00:00:56It's the Tampa Bay Rays taking on the Minnesota Twins.

00:01:10Home openers are unique and always bring a special type of energy to the ballpark.
00:01:15Today is a celebration.
00:01:17It is the beginning of a new year, and there's no other game like this one on the schedule.
00:01:22It's the first time playing inside your home stadium with your brand new teammates,
00:01:26and you know the fans are going to bring the energy.
00:01:29The excitement is already building in here.
00:01:33All right, we'll be back to get this one started after this.

00:06:53The sluggers of this lineup might not be too happy about the fact that the wind is blowing in today,

00:06:59Yeah, and you hear pitchers talk about how good it feels when the wind is at their back.
00:07:03And for hitters, they almost feel like beyond just the pitcher coming at you,
00:07:07you've got this other force coming against you.
00:07:10It's so important to try to get on top of the ball in terms of hitting line drives.
00:07:15There may be really hard ground balls with a good exit velocity that will get you a base hit
00:07:20because it's very frustrating.
00:07:22You just hit one on the screws, think it's going to go out of the ballpark,
00:07:26and an outfielder is camped underneath it in front of the warning track.
00:07:36Popped in the air.
00:07:38Left field.
00:07:39He's got it.
00:07:40Runner tags from third.
00:07:42Puts the tag on him and it's a double play.
00:07:45That ends the inning and stops things from getting out of hand.
00:07:48Always exciting to see a play at the plate.
00:07:51Try to score with two outs, but the tag just gets him in time.
00:07:54And they cut down the run to end the inning.
00:08:04Back in Minnesota, and today's starter, Nick Martinez, singing he was impressive his last time out.
00:08:11He's off to a good start, getting a win in his first start of the season.
00:08:15And so lifting a little bit of pressure right here, it's all about getting win number two.

00:16:44and that's probably why we saw a swing and miss
00:16:47right there just a nasty pitch
