fact that they ended the game the way they did last night, that proves it too.
10:34Getting that top group to get back into not just being competitive minded, but also being
10:40as skilled as they actually are, that's going to have to come along pretty soon.
10:44We're the KNC Masterpiece right here on 105 Through the Family.
