00:01Dr Reza Adib presented himself here to the Southport Police Station a little earlier today
00:07and was later charged with three counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and two counts of deprivation of
00:14liberty.
00:14It's in relation to a search warrant that police executed yesterday at a Gold Coast luxury apartment owned by Dr
00:22Adib
00:22and that's in relation to an alleged sexual assault of a woman in her 30s in March at a Gold
00:29Coast residence.
00:30Now, police said in a statement that a crime scene has been established and that investigations are ongoing.
00:37Dr Adib has been in a relationship with the former Queensland Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk since 2021.
00:43Ms Palaszczuk is currently promoting her new memoir, The Politics of Being Me,
00:47including at an event at a Gold Coast library last night where she fielded questions from the audience.
00:55Now, Ms Palaszczuk is not accused of any involvement or wrongdoing.
00:59Dr Adib was granted bail a little earlier today and has since left the Southport Police Station.
01:05He is due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on the 14th of May.
