Ministries have been tasked with engaging stakeholders, including traders, to better understand the challenges they face after a survey found that participation in formal financial aid programmes among hawkers and small traders remained extremely low, says Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

The Communications Minister said the matter was raised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during Wednesday’s (May 13) Cabinet meeting following findings by the Khazanah Research Institute (KRI).

00:00In the end of the day, the Prime Minister has made a study of the Institute of Penyelidikan Khazanah or

00:14that the result of the project in the formal program is at a very low level.
00:23And one of the reasons that have been discussed in the report is related to the status of the penyelidikan

00:33Based on the study, only 5% of the people have been able to receive help through Bank Simpanan Nasional,
00:41TKUN, Amanah Ihtia dan lain-lain program.
