The K&C Masterpiece shared their wishes for the Cowboys' 2026 schedule as we wait for the league's official schedule release tomorrow night. They discussed the advantage of a mid-season bye, the strategic benefit of playing in domes during December, the potential impact of an international matchup in Brazil, and more.
Transcript
00:00What do you wish for the 2026 Dallas Cowboys schedule?
00:06Super Bowl.
00:07I like it.
00:08That it extends.
00:09But I mean more specifically for the construction of the schedule,
00:14because Joe Burrow already got one of his wishes to come true.
00:19He, do you remember, I think it started a couple of years ago,
00:23and he was like,
00:25Bengals versus the Dolphins in Madrid?
00:28Question mark?
00:28Please be true.
00:30It was not.
00:32So the Dolphins ended up playing Washington in Spain.
00:36And somebody asked him after the schedule came out,
00:39maybe we could get an international game next year.
00:42So, of course, as I just said, week nine, Bengals-Falcons in Spain.
00:49So not only did Joe Burrow get his international game,
00:53he got it in the place he had first mentioned.
00:56And one of the people associated with the league said,
01:00it is very unusual that they get players requesting international games.
01:05And it kind of sounds like they did go out of their way to make sure Joe Burrow got what
01:11he wanted.
01:11Because he's into fashion, and I feel like there's some fashion show going on.
01:15You know, Spain's an area for stuff like that, too.
01:18You know, Spain has lots of cool stuff going on.
01:20But I do wonder, will more players start suggesting or requesting or posting stuff like this now?
01:29Well, because of that, I have decided to construct some things I would like for the Cowboys' schedule.
01:37Hopefully it's not too late.
01:38Maybe we can make a few changes.
01:40I wish the Cowboys would play a game in Brazil.
01:44Well, Corey, I have great news for you.
01:46Wait until you hear it.
01:48Here are their home opponents upcoming in this season.
01:51The Eagles, Commanders, Giants, Jags, Titans, Cardinals, 49ers, and Buccaneers, and the Ravens in Brazil.
02:02Look at that.
02:04This is Brazil.
02:05This is Brazil.
02:05This is going to become so annoying.
02:07No, it won't.
02:08You win.
02:08Just wait for that week, dude.
02:10So, man.
02:12This is going to be so much more.
02:13This is going to be worse than Angel Reese week.
02:14So, their road games will be against, of course, you probably guessed the first three, Eagles, Commanders, Giants, and then
02:21the Packers, Texans, Colts, Seahawks, and Rams.
02:25Are there any particular wishes that come to mind for y'all for the schedule?
02:30Because I have two very specific ones.
02:32I would like to hear yours.
02:33All right.
02:34I would like a week 9 or 10 bye and more home than road games from December until the end
02:45of the season.
02:46Why is that?
02:47I've done a study.
02:49And it's partial.
02:50I get part of the reason is you get that Sunday, usually.
02:54You get that Sunday home game, and then you have the Thanksgiving home game.
02:58So, you've got those two home games back to back.
03:00Maybe your schedule doesn't necessarily lend itself to getting a whole lot of home games down the stretch.
03:05But that back half of the schedule, like getting six home games in two months would be amazing.
03:11And so, I would like that to happen because I did an analysis of their schedule from the last five
03:16years.
03:182025, so just this last season, three of their five games from December on were road games.
03:26Because, you know, people like to say, like, oh, the end of that schedule for the Cowboys looks really brutal.
03:31Maybe, or maybe it's just you're playing more road games.
03:34The only time it played for your advantage was 2024, where three of your final five games from December on
03:43were at home.
03:43But the problem with that, you had a week 7 bye.
03:47So, your bye was way too early.
03:49And then look at the three before that.
03:522023, three of your final four games were on the road.
03:562022, three of your final four games were on the road.
04:002021, four of your final six games were on the road from December on.
04:06So, I get it.
04:07The opponent matters, obviously.
04:09But you look at that stack, and more often than not, you're finishing with a road-heavy slate.
04:15And so, I would like the Cowboys to avoid that A.
04:18And then B, I would like them to have a week 9 or 10 bye, which would be in the
04:25exact middle of the season.
04:26I know now with 17 games, it's hard to precisely hit it in the middle.
04:31But you've had multiple three different times in the last five years.
04:34You've had a week 7 bye.
04:36Oh, great.
04:37So, I played six games.
04:38Hopefully, this can help me out.
04:40And then you have 11 straight weeks of football that you have to get through.
04:43Whereas, a week 9 or 10 bye, then you've either played eight or nine of your games and have eight
04:48or nine of your games remaining.
04:49I would like that exactly in the middle.
04:52So, I want to avoid the earlier bye, and I would like to avoid a road onslaught from December on.
04:58Love it, Kevin.
04:59I absolutely love it.
05:00But I'm going to tell you right now.
05:01No!
05:02You can only get one of those.
05:04So close.
05:04Ooh.
05:05Do you want the late bye or the home swing?
05:11Then I think I would take the home swing.
05:17Take the late bye.
05:19Here's why.
05:20Ooh.
05:20Okay.
05:21You're going to have to go on the road a little bit, Kevin, in December.
05:26Maybe three of the four games you're going to be on the road.
05:29But you got the late bye.
05:30I do like that.
05:31But, my wish then, you will be playing against Houston, Indianapolis, and the Rams in those three games.
05:40Okay.
05:41And why is that better than playing against the Eagles, Commanders, Giants, Packers, or Seahawks?
05:48Do you think the Rams will be worn down by that?
05:51They're an older team?
05:52Houston has a dome.
05:54In Texas.
05:56Indianapolis has a dome.
05:58Right, right, right.
05:59And the Los Angeles Rams play in a stadium that is an open roof or open concept.
06:06It's a dome!
06:08With beautiful weather.
06:09Or retractable roof.
06:10So you don't have to go to Green Bay in December.
06:13Okay.
06:14That's my wish is that you don't have to go up to these cold places in December and deal with
06:20all that stress that comes along with it.
06:22Because you're not going to play in the cold weather like that in the Super Bowl anyway.
06:25So let's not deal with it at all.
06:27So, Kevin, you get one.
06:30I'm suggesting you take the Week 10 situation so that your road opponents are all in domes or nice weather.
06:37So, and I did double check in 2024 when you got three of the final five as home games, you
06:42went two and three.
06:44Now, you were also seven and ten that season.
06:46So maybe that was just an indication that you're just a garbage football team and not necessarily home games.
06:51Sometimes it is, yeah.
06:52Sometimes that's the case and you just kind of have to admit it.
06:54All right.
06:54So this is interesting.
06:56And then, Alec, I'm going to kick it over to you.
06:58From the 6-0-1, more home games at the beginning of the season because the temperature is nice for
07:03tailgating.
07:04Oh, I like y'all.
07:05See, I don't agree with that.
07:07I think we're all forgetting around September 8th.
07:11It could still be whipping your ass with 101, like at least by October.
07:17I would think, but I get it.
07:19Like, Texas, if you told me, hey, what's the temperature going to be on November the 18th, I think there's
07:25an evenly decent chance it's 95 or 41.
07:29Like, I really, I'm really not sure.
07:31So I would think maybe you'd want a few more road games in that September spot to, just for tailgating,
07:38not for competitive purposes.
07:39So if we're going to go on the road in September, we would probably want to go on the road
07:43to a Philly.
07:45Okay.
07:46Perhaps a Seattle?
07:47A Seattle.
07:49San Francisco?
07:50I say you want to do one of them.
07:52That's a home game.
07:53I'm sorry.
07:54Yeah, you're right about that.
07:54My apologies.
07:57But for tailgating purposes.
07:59Yes.
07:59Home game, Kevin.
08:00Tailgating purposes, you want the San Francisco game.
08:05Because you hate the 49ers.
08:06Exactly.
08:07I do want to say this, though.
08:08When it comes to that, and Alec, I'm sorry if I'm going to step on yours here.
08:12You want San Francisco, in my opinion, either very early in the season or after week 10 when you get
08:22your bye.
08:23Yeah.
08:24Because that's going to be a physical game.
08:26So maybe you want it right before the bye.
08:28But I don't want it right before the bye because I've already been beaten up if I'm at week 10
08:33at this point.
08:33So I want it early and then lick the wounds and move on.
08:37Or get it in week 11, week 12, whenever my body has gotten the opportunity to recover a little more
08:44again.
08:44And it could be fortuitous because, unfortunately for them, San Francisco does seem to run into a lot of injuries.
08:51Yeah.
08:52Potentially sometimes with their quarterback as well.
08:55All right, Alec, we kick it over to you.
08:58Do you have a particular wish for the 2026 Dallas Cowboys schedule?
09:03I'm never super particular about the schedule.
09:06I'm always just play the games and play good.
09:09But I always hate the early bye week.
09:12So give me a late bye week.
09:14I know one thing that sucks is we don't know when the trade deadline is quite yet.
09:18Right.
09:19So I always like having the bye week that is post-trade deadline.
09:23Because you have more data points to make that determination.
09:27Exactly.
09:27So I like that and just getting new players acclimated quicker.
09:31I kind of like how that fell in place with Quinn and Williams last year.
09:35I thought that was probably good for him.
09:38And he would probably say the same thing to have that extra week to be like, okay, let me sit
09:42down and learn a little bit.
09:43But other than that, I don't want many runs of sub-500 teams consecutively.
09:51Because I hate that we got that false hope after the deadline or after the bye week last season where
09:57you had that run of, what, three games?
09:59Where you're like, holy crap, we might be good.
10:01Which you tried to say.
10:03Just watch out.
10:04Exactly.
10:05So I don't want that.
10:05I want more staggered opponents.
10:07I would like to kind of be like, okay, you're going to have, let's just say, the Titans at home.
10:13And then next week, well, guess what?
10:15You're going to Philly on the road.
10:16You know, like I want it to be a little bit more like that.
10:19Then how about we give you Titans, Colts, Giants, you know, in a three-game span.
10:27Where it's like, you could end up winning those three games by a combined 64 points.
10:32Yeah.
10:32You know, and then you're like, dude, we did it.
10:35We fixed the defense overnight.
10:37We're averaging 35 points a game on offense.
10:41Everything is perfect.
10:42And then you go, like Corey said, to the 49ers and you're like, oh, we forgot we're not super physical
10:49and we got punched in the mouth and you got beat by Brock Purdy again.
10:54You know, like I don't want that to happen.
10:57So give me a little bit of staggering in terms of the above and sub 500 teams and I'm happy.
11:03From the 682, more noon games.
11:06That is a fascinating request.
11:08We'll do our best.
11:09I think that request is going to fail just because of the nature of TV wanting these dominant windows for
11:16the Cowboys.
11:17But I like that request.
11:18And then from the 682.
11:19Because you like noon games too?
11:21I do like noon games as well.
11:23Because if you have won the noon game, now you can just sit back and put your feet up and
11:29be like, awesome.
11:30If you lost, you can be like, don't care anymore for the rest of the day.
11:33This is going to be my...
11:34You can move on with your life.
11:35This is my nerdlinger way of saying that is it gives me more time to show prep what actually matters.
11:41Because I can do as much...
11:42We can all do as much pre-show prep as you want.
11:45But if the Cowboys have the 720 game, you're like, I don't know if any of that is going to
11:50be relevant at all.
11:51I'm going to use most of this for Tuesday probably.
11:54I do ask you this question too though.
11:56How much time after do you need if a loss happens?
12:00It depends on some of the variables.
12:03That makes sense.
12:04But I feel like it's going to be a minute, right?
12:06It's probably 45 minutes to an hour and a half for me.
12:09Yeah.
12:09And if they win, I'm like, let's go.
12:11Let's get this thing started.
12:12How many stories do I have that are Cowboys the first three segments?
12:15I could see that.
12:17And then from the 682.
12:19Why would American fans be happy with international games?
12:21It takes away from the fans that built this league.
12:24So, I think that the NFL's counterpoint would be, we've already got them.
12:30Now we need to build new fans.
12:31Like J.J. Watt, who usually I like.
12:34He sent out a really stupid tweet today.
12:37International game slate is nearing the realm of traveling circus as opposed to occasional showcase.
12:43Good one, J.J.
12:45First of all, I don't really think they added that many international games.
12:49Would they add two more than usual?
12:50And this has been building up for more than a decade with the NFL already having open conversations about every
12:57team having to play one international game per year every single season.
13:02So, I know, zing, gotcha, NFL.
13:06But this has been building for a while with the exact idea being we've already got these fans.
13:11Now let's make football a dominant thing in Europe.
13:16Like, I'm not saying it's going to overthrow the English Premier League or anything like that.
13:19But, like, you want to make it a happening in all these other places, even close to what it's like
13:25in North America.
13:27So, I understand that person's concerned.
13:29But the NFL has moved beyond us as fans.
13:31And they're looking for other things.
13:33There's always a resistance of what was.
13:35Sure.
13:36You know, whenever other things are starting to progress.
13:38That is very true.
