The Bread Thief

A young boy was caught stealing a piece of bread in the bustling market, and in fear of punishment,
he ran through narrow alleys, ashamed and trembling.
Jesus noticed him fleeing and quietly followed, calling softly, “Child, where are you?
” The boy hid in the shadows, tears streaming down his face, heart pounding with guilt and fear.
Jesus knelt down and spoke gently, “I want to help you.
Do not be afraid.
” Hesitant but sensing kindness, the boy slowly followed Jesus to his small home,
where his mother lay weak and the food basket was empty.
Jesus asked softly, “Why did you take the bread?
” Choked with emotion, the boy replied, “My mother is sick, and we have no food.
I only wanted to bring her something to eat.”
Jesus smiled with understanding.
“Child, I know your heart is full of love, but taking what is not yours will not solve the problem.
Courage and kindness can change your life far more than anything stolen in fear.
” Together, Jesus and the boy thought of ways to help honestly.
They gathered surplus food from neighbors and brought it to his mother.
The boy felt a warmth in his heart he had never known and understood that honesty, courage,
and kindness bring true hope and light.
He held Jesus’ hand, filled with newfound strength, and from that day on, cared for his mother with love and integrity,
sharing the lessons of goodness he had learned.
As Jesus departed, the boy stood at the doorway, watching him walk away, his heart strengthened,
knowing that true power comes from love, courage, and kindness—not from fear or theft.
