00:13Muhammad Aidil Mustaqim Zulkifeli was charged with allegedly stealing nine items,
00:18comprising men's T-shirts, women's clothing, bras, shorts and dresses
00:23belonging to a clothing boutique along Jalan Lagenda, Taman Lagenda at night on May 10.
00:31The total value of the alleged stolen items was estimated at 491 ringgit.
00:37The charge was framed under Section 380 of the Penal Code,
00:42which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and a fine upon conviction.
00:47Deputy Public Prosecutor Sayaki Mardia Baharudin proposed bail at 7,000 ringgit,
00:53but National Legal Aid Foundation lawyer Muhammad Mawardi Zainuddin appealed for a lower amount,
00:59citing that the accused earns 1,500 ringgit a month as a mechanic
01:03and is the sole supporter of his mother, who is suffering from brain cancer.
01:08Magistrate Uthman Abdul Ghani subsequently set bail at 2,500 ringgit
01:13and fixed June 9th for the next mention date.
