00:03Currently, transformation not seen in a century is accelerating across the globe,
00:08and the international situation is fluid and turbulent.
00:12The world has come to a new crossroads.
00:15Can China and the United States overcome the Thucydides trap
00:21and create a new paradigm of major country relations?
00:28Can we meet global challenges together and provide more stability for the world?
00:38Can we, in the interest of the well-being of our two peoples and the future of humanity,
00:43build a brighter future together for our bilateral relations?
00:49These are the questions vital to history, to the world, and to the people.
00:56They are the questions of our times that you and I need to answer as leaders of major countries.
01:03This year is the 250th anniversary of American independence.
01:11Congratulations to you and to the American people.
01:16I always believe that our two countries have more common interests than differences.
01:25Success in one is an opportunity for the other, and a stable bilateral relationship is good for the world.
01:35China and the United States both stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation.
01:41We should be partners, not rivals.
01:43We should help each other succeed and prosper together
01:46and find the right way for major countries to get along well with each other in the new era.
01:52You and I have known each other now for a long time.
01:55In fact, the longest relationship of our two countries that any president and president has had.
02:03And that's to me an honor.
02:05We've had a fantastic relationship.
02:07We've gotten along.
02:09When there were difficulties, we worked it out.
02:11I would call you and you would call me.
02:13And whenever we had a problem, people don't know.
02:16Whenever we had a problem, we worked it out very quickly.
02:19And we're going to have a fantastic future together.
02:24Such respect for China, the job you've done.
02:27You're a great leader.
02:28I say it to everybody.
02:29You're a great leader.
02:31Sometimes people don't like me saying it, but I say it anyway because it's true.
02:35I only say the truth.
02:36And I just want to say on behalf of all of the great delegation that we have,
02:41we have the greatest businessmen, the biggest, and I guess the best in the world.
02:46We have amazing people, and they're all with me.
02:48They β€” every single one of them.
02:50We asked the top 30 in the world.
02:53Every single one of them said yes.
02:56And I didn't want the second or the third in the company.
02:58I wanted only the top.
03:00And they're here today to pay respects to you and to China.
03:04And they look forward to trade and doing business.
03:07And it's going to be totally reciprocal on our behalf.
03:11So I really look very much forward to our discussion.
03:13It's a big discussion.
03:15There are those that say this is maybe the biggest summit ever.
03:18They can never remember anything like it.
03:20It's β€” I can say in the United States, it's β€” people aren't talking about anything else.
03:25So, I would say I master...
03:25Guyub one on page, right now.
03:25Guyub one.
03:26Daddyub one for dinner tonight,
