00:00You guys had to make a decision when it came to finding another starter,
00:06and you went with Ben Brown.
00:08And obviously, he goes again tonight.
00:10He was excellent in his first start of the year.
00:17Explain the decision as to why Ben, and as you're watching him,
00:22he seems like he's really coming into his own.
00:26Yeah, well, Ben, you know, it's always a difficult decision
00:31when you're taking a guy out of a role where he's had success so far this year.
00:37But you do that because we knew we had a pretty big window here with Ben,
00:43just with Matt's injury,
00:45and knowing that there was going to be more than just one or two starts.
00:51It was going to be a little bit longer look.
00:54And Ben is probably the best version of himself that we have seen since he's been here,
01:01you know, with the addition of the sinker, feeling more comfortable to change up.
01:05He was in a great spot.
01:06So it just felt like it was the right opportunity to do it.
01:09Now, like, any time you're stretching a guy out like this,
01:13I know he had been stretched out in spring training,
01:15but we have to be very diligent because he was going, you know,
01:20tuning high-intense stretches.
01:22He was doing, like, a pitch-off pitch.
01:25All those things are important to factor into when you're stretching a guy out.
01:29So, you know, getting him to that 50-pitch mark that first game,
01:35getting through those four innings,
01:36I thought was really important for him to feel those four ups.
01:40And, you know, he's a guy who's got electric stuff,
01:44and he can beat some of the best hitters in the game in the strike zone.
01:47And when you have that as a starter, it really opens things up
01:52to what you can do, you know, throughout the game.
