00:03I've decided not to go down the painting of door cards route actually I've acquired some new ones
00:09fantastic yeah yeah yeah it's loads better well you haven't ordered 50 have you I might have done
00:14were they expensive I had a bit of an issue this morning actually well I ordered a couple
00:18of exhaust clamps for my sidecar yeah yeah and 40 have turned up they hold the rocks and they're
00:27the wrong size and you can we use them you can wrap them up with the footrest rubbers
00:34yeah yeah I thought they were expensive yeah you did didn't you and we're off trawling Britain's
00:41sheds this is absolutely unbelievable for the most intriguing I have never ever seen one of these
00:50cars the most exciting oh now that is a naughty car the most surprising classic cars it is very you
01:00I love it we're gonna buy them fix them up and sell them for a tidy profit nice little earner
01:11hey this is shed and buried classic cars we're off to Essex and fuzz is still moaning about the
01:23landing can I point something out well we're still in the Land Rover it's not gonna happen is it no
01:32it's
01:32just not gonna happen I can't afford it at the moment we gotta have a nice little earner and then
01:37we can
01:37get ourselves something decent what about a transit van not okay yeah a tranny I could do that anyway
01:43look we're digressing we're gonna go and see Warren yes exactly he's in Essex yeah okay so he's out in
01:50out in the sticks in Essex all right now Warren yeah he has a selection of stuff he's got cars
01:56right
01:57he's got small commercials you know small vans and stuff like that yeah I think you know motorbikes because a
02:03lot of people in the country have my folks he's got a selection yeah is he French uh no but
02:08I think he
02:09actually might be Maltese oh I do like Malta the food if you like seafood Malta is absolutely amazing
02:18so it's where to be love it and there are loads of classic cars loads of classic motorbikes loads of
02:24classic vehicle I can't wait I'm all excited the place I can't wait to meet Warren yes come on let's
02:29get
02:29there come on Warren whether we come back with a bag of prawns and some crab sticks or a Plymouth
02:37Barracuda who knows but Warren's place in Essex here we come now Warren come on then tell us what
02:47cars do you love and what do you collect and what do you sort of gonna sell me I can
02:52sell you a lot of
02:53things can you yes okay but for me it's fast Ford's I like all the Ford's I'm on Escorts Sierras
03:01that's right how did you get into that then uh my dad I think my dad always had mark ones
03:05yeah I've
03:06always been into them I think they're a beautiful car so uh you've got an inviting looking shed there
03:12hasn't it yeah yeah that looks good so it's tall enough to be on two levels so is everything in
03:17there
03:17for sale everything's for sale oh okay that's good everything everything yeah well I'll tell you
03:22what we'll do is we'll have a little rummage about yeah yeah all right might call you in and ask
03:27you on
03:27a few things and then hopefully at the end of it brilliant we might be able to extract something
03:32from you perfect yeah that's all that thanks okay thank you very much thank you all right
03:36we'll see you go then lead on Macduff I'm here see you later Warren see you later oh blimey well
03:44why
03:45don't we start at the very beginning of the alphabet a for alpine now tell me was these alpines was
03:52that
03:52in James Bond well this is a no from me a doctor no do you get it it was in
03:59doctor no the first ever
04:01James Bond car was a sunbeam alpine introduced in 1959 the sunbeam alpine stayed in production
04:10till 1968 it's photogenic good looks earning its starring roles in everything from to catch a thief
04:18to the great St Trinian's train robbery what are you doing I'm just having a look underneath here
04:23because well these cars have something in common with your very good self they are dreadful rotters
04:32absolutely and so so I wanted to see what sort of state it was in underneath there's a lot of
04:38under seal under there which means I think it's probably had work done to it should we have a
04:43quick look at the engine bay do you think okay we could do yeah yes I mean I just thought
04:49perhaps if
04:50it is a potential yeah it might be worth just seeing what is underneath here you're still talking
04:56yeah you carry on Fuzz trying to find the pool prove that you know I have sunbeam alpines I've worked
05:02on them but
05:02I can't remember where he is I've worked on them I've heard it all before I'm feeling you can't have
05:05worked on them you can't even open a bonnet I'm just too embarrassed it's gonna be around somewhere
05:09Warren could you come here and help him out I thought he's an expert look anybody got a torch no
05:17but I've got a warren move a side fuzzer left hand side look yeah I've just found it for it
05:23thanks
05:27mate pull it again you can't pull it again that's it there we are oh yeah hey Warren before you
05:32go
05:32yes tell us about this then mate we've had it for about two months now we've used it around to
05:38go out
05:38and about and it that is actually drives really really well well thanks so much for opening the
05:43bonnet I do appreciate that one day I'll work with a professional all right well look moving on
05:51okay Warren's other morsels include a Maltese Mazda why on earth would you buy a car right yeah and then
06:01cover the seats in plastic so you don't wear them out you don't get them to what are you what
06:06are you
06:06saving them for and a skoda pickup there is a real following for those I know that yeah yeah
06:13uh but I can't really follow it but his trio of marina vans like my dart throwing what are we
06:21going
06:22for you said the high school all right look now I've just got a bullseye really hit the spot when
06:30did you last see three marina vans in a row yeah I know especially with one converted with rear seat
06:36in it as well yeah of course yeah you hardly ever see these anyway no but three of them in
06:41pretty
06:41immaculate condition yeah but look there's other stuff here as well oh now hang on come on come
06:46and have a look here now 1968 I reckon this is what Warren was talking about yeah yeah look at
06:54it man
06:55oh yes is this a lift up bonnet hang on mate here we go oh now that is a naughty
07:03car mate that is great
07:04so what's it got it's got a Cosworth yeah it's a valve turbo yeah it's got a Cosworth lump in
07:09there
07:09and it looks like it's been done very well there's been a little bit of the bulkhead cutback yeah it's
07:14a mimsy just to drop her in but it fits very well it does look made for the job doesn't
07:20it yeah I bet
07:21this is a lot of fun and a lot of money what a lovely thing Warren's shed clutter includes a
07:30small
07:31tractor some even smaller quad bikes and a pair of diminutive mopeds nice little blue one and if you
07:39like them there's an orange one as well yeah why registration which is 1982 to 83 they're over 40
07:46years old yeah but I do actually think they've got a nice resale value if we can get them at
07:51the right
07:51price yeah but there's one more car that demands attention now the elephant in the room is this
07:58lovely Vauxhall estate yes it's a Vauxhall Victor is that what it is yeah the Vauxhall Victor was once
08:06Britain's most exported car over its 21 year production run there were several different
08:12estate versions this one though has clearly had a few modifications what I can see on the gear stick
08:19is that this has five gears five speed so I don't know whether this has got something else going on
08:27you
08:27know there's only one way to find out yeah we're gonna have to have a word with Warren Warren now
08:32Warren
08:33Fuzz needs to know how to open the bonnet on this one yeah all right very funny very funny can
08:39I just
08:40ask something Warren yeah it appears to have a five speed gearbox it does so this one originally would
08:46have come out with a four speed yes but back in Malta in the 70s the fuel will gone up
08:52so what they
08:53done is they took the old engine out yeah and they put a C1 Toyota in it right made a
08:57diesel made with five
08:58speed very economical so this is a diesel five speed Victor yep can we just have a look under the
09:04bonnet see how nothing you can now you found it yeah all right you're never gonna let that one lie
09:09are you I'm joking look at that fits like a glove look at that plenty of space is it good
09:15for cruising
09:15this is very good usable car it's not gonna win any any speed shows or anything but again it sits
09:21on
09:21the motorway heavily and it will put up with um indifferent use by poor drivers people who have
09:27no mechanical sympathy that sort of thing oh hello don't listen to him it's very forgiving
09:34there is a man who says the mechanic can't find the latch for all right okay well thanks for that
09:40Warren that's brilliant I think thanks mate great stuff all right here let's pop that down that's really
09:45odd isn't it and interesting I genuinely thought it would be a you know hotted up engine yeah no no
09:51it's a diesel well that's good it makes it usable yeah and I think I like it so loads of
09:58choice but
09:59what will we go for okay there's the Victor yeah the Victor the Alpine as well Alpine's a nice idea
10:05and obviously any one of those marina vans yeah quite like the white one actually yeah I don't think we
10:10could really stretch to the escort because I think that's we can find out we might as well ask about
10:15everything we could ask about everything Ron seems a nice enough and approachable chap he does yeah he could
10:19ask yeah all kinds of things this might be when that all changes it could be yeah I like that
10:23though
10:30so Warren look just to get a sighting lap first of all just get a few prices yeah so why
10:35don't we
10:35start with the Vauxhall Victor with the diesel engine yeah I would like five and a half grand for
10:39that one okay I don't think you will find another one like it just out of interest what about the
10:44Escort it's a big number yeah it's a big number yes the Escort is around 50 grand yeah I could
10:51believe that yeah okay let's talk marina vans shall we yeah so the I tell the white one the marina
10:57van
10:57that's it's five and a half thousand okay hey now Warren over there right you got a couple of little
11:02Suzuki FZ 50s yeah are they available they're available how much are they as a pair as a pair I'll
11:08take
11:08twenty eight hundred quid for them yeah and finally the Sunbeam the Sunbeam I would like six
11:15thousand pound for it okay would you be nearer the five for that I'll say I'll split it with you
11:24I'll be
11:24at about 55 do you want an Alpine well we're down in Woking with Warren and his exceptional set of
11:44classic bridge cars oh oh oh now that is a naughty car we've bid five grand on a Sunbeam Alpine
11:52you want
11:53an Alpine but he wants five and a half I think it could be quite nice I think it could
11:58be quite
11:58nice you've got to factor in a bit of paint work oh come on there we go let's go there
12:03we are thank
12:05you very much thank you thank you all right okay Warren thank you so much thank you very much thank
12:10you for coming yeah all right mate and we definitely want to come back okay better uh better go and
12:14get
12:14some uh yeah ready if you were all right we'll do thank you great cheers Warren all right oh I'm
12:19left
12:20alone to contemplate next day back at the shed we discover going Allen a shaken and stirred but a
12:32little bewildered that we call top and dab what are you talking about splodges of paint this is just
12:38over exuberant protection one little tiny chip off the paint yeah bludge of red oxide primer yeah
12:44stop it rusting and it will stop it rusting underneath that it probably looks quite nice yeah
12:50so I think I think you know rub down and given a a quick once over a quick blast it
12:55could look quite
12:55presentable and no we're going to respray it well can I just say oh I was looking past all that
13:02right I
13:03absolutely love these cars this is the first bond car it is yeah right Sean Connery drove this in
13:09doctor no yeah did he really that's right yeah okay it was dark blue so this is going to go
13:16dark
13:16blue in homage yeah to some of my favorite films that's right well I mean you know if we call
13:22you
13:22doctor no behind the scenes because if we need anything you always say nope also was there one of
13:28these did you get Carter oh yeah may well have been I may be wrong in that as well but
13:32either way they
13:33are iconic they are yeah and I've never driven one so looking forward to that immensely its general
13:39condition is good it does have a lot of under seal underneath but I think that's because somebody
13:44has has repaired it done the repairs and they didn't want anything to start coming back any of
13:49the rot to come okay all right so I think it's been well cared for there but agreed cosmetically
13:56it could look a little better it's challenged I'll tell you what we should do tomorrow right
14:00is take the hard top off and have a good look at how that all fits together and what is
14:05left of the
14:05soft top yes yeah oh can I say while I was rummaging with this there's a tonneau cover in the
14:10boot oh okay
14:10well we can have a look at all that right I personally think we should powder coat the wheels
14:16uh ivory yes good idea I think really we should just pay homage to one of our greatest British
14:24institutions which is James Bond yeah of course great idea you think so yeah I think so yeah
14:29let's go for it I think we should yeah celebrate and uh get into the whole James Bond thing do
14:35you
14:35know what I mean just for a laugh does that mean we're going to have a car chase here we
14:38go I'm
14:38going to do it there we are get off it what's that what shaken not stirred James Bond isn't it
14:47it's not a martini though is it next morning jelly's in the hot seat as fuzz and skid prepare to
15:00do
15:00battle do you know what I think we should do skid get everything that's in the boot out let's take
15:06the
15:06roof off yeah spark it up and have a little pre pre work test run Henry is hoping to paint
15:13this although
15:13I don't know if the jury's out on that but we'll just check it out it's a big job because
15:18there is
15:18a lot of red oxide blobbed on here and it's thick as tar I know but hopefully it's protected it
15:25it's
15:25done its job first task empty the surprisingly voluminous boot now a tonneau cover I think is
15:35a thing of joy because there we've got the little hump for the steering wheel there yeah seatbelts they're
15:41in the back right okay what we got in the bag ah here we are bedtime reading fuzz yeah lots
15:49of bedtime
15:50reading alpine alpine horn it's the calling document of the Sunbeam Alpine Club probably oh yes a couple of
16:00aftermarket mats there's more clutter here than the average auto jumble but eventually it's empty can I
16:07just say for us I think that looks reasonably solid yeah I think it is I think that's great actually
16:13it's not bad it's a little patch at there but generally speaking this is good I think the next
16:19thing we should do is check the lights static right have we got brake lights yes indicators yes left hand
16:30yes
16:30rear tail lights yeah a little bit dim but I don't know how bright they're meant to be but yeah
16:35they're
16:36both on okay and what about headlights yes both of them yes and dip and main beam yes it's flicker
16:44yeah
16:44it's gone the other way so yeah dip and main beams working there we are indicators indicators right hand
16:51that one's working and that side lights working neither of those two are come on let's get the roof off
16:56okay
17:00the hard top comes off easily enough
17:05revealing some seat covers that should have been left in the boot these bright blue ones stick out
17:12like a sort of yeah they don't really go with the door panels do they right fuzz yes final thing
17:17before we go for a spin I
17:18think we should just have a quick look in the engine bay very good the oil okay
17:22now I know exactly where the bonnet pull is on how do you I do yes oh good man I
17:27embarrassed myself a little while ago yeah when we picked it up
17:30there we go
17:33what size engine is this fuzz this is 1725 cc's it's quite pokey for a little car really
17:40oil level is good okay we are up to maximum and so is the radiator have a look in there
17:47yeah we've got coolant as well
17:51right there we go all that remains to do is take her for a spin
17:57oh it starts okay oil pressure's good yeah oil pressure's excellent yeah yeah okay off we go
18:04all right smooth takeoff just test the brakes now yeah hold tight oh they're all right yeah
18:09those are very nice yeah they inspire confidence oh perfect this may not be a Caribbean island but
18:22doesn't the Sunbeam look great it's got a bit of go to it it's lovely yeah it's very smooth yeah
18:30no
18:31rattles no bangs this is a really nice little car it is isn't it it looks worse than it is
18:36only because
18:37of the paintwork that's true and the trim we could do with straightening up the steering wheel yeah
18:42getting the gauges working yeah but other than that it's surprisingly good yeah I can imagine someone
18:49growing very fond of this yeah because it goes well yeah I can see why people wanted these cars when
18:57they were around okay can you feel the sap rising not at my age oh
19:07back in the shed time for some stripping before it goes out to be painted can I just ask you
19:13straight
19:13up yes is this a good car it is actually is it yeah it is it drives really well it's
19:19quick off the
19:19mark isn't it it is quick off the mark it's lovely it doesn't rattle no it doesn't rattle there are
19:24a
19:25number of gauges that don't work the rev counters a tad optimistic yes yes so it's right double and
19:30the the fuel gauge the fuel gauge is either Henry Cole standard or isn't working or is that empty
19:38yeah yeah well below it well look like a woolen unicorn yeah it's got a little horn this is very
19:47good in this with the roof down because it wasn't the warmest of sure hey can I just say um
19:52we need to
19:54get the new door cards and seat covers don't we they need to be black yes yeah I think so
19:59yes I
20:00think it could do with being all black interior right because then you know I think that kind of
20:05gathers it all together no absolutely I completely agree is it just ready to respray in the sense of
20:11ready to prep well yeah we're just getting ready to get some of this trim off so that it can
20:16go into
20:17the uh into the paint shop right with the minimum of fuss are we going to go dark doctor no
20:24james bond
20:25blue I think we should stick with the color that this is right because if we try and color change
20:33it
20:33then we have to do all the door shuts lots of little bits the engine bay all of that kind
20:38of thing
20:38so really we just need a little bit of a little bit of a fluff over okay because obviously I
20:44mean we paid quite a lot for this yeah
20:46yeah yeah it's a nice car it's good it's sturdy it's quite together but it looks awful yeah are we
20:54going to send the hard top in with it or not yes definitely yeah okay it does add value when
21:00you're
21:00selling it yeah definitely definitely well should we discombobulate then yeah yeah yes oh hold on
21:06you ought to go and sit down you know oh he moves quick enough then yeah he's quick enough there
21:11yeah it's
21:12the only time he does move quickly then there's hard work to be done in rapid succession off come
21:18the wipers the badge the door handles and the door cards you got it yes well done you're a car
21:31mechanic
21:31and those seat covers which hide a variety of evils now fuzz we've got a cream seat this side oh
21:38right
21:38okay well you can see exactly why those covers have been put on there can't we that's not a good
21:43look
21:44but most things come off without too much trouble look at that or of course we could yeah i'll scratch
21:54that
21:54straight away the chrome work thankfully is it much better nick than the paint and comes off easily
22:03at the beginning of the day we had a complete car but now all the lovely trim and detailing has
22:09been removed sorting the pop-mark paintwork is going to be a real challenge let's hope it's not mission
22:28impossible
22:29oh perfect we've picked a good one with our latest purchase a series four sunbeam alpine
22:35it's got a bit of go to it hasn't it it's lovely yeah all it needs now is a fresh
22:41paint job
22:42so having stripped off all its chrome we've sent it over to wayne the painter hey well welcome to
22:49wayne's gaff where we get everything sprayed now the alpine came here yesterday i'll go and see what's
22:56going down oh yes hello henry legend how you doing hey look blimey that was quick we've started this
23:06side we've not started that side so look under here looks pretty all right does it or what have you
23:10found it's a standard old car really oh is it okay you know it's been painted a few times before
23:16the last time it was painted yeah the paint has failed and the primer underneath it is failed so
23:23we're having to take all that off back to previous where there isn't any problem it's micro blistered
23:28if you look at all that look little dots all over the paint how does that happen micro blistering
23:34through damp well it is damp good chance it would have been wet flatted the primer right unless it's
23:41dried thoroughly before you paint it you're gonna get trouble and when you get a frost or some cold
23:46weather that moisture freezes yeah and pops up and that's when you get all those little dots and the
23:51only way to get rid of that is is to get rid of it just just to flat it off
23:55completely yeah it'll all
23:57be good we'll we'll do all these areas uh get rid of all this rust cure it epoxy prime over
24:04the bare
24:04bits and then high build primer block we've got the paint code on here oh have we we have yet
24:10tells
24:11us what it is so we can get that going no problem whatsoever that's fantastic okay so that can all
24:16go well yeah now then because we want to do a little sort of James Bond homage Sunbeam Alpine was
24:24the
24:24first bond car I really Sean Connery actually drove mate I can't wait to see the finished article
24:32as ever man a genius at work get going see you later mate Henry mate bye-bye bye and on
24:43that
24:43encouraging note I'll leave him to it back at the ranch our other motoring Michelangelo has started on
24:53the bumpers while Wayne is painting the actual car I'm going to take the opportunity to clean
25:00these up they are a little bit pitted in places but we are not re-chroming this because what well
25:06it's not bad enough to have to warrant doing it so while the weather's lovely outside trestle table
25:12some wire wool cloth chrome polish happy days I can do this drink tea and I'm in peace and quiet
25:23because everyone else has disappeared for skin it's a question of working with what's there but
25:29Wayne's got to build the paint finish layer by layer two days later after grinding off all the filler and
25:37red oxide Wayne has sprayed on a coat of epoxy primer to seal the metal there was quite a lot
25:44of filler in
25:44this car there was quite a lot of cracks so we've obviously had to no choice we've had to take
25:51it back
25:51and sort that issue out otherwise it's just gonna fail in no time at all this arch here this is
25:58the
25:58one that had a big sort of crack along it to reveal when we dug it out that there's actually
26:04a
26:05considerable depth of filler in that panel it's the same old thing with these old cars they all look
26:11good until you start digging and you're opening up a can of worms touch wood there'll be no more worms
26:18so after a quick wipe down with a tack rag to remove any dust Wayne moves on to the next
26:24stage unlike the
26:26epoxy primer this is now gonna be a high build primer and that's designed to give us a good layer
26:32so we can
26:33block it back and it's a four to one mix and we're gonna give that probably three to four coats
26:39once
26:41we've got a good build of prime on it gives us plenty of product to block down prior to the
26:47next
26:47stage as ever the key to spray painting whether you're doing it with a rattle can or a professional
26:53spray gun is to keep everything moving and aim for multiple layers of paint first the first coat of
26:59primer applied we've got about another three or four coats of that to go on there and then we'll get
27:04it
27:04baked up nice and dry move it back into the middle room for preparation ready for the next stage which
27:10will be the paint
27:18back at the shed Skid has hand polished the bumpers and moved on to the polishing mop for the hubcaps
27:24they
27:25need a little more hardcore work but the results speak for themselves this one was the worst pitted
27:34and most horrible of the four there we go imagine when all four of them are like that it'll look
27:40fantastic and it hasn't really cost much apart from my time which is very cheap saving money on the
27:48chrome has enabled us to go big on the paint job which after three coats of primer has reached its
27:54main stage
27:55the top coat so this is a direct gloss 2k which means we don't need to lacquer it we can
28:03just paint
28:03it straight on full gloss Wayne's now using acrylic paint but his technique is the same keeping the spray
28:14gun moving and achieving a depth of color by spraying on the three coats
28:22I'm really happy with that because it was a mess now it looks good now we're going to get the
28:28other panels prepped
28:33two days later the Alpine's back at base looking lovely do you know I think Wayne's done a great job
28:39hey what do you think Skidly?
28:40I think it's fantastic and I know for a fact when all the adornments go on yeah it will look
28:46amazing it
28:46will and look I have to tell you obviously the bonnet and the boot are on their way yes right
28:51and also the
28:52hubcaps when they go on there they are spangly oh yes baby I just like polishing all the chrome stuff
28:58I find it rewarding it's definitely therapeutic yeah yeah what's a pay rise oh yeah yeah that's what
29:04well now you mention it yeah there you are you see hey look over there in the box and we'll
29:08reveal them
29:09later I decided that instead of trying to look for black seat covers yeah it's actually cheaper to buy
29:17some new black seats right okay what specific to this car uh specific to any general car that wanted
29:24some bucket seats so then yeah so that yeah so that might mean that we've got to do an amount
29:29of
29:29adjustment because maybe the seats might fit onto these bases onto these slightly although maybe we'll
29:37have to take all of that out yeah and put some other base sliders in let's just hope they fit
29:44onto
29:44those rails anyway all I know right is we've got ourselves a beautiful basis thanks to Wayne for us to
29:52now adorn and adorn it we will there we are oh yeah don't drop it don't scratch the paintwork and
29:59out
30:00it comes i think they're rather nice those don't you fuzz works on the seat fittings alan and skid
30:09refit the brackets that hold the bumpers the one thing i'm worried about al is scratching this car
30:15yeah there's a lot of fresh paint isn't it yeah because his lordship will kick off if we do
30:20and i've been sucked into some hoovering you're doing a great job no i was
30:29the chrome work goes on smoothly but as suspected fitting the new seats
30:34is going to be more complicated and will require some surgery and at least another day's work
30:44next day i'm proved right so what i've done is i've made these these adapter plates yeah which
30:53adapt the width of the seat fixings to the width of the of the mounting points in the car of
31:00the runners
31:00yeah so so now we've got new runners to go with our new seats and they're fixed in are they
31:06uh not
31:07quite fixed in they're just loosely fitted at the moment yeah yeah but it all goes together yeah so
31:11i'm doing a trial assembly it's never as easy as you think of course not it's an old car yeah
31:19i did think i'd save money by purchasing brand new seats but with all the time fuzz is taking to
31:25fit
31:25them i'm not so sure i think i finally got the magic of the seats worked out but at the
31:30moment i'm
31:30working upside down and back to front it's all kind of very confusing while i'm putting it together
31:36the alpine was marketed as a sophisticated tourer a more refined version of your triumph for mgb
31:43sports car hence all the chrome and expensive fittings bucket seats were standard finished in leatherette
31:51or microcelled there we go there's our seat in and adjustable it's only taken about three months to
31:58do it i've only got one more to do it takes another couple of hours to get all the door
32:05cards and the
32:06second seat in but by the middle of the afternoon come on then well done will you stop fighting please
32:13stop fighting i'm back from a canine constitutional and from the sounds of it they're virtually done
32:22have you finished yeah i think so bean do you want to try it in you get i thought you
32:26might like to try
32:26as well i do yeah i just want to make sure there's plenty of space in there god fuzz this
32:30has taken a
32:31rather long time hasn't it but my word i don't know if that's a complaint or whether that's i think
32:36it's
32:36going to be worth it oh yeah that's as far away from the steering wheel as i can get you
32:42it's just
32:44perfect i could actually come in a little yeah yeah well it's fully adjustable sir is it yeah come
32:49on then in you get you going in bean come on bean come on then come on here thought you
32:55just go there
32:56is it comfy yeah man it's great oh yes fuzz it's been all worth jolly good not moving about i
33:04tell you
33:04what it's really comfy feeling secure you do those seats are slightly more buckety aren't they so they
33:10cup you a little better i'm so pleased that i didn't do the covers yeah do you know i am
33:17as well
33:17though it's been a bit of a faff to fit them i think it's a better i think it's a
33:21better finish yeah
33:22well look hopefully tomorrow we'll get the bonnet and the and the boot and everything else mate and
33:27we'll be nearly there well done lads you've done a great job i'm sorry i took a long
33:30well a two-day dog walk yeah yeah so the car's starting to look great but when we take it
33:38out
33:38on a james bond style mission will it live up to expectations and prove that like diamonds sunbeams
33:56well why don't we start at the very beginning of the alphabet a for alpine a month ago we bought
34:03a
34:03sunbeam alpine from a shed in essex would you be nearer the fine for that i'll split it 55
34:10but okay we tested it it's got a bit of go to it it's lovely yeah fettled it yes thank
34:22you and treated
34:23it to a brand new paint job i'm really happy with that it was a mess now it looks good
34:29now the bonnet
34:32that's better that's it that's better and the boot that's it that's lovely have been refitted
34:39leaving time for just one final adornment there we go look at that oh come on a wooden steering
34:47wheel they are beautiful they are they're stunning they are when we started on our alpine it was good
34:56from far but far from good now whether you're close up or admiring it from distance it's now locked and
35:02loaded and ready to roll oh come on see that's good hand movements are good like that proper shiny
35:13isn't that looks lovely that is beautiful mate in it hey fuzzer it's lovely isn't it look at that it
35:22looks amazing when you think back to all the red oxide on it yeah i mean look at it now
35:26that's proper and the
35:28interior the seating arrangement now considering it was that horrible light blue it really is something
35:35very special now this is a car for an enthusiast somebody who likes doing a few yeah doing a few
35:42little things with it but the body's good though which is okay that's right so you can use it enjoy
35:47it but also have a little bit of a little bit of fettling yeah it really is lovely but as
35:53they all
35:53say in a trade it may look great but does it ride now fuzzer yes uh you're driving obviously okay
36:00fantastic and i will just come as an accoutrement so look you can have tea yes that's all right
36:05uh we'll have rather good fun we'll stand here in the sunshine and await for a full report yeah yeah
36:10great wait for the phone call it breaks down that's much more likely actually
36:17and we're off at low speed it's a little sluggish could do with possibly a little bit of a tune
36:24here and there all right is that why it's spluttering no it's not so much spluttering it's just it's just
36:30hesitating a little it's been a while since it's been on the road such a great shame that we've had
36:35to
36:35leave alan and guy behind for this test right it is but as svelte as they are i think they'd
36:41have
36:41trouble getting into this back soon but once we move up a gear it comes into its own now we're
36:51on
36:51a bigger road we're what they call in the trade mooting it slightly oh yeah yeah it's not a bad
37:00goer
37:00i'm rather enjoying it are you yeah i'll tell you what your hands on a motelita steering wheel look
37:06so they're really enjoying it that's true and you're just doing the tentative beautifully i like
37:11doing the tentative oh look it's a classic car oh yeah eat on yeah beautiful man that would go
37:16really well with this wouldn't it it would yeah quintessentially british yeah i think so really
37:23this is this is a great small yeah lightweight sports car of the 60s i'll tell you why it's got
37:31a
37:31place in my heart because my dear father-in-law god rest his soul david yeah right he had an
37:39alpine
37:39did he now one of his his first kind of sports car yeah but he was such a dude man
37:44he was a tailor
37:45in saddle road i met him he was a very very stylish fellow and he used to wear in the
37:5170s
37:52flared purple velvet suit fantastic what a dude he was such a dude anyway uh look the alpine
38:00reminds me of him in total around 70 000 alpines were built with an estimated six to seven hundred
38:07still on the road in the uk long may that continue
38:14do you know what i'm feeling like uh i don't know what are you feeling
38:19wait a minute i know what you're feeling like what you always feel like what's that
38:23a cup of tea yeah yeah why not and we know a place to go for it very good idea
38:28absolutely
38:29well i think this has been quite a successful little running mate i'm thrilled with it yeah
38:33i think it's lovely do you know i could i could quite get into having one of these i mean
38:39i've always kind of fancied myself as it's james bond you know it was like that yeah wasn't it like
38:47that yeah and wasn't there a big black car with two hooded fillings in it yeah
38:53you make quite a good chance do you think so yeah
38:58anyway dream on
39:05looks like we've got company
39:14i don't like the look of those guys at all i'm gonna shake them off
39:21these guys mean business
39:28tooting the horn not using their indicators
39:32what sort of people are they i'm better shake them off but gently
39:41i'm born of holding pussy i think pussy's gonna go here
39:48there's a 20 mile per hour limit coming up
39:51my life may be in danger but i'm not going to put anybody else's life in danger
39:58there's a 20 miles per hour it is i hope that they're going to keep to the speed limit as
40:03well
40:03you
40:20there we go showing up a clean pair of heels now that we're out on the open road
40:25they'll never keep up with this alpine
40:34if only there was a turn that i could take somewhere right here
40:55these guys don't give up easily
41:00they're shooting these guys have got live ammunition
41:07looks like things are getting serious around here
41:11the company of angels angels from hell that's for sure
41:18they don't give up easily but then nor do i
41:36the
41:36the
41:37buzzer
41:39come on
41:41what are you doing
41:41go don't you drop your bus choppers here come on
41:49Back in the real world, the hard top's on
41:51and local super villain, cum classic car dealer Chopper Roy
41:56is checking out the goods
41:58Mind the paperwork
42:00I'm just getting closer to Roy
42:02I just thought if I was to slightly intimidate him
42:05he might value it higher, look like that
42:08Now come on mate
42:09It's nice isn't it?
42:10Yeah it's nice
42:11So look, complete respray, new respray
42:16Nicely sprayed wheels, nice hubs
42:18Can I draw your attention to the interior
42:21which took fuzz, took him three days to put these seats in
42:25It's never going to, it didn't take three days to put those seats in
42:29How long did it take really?
42:30It took, I would say two half days
42:33so a full day
42:35What a result though, they look fantastic
42:38They look amazing fuzz
42:39I think they just look divine
42:41You can fit them next time
42:42Well you know I can't
42:42Well you know I can't
42:44You haven't mentioned the steering wheel
42:46Do I need to mention it?
42:48I also fitted that
42:49Beautiful
42:49He also fitted that and it took him literally ten minutes
42:53So yes mate, look runs and rides
42:55How much do you reckon then?
42:58There's not many out there that don't need anything
43:00So you're going to top end
43:0212, 13 in the couple of weeks
43:05If the sun comes out you're adding towards 13, right?
43:08Mate the sun is out
43:09This is a result
43:10It is yeah
43:11I don't know how much it's cost
43:12But I think we're in
43:13Well it's cost about, including paint and other peripheral items such as the steering wheel
43:18About nine grand, nine and a half
43:20Really?
43:20So all I can say to you
43:22Chopsicle
43:23If you could get 13 for it
43:25I mean we could have
43:26We'd have three grand profit
43:28What a result Chops
43:29Hey
43:30That was well worth it then wasn't it?
43:32Yeah absolutely
43:32And it is a lovely car
43:34The Sunbeam Alpine
43:36A dream of a car
43:38Yeah
