00:00on Roman Anthony who's got a brace now suddenly on the wrist that I believe Craig Breslow told
00:06us was day-to-day a week or so ago and soon Curtis they will be able to get to
00:11the strong
00:12gripping which is very important yeah I mean anybody else concerned or is it just I'm on an
00:18island there um about Roman Anthony yes you should be concerned okay like he was put retroactively
00:27on the IL on May 5th it's May 13th that was the 10-day IL so you would think he
00:33would be back in
00:33two days right yesterday he has the he's still working on getting his grip strength back and he
00:38has a something on his he has a splint or whatever it is a brace on his wrist and it's
00:44ginger yeah
00:45well if you think this offense is going to get going you need Roman Anthony wasn't he the guy
00:50that you were looking at saying that he was maybe going to be the guy who could give you 30
00:53did you
00:54see him before the wrist injury I know but you would think you I don't I don't have concern like
00:59because I don't feel like this is something that's going to be a long-term thing that affects his
01:05career so the beast the season is about to begin and he is balls to the wall on the 12
01:12million people
01:13watched world baseball classic yeah he is front and center being praised by Aaron Judge Bryce Harper and
01:19Mike Trout right the season starts out poorly and all of a sudden he's gone yeah I don't know I
01:26feel
01:27like this is it's concerning I believe that the organization would not have acted in the way they
01:33did if they thought it was something like this do you think it's gonna affect him long term
01:39yeah not do not the injury approach Curtis are you saying you think he's injury prone or that you
01:47think his I think it's these types of things are rarely shifted over the course of a career if you
01:54need to be 100 to play when you're young that doesn't get better hmm that's interesting see I'm
02:00looking at it just from the perspective of Wiggy are they still in it they are technically okay so if
02:06technically they're still in it where are you going to improve the offense this season yeah it's going
02:11to take somebody like Roman Anthony taking a big jump forward like a little bit of what you saw in
02:15the world baseball classic and if this is going to be a lingering thing because maybe it's not a 10
02:21day stint on the IL maybe it's something where that they do longer then that doesn't indicate that
02:28there's going to be any realistic chance of a term I look at it like I think that he'll ultimately
02:33be
02:34fine and won't be something that will affect him long term yeah two years from now I don't think
02:38this affects him is he struggling now if he's healthy could he still struggle if he comes back
02:42happy birthday by the way 22 years old today Roman Anthony yep probably so I think if you're
02:49happy birthday I think if you're more concerning like Curtis is Curtis I and I don't want to put words
02:54in his mouth feels like that Roman Anthony has to feel 100% in his mind or he's always going
03:01to be
03:02or he's going to be one of those guys if he doesn't feel 100% he's going to deal with
03:05a lot
03:06of things or until he gets a seven-year deal worth over a hundred million dollars he'll take some time
03:11off wait me last year he was you know we played a bunch and then he got a huge contract
03:17oh so you
03:18think that he's tapping out yeah I think he could easily play right now and the organization agrees so
03:24I don't know if it's the merch bag talking or you actually believe it but you you think there's a
03:31turnaround no I don't know I don't think there's a turnaround okay because I need to ask you where
03:35the offense is coming from I don't know I don't think you're ever going to have offense this season
03:40you got you got you got basically two guys right who are able to hit home runs for you and
03:47maybe they
03:48maybe somehow they both get to 20 yeah I don't think your offense is going to turn around okay
03:54yeah I don't think your offense is good I'm just you're cooked yeah I'm just saying hopefully the
03:58rest of the American League and guys fighting for wild card they stink just like you and and then
04:05the the the teams that get those two wild card spots it's really who's more you know it's where
04:11the best dookiest out of all the dookies you know what I mean we all stink but we don't stink
04:16as bad
04:17as everybody else and I think that's the way the American League is shaken up at least when it comes
04:22down
04:22to those two wild card spots right now you know and that's all you can hope for where do you
04:27think
04:27this is gonna rank in terms of most depressing Red Sox regular seasons because everybody always
04:35talks about chicken and beer chicken and beer but they were good yeah like the endings suck but but
04:39the way that they imploded was like it was a cautionary tale if you're looking at teams that
04:44are future cautionary tales where would this one where is this one starting to climb into and I know
04:50it's only May I think a lot of people had this had very high expectations on this team that you
04:55know
04:56in spring training the beginning of the year because the Alex core obviously all the hype around Roman
05:01Anthony especially with you know what we saw him doing the world baseball classic and then to go from
05:07where that is to where this potentially could go is you know you're probably man that was a horrible
05:16season I think glad it's over I think it's in a uh in the running for one of the most
05:21disappointing
05:22organization shifting seasons since John Henry purchased the team what do you mean by organization
05:27shifting the way in which we thought we were at the start with Alex Cora going to the playoffs
05:32winning game one of the wild card at Yankee Stadium entering this year with Roman Anthony dominating the
05:37world baseball classic will you're a break you dominating for Venezuela you're feeling like you are
05:43the envy of most big league teams that you have these star guys and you felt like you're on the
05:50ground
05:50floor or the second floor of a rebuild that had been accelerated and then you're not even 40 games in
05:57core is gone the offense is inept in the future that you thought was lock stock and barrel is with
06:05a brace
06:05on his hand and you can't hit like and it's not only that like you're inept you are historically awful
06:11right you are you you're not only are you at the ground floor of something you have an interim manager
06:17that doesn't look like he'll be here long term you have Craig Breslow who is the biggest loser so far
06:25since firing Cora when he won that battle like I honestly I have no idea where they're gonna go and
06:31we
06:31thought this team was beginning something how long does he have to answer the question which was asked
06:39again last night about making the decision to make the change and whether he's happy with the result
06:46until he's fired if they keep performing like this but does he have to answer it and say first and
06:51foremost uh let me tell you uh how much I appreciate Alex Cora and Jason Veritek and their world series
06:59winning pedigrees right uh that uh did not compute like like like you you don't you didn't appreciate
07:08them because you fired them right so well that you fired them because they they weren't performing
07:13and I think there were a lot of people and I don't know what the poll result was but I
07:17think there was
07:17a a you know 50 percent of the Red Sox fan base was like finally you fired Alex Cora now
07:25the new guy
07:26granted he hasn't given you much success he's given you more than what Cora has but the bar was set
07:32so
07:32low there hasn't been success it's it's like buying a Plymouth with 300,000 miles on it hey and the
07:39thing can't go over 35 miles an hour so you fire your mechanic and the thing is still going
07:47can't go over 35 miles an hour it's the Plymouth with 300,000 miles on it that is the problem
07:54well but
07:54you're you're not the mechanic no but your your manager that you have now not that he's that much
08:01better is better than the guy you had what if the mechanic hated your car yeah just parts of it
08:06so I think that like the Cora thing is if Cora is still here you probably don't even have those
08:15couple of series you want or you swept like it gets worse and worse and worse I think the person
08:21who
08:21but why would you laugh and say that's the way it was going because the team is virtually no better
08:27way they are better they're better with Tracy than they are with Cora yes because they are losing
08:33run differential wise they're losing by less runs but they're still losing but they're still a better
08:38team with Tracy they're what a game or two on 500 with Cora they were like he stinks right and
08:46I guess
08:46what what we're asking is what did Cora do that caused them to like in what way was Cora impacting
08:52this negatively hey he was hitting Durbin in the two hole who was but they're the exact same offense
08:58that's one you know there is no difference right but but whatever the lineup no with Tracy the lineup
09:03changed a little bit I think same exact performance right because that's because of the players so then
09:07don't bring up the lineup then but but you you're supposed to when you start to look at the lineup
09:12right that's something the manager does right right and they have identical offensive stats with
09:16both no I understand that but you were still hitting one of your worst hitters in the two hole rather
09:22than one of your young up-and-coming guys that you had a lot of expectation on whether it's you
09:28know
09:28Duran leading off and you're hitting but in hindsight isn't Cora's point that they need to make changes
09:33right they did make changes no I mean
09:35you
