Vahid Reza Adib, the partner of former Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, has had his matter mentioned in court, for the first time since being charged with three counts of rape. The 64-year-old Brisbane-based surgeon was charged earlier this month after voluntarily attending a gold coast police station.

00:01It was a very brief mention here at Southport Magistrates Court this morning and one that
00:07Dr Adib wasn't actually here for. He was represented by his lawyer Dan Rogers who
00:12requested that the case be adjourned. As you mentioned Dr Adib has been on bail since he
00:18was charged on May 1st. On that day he was charged with three counts of rape, two counts
00:24of deprivation of liberty and one count of sexual assault. What we heard in court today is that
00:30Dr Adib is actually facing six charges. What that sixth charge is we don't yet know because the
00:36charges weren't actually read out in court. We are following up right now with the court registry to
00:41understand more about what that charge is and Dan Rogers, Dr Adib's lawyer, as I said requested
00:49an adjournment. The matter will return here to Southport Magistrates Court in early July.
00:56It's important to note that the former Queensland Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk is not, well there's
01:02no suggestion of any wrongdoing or involvement on her behalf but what police will allege is that
01:08Dr Adib committed these offences against a woman in her 30s at his luxury Burleyheads apartment
01:16on March the 30th. More details are sure to come out as this case proceeds through the court systems
01:23here in Queensland.
