In a quiet village at the foot of misty mountains, a boy named Haru lived with his grandmother. For years, the rains had stopped, drying rivers and fields. One evening, his grandmother handed him a wooden charm.

“The shrine at the mountain’s edge holds the balance of rain,” she said. “If it is forgotten, the rains will vanish. Go, and listen carefully to whatever you meet.”

The next morning, Haru climbed the hills to the overgrown shrine. On the steps sat a black cat with golden eyes.

“You’re late,” it said.

Before his eyes, the cat shimmered and transformed into a young girl. “I am Kuro,” she said. “I am the keeper of this shrine—and of the rain.”

Haru asked why the rains had stopped. Kuro explained that she had sealed the rains to protect people from wild storms, but now the village suffered from drought.

Determined to help, Haru cleaned the shrine, repaired broken beams, and brought water and offerings. Kuro watched silently, sometimes as a girl, sometimes as the cat.

“Why do you care?” she asked.

“Because no one else is here,” Haru replied.

One evening, as twilight fell, Haru placed a bowl of rice at the altar.

“If I release the rain now, it may harm people,” Kuro said.

“Then don’t do it alone,” Haru said.

Together, they released the rain. It fell soft and gentle, soaking the earth and reviving the village. Kuro shimmered, then collapsed into the black cat, leaping lightly into the mist.

The next morning, villagers returned to the shrine with offerings. Sometimes, when rain fell, a black cat could be seen quietly watching from the steps. Haru smiled, knowing that kindness, courage, and care could restore even what seemed lost forever.

00:00In a quiet village nestled at the foot of misty mountains, the life-giving rains had long since vanished.
00:07Rivers turned to cracked earth and green fields withered into dust.
00:13One evening, Haru's grandmother, her eyes filled with ancient knowledge, handed him a carved wooden charm.
00:20The shrine at the mountain's edge holds the balance of rain, she whispered.
00:25If it is forgotten, the water stays hidden.
00:28Go, Haru, and listen carefully.
00:31The next morning, Haru began his climb up the winding, overgrown path.
00:36He pushed through thickets and scaled fallen stones until he reached the ancient structure.
00:42On the mossy steps sat a sleek black cat with piercing golden eyes.
00:48You're late, the cat said, its voice echoing with a strange clarity.
00:54Before Haru's astonished eyes, the creature shimmered with ethereal light.
00:58Its form stretched and shifted, transforming into a young girl named Kuro, the keeper of the shrine and the rain.
01:07Haru stood in awe as the wind whispered through the trees.
01:11Kuro explained that she had sealed the rains away to protect the people.
01:16Determined to help, Haru began to clean the neglected shrine.
01:20He worked tirelessly, repairing beans and clearing debris.
01:25Kuro watched him, shifting between her human and feline forms.
01:30Why do you care?
01:32She asked one afternoon.
01:34Haru wiped the sweat from his brow and replied simply,
01:39Because no one else is here.
01:41As twilight painted the sky in hues of orange and purple, Haru placed a fresh offering at the altar.
01:48Kuro stood beside him, her brow furrowed with concern.
01:53If I release the rain now, its sudden force might harm the village.
01:58Haru looked at the parched land and offered a reassuring smile.
02:02Then don't do it alone, he said, reaching out.
02:06Together, they stood before the altar, hands clasped tight.
02:10A soft glow emanated from Kuro, and a gentle hum filled the air.
02:16Slowly, the first drops began to fall.
02:20It was not a storm, but a tender drizzle that soaked the thirsty earth,
02:25reviving every leaf and stone with its life-giving touch.
02:30Haru felt the magic pulsing through their joined hands,
02:34a bridge between the spirit world and his home.
02:36The scent of wet earth rose to meet them,
02:39a perfume of hope.
02:41The next morning, the village was reborn.
02:44Fields turned green and rivers began to sing once more.
02:48Kuro had vanished into the mist.
02:51But sometimes, when a gentle rain falls,
02:54a black cat with golden eyes is seen.
02:57Haru smiled,
02:59knowing that kindness, courage and care
03:01could restore even what seemed lost forever.
03:04forever.
03:04Here we go.
