00:00I know technically and dynamically I'm a great singer, but to some degree, too, everybody doesn't like the sound of
00:07their voice, you know?
00:08And so I know that I'm good, you know, but I also still, like, always am so judgmental of myself
00:15when I, like, hear myself.
00:16But sometimes I'm like, alright, sing, fat boy, let it go, you know?
00:21Welcome back to another Odyssey Check-In. What's going on? My name is Brew.
00:25Today, a very special guest. I've heard we're best friends from another life.
00:28Mr. Teddy Swims is here. What's up, man?
00:31Hey, buddy.
00:32So, I just, I love becoming friends with people at the first meeting, so we'll see how it goes.
00:36This is our interview.
00:37I think it's going great already, man.
00:39So far, so good. We got the fashion thing going. I love your sweater.
00:41Thank you, man. I like your jacket.
00:43Thank you so much. Your nails, too. I need to up my game.
00:45Dude, yeah, I just got them yesterday, man.
00:47Wow.
00:47Shiny little guys.
00:48What's the inspo there?
00:50I try to keep them done because it keeps me from destroying eating my cuticles and nails down to the
00:56knuckle, you know?
00:57I don't know.
00:58That's the hack, huh?
00:59I'll just shoot, man.
01:00If you're paying him, you won't do that.
01:01God, I need that. I never thought about that.
01:03Hey, the gel ex is the king.
01:06Yeah. Well, congratulations on so many things. I mean, I've been following your journey for so long.
01:10It's been so fun to see and couldn't happen to a better dude, it feels like.
01:13Thank you, man.
01:14How crazy is it that this is, like, your life? You know? Like, how many other paths could this have
01:19gone? I feel like that's with everybody, but just, like, yours is such a cool journey.
01:22Yeah, I mean, you know, this is the path that, you know, we walked down and this is where it
01:30had to be, but it could have gone a lot of other ways, I guess.
01:33But, you know, I'm grateful. So grateful to be here.
01:36Yeah. And how's life in general? I mean, your son's probably, what, a year now?
01:39Dude, 10 months old. Yeah, he'll be a year on June 23rd, man. We're so close. I mean, when you
01:45think it's, like, what, six weeks away? He's going to be a year old. He's about to do his first
01:49dentist appointment.
01:50Wow. Didn't know he did him that early.
01:52Yeah, dude. He's got, like, eight teeth right now. I don't know why they do it. Yeah, I mean, they're
01:57probably going to try to tell him that he should be flossing. I don't know. He won't let dentists tell
02:00you.
02:01It's the easiest time to floss.
02:02Whatever liberal lie that dentists tell you.
02:05We don't believe in flossing. It's so fun.
02:08I mean, I'm sure it's, like, such a learning curve, too.
02:11Flossing is where we draw the line.
02:14But, yeah, it's, like, as a new parent, I'm sure everything is, like, oh, I got to do this, that.
02:17Like, such a learning curve.
02:19But, you know, so much of it is, like, really, like, I don't know. It's kind of nature. Like, it's
02:25kind of ingrained in you, too. You know, like, the first time I met him, you know, got to hold
02:31him, like, when he was born, it was, like, there was so much that was, like, you know, as soon
02:36as I held him, I was like, I've always been,
02:37you know, like, I think it's, like, so, like, primal things that you just know what to do and how
02:44to do and your instincts are, like, cat-like all of a sudden when he's around, you know what I
02:50mean?
02:50I mean, there's so many things that I just was, like, felt like I was going to be so ill
02:54-prepared for, you know, like, because I totally, like, didn't read the books or, like, do the things, you know?
02:59But I was like, okay, well, you know, I get it, I think. You know, I think I'm doing all
03:04right. And my dad's the best dad in the world.
03:06So, I just kind of try to copy and paste and call and ask questions when I can and be
03:11like, Dad, am I, like, doing good?
03:13Yeah.
03:14And it seems like he's got a, he's doing really good.
03:18He's right on track and everything's right.
03:21I mean, you know, 90 percentile and height and weight, he's a big old boy.
03:25Oh, yeah.
03:25So, I just got to get him out there doing his three-point stance as soon as possible, you know
03:29what I mean?
03:30Get the corn diet whenever they can start eating food.
03:32I don't know if he can eat real food yet.
03:33Yeah, he can, bro. He can eat everything.
03:35Get that Gerber corn, whatever that Iowa fed one is.
03:38He'll be ready to go.
03:39I love that.
03:40You always hear that, too.
03:41I feel like as you get older, you learn your parents are just doing the same thing, like, figuring it
03:44out.
03:44It's the first time in life, too.
03:46So, it's like a, not a humbling thing, but it's a different visual.
03:50Well, you know, I, like, my mom was, like, you know, 23.
03:54My dad was 21 when they had me, I believe it was.
03:57And they already had two.
03:58And I was like, God, dude, y'all are babies.
04:01Yeah.
04:01No wonder.
04:02It's hard to think.
04:02So many things with my mother now.
04:04I'm just like, oh, I get it.
04:05Like, you know, she said something actually really beautiful to me, though.
04:09It's, like, such, so profound.
04:10She does hair for a living.
04:11And, you know, she has pictures of me and my older brother on her little desk.
04:16And they go, like, somebody asked, Glennon, how'd you raise such good boys?
04:20And she said, hell, they raised me.
04:22You know, and I was like, how profound and beautiful is that?
04:24Because I feel like at 33, I'm so glad I, you know, know, and I'm, like, in a good place
04:31in my life.
04:31And I'm not, like, just a child raising a child, you know?
04:34I mean, a lot of ways I feel that way.
04:36But I'm happy.
04:37Maybe I'm a man, and I'm a good man, and I have a good job.
04:41And, you know, like, I'm pretty established as far as life goes and how to live life.
04:45And, I mean, you know, not perfect by any means.
04:48But I feel like I'm in a lot better state than my parents were when they had me, you know?
04:53Yeah.
04:54Sign of the times, too, where, like, I feel like they grew up so much faster.
04:57And then us, it's, like, the opposite effect.
04:59I feel like I can't.
05:00If I had a scare, I'd be like, oh, my God, I can't.
05:02I'm only a baby.
05:03I can't do a teen pregnancy.
05:04I'm, like, 30, you know?
05:05This is funny.
05:06It takes us, like, longer to develop.
05:08I blame the pandemic.
05:10But, anyways, not to go down that route.
05:12It's so fun to get to catch up with you on the new music.
05:15Congrats on this new era.
05:16Do you operate in that, like, mind space of, like, an era?
05:19Or what does, like, the next chapter feel like for you when you, you know, start putting
05:22out new music?
05:23Yeah, I mean, you know, the biggest thing I did when we started this, like, next album, because
05:28I remember forever I was asking, like, you know, I was bald and had this beard forever.
05:32And I was always, like, I wanted to, like, do something funny, like, get a handlebar mustache.
05:37And I kept telling, like, her, like, you know, Kylie and Luke, my manager, was like, you know,
05:42I just want to shave my beard.
05:43And they're like, you can't rebrand right now.
05:45I was like, it's not a rebrand, dude.
05:46I just want to, I'm tired of having a beard I haven't seen my chin in 15 years.
05:49Was the beard that important?
05:50Do you think it was that much of a career?
05:52No, I don't think so.
05:53If you get rid of the beard, your songs will drop.
05:54But now I'm, like, such a, now I'm just trying to stab myself so hard that this is, like,
06:00my handlebar mustache.
06:01This is a new era of me with my mullet and handlebar stache.
06:08It's not that big of a deal.
06:09You know, it's funny, because, like, obviously I know what you look like, but I never, I don't
06:12associate that, like, with your sound, which is so interesting.
06:16But I could see where it would be concerned, where, like, you know, and a familiarity and
06:19all that.
06:20But I love the look.
06:21Thank you, Bill.
06:21It's great.
06:22Like, in the handlebar mustache, the day I can grow a beard and a mustache, I will.
06:26It's almost 30, but I don't know.
06:27It doesn't come in all the way.
06:28Yeah, it ain't working out for me.
06:30Mine's been growing on my face since I was freaking too young.
06:34I mean, I feel like, I'm in eighth grade already having my little goatee action coming in.
06:40I was like, well, maybe I could buy a booze, but that didn't work.
06:43You're lucky.
06:43Or maybe not.
06:44I don't know.
06:44Not having to shave.
06:45Now I hate shaving.
06:46Yeah.
06:46I don't have the benefits of getting a full-on beard, which is just, it's a tough life.
06:51But, you know, that's my cross after bear.
06:53Yeah.
06:54You know?
06:55Actually, yeah.
06:56I feel like you probably talked about it so much, about your journey and just, like,
06:59how you got discovered and, you know, the covers you did that were so amazing.
07:02When did you realize, though, that your voice was just, like, insane?
07:05Man, hopefully next week, you know what I mean?
07:08I really, like, I try to, I know technically, like, and dynamically, like, I'm a great singer,
07:15but to some degree, too, everybody doesn't like the sound of their voice, you know?
07:19And so I know that I'm good, you know, but it's, I also still, like, always, I'm so judgmental
07:25on myself when I, like, hear myself.
07:27But sometimes I'm like, all right, sing, fat boy.
07:30Let it go, you know?
07:31That's, well, I, you know, it was a long time coming to get, like, where I felt good
07:37about it, and I was bad for a while, you know?
07:39I mean, when I first started it, we weren't good at singing at all, so it's, you know,
07:43here we are, and it's, like, constant.
07:45I'm still learning so much, and I'm, like, still around singers all the time that are
07:49so incredible and so much better than me, and I think that's where you want to be.
07:53I mean, if the, truly, like, if you're the best guy in the room, you're probably in
07:56the wrong room, right?
07:57And so I try to, like, surround myself with people that are just, like, flooring me as
08:02a musician, you know, and be like, wow, man.
08:04And, you know, in today's climate, there's, like, a nine-year-old on TikTok who's better
08:10at both of our jobs than we are, you know?
08:12And that's always humbling and awesome to see.
08:15Yeah, totally.
08:16Do you find your process for making music has become, like, more refined, or is it more
08:21like the walls are down even more?
08:23I think it's kind of both in a sense.
08:27Like, I think it's refined in a way that, like, I now, like, for so long in my life, you
08:32know, before we got to here, I would always think, like, it's so much about trying to,
08:37like, do the thing that is, you know, maybe relatable to people.
08:42But I find that the craziest thing is the more, like, you do stuff that is so for you
08:47and so specific to you that it's more relatable in a way.
08:51And, you know, even if you're talking about, like, the street you grew up on or, like,
08:55the lake you grew up on, you know, somebody will, like, maybe not know what that place
09:00is, but they have that own place, you know, their own place and their version of that versus
09:04just trying to keep it so, like, general, you know?
09:08And so I think it's, I try to just keep it so, like, I guess, like, specific to me and
09:15what I'm going.
09:16Yeah, authentic.
09:16That's the word.
09:17Yeah.
09:17That's what people are craving these days, and I think of even an artist like Noah Kahn
09:21where it is so specific, you know?
09:22Yeah.
09:23I'm like, man, you couldn't even make that up.
09:25It's so specific.
09:26He's the man, dude.
09:26I love that guy.
09:27And that's just what, you know, is so special about your story because you can tell it's
09:31coming from you.
09:31So I love that.
09:33You are off a busy, well, I mean, last month was crazy between Coachella and Stagecoach.
09:37Congratulations on that.
09:39Yeah, dude, thank you.
09:39I mean, maybe the best guest lineup, having these people come out and join you on stage.
09:42What was it like, the artist's perspective, doing Coachella and Stagecoach, like, both
09:46views?
09:47You know, it was equally as awesome as it was, like, exhausting being in the, you know, the
09:51desert for that long.
09:53Yeah.
09:53But it was...
09:53Dusty.
09:54Dude, yeah.
09:55Especially by Stagecoach.
09:56It's like, grass is dead.
09:57It's just like a dust bowl, you know?
09:59Oh, yeah.
09:59And the wind was so bad.
10:00They, like, canceled, like, right after we got off.
10:02Like, it was, like, it was, like, dude, the wind, like, kicked up right before our set
10:08started.
10:08And, I mean, dude, we have, like, a van on our stage.
10:11It, like, the wind pushed it, like, three, five feet back, and the, like, lights were shaking.
10:17It was horrifying out there.
10:19But, you know, I mean, it was such a blessing.
10:21You know, we, like, David Lee Roth came and did all three weeks with us, too.
10:25So that was, like, such a sick moment.
10:27And the first week we have Vanessa Carlton and Joe Jonas.
10:30And, you know, those are all, like, childhood heroes of mine.
10:33So, like, being able to, like, have those moments, I think were awesome for everybody else.
10:37But for me especially, I was just like, dude, we made it, you know?
10:42Absolutely.
10:43Congrats on that, too.
10:44It's just so cool to be able to, you know, apply to both of those audiences is, like,
10:49a huge thing, too, for just what it says about your music.
10:51Dude, well, thanks, man.
10:53Yeah, it's cool that it's, like, country-adjacent enough to, you know, like, or just, you know,
10:59it reaches, touches people in a way that's, like, I guess it, like, we don't have to change
11:05the set, really, to fit, you know, or change anything that we're doing to fit in every
11:09avenue.
11:09So it felt like a, like, justifying, you know?
11:13Yeah, it made sense.
11:13Absolutely.
11:14Speaking of country, too, you know the thing that people comment the most on your post?
11:17I don't know if you see this, but just, like, Chris Stapleton.
11:19When are you guys going to do a song?
11:21We've got a chance.
11:22We recorded a couple times, like, together, and he's such a, man, he's such a cool dude.
11:27Like, he, like, has this big old warehouse, and, you know, like, when you write with him,
11:33he wants to, like, you know, sit down and just jam it out one-on-one and, like, record
11:39it on a voice memo and print out the lyrics, like, so old-school style, you know what I mean?
11:43So, like, we have a couple things we've written that are just sitting on a voicemail on my phone
11:48that we'll, you know, hopefully we'll get to doing something with eventually, but still
11:53just spending that time, like, sitting this close to him and listening to this guy, like,
11:57play guitar and sing and write songs.
11:59It's still, no matter what, like, some of the coolest moments, and, I mean, I also, being
12:04a dad, he's, like, gave me so much advice on, like, you know, that stand of, like, having
12:11kids and being, like, a parent and, like, playing music and doing it at such a high level.
12:17So, like, he's the freaking man.
12:19He's, like, carved his own way, too.
12:21Just the way his wife performs with him, his kids are always on tour with him, you know?
12:24It's, like, he's definitely one to absorb that stuff from.
12:27He's so unique.
12:28His kids, like, I mean, last year when I saw him, he's, like, this was his first year
12:34that his kids are, like, in, you know, in school and not, like, they homeschooled him
12:39on the road for so long and stuff, and it's such a crazy bit.
12:42But he's, like, yeah, they're getting old enough now that they want, like, I want them to have
12:46some sort of consistency and not just be on the road with us all the time.
12:50Makes sense.
12:51So, I think he's kind of, like, weekend warrior-ing it a bit and coming home to the kids.
12:56It's, you know, it's cool stuff.
12:57Yeah.
12:58It's a cool visual, though.
12:59Thinking of you guys in a room, he probably just goes over to his typewriter and, like,
13:01types out lyrics or whatever.
13:03It's a crazy thing to imagine.
13:04Yeah, he's an old school.
13:05Dude, this warehouse, too, has just got every, I mean, a closet full of just guitars and gear.
13:11Him and his band are just absolute gearheads, man.
13:14They just love, like, last time his bassist was in there, like, tinkering with this bass
13:19he found, and, like, he's like, this is from the 50s, and he's just, like, tinkering with
13:23it and messing with it, and they're so cool, man.
13:25That's amazing.
13:27Well, we're getting to work with him, but also, like, on your new album, so many familiar
13:30collaborators that you, you know, work with on your previous music.
13:34Like, what's the line, like, where, you know, you work with people that you know it works
13:38in your music that's done so well compared to, like, finding some new voices or different,
13:43like, perspectives?
13:43Does that ever cross your mind?
13:44Yeah, you know, because sometimes it's a weird thing with collaboration because sometimes
13:49you can, like, have such a good chemistry as a friend with somebody, but then also y'all
13:55might get in the room and try to write together, and it's just, like, pulling teeth, you
13:59know, but also sometimes there's, like, you know, the chemistry with writing and hanging
14:05can be such a different ballgame, you know, and I've experienced it both ways, but I think
14:11I'm at the place now where I try to, like, I'm always open to collaborate and do everything,
14:16but I think the thing that's when we write now is when we bring, like, new folks into
14:20the fold and write with, I have, like, sort of my core unit that we can kind of pull this
14:27guy or this lady in, and, you know, we can, at least in a comfortable setting that, you
14:31know, like, all right, I know how, I know, like, these folks are going to get the best
14:35out of me, so it's not like, you know, going and just being, like, kind of timid, you know,
14:40with other people that you haven't worked with.
14:42How do you know who to pull and, like, what inspires that decision of, like, they're
14:46the right one?
14:46Maybe I'm a fan of somebody or, like, for this last writing camp we did, Julian was, like,
14:51you know, Julian and John, Julian Bunetta and John Ryan, they did, like, they kind of
14:57put together and built One Direction, and so we just recently, this last writing camp,
15:01like, did some writing in London.
15:03You built a boy, man.
15:05No, but, you know, they pulled in some of these cats that they used to write, you know,
15:10all the One Direction stuff with, like, Jamie Scott, you know, and so, like, you know, I
15:15got to, it was also, or Ed drew it for that matter, it was also so cool because as soon
15:20as they came in, you know, Julian had known them for 20 years already, so he's like, oh,
15:24man, you guys will get along great, and you guys will totally hit it off, and so it was,
15:27like, you didn't have to go to that fear of, like, you know, maybe this is a bad idea,
15:33like, I don't want to be stupid here, you know, it was easy to just, like, bros of bros,
15:38you know, to work it out.
15:40Yeah.
15:40Well, you're gearing up for your first headline tour, it's got to be so exciting.
15:43You've gotten over the stage fright part, I'm guessing, because of doing Coachella's,
15:46all that good stuff.
15:48What are your feelings before you do embark on your own headline tour?
15:51I mean, I'm so excited, this, like, is our first, you know, North American arena tour,
15:57like, we've been playing arenas pretty much everywhere except for America, so it's always
16:02been, like, kind of the last people on board, so I'm really excited to play, like, and I,
16:07you know, the forum here, like, man, it's so cool to, like, be doing that at a big level,
16:14and, you know, there's always a difference in the, like, the bigger it gets, trying to maintain
16:19the, like, intimacy of it, too, you know, so I think we're going to do a great job.
16:24You always hear people like Ed Sheeran talk about that, where his favorite place to perform
16:27is, like, you know, a small little dive bar.
16:29Yeah, same, yeah.
16:30He can still hold on to that piece of him while he's in arenas, and it's, like, 70,000
16:34people, and it's amazing how people can, like, figure that out.
16:37Well, we always try to do, like, the, you know, busking on the side of the road or a pop
16:41-up
16:41somewhere at this bar or, like, go sing karaoke with a stranger to, you know, to, like, to
16:47keep it, like, still, you know, fun and, like, sporadic and on the cuff, you know, because
16:54live music has still got to be that fun, too, and not that it's any less fun in a big
16:59arena
16:59or something, it's just that, like, there's so many tiny moving parts that go into it that
17:04it's, like, there's not as much room for, like, hey, man, forget this, let's play this
17:09song instead, you know what I mean?
17:11You can't do that sometimes.
17:12It's almost, like, a responsibility.
17:13No, there's just a set list, you know?
17:15Yeah.
17:15It's got to be good.
17:16I promise Lose Control is coming.
17:18It's just happening at the end.
17:20Stop yelling for it.
17:21Gosh, Lose Control, man.
17:23What a song that just stops you in your tracks.
17:25I'll never forget hearing that for the first time.
17:27What's your relationship with that song now?
17:29I know it's been out, you know, not that long, but to be a song that I feel like it's
17:33put you on the map for so many people, does it feel like a song that'll be, you know,
17:37one of those, like, staple songs for so many decades, you know?
17:40Yeah, I think forever it's going to outlive me, you know?
17:44It's truly, like, one of the, you know, not that I've personally feel this way, but, I
17:49mean, it's one of the greatest tunes ever, you know?
17:51Like, it's, you know, it's done, like, so much, and it's, I mean, got so many accolades
17:56to it, and it just continues to grow, and it's still crushing it.
17:59It's, like, I think it's, I think there's still, it's so funny, though, how, like, these
18:04days, though, how many people are, you know, successful or famous in a way that, how many
18:09times, like, you know, I just recently performed at Preservation Hall with the band there in
18:15New Orleans, and, like, you know, this lady came up to me, and she was, like, you know,
18:20when you got up there, I was, like, this guy just kind of looks like Post Malone and Jelly
18:25Roll had a baby, and I was, like, what is this guy going to sound like?
18:28And then you started playing Lose Control, and I was, like, oh, that's that guy.
18:31I didn't know that.
18:32I just never seen your face before, and I was, like, I guess that's a compliment, I
18:36guess, but cool, you know, so maybe you just don't know the face to the name or the, you
18:41know, the song, or you might know a song, but not the person, you know, and it's such
18:45a weird thing.
18:46Yeah, well, it transcends, too, just, like, you know, whatever, just the way a song makes
18:49you feel or you hear it, you know, anywhere you go is, it becomes a beast of its own,
18:55you know?
18:55It really is, yeah.
18:57You're talking about doing karaoke.
18:58I love those, like, fan events where you get to do, like, you know, the small intimate
19:01things, and you've crushed so many covers of other people.
19:05Have you ever heard someone do, like, Lose Control or even another song of yours that
19:08you're, like, oh, my gosh, like, just absolutely.
19:11All the time, man, and I get, like, you know, text messages all the time from somebody I know
19:15is out, and they said, this guy is, like, here, you know, sometimes crushing it, sometimes
19:20butchering the song, you know, whatever.
19:22You said them all the same.
19:22Yeah, but I've always, like, well, I hope you're having fun, man.
19:27You should have got up there and did it with them, you know, or something.
19:29But, I mean, it's such an honor and privilege that people, like, care to, it's definitely
19:34one of those tunes that, like, from the first note of the piano, you're, like, if you see
19:39somebody out, you know, doing the song, karaoke or dabble or whatever cover band, you know,
19:45you're, like, you're, like, all right, well, like, I'm going to sit here until the course
19:49and, like, you know, you better nail that thing, you know?
19:52You can't, you can't suck at that tune, you know?
19:54You got to be, you got to be on it.
19:56Exactly.
19:57It's a cool staple to see, like, you know, a singer's good or not, you know, which is,
20:03it's such a crazy thing to, like, hear that when people, like, feel that way about it.
20:08Yeah.
20:08No, absolutely.
20:10I feel like you're such a giver, whether it is your family or your fans, you're always
20:13going to give, like, 110%.
20:14I'm always curious, like, what do you do to make sure you're, like, taking care of yourself,
20:18whether it's your voice or peace, you know, energy, all those things?
20:21Um, man, I try, I try my best to just be, like, whatever, whatever it is that I, I am,
20:29the place that I'm in, I try to be, like, I try to be open about that, you know, because
20:33there's, there's those times, too, I, I find that I'm maybe at a airport, let's say, you
20:38know, and it's 7 a.m. and you've got three hours of sleep and somebody, like, comes up
20:42and says, like, oh, my God, I love you stuff or whatever comes to have a conversation with
20:47you.
20:47And, and I used to be so bad about turning around and being, like, oh, hi.
20:51Yeah, you know, even if I was exhausted.
20:53So nowadays, I, I, I try to just be, like, hey, listen, like, uh, I'm so, so, so happy
20:59and I feel so grateful that, you know, like, you, you, if I have a lack of enthusiasm, I
21:03promise I'm, like, three hours of sleep.
21:05I'm at 30% right now, girl, but I love you and I appreciate the, like, the care and support.
21:09And so I try not to just, like, overextend myself and just put out the, you know, put on
21:14the Chuck E. Cheese head and just, like, mascot suit it, you know what I mean?
21:18I'm like, you know, so I try just to be, like, I love you.
21:20Thank you so much.
21:21And try to be where I am and, and, and, and be better about receiving compliments too
21:26instead of just being like, oh, no, that's you, you know, because I used to be so bad
21:30about that.
21:30So I try to just, like, be, be where my feet are and be vulnerable and be honest with people.
21:35And, and, and always am happy to, like, I always prioritize my gratefulness and, and,
21:40and give myself where, where I can, you know, and, and I know it takes a lot for somebody
21:45to come and say something to somebody, you know, I, I find myself too, if I'm a fan of
21:50somebody being like, I don't want to bother them, you know, which, which I never feel bugged
21:53by anybody.
21:54I always am so grateful for the, the love, you know?
21:57Yeah, for sure.
21:58Well, I can't wait to hear the new music.
21:59Mr. Know It All is out now.
22:01What else do we need to know before this album comes out?
22:03Any surprises?
22:04What can you tell us?
22:04Yeah, yeah, I think we're a little further along than I thought we were, you know, we've
22:07been kind of buttoning up some loose ends the last couple of weeks and, and, you know,
22:11we'll, we'll, it'll, it'll be out before you know it.
22:14We're supposed to be dropping something here soon, but I still can't figure out which one
22:19it's going to be.
22:19So it's, you know, back in the day, it was so like pulling teeth to pull out some, put
22:23some songs out.
22:24But now, now the label's always like, where's the single, you know?
22:27So it's, it's, things are different now.
22:29So, but it, you know, it'll be good.
22:32We can't wait.
22:33Well, what else are you looking forward to?
22:34We have, you know, your son's dentist appointment.
22:36We got to get on that.
22:37Yeah.
22:37What else?
22:38Speaking of pulling teeth, what else is on the bucket list for you?
22:42You got a trip plan?
22:43Anything fun you're looking forward to?
22:44Man, you know, we're, we're, we're, we're going back to Bottle Rock and Bonnaroo again.
22:49And, and, and, you know, we were, we were the tiny name on it a few years ago.
22:53So it's, it's kind of cool to be like the big boy up there, you know, now.
22:57And I mean, the, you know, we're getting ready to go back to the, to Europe and the UK.
23:02And so, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm excited.
23:04And my, I mean, like I said, my son will be a year old soon.
23:07So there's, there's so many good things coming out.
23:09It's wild to think that you did all the like Europe shows first.
23:12I don't know.
23:13It feels like back, maybe not backwards to me to be able to do that stuff.
23:16We've always, we've always been, you know, like I said, we've been playing arenas there
23:19for a while.
23:21It's amazing.
23:21And we, we, we go there so often.
23:24I think we've invested so much time and energy there.
23:27It's a, at this, they've, they've always been like the first to help break us and get
23:31us to, you know, mattering anywhere else.
23:34So it's like, it's, you know, I don't know.
23:36I don't make the schedule.
23:38Yeah.
23:38You just go.
23:39I'm sure they're excited to see you again.
23:41And we're so excited to have you in, you know, obviously North America finally hit
23:44the, hit the road and hit these arenas.
23:46Can't wait to see it.
23:47And so fun to follow your journey.
23:48Can't wait to keep on, keep on following.
23:51And before you go though, I want to play a quick game, if that's okay with you.
23:54How are you at identifying songs?
23:55Like right off rip, you know, we talked about the key on lose control, but like, how are
24:00you with that?
24:01I guess it depends on the song, but yeah, I give it a shot.
24:04We're doing a opera from the 1920.
24:06No, I'm just kidding.
24:07Yeah.
24:09This is called beat the intro.
24:12Um, and it's going to be one second of a song.
24:15This is you versus me.
24:16I don't know what those songs are.
24:17Okay.
24:17So whenever you know what this song is, feel free to yell it out.
24:20We've got like five songs.
24:21So let's see how we do.
24:22Okay.
24:23Okay.
24:24First song up beat the intro with Teddy swims.
24:26Let's see if we can nail this one.
24:28Sorry if it's super loud.
24:31Do you have any idea what that is?
24:33Was that, was that Prince?
24:34Oh, uh, uh, little red Corvette, little red Corvette.
24:38Is that what that is?
24:38No, I think it's kids, right?
24:40Let's see.
24:42Oh, I knew exactly what you meant when you said Prince.
24:47I'm going to get you good by Cheryl.
24:50Cheryl Crow.
24:51Yeah.
24:51Is that right?
24:52She's not a twain.
24:53Oh, we're going to cut this one.
24:54Oh, that was a warmup.
24:56We look terrible.
24:57Wow.
24:59Far off Prince.
25:00That's my bad.
25:01Okay.
25:01Next song.
25:02We'll see if we can redeem ourselves on this one.
25:04Here we go.
25:04Song number two.
25:07Oh, isn't she lovely by Stevie Wonder.
25:10Yeah.
25:10See, we got that connection.
25:11See, we're best friends at the end of this.
25:14God.
25:15What can you say about Stevie Wonder?
25:16I mean, gosh.
25:17Man, the greatest of all time, man.
25:20If you stay on Stevie, I'll win.
25:23Oh, God.
25:23Can you imagine?
25:24Should I have twain in four Stevie songs?
25:27Yeah.
25:27Okay.
25:28Song number three.
25:28Let's go.
25:29We got a half a point, I feel like.
25:32Sunflower, Post Malone and Sway Lee.
25:35Oh, yeah.
25:36Is that it?
25:37You know, I almost, that's the one.
25:39I almost, I almost, I almost thought it was that.
25:42What's that Drake tune?
25:43I'm on and it's the option.
25:45Oh.
25:45I almost thought it was that for a second.
25:47You got me.
25:48Wildest play.
25:48This is like a road trip playlist from Shania to Stevie to Drake.
25:52Okay.
25:53Amazing.
25:53But it was Sway Lee and Post Malone.
25:55You were right.
25:55Yeah.
25:56Yeah.
25:56I think, I'm going to give you Stevie.
25:58So we're tied up one, one.
26:00Song number four.
26:01Here we go.
26:04Oh, Bad Dreams.
26:05That's Teddy Swims.
26:05Gosh.
26:06See, that's not fair.
26:06Yeah.
26:07That's just.
26:07When's my song coming up?
26:08You don't have to, yeah.
26:09You don't have to cheat for me, man.
26:11Thank you, man.
26:12I love this song too, man.
26:13This is the door.
26:14I mean, gosh, you have so many good songs.
26:16All right.
26:16You're up on me.
26:18We have like two more songs.
26:19The last song's worth a thousand points, just so you know.
26:21Okay.
26:22Here we go.
26:22Song number five.
26:25Drunk in Love.
26:27Beyonce.
26:28You probably got, yeah, I don't know.
26:29Surfboard.
26:32Yeah.
26:32Remember this one?
26:33You got it, yeah.
26:34It's a classic.
26:35Surfboard.
26:35There is.
26:37I love that, bro.
26:38There is no theme to this game.
26:40It could not be.
26:40This was about to be like sign language, I bet.
26:42I don't even know.
26:43Last song is for all the marvels.
26:45Okay.
26:46If it's a Teddy Swims song, though, I'm ready now.
26:49Here we go.
26:52I didn't even hear it.
26:53What is it?
26:53Did you hear that guitar?
26:55John Mayer.
26:57I want to run through the halls of my high school.
26:59What is that song called?
27:01Yeah.
27:01What's the song called, though?
27:02I think the title is I want to run through the halls of my high school.
27:06That's you.
27:07You get that, though.
27:07Dang it.
27:08I didn't know.
27:09I didn't know.
27:09Is that the title of it?
27:10No.
27:11Yeah.
27:11I don't.
27:12It's called No Such Thing.
27:13No Such Thing.
27:14Yeah.
27:15Well, there's no such thing as a win today for me.
27:18So thank you, Teddy.
27:18That was so fun.
27:20You killed it.
27:20You know it's always pretty well.
27:21I guess.
27:22That's pretty good.
27:23That was a wild genre there.
27:25Yeah, it was.
27:26A lot of stuff.
27:27Well, thank you again so much for the time, dude.
27:29I really appreciate it.
27:30Thank you, too, bud.
27:31Safe travels and good luck out on the road.
27:33Thanks, buddy.
27:34Appreciate you.
