Jon, Jim and Heather debate on whether or not you can do this in the pool?
Transcript
00:00I take a break from dwelling on last night's basketball game to get advice
00:04from John Jansen.
00:06All right.
00:06Dear John Jansen at gmail.com proposal.
00:09My neighbor,
00:10the pool.
00:10We start with the proposal.
00:12Dear John,
00:13I need help finding a local proposal spot in the area.
00:17Looking Rochester,
00:18Birmingham,
00:18Bloomfield,
00:19et cetera.
00:20She prefers a private spot,
00:21but I can't find a specific place.
00:23I've thought about Cranbrook.
00:25Others doesn't have to be outside,
00:28but the timing is a summer or early fall.
00:31She's also really good at sniffing stuff out.
00:34So I'll make me more important question.
00:35How do I ensure she has no idea what's going on before the proposal?
00:38Thanks.
00:40So you want a private spot?
00:42Did they say private spot?
00:43Yeah.
00:44That makes it a little bit more difficult.
00:46You're going to have to,
00:46if you want a private spot,
00:47you're going to have to go somewhere outside.
00:48I think it means that she doesn't want to be proposed to at like a tiger's game,
00:52like more of,
00:52okay.
00:53There could maybe be other people,
00:54maybe around,
00:55but if you want to,
00:56if you want to try and cover it up,
00:58like,
00:58do you have friends that are couples that you would normally go out to dinner
01:04with,
01:04go to a,
01:05there's a lot of really great breweries.
01:08And so I'm just going to say,
01:09okay,
01:09Oakland County,
01:10right?
01:11That's kind of the area that he's talking about.
01:13Find yourself a great brewery and go to dinner or go out to drinks with you
01:20and some friends and make the proposal there.
01:25At the restaurant brewery.
01:27I don't know.
01:28She doesn't like that's too public.
01:30I think for her,
01:31if she says she wants private,
01:32it could be fine.
01:34He has to,
01:35right.
01:35But if it's,
01:37if it's not like Heather said,
01:38if it's not at a sporting event or like a mass event where,
01:43you know,
01:43like the whole section is going to be cheering you on,
01:46or there's going to be pressure.
01:48There's different levels of private.
01:50Yeah.
01:50I kind of like his idea.
01:53Stepping off of Cranbrook.
01:54I mean,
01:55Meadowbrook is one of my favorite places.
01:57It's where I got married.
01:58It could be cool to go do a tour of the house.
02:01Like that's how you could sell it.
02:02Like,
02:02Hey,
02:02this was really cool.
02:03We go do this tour and then you could go walk the gardens.
02:06While there might be people around you,
02:10you wouldn't be the focus.
02:12Right.
02:12Just go off hours or slower time of day.
02:14Sure.
02:15I mean,
02:15I mean,
02:16they do big holiday things.
02:18Avoid that.
02:18But yeah,
02:19I love Meadowbrook.
02:21That's my suggestion.
02:21I'll give you a couple of options downtown.
02:24The Detroit Riverfront.
02:26Sure.
02:26Which I think would be awesome.
02:28Agreed.
02:30You could do,
02:31but some of it depends on like,
02:32would you not normally go to some of these places?
02:35And then all of a sudden you're like,
02:36Hey,
02:37let's go down and walk the riverfront.
02:39And then all of a sudden she's going to know something's up.
02:41Like,
02:41um,
02:43the Detroit Institute of Art.
02:45Go to the DIA.
02:46Sure.
02:46And Hey,
02:47you're walking around,
02:48you're looking at whatever they got hanging on the walls.
02:50And then you propose and maybe she's got something that she's into in terms of the,
02:56the art.
02:57Maybe you do it there.
02:58Let me tell you,
02:59even if she has an idea that it's going to happen,
03:01it's not going to make it any less special.
03:03I knew that Colin was going to propose.
03:07I mean,
03:07in most likely you guys have kind of been hinting about it.
03:10She might've kind of talked to you about the ring she wants or.
03:13Oh,
03:13sure.
03:13She knows it's going to be happening.
03:16And I didn't know like exactly how it was going to happen or where,
03:19but I did have suspicions that it was most likely going to happen when it did.
03:23And it did not make it any less special.
03:26It was still amazing.
03:27So even if she has an idea that it's going to happen,
03:29it's going to be great.
03:32All right.
03:32The next one,
03:33my neighbor,
03:34dear John,
03:34I was mowing my lawn last weekend.
03:36And because I thought my neighbor was out of town,
03:38there was no cars in the driveway and the lawn was getting kind of gnarly.
03:42I did both lawns.
03:44So it's my me time.
03:47It's kind of when I put on my music zone out.
03:49Anyway,
03:49the next day he knocks on my door upset because he claims he wanted to do no,
03:54mow may and also you don't mow another man's lawn.
03:58Did I screw up?
04:00No,
04:01you didn't screw up.
04:02You were doing something nice and just explain,
04:06Hey,
04:06I thought you were gone.
04:07I didn't see any lights on in the house.
04:09Your car wasn't in the driveway.
04:10I was doing it.
04:11So I thought,
04:12Hey,
04:12I would do something nice for my neighbor.
04:14I won't do it again.
04:16And you can start your no mow may now.
04:20And,
04:20and,
04:20and like just restart the clock.
04:22It also doesn't have to be may.
04:24It could be June.
04:25It could,
04:25if you want to make your yard look like crap,
04:30then you could start that at any time of the year.
04:32The whole no mow may thing is absolutely absurd and dumb,
04:36but the bees,
04:38but the bees,
04:38yeah,
04:39the pollinators being serious,
04:40but I'm just saying,
04:41I do think it's kind of strange.
04:43I would be kind of taken aback if somebody just mowed my lawn without telling me.
04:49I wouldn't say it's a bad thing,
04:50but I would think it's a little strange.
04:52Oh,
04:53I would pull in and be like,
04:55did,
04:55did,
04:55did my kids actually do something?
04:59Um,
05:00like we were gone this weekend and I told Jack,
05:01I'm like,
05:01Hey,
05:02if you want to play baseball this week,
05:03you're going to mow the lawn this weekend.
05:05And he did.
05:05But if I had come home and,
05:07and you know,
05:08I wasn't gone for the week and somebody had mowed my yard.
05:10Hey,
05:11I'd be giving high fives.
05:12Thank you very much.
05:13I'd make cookies.
05:14I was just going to say that's it for the neighbor.
05:16That's how you show appreciation.
05:17Someone else wants to do your yard work for you.
05:19I think you just simply explain,
05:21Hey,
05:21I thought you were gone.
05:22I won't do it again.
05:24But the whole,
05:25you never know,
05:26mow another man's yard.
05:28Like,
05:28come on,
05:28get over yourself.
05:30No,
05:31Bo may.
05:32It's probably one of the newest or worst new things in life.
05:38You mow the lawn.
05:40It's like,
05:40I think grass may grow faster in May than any other month.
05:45Right.
05:45Yeah.
05:45April showers.
05:46The bees have always been okay.
05:47Right.
05:48And if you,
05:49if you want to,
05:50you know,
05:50if you're worried about the pollinators plant some flowers,
05:54they got something to pollinate all summer long.
05:57It sounds like we're all on the same page with this no mow may.
06:00Like I see some lawns and Royal Oak and I'm like,
06:02it just looks lousy.
06:04Yeah.
06:04I'm sorry.
06:05Like your one plot of grass isn't saving the bees.
06:08Make your,
06:08make your house look nice.
06:10Yes.
06:10But Hey,
06:11you're not as a neighbor.
06:12You're not doing your,
06:14you're not socially conscious.
06:16Do you know anybody that participates in this?
06:20Not that I know of.
06:21Not that I call a friend.
06:23Next week.
06:24It's dear Tom.
06:27Last one is the pool.
06:28Dear John,
06:29where do you stand on peeing in the pool?
06:32My girlfriend gets grossed out when I do it,
06:34but I told her everybody does.
06:36She immediately will leave the pool and won't even look at me.
06:39She tells me to grow up,
06:40but she's the one that needs to grow up and accept that.
06:43This is just what happens.
06:44Right?
06:44Okay.
06:45So first question I have,
06:48how does she know you're peeing in the pool?
06:51Is she looking at your crotch the entire time that you're swimming?
06:54Or is he making it like a scene or?
06:56Yeah.
06:57Or are you telling her,
06:58Oh,
06:58I just peed in the pool.
06:59Keep it to yourself.
07:00She just feels that warm spot,
07:01John.
07:02Oh,
07:03you keep it to yourself.
07:05It's gross.
07:05Don't pee in the pool.
07:07You're an adult.
07:08Get out and go potty.
07:09No,
07:09that was my first.
07:10What?
07:11You pee in the pool?
07:12Absolutely.
07:13No,
07:13I don't pee in the pool.
07:14You are lazy.
07:15It is lazy.
07:16Get your ass out of the pool.
07:17It is lazy.
07:18And go to the bathroom.
07:18Yes.
07:19If you think,
07:20Hey,
07:20I'm going to put,
07:20I'm going to put my body in some warm water.
07:22I might have to pee.
07:23Then go pee before you get in the pool.
07:26You're not four years old.
07:28Even my four year old gets out of the pool.
07:30So does Brooks.
07:31When we went to Florida,
07:32I took them back and forth to that bathroom so many times.
07:36You know what?
07:36It's a great point because we'll be in the middle of a swimming lesson for Teddy and he'll come up.
07:40I'll be like,
07:40dude,
07:41what is,
07:41what's your problem?
07:42I got to go pee.
07:43I got to go potty.
07:44Yeah.
07:44Okay.
07:44Hey,
07:44let's go to the bathroom.
07:45All right.
07:46You don't pee in the pool.
07:47No.
07:47What are you talking about?
07:50I'm talking about the pool and peeing in it and that you don't do it.
07:53Everybody does.
07:54No,
07:55they don't.
07:55Oh boy.
07:57You do it as a kid.
07:59It's everyone has peed in a pool.
08:01When you're in a pool.
08:02Yeah.
08:02When you're eight years old and you're,
08:04you're,
08:05you're sitting there,
08:05you're peeing in the pool and you're like,
08:06I want,
08:07I want my buddy to,
08:08to swim by.
08:10And,
08:10and then I'm going to tell him that I just peed where he swam.
08:13It's that warm spot.
08:14Yeah.
08:15Hey,
08:16that's when you do it.
08:17Not as an adult.
08:18No.
08:19I mean,
08:19if you're in a lake,
08:20go ahead.
08:21Yes,
08:21exactly.
08:22I was going to ask you in a lake.
08:23It's fine.
08:24Yeah.
08:24Hell,
08:25you don't have to be swimming.
08:25Just go over the side of the boat.
08:30All right.
08:30I guess we're giving this guy very different advice then.
08:33Do you pee in the pool on your swing,
08:34swinger cruises?
08:36It's a turn on.
08:37Oh no.
08:42How do you know you're available?
08:44Well,
08:44he peed in the pool.
08:45It's dear John,
08:4697.1.
