00:04look at those shoes there is nothing undercover about those shoes I tell you
00:08you could be lying in a bush somewhere doing surveillance yeah they just be
00:12glowing like orbs but that's right but that's how you tell when you're at your
00:16festival yeah it's like yeah you know people are mixing in if if you're
00:20looking out for the feds you need to look look at the shoes because they've
00:24all got the shoes definitely undercover they're quality items they
00:28are well done yeah those are the same color as my teeth yeah that's what
00:32worries me yeah cheers and we're off trawling Britain's sheds this is
00:41absolutely unbelievable for the most intriguing I have never ever seen one of
00:47these the most exciting oh that is a naughty car the most surprising classic
00:55cars it is very you I love we're gonna buy them fix them up go and sell them for a
01:06tidy profits nice little earner hey this is shed and berries classic cars
01:18we're on our way to Essex in search of a classic car but as usual fuzz is moaning about the
01:24landy
01:25I think even if we caught a number six bus we'd probably still get to Essex before this I knew
01:33buses
01:33would come into it somewhere along life I'm sorry okay so look we're gonna go and see James is it
01:39that's right yeah and he's in Burnham on Cratch now are you wearing are you wearing a khaki t-shirt
01:46on purpose might be are you trying to fit in with the big boys maybe yeah I think so because
01:53we know
01:54what James likes don't we we do military stuff yes exactly we might be getting something quite big
02:01right okay fantastic or I have seen other pictures of other vehicles there right like come jeeps things
02:12okay so it could be anything but it's with a military vibe we could definitely say that we are going
02:21military
02:21today fantastic so whether we come back with a Jeep or a chieftain tank who knows but Burnham on Crouch
02:31we will salute you if I ever learn how to salute James I really don't know where to start this
02:39morning only because this this is the longest cul-de-sac I've ever been in did you know to the
02:47end of the world did you notice there was a cul-de-sac sign at the end must be I
02:53must be in
02:54the wrong place are we very close to the scene literally about quarter mile literally in that
02:58direction is North Sea okay literally now look come on man this gives an idea of what's going on here
03:04yeah it's impressive well I mean we've been here many years something we're a group of people that sort of
03:09club together where we collect classic cars classic military vehicles go to different shows more like
03:14military vehicle shows classic car shows yeah we try to participate in any historical events that we
03:20can hey look just a vibe here is kind of sort of military but American yes we do try to
03:25aim for like
03:25them the American style American things we have diversed into a bit of British stuff here and there
03:29as well even a little bit of Russian stuff we like valuing the historical side of it more than
03:34anything well there's a lot of stuff in there is it all for sale though or is it many things
03:38are
03:39yeah okay James is the gatekeeper right okay to the money you've got the prices you know the
03:45price he knows in his head idea yeah he's got a vibe right cool all right so just look we'll
03:49have a
03:50rummage it might take us a few days yes yeah and then hopefully we'll call you in on a few
03:56things I'm
03:56sure because we'll want some more info yeah and then at the end have a haggle brilliant thank you
04:00very much all right cheers fantastic James thank you so much cheers James all right thank you hey look well
04:05shall we head in show you the door yeah come on then mate see you later James see ya so
04:11here we go
04:11into one of our biggest sheds ever do you know what yeah I find myself in places these days where
04:22I
04:22think I've been to all the sheds yeah you can't get any more sheds than this well this is absolutely
04:28unbelievable just amazing as James promised there's plenty of ex-american army from Willis jeeps to
04:38Chrysler staff cars but for the more unusual fare a monster military truck what are we in the market
04:45for a large truck you know what well we could be if you're gonna go for a large truck go
04:49extra large
04:51and a mysterious Willis half track which I had no idea existed James now look come over here mate
04:58firstly I cannot believe this place it's an incredible collection I'd call it a depot really
05:05it's an American depot yeah military ever tell me about that that is a willis jeep this was built
05:12as a film prop this was oh it's amazing because I mean it just looks like a willis that has
05:16been
05:16adapted in period so whoever built that blimey oh it was very professionally built oh yeah too right
05:23it is great mate but that's why those tracks are so mint yeah yeah of course it is of course
05:27it is but
05:28mate that's incredible look all these trucks where do they come from these trucks what's this one here
05:33this is that's it this is a Rio Whistler what they called oh yeah okay I had one of them
05:37yeah
05:38Rio Whistlers yeah so what they call a deuce and a half yes that type thing
05:44introduced in 1949 the Rio general purpose truck was a mainstay of the American army for the next 40
05:52years serving everywhere from Korea to Vietnam
05:57would you mind if we take a look inside absolutely fine all right you go first
06:05because I'm a bit scared nope okay this will take your weight don't laugh at him James honestly
06:11wow there's a bunk in here is that yeah you could probably make it a two-berth but then look
06:19there's a great seating here table here yeah great seating area so that we can plan our missions
06:25yeah yeah oh it's lovely I'm going to see what it's like around the front
06:30no surprise it's equally impressive I used to have one okay yeah it was called the Whistler
06:37okay because it was so loud it's a turbocharger turbocharger absolutely bang on mate and it was so
06:46loud in the cab people some people have headphones on while they're driving it do you know what I
06:51mean but there is something really aggressive and like oh Mad Max about it isn't there totally
06:59should we go and have a look at it let's go next door yeah looking outside things get no smaller
07:05this is
07:07very lovely isn't it so it's beautiful I love it the Plymouth Fury suburban was 225 inches long 78
07:18inches wide and designed to seat six to nine people in top of the range luxury don't you think it
07:25looks
07:25like an enormous Vauxhall Victor estate and of course made by the same company do you think they just kind
07:32of scale the Victor down of course yeah that's exactly what would have happened I think it's
07:36lovely I think that is a beautiful thing I think you look cherished I'll bet you it in for sale
07:40yeah
07:41no probably that looks lovely well I come on then always inward inside the yank tanks continue with a
07:48fast 1970s Ford Galaxy I don't know what size engine it's got in they either got the 4.7 4
07:55.9 or the
07:57great big 7 litre 7 litre and a much earlier rotted up model a Ford I love them once we
08:05have bigger rear
08:06wheels and it is very you but there are also some more diminutive European cars this is nice all right
08:15a little notchback VW built on the same engine and wheelbase as the Beetle back in 1961 the notchback was
08:24VW's top-secret attempt to break into the saloon car market tell you what I do love is is that
08:30yeah
08:31do you know what I mean thing is though about these yeah you get a nice one quite pricey oh
08:37and I reckon
08:38this we might be this looks quite yeah it does look very nice doesn't it moving through this sheds
08:46labyrinthine workshops the icing on the mainly American pie is a classic Brit a Walsley 1500 the
08:54sister vehicle was the Riley 1.5 a bit of badge engineering by the British Motor Corporation okay
09:00so because I immediately thought that was a Riley no is it so the Riley has the Riley shaped grill
09:06so
09:07yeah this is you know whether I always thought that these look like a slightly pinched military lady in
09:15fact my old headmistress Miss Grimsley who caned me at junior school she drove around in a little
09:22grey one of those did I like it no I used to think they were quite stuffy but actually now
09:28these get
09:29used a lot in historic racing do they yeah you can make these things go they are a great little
09:36mover
09:36okay so we've got a little Walsley there you've got that Rio that big truck yeah big little okay
09:44the Galaxy as well that's a nice motor what else is there there was the Plymouth Suburban yeah what
09:50the one outside yeah that's right the massive Vauxhall Victor hey look we either go vast yeah or
09:58perfectly formed why don't we ask a few prices amen that kids gonna have a guide us James looks the
10:05kind of guy who might do a deal yeah come on let's go and find out yeah now look let's
10:14get down to
10:14business all right just saw going back in my head there is that ridiculously large Rio yes truck yeah
10:24yeah Dill can be certainly struck with that one how much would that be I reckon he's going to want
10:30to over nine and a half thousand for it over nine and a half yeah okay now I was quite
10:35taken by that
10:36uh Plymouth Suburban was it oh the Plymouth Sports Suburban yeah that's it well there is a price on it
10:44okay you have to be over twenty thousand pound for that one I'm afraid okay I can see why mate
10:50yeah
10:50it is beautiful full Galaxy seven and a half Grands uh can I just get with a little bit of
10:56an English
10:56moment here yeah with the Wolseley 1500 oh yes 1500 quid oh pound a cc and um we've got the
11:04notch back
11:04there yeah that could be for sale I don't like that laugh I'd let that go for nine and a
11:14half okay mate all
11:15right okay what are you thinking you're thinking thinking of going snack size or super large I think
11:24we're going main meal oh okay eight and a half for the Rio nine
11:43we're down in Essex with James his huge shed and his dazzling array of classic cars and trucks we bid
11:52eight and a half grand on a Rio Whistler but he wants nine are we sure we want to do
11:58this because
11:59it's huge I mean I would be going for the Wolseley but you obviously have a bigger greater ambition
12:06than I have we're going to shake come on then nine nothing okay thank you very much I don't know
12:13what
12:13I've done next day back at the shed I find out now skid yes if you go down to the
12:23sheds today
12:24you're sure of a big surprise oh yeah oh yeah baby now I know this is bad because I've known
12:29you so long
12:30yeah when you're like this yeah you're thinking he's not gonna like this we shall see
12:41he's gone very quiet I have gone quiet but can I just say something what we've had something this
12:49size and quite similar before yeah years and all I can say is yeah it was great fun especially when
12:55we're on a tiny Cotswold Road and we met the school bus coming the other way on a nest bend
12:59I've never
13:00had a bus reverse for exactly get out the way when you're in something like this guy Willison yeah
13:05everything gets out of the way yeah yeah the great thing is it comes with accommodation
13:12the USP of this particular Rio is of course the bunk room at the back so that's where your your
13:18overnight accommodation is it needs a clean out but before we attend to that a problemino
13:25there is a small issue with it because I drove it just to here yeah from out there here we
13:31go here
13:31we go that's a trail that I saw when I came in this yeah there is a snail's trail of
13:37oil right yeah oh
13:39so we've got a massive oily there is a massive engine we need to check out this is the one
13:43thing
13:43that worries me about this kind of thing that it's so massive yeah if that's an oily one how would
13:49you
13:49get the engine out of this should we have a little look check the levels and then then go from
13:53there
13:53but let's get the whole thing looking great and then driving great and then we'll invade Oxfordshire
14:02so first things first the oil issue oh there you are great blimey that is a large engine
14:11it is do you know what size it is yes it's a straight six in order to check the oil
14:16level
14:16you have to run the engine so up I go yeah I'm in right uh ignition on
14:29that's whistling nicely it is called the whistler okay
14:36then after leaving the engine to call for a bit fuzz checks its huge dipstick
14:41right here we go all right here we go it's the big one
14:47well it's right up to here oh yeah it's way over so something weird really is happening so I
14:55think we drain a bit and see how much it goes down yeah yeah okay so we need a container
15:00we do
15:00yeah right right we need a container we've been up top there are now it's time to go underneath
15:06who's going to do the draining oh you are oh you're the bus mechanic time for fuzz to get down
15:13and
15:13dirty fuzzler yeah I've just grabbed the biggest spanners we've got I have no clue if any of them
15:20at any good fantastic ah yeah this one'll do right you want a hammer I've got one they say there's
15:28nothing the hammer cannot fix once he's got his weapon of choice blimey that's tight and fended off
15:38beans unwelcome advances no no bean no not now no no bean not now fuzz loosens the sump plug
15:47do you know what fuzz I think we should get Henry to do this that would be a great idea
15:51yeah I'd like
15:52to see him do this actually yeah because it's going to be bad you know this is going to be
15:58really bad
15:59oh oh ow oh something's just happened to my leg that's it yeah I'm gonna have to go and lie
16:05down
16:05come and have a lie down here then we've got a mat we've got a mat oh there's something really
16:09oh dear
16:10gosh right ow okay we're ready can't you just loosen it and let it when it never oh my god
16:17fuzz
16:19try and stop it now i think that's about it
16:27i haven't got it in oh no come on oh no push it there we go oh right
16:35it's everywhere you've made a terrible mess of my gravel look at the new mat oh fuzzer the new
16:42mat is soiled look at my mat oh no brand new brand new today 20 pounds you paid for that
16:50ruined i'll
16:52let you off okay you didn't mean to did you well no i didn't but oh there we go i
16:58hope we don't need to
16:59take more out talk about famous last words when fuzz mounts up to recheck well we're still quite a
17:08long way up are you gonna have to do it again i think so yeah i think we should share
17:17the load here
17:17i think henry should have a little legs hurting again i'll have to go lighter fuzz goes down under
17:23again second time lucky fuzz that oh it's rattling rattling rattling there we go
17:32that'll do surely no oh my god it's massive better better but it's only come down that far
17:41and for a third time decanting more oil than the average petrol station
17:46but even then we're definitely over still it's not until he's given it a fourth bleed
17:56that fuzz is satisfied okay so look we have taken out how much is that do you reckon 40 45
18:04liters maybe
18:0645 liters of oil yeah when it should only have 20 in it that's correct
18:11yeah and the the oil that came out was very thin then after spending an hour draining the old oil
18:18we spend the next 15 minutes putting 20 liters of fresh stuff back in so that is 10 liters per
18:25cuppa
18:26it's my second cuppa that's 20 liters in about we reckon 40 liters out what's it like fuzz it's a
18:34tiny tad
18:35over all right well done lads uh and that's lunch
18:42after the longest oil check known to man next day the plan is to take it out and the good
18:47news
18:47is that alan's back now al are you prepared for a big reveal go on then it is big that's
18:55absolutely
18:56huge what have you bought that's ridiculous absolutely ridiculous it's all in it's all in
19:07where are you going to drive this i don't know no no we've got a plan we've got a plan
19:11i think what
19:12we've got to do now now we've sorted the oil out is we're all getting the cab all four can
19:16fit in
19:17there and um and then we'll go for a test ride i think just to make sure everything's working
19:24so we've got a plan time to get cozy
19:30and get going
19:34even without its machine guns the rio weighs in
19:37at over 13 000 pounds the equivalent of 10 mark one minis oh my god this is amazing this thing
19:4722 foot long eight foot wide nine foot high 135 horsepower driving this is not for the faint-hearted
19:58i've never seen him concentrate so much no he's very quiet he is yeah i am this is great yeah
20:06one
20:07false move and we're in the bushes maximum speed 56 yeah i wouldn't like to go 56 on a bigger
20:16road
20:16it feels very solid and planted and i'm glad to say that when we do encounter a bus our bus
20:22find the bus
20:25it's way on the other side but getting the rio back down my narrow drive is more testing
20:32mind the gate post i know i know there's a bloke who owns this place
20:36oh he's a right grumpy so-and-so absolutely you don't want it you don't want to upset him
20:44you'll never hear the end of it no by the time we get out i feel like i've done 12
20:50rounds with mike tyson
20:53how was that then it was when i went into a rut and couldn't get out no i thought i
20:58really really
20:59thought my days were over that was a battle wasn't it yeah we're gonna have to roll it
21:03hey look but we're digressing is there any leakage no no no it's dry no dry as a bone which
21:11either
21:11means that we've cured the leak or there isn't anything left in it yeah you've bought a good one
21:16oh that's great mate well i'll tell you what pretty terrifying so what do we do now we need to
21:21clean out the back and then we'll go and invade oxfordshire somewhere great stuff yeah you can
21:26dry fuzz so a good first day but to clean out the back we're gonna have to deal with all
21:34kinds of
21:35filth and vermin and our newly recruited sniffer dog does not seem that interested
21:54we've got our rio running sweetly the oil leak is fixed and i've just about worked out how to drive
22:00it
22:01one false move and we're in the bushes but before we take it out properly we've got to clear out
22:07the
22:07rear bunk room and before we do that delightful task to find out more about the military scene
22:14we've headed north to a very special museum in leicestershire this place is called armageddon
22:22armageddon yes seeing as we're in the whole military vibe with the rio yeah i thought we might have a
22:27quick
22:27look at some tanks well it looks like we're in the right place founded in 2003 it's a specialist
22:36military museum housing over 60 tanks as well as trucks like ours you look really funny that low and
22:46small hey look come on should we go look at some tanks that's what we're here for
22:54today britain's military restoration scene is huge with an estimated 20 000 fighting vehicles
23:01in private hands as curator alex explains a lot of this collection focuses on world war ii starting
23:10with this stewart tank used in north africa before sherman's became available can you imagine being in that
23:17battle zone yeah terrified just sitting there waiting are we going to get hit and you would
23:23have been in the desert as well so 40 degree heat on one of these dreadful hey i'll tell you
23:28what alex
23:29i was offered one of these the other day right totally rusted oh he wanted 175 grand for two oh
23:36wow two
23:36of them that's not a bad price depends if you can restore it yeah brand new one well very nice
23:41how much
23:44is that quite recent thing that they've gone up through the roof or not definitely probably in
23:48the last 20 years or so okay wartime stuff's always kept it back when we started you could buy a
23:54sherman
23:55for probably about 50 000 60 000 and now you're looking at 400 000 minimum and talking of sherman's the
24:03allies most widely used tank is a great survivor with around 1500 of the 50 000 produced in museums and
24:11private collections this m4 has a huge bunker busting 105 millimeter gun to take on germany's
24:19famous tiger tanks do they ever come up against each other oh yeah yeah all the time 100 100 yeah
24:26i heard they have to sneak up behind and hit the tiger up the back that was the only place
24:30it could
24:30blow it up in the engine bay it really depends on the tank but yeah i really you definitely have
24:35to
24:35aim for the weak points i'm going to shock you with another bit of knowledge oh god here we go
24:38no you're ready you're ready i'm going to lean now go on then why are they called tanks why is
24:43it
24:43called a tank do you know do you know yes i do do you want to say yeah go first
24:47world war the first
24:48tanks yeah look like a tank the shape of them like a water tank hey that's is that really it
24:53yeah yeah
24:53it is it was also they used as a um sort of a secret code word so when the germans
24:58were you know spying
24:58and trying to find out what we were building they thought we were just building massive water tanks to
25:03take over you know to give the troops water or whatever because they did look like that with
25:07the tracks on the outside yeah yeah they looked like a water tank with all the rivets like those
25:11old metal ones used to see in farmyards god how fascinating so we go stewart and then sherman
25:18and then centurion pretty much yes let's have a quick look there's one through here isn't there yes
25:24the last of our trio the centurion was a hugely successful british design which stayed in service
25:31for almost 40 years and was still in combat in the 1980s going from the sherman to this
25:39this is sort of the beginning of what you would call a modern tank really every tank from pretty
25:44much then onwards they've all changed obviously they've got loads of different technology but
25:47they've also kept the same basic shape basic idea really i've got one of these skid one of what one
25:52of
25:52these centurions are you yeah a little corgi model in a box oh yeah yeah have you ever been
25:58in a tank i've been in one once many years ago and it was a very inhospitable place i was
26:03knocking
26:04my shins on there's a lot of metal ledges and bolts in them well if you want to come and
26:08drive
26:08one now we can go have a little look really yeah of course what do you recommend oh let's do
26:13it
26:13yeah come on i'm loving it we can invade are we in oxfordshire no leicestershire leicestershire yeah so
26:18that's two shires we've done yeah come on like our rio back home the vehicles here are just for show
26:27they're for go and for play so alex look what is this so this is what we call an fv43
26:34230. now look
26:36this is one of the ones that you do our paintball you fire out of the tank yeah yeah we
26:42shoot giant
26:42paintballs 40 millimeter paintballs out of the turret out of the tanks that'll hurt we don't
26:49have time for tank paintball today alas but we can't leave without a test ride we'll sit on top
26:55can we uh no well there's some seats in the uh in the turret you've just got to struggle your
27:00way in
27:00there and get in there how'd you get up it's no surprise that tank crew tend to be smaller than
27:10truck drivers you've got to turn around in a minute oh rio may be a bit cramped but it's a
27:16lot easier to
27:17get into the miss now sit down he's put a seat all right now you're in all right come on
27:27then alex
27:28we're off babe we're invading leicestershire or wherever we are
27:37as for the driving experience if i struggled with a six and a half ton rio
27:42i think i'll give this 15 tonner a miss and let alex take the controls
27:47i think you steer it like that yeah
27:57the fv432 has a top speed of 32 miles an hour and a range of about 360. it's designed to
28:05be resistant
28:05to nuclear chemical and biological weapons and to wade through one meter deep water
28:11but after all the rain we've had this year even alex is avoiding the biggest puddles
28:17that was great fun what a treat
28:24after a day larking in the mud back at base we've got a different kind of dirt to deal with
28:29but before we don our rubber gloves and hazmat suits something else has just turned up at the shed
28:35it does doesn't it yeah hold on i think it might actually work right i don't like the way this
28:41is
28:41pointing at me i see so you found it now have you yeah yeah well have you we're just inspecting
28:47it's
28:47rather lovely it's all right yeah it's a nice thing one shilling and four p for petrol for a gallon
28:53we got ourselves a little hand crank there i purchased it for the pricely sum of 500 of your finest
28:57british
28:58pounds well that's a bargain i rather love it is that going up for sale after restoration i wonder
29:06oh he's got a twitch yeah he's got a nervous twitch
29:08is it actually authentic old or is it a reproduction no it's authentic old yeah
29:12absolutely yeah i do quite like it i mean with a good cleanup and maybe a little bit of attention
29:17to
29:17these i think just a cleanup and skiddler would you do the honors with the nozzle nozzle yes if we
29:23remove that i will go and polish it meantime we could just get a bucket and sponge and sponge it
29:29down yeah okay if you think we're doing this to avoid cleaning the rio you might be right our gas
29:37guzzling troop carrier has a 50 gallon tank so you'd have to do a lot of hand cranking to fill
29:43it up
29:44cleaning our new pump however is not so challenging
29:47yeah fuzz disassembles skid does a bit of polishing a little bit of bling does help
29:57i give it a sponge down and before you can say get back in that truck we're done
30:04shall i just do this yes screw it on yeah yeah righty tighty lefty loosey
30:09i have you know that's it and you can twist that to where you need it here
30:14how would you like it in there sort of like yeah that's perfect oh well lads look at that
30:20it's brightened up hasn't it yes it has it's ready for sale to someone in the next two or three
30:25years
30:26tea yeah come on why not fantastic well done after a kip and a cuppa we've got no more excuses
30:33left
30:34to put off cleaning the rio at least though we do have our new recruit now listen lads we're dressed
30:42for the occasion yeah you see before us something that probably needs disinfecting right yeah we have
30:51ourselves a living quarters i think we send the dog in first yeah in case there's a wrap i think
30:58that's
30:58cruel no i don't think we should she loves it i will go up there you will hand me the
31:03dog and it
31:04will go in and investigate whether there is any rats or mice she is ready for action this is what
31:11she
31:11was bred for ratting and eating biscuits yeah well do you know i think if there'd been rats in there
31:18should have gone wild already no only one way to find out send in the shock troops
31:27hold on hold on we gotta get bean bean come on beaneth come on come on bean bean look she's
31:33not
31:34really come on up for her duties is she once bean has been re-enlisted onto the bench that's where
31:41you
31:41belong okay now bean are you ready for this she is not keenan i don't blame her i think you're
31:47gonna
31:47have to go in first and we'll pass the dog through the hatch he's in he's in contrary to expectations
31:54our rat killing mice marauder doesn't engage any enemy vermin what's it like in there bean
32:03you're supposed to be checking out for rats she's quite happy there she wants to go for a kid
32:09so we'll take it that there are probably no rats but the rest of the clutter ranges from the good
32:15what's that ground sheet to the bad there's gonna be a huge spider isn't there to the downright ugly
32:22it's got dribble rocks on it oh god oh no no no please no that's going in the skip and
32:30that's just
32:30for the start use towels just give your face a little wipe oh moldy sleeping bags throw that
32:41straight out first okay let's go in and out of date rations dare i open them no december 2022
32:49half an hour later we've got a healthy rubbish pile and a much cleaner truck can i just explain to
32:55you
32:55what we're going to do yes you can it's like watching the television well it is hi welcome
33:00judy yeah does that work yeah yeah very funny we are going to take this on one of our favorite
33:09expeditions i think this is just the perfect vehicle to traverse the road see how that goes
33:14yeah yeah to traverse off-road yeah with some gravel some mud some shale good that kind of caper
33:22and then just to finish off to give it a clean we'll drive it through our lovely ford yeah okay
33:28okay
33:28because i think considering we've had 40 days of continuous rain it might be quite deep yeah screens
33:34ever so clear on this it's like you can almost touch it yeah yeah yeah
33:40so we got a pile of detritus and a truck that's ready to roll our rio though is hard enough
33:47to
33:47drive on talmac how are we going to cope with dirt tracks and flooded roads
34:03two weeks ago we found a huge american truck in a massive shed in essex
34:09come on now nothing okay we fettled it oh my god
34:13fuzz
34:18tested it i've never seen him concentrate so much
34:24sanitized it
34:26and now we're going to show it some love
34:30oh hold on sense of attention now i thought i might sort of engender a little bit of creativity
34:36and light and loveliness into our uh american truck prior to the endeavor i thought i might put it on
34:44the bed
34:44oh okay just so it looks nice and okay and more kind of sort of peaceful yeah well i was
34:51surprised
34:51you haven't turned up with a load of scatter cushions
34:54what a nice idea but you see my whole idea is that we make it look lovely in there and
35:00presentable
35:00and sort of you know slightly creative yes and then when we come to sell it it's going to be
35:04worth
35:04a vast amount more who's going to go in there because i'm a bit scared well we sell them you
35:08always nick those back
35:13mexican roll mats don't cost much especially if you reuse them for every sale and in this shed at
35:20least they've become a restoration essential well it's a tiny bit more cheery all there remains to do
35:30is take our rio on pre-sale maneuvers we've had to remove the machine gun for legal reasons
35:37but it's fueled up oiled up and supposedly crewed up the problem is though i can't find my compatriots
35:47i wonder where they are hang on oh my god all right see you look fantastic we can now go
36:00and invade
36:00oxfordshire i thought we were going poaching time now for me too to get into uniform right you lot
36:11do you know what i once met keith harris you know what's that meant to mean what an orville oh
36:21i was thinking he looks like a pheasant that's had a skirmish with a car
36:26all right well we're all looking idiots okay well all aboard
36:54this is undoubtedly the noisiest vehicle we've ever had
36:59even the tank we tried out yesterday at armageddon was quiet by comparison
37:04this is great you know i don't think you can hear a thing we're saying
37:08you can't you definitely can't hear us what about that henry what yeah this is such a demanding drive
37:15it's probably the heaviest and most awkward vehicle i've ever experienced so like this corner
37:24how are we doing all right take it easy down here you don't want to end up in a ditch
37:30no no no we're not
37:34straight roads are easier than corners but that ain't saying much
37:39a bit scared a bit scared a bit scared
37:45i've never had to concentrate so hard apart from my biology o level
37:54the rio relied on so-called armstrong steering
37:59or to put another way where's the power steering you needed popeye's biceps to keep it under control
38:05third gear
38:09i think we're in here we go
38:12now we're rocking yeah
38:14tell you what it goes nice watch where you're going
38:17sorry don't look up fast
38:20blimey you're frightening me that's great you don't notice the potholes in this do you
38:27no i've got any potholes
38:32hang on like a pulse roadworks there's a final tarmac test i'm gonna thread it through some roadworks
38:39breathe in everyone breathe in
38:44right flying colors i'd say third please mate
38:48there we go you're in stone
38:53with skid helping me change gear i'm starting to get the hang of this and even enjoying it
39:01so far it's coped pretty well with cotswold roads but for its second test we're going to take it off
39:08road and see how fuzz copes in the driver's seat
39:34the whistler was designed to be as happy off-roaders on
39:40it's totally at home on dirt tracks like these
39:45oh every time we go over a bump it lets me know that you wait till you start turning round
39:53i reckon i'll get straight through that hedge
39:55oh no no you can't go through the hedge
39:58i can no oh you don't want me to
40:02puddles
40:05all the fields so waterlogged will stay off the grass but the rio's got no problems with dirt
40:12tracks or giant puddles
40:16talking of which i'm gonna get behind the wheel again for the third and final challenge of today
40:22getting through the truck wash aka the ford at shelton
40:27this is it boys
40:30my nightmare is if we see if there's someone coming the other way i know
40:36we're going in boys come on then the water might only be a foot high but i've seen plenty of
40:42vehicles
40:42get stuck here ah hey not the rio
40:49that'll beat me up won't it yeah oh yes
40:52it's coped remarkably well and if you can do it once
40:56make a noise
40:57boop boop boop boop boop why not go for a second wash cycle
41:03after the longest three or should i say 30 point turn known to man
41:13ably assisted by my dedicated gear shifter it's time for take two
41:19ready slowing fast down
41:22oh okay
41:27hey hey
41:29so our six ton super truck has coped remarkably well though i'm not sure whether that final dip
41:36got it dirtier or cleaner all we gotta do now is get it back to base i think we've had
41:42quite a
41:42remarkable day yeah i think that truck is well i think it's been brilliant you know it is isn't
41:48it yeah it's been very good and it comes with a mess room yeah i know and it starts on
41:52the button
41:53yeah yeah it looks good we haven't had a skirmish with another motorist no you can get tired you
41:58have a little nap in the back light a fire go camping get some get some food out and then
42:05we
42:05can retire to bed i've got i've got sugar for your tea here if you need this oh no no
42:10no we thought we'd
42:10get rid of those yeah i think this is the ideal festival wagon well i think it really is and
42:17actually it would get you to a festival as well slowly but yes it would well the acid test obviously
42:24is how much is she worth chopper roy very true hey well done lads what a very good day spring
42:32has sprung
42:33your good health
42:40next day the sun's gone back in but local dealer chopper roy has come over anyway to give us the
42:47low
42:47down on what the rio's worth we've sorted out the inside of it and we put a nice uh mexican
42:54roll mat in there right and then you got your dining table and chairs nice and it goes really
43:03well nothing's going to get in the way of that so look we gave nine grand dead for it all
43:07right there's
43:08obviously not many out there but i'd put that at 12. 15 would buy you very nice okay so 12
43:14grand
43:14oh yes you start at 12. all right yeah three grand yeah no it's not yet 12 you know 12
43:20grand and you're
43:24gonna have your dinner in it yeah dinner yeah live in it sleep in it drive it anything you want
