00:00Well, it's being considered as a swift response from the state government.
00:06As of July 1st this year, 150 of the state's worst domestic violence offenders will be
00:12monitored around the clock in order to protect victims.
00:16And what that will look like is they will be required to be fitted with GPS tracking
00:20devices to ensure they don't breach court orders.
00:24As part of these reforms, there will also be a new panel that will be established to
00:28advise on this policy, as well as improvements to phone services for DV Connect.
00:33It's something that the Minister for Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence, Amanda Cam,
00:38has said is necessary.
00:40She's also made the announcement less than a day after a man was charged with the attempted
00:44murder of a 34-year-old woman after he allegedly set her alight in a domestic violence incident
00:50in Brisbane South over the weekend.
00:53When paramedics arrived, she was treated for life-threatening burns to her body and
00:58was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, where we've been told she remains in a stable
01:03condition.
01:04But certainly, this is an incident that's not only rocked the community locally, but
01:08also at a state level.
01:09Now, the 36-year-old man is expected to appear before Benley Magistrates Court to face those
01:14charges a little bit later today.
